음함수 곡면 맞춤을 이용한 다각형 모델로부터 특징 추출 알고리즘 (Feature Extraction Algorithm from Polygonal Model using Implicit Surface Fitting)

  • 본 논문은 3차원 다각형 모델에서 특징 선을 추출하기 위한 방법에 대해 제안한다. 이산 곡면으로 이루어진 다각형 모델에서 특징 선을 추출하기 위하여 기존 방법에서는 전역적인 음함수 곡면 맞춤 기법(Implicit Surface Fitting)을 이용하여 모델의 꼭지점에서 곡률과 곡률 미분 값을 측정하였다. 이러한 방법은 다각형 모델의 꼭지점에서 음함수 곡면으로 정확하게 투영할 수 있도록 사용자의 정의 파라미타를 찾아야 하며, 특징 추출을 위한 많은 계산 시간을 요구한다. 그러나 제안 방법은 지역적 음함수 곡면 맞춤 기법을 이용하여 모델의 꼭지점에 근사된 곡면을 통해 미분 정보를 측정한다. 측정된 미분 정보를 통해 쉽게 각각의 모서리에서 제로-클로싱을 통해 특징 점을 추출하고, 곡률 방향을 따라 추출된 점들을 연결하여 특징 선을 생성한다. 여러 가지 다각형 모델에서 실험을 하였고 기존 방법보다 빠르며 높은 품질의 특징 선을 추출한다.

64채널 디지털 보청기의 In-situ에 의한 휘팅 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Fitting of 64 Channel Digital Hearing Aid by In-situ Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 64채널 디지털 보청기의 주파수 채널 별 비선형 압축을 위한 휘팅 기법을 연구하였다. 청력 검사 결과로부터 수행되는 기존의 휘팅 포뮬라 기법과 달리, 귓속형 보청기를 사용자가 외이도에 착용한 상태에서 고막에서의 청력 역치를 측정하여 이를 휘팅에 적용하였다. 또한 외부 음성 음압의 주파수 별 분포도를 활용하여 입력 음압 대비 출력 음압 압축 곡선을 구현하였다. FFT-iFFT 방식의 이론적 압축 연구 결과를 실험적으로도 검증하였으며, 입력음압 레벨이 각각 50 dB, 70 dB, 90 dB일 때의 증폭 이득 곡선을 보여주었다.

Error Compensation Algorithm for Higher Surface Accuracy of Freeform Mirrors Based On the Method of Least Squares

  • Off-axis reflective optical systems have attractive advantages relative to their on-axis or refractive counterparts, for example, zero chromatic aberration, no obstruction, and a wide field of view. For the efficient operation of off-axis reflective system, the surface accuracy of freeform mirrors should be higher than the order of wavelengths at which the reflective optical systems operate. Especially for applications in shorter wavelength regions, such as visible and ultraviolet, higher surface accuracy of freeform mirrors is required to minimize the light scattering. In this work, we propose the error compensation algorithm (ECA) for the correction of wavefront errors on freeform mirrors. The ECA converts a form error pattern into polynomial expression by fitting a least square method. The error pattern is measured by using an ultra-high accurate 3-D profilometer (UA3P, Panasonic Corp.). The measured data are fitted by two fitting models: Sag (Delta Z) data model and form (Z) data model. To evaluate fitting accuracy of these models, we compared the fitted error patterns with the measured error pattern.

유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 윤곽선 추출 (Edge Detection using Genetic Algorithm)

  • 기존의 윤곽선 추출 방법은 중첩된 두꺼운 선으로 추출되어 물체의 실제 경계선을정확하게 표시하지를 못하거나 윤곽선에 끊어짐이 많아 연결성이 떨어지는 문제점을 지니고있었다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 윤곽선 추출에 유전자 알고리즘을 적용하였으며 에너지 함수는 픽셀의 윤곽선 만족도를 수치로 산정해 주는 식으로 함수로 화상구조 형에 대한 평가 에너지와 이웃 윤곽선과의 연속성에 대한 평가 에너지, 윤곽선이 정확한 위치에 1 픽셀로 나타냈는지에 대한 평가함수로 구성하였다. 제안된 방법은 기존의 방법에 비해 잡음제거에 우수하였고 또한 연결성이 강하고 최적의 위치에 놓인 픽셀을 찾음으로서 보다 선명하고 정확한 윤곽선 추출을 가능케 하였다.

