  • In this paper we investigate the upper bound on the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of a graded module with linear free presentation. Let M be a finitely generated graded module over a polynomial ring R with zero dimensional support. We prove that if M is generated by elements of degree $d{\geq}0$ with a linear free presentation $$\bigoplus^p{R}(-d-1)\longrightarrow^{\phi}\bigoplus^q{R}(-d){\longrightarrow}M{\longrightarrow}0$$, then the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of M is at most d+q-1. As an important application, we can prove vector bundle technique, which was used in [11], [13], [17] as a tool for obtaining several remarkable results.

  • A module M over an associative ring R with unity is a QTAG-module if every finitely generated submodule of any homomorphic image of M is a direct sum of uniserial modules. Recently, the authors introduced the classes of QTAG-modules namely as socle-regular and strongly socle-regular QTAG-modules which properly contain the classes of transitive and fully transitive QTAG-modules respectively. Here we define strongly and quasi transitivities and study the inter relations between various type of transitivities.

  • Let M be a module over a commutative ring R. In this paper, we study Int(R, M), the module of integer-valued polynomials on M over R, and IntM(R), the ring of integer-valued polynomials on R over M. We establish some properties of Krull dimensions of Int(R, M) and IntM(R). We also determine when Int(R, M) and IntM(R) are nontrivial. Among the other results, it is shown that Int(ℤ, M) is not Noetherian module over IntM(ℤ) ∩ Int(ℤ), where M is a finitely generated ℤ-module.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity. If the nilpotent radical N il(R) of R is a divided prime ideal, then R is called a ϕ-ring. Let R be a ϕ-ring and S be a multiplicative subset of R. In this paper, we introduce and study the class of nonnil-S-coherent rings, i.e., the rings in which all finitely generated nonnil ideals are S-finitely presented. Also, we define the concept of ϕ-S-coherent rings. Among other results, we investigate the S-version of Chase's result and Chase Theorem characterization of nonnil-coherent rings. We next study the possible transfer of the nonnil-S-coherent ring property in the amalgamated algebra along an ideal and the trivial ring extension.

  • Let 𝖆 and 𝖇 be ideals of a commutative Noetherian ring R and M a finitely generated R-module of finite dimension d > 0. In this paper, we obtain some results about the annihilators and attached primes of top local cohomology and top formal local cohomology modules. In particular, we determine Ann(𝖇 Hd𝖆(M)), Att(𝖇 Hd𝖆(M)), Ann(𝖇𝔉d𝖆(M)) and Att(𝖇𝔉d𝖆(M)).

  • A submodule N of a right R-module M is called coneat if for every simple right R-module S, any homomorphism $N{\rightarrow}S$ can be extended to a homomorphism $M{\rightarrow}S$. M is called coneat-flat if the kernel of any epimorphism $Y{\rightarrow}M{\rightarrow}0$ is coneat in Y. It is proven that (1) coneat submodules of any right R-module are coclosed if and only if R is right K-ring; (2) every right R-module is coneat-flat if and only if R is right V -ring; (3) coneat submodules of right injective modules are exactly the modules which have no maximal submodules if and only if R is right small ring. If R is commutative, then a module M is coneat-flat if and only if $M^+$ is m-injective. Every maximal left ideal of R is finitely generated if and only if every absolutely pure left R-module is m-injective. A commutative ring R is perfect if and only if every coneat-flat module is projective. We also study the rings over which coneat-flat and flat modules coincide.

  • Commutative rings in which every prime ideal is an intersection of maximal ideals are called Hilbert (or Jacobson) rings. We propose to define classical Hilbert modules by the property that classical prime submodules are intersections of maximal submodules. It is shown that all co-semisimple modules as well as all Artinian modules are classical Hilbert modules. Also, every module over a zero-dimensional ring is classical Hilbert. Results illustrating connections amongst the notions of classical Hilbert module and Hilbert ring are also provided. Rings R over which all modules are classical Hilbert are characterized. Furthermore, we determine the Noetherian rings R for which all finitely generated R-modules are classical Hilbert.

  • Let M be a finitely generated module over a regular local ring (R, n). We will fix an n-stable filtration for M and show that the minimal free resolution of M can be obtained from any filtered free resolution of M by zero and negative consecutive cancellations. This result is analogous to [10, Theorem 3.1] in the more general context of filtered free resolutions. Taking advantage of this generality, we will study resolutions obtained by the mapping cone technique and find a sufficient condition for the minimality of such resolutions. Next, we give another application in the graded setting. We show that for a monomial order ${\sigma}$, Betti numbers of I are obtained from those of $LT_{\sigma}(I)$ by so-called zero ${\sigma}$-consecutive cancellations. This provides a stronger version of the well-known cancellation "cancellation principle" between the resolution of a graded ideal and that of its leading term ideal, in terms of filtrations defined by monomial orders.

  • Let I be an ideal of a commutative Noetherian semi-local ring R and M be an R-module. It is shown that if dim M ≤ 2 and SuppR M ⊆ V (I), then M is I-weakly cofinite if (and only if) the R-modules HomR(R/I, M) and Ext1R(R/I, M) are weakly Laskerian. As a consequence of this result, it is shown that the category of all I-weakly cofinite modules X with dim X ≤ 2, forms an Abelian subcategory of the category of all R-modules. Finally, it is shown that if dim R/I ≤ 2, then for each pair of finitely generated R-modules M and N and each pair of the integers i, j ≥ 0, the R-modules TorRi(N, HjI(M)) and ExtiR(N, HjI(M)) are I-weakly cofinite.

  • Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K, M a torsion-free D-module, X an indeterminate, and $N_v=\{f{\in}D[X]|c(f)_v=D\}$. Let $q(M)=M{\otimes}_D\;K$ and $M_{w_D}$={$x{\in}q(M)|xJ{\subseteq}M$ for a nonzero finitely generated ideal J of D with $J_v$ = D}. In this paper, we show that $M_{w_D}=M[X]_{N_v}{\cap}q(M)$ and $(M[X])_{w_{D[X]}}{\cap}q(M)[X]=M_{w_D}[X]=M[X]_{N_v}{\cap}q(M)[X]$. Using these results, we prove that M is a strong Mori D-module if and only if M[X] is a strong Mori D[X]-module if and only if $M[X]_{N_v}$ is a Noetherian $D[X]_{N_v}$-module. This is a generalization of the fact that D is a strong Mori domain if and only if D[X] is a strong Mori domain if and only if $D[X]_{N_v}$ is a Noetherian domain.
