도로포장용 아스콘으로 슁글의 재활용 (Recycling of Shingle Waste for Pavement Asphalt Concrete)

  • 슁글 중 함유된 아스팔트 성분의 재활용 기술의 개발은 슁글의 처리 비용의 감소와 경제적인 측면에서 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 아스팔트 슁글을 도로 포장용 아스콘으로 재활용하기 위한 기초적인 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 순수한 아스팔트분과 재활용된 아스팔트 혼합물의 열적 특성, 점성 그리고 침입도를 측정하였다. 연구 결과 다음과 같은 몇 가지 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. DSC 분석에 의하면 처리 조건에 관계없이 분리된 슁글의 열적 특성은 유사한 결과를 보였다. 또한 슁글에서 분리된 아스팔트분의 멜팅은 $170^{\circ}C$ 부근에서 발생하였다. 분리된 아스팔트분을 중량비로 1~5% 까지 혼합한 후에 침입도를 측정한 결과 도로 포장용 아스팔트분의 기준에 적합한 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

중소규모 사업장용 안전보건경영시스템의 인증 심사방법 개발 (Development of the Judgment Method of the Occupational Safety & Health Management System for Small & Medium Enterprises)

  • The present management of the domestic and international advanced enterprises is transferring the systems and the regulations to the prevention system management. Expecially, KOSHA (Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency) in Korea has supported to set up the OSHMS (Occupational Safety & Health Management System) by KOSHA 18001 since 1997. But small & medium enterprises (SMS) has many difficulties to set up the OSHMS system because of limited natural and human resources. In this study, the rating system as a judgment method of an OSHMS based on the certification standard of the OSHMS, which was suggested in previous study, was developed for SMS to adopt voluntarily the OSHMS, certify KOSHA 18001, and improve the safety and health level.

보존처리실 신설시 고려 사항 (Things To Be Considered for a New Conservation Laboratory)

  • 문화재 보존실은 문화재 병원과 같은 시설임에도 불구하고, 일반 사무실과 같은 기준에 따라 신설되는 것이 보통이다. 여기서는 보존실 신설시 고려해야 할 사항과 일반적인 조건들을 건축, 전기 및 조명, 공조, 소방, 기기분야로 구분해 간략하게 제시하였다. 이와함께 보존실 업무의 특성이 반영된 작업공간을 창출하는 요령으로서 처리실의 공간구획을 작업대를 기준으로 하고 기자재 배치시 상하수도 및 공조시설을 기준으로 하는 방법을 설명하였다. 처리실의 업무와 성격이 다양해 여기서 제시한 기준과 요령을 모든 경우에 적용하기는 어렵겠지만, 이러한 조건을 이해한 뒤 해당 보존실 업무의 전문성과 기능에 적당한 기준을 제시함으로서 처리실 신설계획 수립에 도움이 되었으면 한다.

두부 손상 보호를 위한 승객용 헬멧 개발 연구 (The Research on the Development of Passenger Helmet to Prevent Head Trauma)

  • Introduction : Head trauma is the main cause of death in aircraft crash. In a Michigan study of structurally survivable, fatal accidents, 80% of the fatally injured had received head trauma. We tried to develop a new helmet for passengers, and perform its efficiency test. Methods : An aircraft helmet requires an excellent protection against head trauma, lightness, and small volumes. In addition, it must be wearable, fire resistant, and non toxic when it is burning. We developed two new helmets made from silicone foam which met all theses requirements. One was thin (2.5cm), and the other was thick (6.3cm). These looked like a motorcycle helmet and had only a soft silicone as liner material without an outer hard shell. Therefore we can carry them easily inside aircrafts. The standard test for helmet is Snell's drop test. It measures the impact acceleration of head shaped metal wearing helmet during we drop it at certain heights. Impact sites were total 5 sites (front, back, right, left and top) for each helmet. All these sites were impacted twice. Results : The thickness of impact sites varied from 2.5cm to 6.3cm. The impact acceleration of 2.5cm thickness site when it was dropped from 1.0 meter was 379g. But, that of 6.3cm thickness site when it was dropped from 1.5 meter was only 163g. Unfortunately, both helmets didn't meet the Snell Standard for motorcycle helmets. Discussion : If we add suitable outer hard shell, and change its thickness and design, the efficiency will be increased. A study indicated that helmet could reduce the risk of head trauma up to 85%. We made helmet for passengers in aircraft crash for the first time. If we improve its weak points, it will decrease the frequency of head trauma in aircraft craft.