링 프레임형 초음파 센서의 포물선 피팅에 의한 장애물 식별 (Obstacle Identification by Parabolic Curve Fitting using Ultrasonic Sensors Arranged on Ring Frame)

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm for ultrasonic sensors arranged on ring frame to identify obstacles surrounding itself by TOFs (time of flight). The ring frame has multiple channels consisting of a transmitter and a receiver. When the transmitter of a selected channel transmits ultrasonic signal, the TOFs of reflected signals from obstacles are acquired by the receiver of the channel. The process continues for all channels consecutively. Then, by using parabolic curve fitting of TOFs of all channel, the proposed algorithm not only calculates distances from multiple obstacles, but also identifies if the shape of obstacles are point or plane by the coefficients of the curve. By the experiment using 16 ultrasonic transceivers on the ring frame in the environment of two poles and two planes, we show the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

최적 타원 생성 알고리즘 기반 2상 기포 유동 영상 처리 기법 (Image processing method of two-phase bubbly flow using ellipse fitting algorithm)

  • In this study, an image processing method for the measurement of two-phase bubbly flow is developed. Shadowgraphy images obtained by high-speed camera are used for analysis. Some bubbles are generated as single unit and others are overlapped or clustered. Single bubbles can be easily analyzed using parameters such as bubble shape, centroid, and area. But overlapped bubbles are difficult to transform clustered bubbles into segmented bubbles. Several approaches were proposed for the bubble segmentation such as Hough transform, connection point method and watershed. These methods are not enough for bubble segmentation. In order to obtain the size distribution of bubbles, we present a method of splitting overlapping bubbles using watershed and approximating them to ellipse. There is only 5% error difference between manual and automatic analysis. Furthermore, the error can be reduced down to 1.2% when a correction factor is used. The ellipse fitting algorithm developed in this study can be used to measure bubble parameters accurately by reflecting the shape of the bubbles.

Visual Object Tracking using Surface Fitting for Scale and Rotation Estimation

  • Since correlation filter appeared in the field of object tracking, it plays an increasingly vital role due to its excellent performance. Although many sophisticated trackers have been successfully applied to track the object accurately, very few of them attaches importance to the scale and rotation estimation. In order to address the above limitation, we propose a novel method combined with Fourier-Mellin transform and confidence evaluation strategy for robust object tracking. In the first place, we construct a correlation filter to locate the target object precisely. Then, a log-polar technique is used in the Fourier-Mellin transform to cope with the rotation and scale changes. In order to achieve subpixel accuracy, we come up with an efficient surface fitting mechanism to obtain the optimal calculation result. In addition, we introduce a confidence evaluation strategy modeled on the output response, which can decrease the impact of image noise and perform as a criterion to evaluate the target model stability. Experimental experiments on OTB100 demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves superior capability in success plots and precision plots of OPE, which is 10.8% points and 8.6% points than those of KCF. Besides, our method performs favorably against the others in terms of SRE and TRE validation schemes, which shows the superiority of our proposed algorithm in scale and rotation evaluation.

  • This paper suggests user interface method with wearable computer by means of detecting gaze under HMD, head mounted display, environment. System is derived as follows; firstly, calibrate a camera in HMD, which determines geometrical relationship between monitor and captured image. Second, detect the center of pupil using ellipse fitting algorithm and represent a gazing position on the computer screen. If user blinks or stares at a certain position for a while, message is sent to wearable computer. Experimental results show ellipse fitting is robust against glint effects, and detecting error was 6.5%, and 4.25% in vertical and horizontal direction, respectively.

  • A direct method for fitting analysis-of-variance models to unbalanced data is presented. This method exploits sparsity and rank deficiency of the matrix and is based on Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of a set of sparse columns of the model matrix. The computational algorithm of the sum of squares for testing estmable hyphotheses is given.

  • A computational algorithm is developed for fitting given data in the plane or in 3-space by implicitly defined quadrics. Implicity implies that the type of the quadric is part of the model and need not be known in advance. Starting with some estimate for the coefficients of the quadric the method will alternatively determine the shortest distances from the given points onto the quadric and adapt the coefficients such as to reduce the sum of those squared distances. Numerical examples are given.
