  • In order to reduce blocking artifacts and improve compression efficiency, H.264/AVC standard employs an adaptive in-loop deblocking filter. This paper proposes a new hardware architecture of the deblocking filter that employs a four-stage pipelined structure with an efficient data distribution. The proposed architecture allows a simultaneous supply of eight data samples to fully utilize the pipelined filter in both horizontal and vertical filterings. This paper also presents a new filtering order and data reuse scheme between consecutive macroblock filterings to reduce the communication for external memory access. The number of required cycles for filtering one macroblock (MB) is 357 cycles when the proposed filter uses dual port SRAMs. This execution speed is only 41.3% of that of the fastest previous work.

  • In this paper, we research the method for HDD I/O Performance improvement by Filter Driver & NAND FLASH Memory. This paper was started from NAND Flash Memory can not be replaced by HDD because of high cost. So We consider that using NAND Flash Memory as cache for HDD. It can be achieved high HDD Performance through Filter Driver by low cost.

  • This paper proposes an LCL-filter design for space vector pulse width modulation (SVM) in grid-connected three-phase inverter systems. Although there are a several studies in progress, the existing methods are erroneous because they do not focus on the other switching methods. This paper presents the design methodology for an LCL-filter that is optimized for SVM switching operations. The design procedure for the LCL-filter is presented step-by-step. The inverter-side inductor was determined by an analysis of the ripple components, mathematically. Based on the reactive power absorption ratio, the filter capacitor was determined. The grid-side inductor was determined by the ripple attenuation factor of the output current. Experimental results verify the validity of the design method for the LCL-filter.

  • This paper presents a double-sharpened decimation filter based on the application of a Kaiser and Hamming sharpening technique for multistandard wireless systems. The proposed double-sharpened decimation filter uses a pre-droop compensator which improves the passband response of a conventional cascaded integrator-comb filter so that it provides an efficient sharpening performance at half-speed with comparison to conventional sharpened filters. In this paper, the passband droop characteristics with compensation provides -1.6 dB for 1.25 MHz, -1.4 dB for 2.5 MHz, -1.3 dB for 5 MHz, and -1.0 dB for 10 MHz bandwidths, respectively. These results demonstrate that the proposed double-sharpened decimation filter is suitable for multistandard wireless applications.

  • This paper proposes a design scheme for an LCL-filter used for the three-parallel operation of the power converters in high-capacity wind turbines. The designs of the power devices and grid connected filter are difficult due to the high level voltages and currents in huge-capacity wind turbines. To solve these problem, this paper presents three-parallel operation and LCL-filter design techniques optimized by parallel operation. Furthermore, the design of an inverter side inductance of the LCL-filter is discussed in detail considering the switching modulation method. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the designed filter and wind turbines.

  • A dual-mode asymmetric canonical filter is widely used in an input demultiplexer for satellite transponder. This paper deals with a simple synthesis method fur an asymmetric canonical filter. The coupling matrix of an asymmetric canonical filter is obtained by applying plane rotation technique to the coupling matrix of a symmetric canonical filter. This paper gives a list of pivots and rotation angles to obtain the coupling matrix of asymmetric canonical structure filters. The coupling matrix of 8th and 10th order asymmetric canonical filter is obtained by this proposed method. It is shown that the frequency response of asymmetric canonical filter is identical to that of symmetric canonical filter.

  • In this paper, the observability of the INS/GPS integrated system for a land vehicle is analyzed on measurements and different filters with respect to the measurements are designed. In the stationary case, it is shown that horizontal accelerometer biases and vertical attitude errors and gyro biases are unobservable. An 8-state filter is designed based on the observability analysis. When GPS signal is available, a 15-state filter is used with position and velocity measurements. To estimate the INS errors even in the case that GPS signal is blocked a filter is designed in consideration of the non-holonomic constraints of a land vehicle. In this case, the horizontal position and velocity errors and vertical attitude error are unobservable. However, a 12-state filter including the velocity states is designed to estimate the accelerometer biases. When GPS signal recovers, a 9-state filter is used excluding the sensor biases. This paper presents a multi-dimensional filter that switches the four filters according to the usable measurements and maneuver environments. A simulation is carried out to verify the performance of the proposed filter.

  • In this paper, we propose a parallelization method for a High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) deblocking filter with transform unit (TU) split information. HEVC employs a deblocking filter to boost perceptual quality and coding efficiency. The deblocking filter was designed for data-level parallelism. In this paper, we demonstrate a method of distributing equal workloads to all cores or threads by anticipating the deblocking filter complexity based on the coding unit depth and TU split information. We determined that the average time saving of our proposed deblocking filter parallelization method has a speed-up factor that is 2% better than that of the uniformly distributed parallel deblocking filter, and 6% better than that of coding tree unit row distribution parallelism. In addition, we determined that the speed-up factor of our proposed deblocking filter parallelization method, in terms of percentage run-time, is up to 3.1 compared to the run-time of the HEVC test model 12.0 deblocking filter with a sequential implementation.

  • In this paper, a new design method for coupled-line filters with tapped input/output has been developed. The design equations for this tapped filter have been obtained using a new equivalent circuit model of tapped lines. From an edge coupled-line filter, tapped lines replaces the input/output coupled lines which tend to have very narrow gaps (few mils). Therefore, tapped coupled-line filters tend to be less sensitive to filter fabrication tolerances and to be easily fabricated using milling tools. The new filter design algorithm allows very accurate filter design for frequencies less than 20 GHz and bandwidth less than 20%. Above 20 GHz, the filter performance can be optimized starting from the filter design algorithm in this paper. Simulation problems with 2-D EM tools to characterize filter performance at high frequencies have shown to be solved by providing a channel for the filter to eliminate higher order modes.

  • In this paper, we propose an enhancement of the ultrasonic image for non-destructive inspection of aircraft composite materials. The ultrasonic images are corrupted by a speckle noise which has the characteristic of granular pattern noise and is in all types of coherent imaging systems, the signal independent and multiplicative noise. In this paper, we derive a filter, called the AWLF(Adaptive Window Log Filter), from the nature of the speckle. The filter is made of the MEAN Filter in the edge region and Log Filter in the flat or noise region. To make a distinction between edge and flat region, we calculate the inclination around the local window instead of computing the local statistics of pixels such as local mean ${\bar{M}}$ and standard deviation ${\sigma}_s$. According to the obtained region, edge region is performed by the mean filter and flat region by the Log filter. Performance of the proposed filter is evaluated by the Enhanced Factor$(F_e)$ and the Speckle Index(SI).