강원도 지역의 용도별 토양의 수소이온농도 및 중금속 오염 평가 (A Study on the Characteristical Evaluation of pH and Heavy Metals Concentrations of Soil in the Gangwon-do)

  • 본 연구는 강원도 지역의 토양환경을 평가하기 위하여 측정망 167개 지점의 토양시료를 분석하여 pH와 중금속에 관한 오염도 조사를 수행하였다. 전체 토양의 pH의 범위는 4.3~8.4로 나타났으며, 중금속의 경우 Cd 0.089 mg/kg (0.000~3.493 mg/kg), Cu 3.093 mg/kg (0.078~60.263 mg/kg), Pb 4.74 mg/kg (0.010~38.080 mg/kg), Hg 0.054 mg/kg (0.002~1.050 mg/kg), As 0.971 mg/kg (0.031~77.051 mg/kg)으로 나타나으며,$Cr^{6+}$은 검출되지 않았다. 중금속 오염에 의한 토양의 상태를 종합적으로 판단할 때 토양의 우려기준에 크게 못 미침으로 강원도의 토양은 비교적 청정한 것으로 나타났다.

기계 환기시스템의 실내 환기성능 특성 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristic Analysis for Indoor Ventilation Performance of Mechanical Ventilation System)

  • 본 연구는 실내 쾌적성 제어를 위하여 룸 에어컨의 환기성능을 분석한다. 실험장치는 환경공조챔버, 룸 에어컨, 추적가스 측정시스템, 급기팬과 제어기로 구성된다. 환기성능은 ASTM Standard E741-83 기준에 근거하여 환경공조챔버 내 CO2 추적가스기법을 사용한 체강법에 의해 재실자와 급기 환기량에 따라 평가된다. 급기 환기량 증가에 따라 환기성능이 증가함을 파악하였으며 재실자가 없는 경우 CO2 가스는 빠르게 감소하며 이때의 환기성능은 55%까지 증가한다. 그리고 1명의 재실자가 있는 경우 1시간 경과후 급기량 570 lpm에서 환기성능은 자연감쇠와 비교하여 25%까지 증가한다. 실험 데이터를 사용하여 환경공조챔버 내 룸 에어컨의 환기성능 모델링을 도출하였다.

우리나라의 항만국통제 제도의 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Port State Control in Korea)

  • To ensure ship's safety and preserve the marine environment from ship, IMO(International Maritime Organization) has been making much efforts. Nevertheless there are still many possibilities threatening ship's safety and the marine environment. Many vessels navigate at sea in lack of standard required by the International Convention relevant to ship's safety and the protection of marine environment. Even though the administration is responsible for perfect and continuous control for safety of ship, it cannot has jurisdiction over ships hoist its flag reasonably at all times. So the Port State has strengthened the Port State Control(PSC) activity as one step of eliminating sub-standard vessels. In the light of the fact that mentioned above, this study deals with PSC activity in Korea and port of Pusan. Total 582 ships, inspected in port of Pusan from 1st January 1998 to 30th September 1999, were analyzed in various aspect and extracted results as follows : \circled1 The inspection rate in Korea was much lower than the other states taking part in Tokyo MOU, \circled2 For flag state, the ships belong to flag of convenience(FOC) had much more deficiencies than non-convenience flag ships, \circled3 For ship type, 39 number of general dry cargo ship were detained at Pusan with serious deficiencies, \circled4 For deficiency item, the items such as life saving appliances, safety in general, navigation, load lines and fire-fighting appliances were occupied over 71.7% of total number of deficiencies, \circled5 In Asia-Pacific region, Korea was one of flags with detention percentages exceeding 3-year(1996~1998) rolling average detention percentage. Average detention rate of Korean vessels was 6.73% which was over 0.24% of average detention rate(6.49%) in Asia-Pacific region. These results may reflect to improve the performance of PSC inspection for foreign vessels and are useful for preparing PSC inspection for ocean-going ships registered in Korea.

Ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol 그리고 2,2,4-trimethylpentane 이성분 혼합계에 대한 인화점 측정 (Measurement of flash point for binary mixtures of Ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol and 2,2,4-trimethylpentane)

  • 산업현장에서 액체의 화재 및 폭발 위험을 결정하는데 사용되는 가장 중요한 변수 중 하나인 인화점은 가연 물질에 대한 화재 위험성을 나타내는 지표이며 위험물의 안전성 평가를 위한 중요한 정보로 활용된다. 본 연구의 목적은 석유 화학 공정에서 아주 중요한 용매로 사용되는 알킬 알코올과 함께 파라핀계 탄화수소의 대표적인 화합물인 2,2,4-trimethylpentane을 포함하는 이성분 혼합물인 {ethanol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane}, {1-propanol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane} 그리고 {2-propanol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane} 계에 대한 인화점을 Stanhope-Seta 밀폐식 인화점 측정기를 이용하여 측정하였다. 각 이성분계 혼합물에 대한 인화점을 예측하기 위해 Raoult's의 법칙, Wilson, NRTL 그리고 UNIQUAC 파라미터를 이용하였고 실험 결과와 비교해 보았다. 비교 결과 Raoult's의 법칙을 제외하고 모든 실험값과 예측값과 실험값은 최대 편차가 1.28 K이내의 결과로 유사함을 보였다. 또한 측정된 모든 계에서 최소인화점은 발견되지 않았다.

Current Status of Tire Recycling in Taiwan

  • There are more than 15 millions cars or motors in Taiwan. According to the statistics from Environmental Protection Administration, the number of resulting scrap tires are near 110 thousand tons each year. The tire recycle programs in Taiwan were first conducted in 1989 and executed by ROC Scrap Tire Foundation. However, the current efficiency of the tire recycling industry still needs to be improved to minimize the environmental problem or fire hazards caused by scrap tires storage. Ten major tire-recycling factories are surveyed in this study. The investigations include the source of scrap tire, the shredding process, the market of products, the management of wastes disposal, and the difficulties of these sectors. As the varieties of the shredding machines of the recycle factories, there are three kinds of final products which include powder, granular, and chips. The wastes, wires and fibers, produced by the shredding process are the major problems fur all the factories. The percentage of the wire and fiber removal from rubbers still needs to be increased. The best approaches found in this study to increase the efficiency of scrap tire recycling processes are proposed which include the improvement of magnetic separation system fiber/rubber separation system and the minimization of waste disposal. A categorized standard of the processing outputs is suggested as a reference for the decision-making of the tire-recycling factories.

도로의 축광차선 도료 개발을 위한 축광안료 최적 배합비 산정에 관한 연구 (Determination of Optimal Mixing Ratio of Phosphorescent Pigment to Develop Phosphorescent Paint for Road Line Marking)

  • PURPOSES : This study was conducted to derive the optimum mixing ratio of phosphorescent pigment for the development of phosphorescent line marking. METHODS: In this study, we utilized a literature review and case study methodology, to describe the domestic and foreign state of practice for the production and mixing of phosphorescent pigment for use in line marking. The optimal mixing ratio was derived by comparing the reduction in luminance over time for the various phosphorescent pigment mixing ratios identified in the literature. In addition, performance and construction characteristics were analyzed using field testing techniques. RESULTS : The results were as follows: 1) the results of the luminance performance standards tests showed that all of the phosphorescence test specimens satisfied the phosphorescent fire protection standard. As the phosphorescent pigment mixing ratio increased, the luminance value increased, 2) the luminance reduction rate was minimum at the mixing ratio of 50%. However, when compared to a mixing ratio 40%, a small difference was recorded, the luminance reduction rate from the mixing ratio of 40% is judged as being converged. Therefore, in view of the economic efficiency, it was determined that the optimal mixing ratio was 40%, 3) as a result of construction on the field, a mixing ratio of 40% was found to have a higher luminance value than the general line marking for up to three hours after sunset, 4) it was found that the phosphorescent line markings without glass beads spraying had a higher luminance value than the phosphorescent line markings with glass beads spraying. CONCLUSIONS : Through the results of the basic experiments of the line markings obtained by blending a phosphorescent pigment, the results could be applied to play an important role in the development of phosphorescent line marking paint technology and in establishing application planning for on-site construction characteristics.
