Pitch Detection Using Variable Bandwidth LPF (가변 대역폭 LPF를 이용한 피치 검출)

  • In speech signal processing, it is very important to detect the pitch exactly. Although various methods for detecting the pitch of speech signals have been developed, it is difficult to exactly extract the pitch for wide range of speakers and various utterances. Thus we propose a new pitch detection algorithm which takes advantage of the G-peak extraction. It is a method to detect the pitch period of the voiced signals by finding MZCI (maximum zero-crossing interval) of the G-peak which is defined as cut-off bandwidth rate of LPF (low pass filter). This algorithm performs robustly with a gross error rate of 3.63% even in 0 dB SNR environement. The gross error rate for clean speech is only 0.18%. Also it is able to process all courses with high speed.

  • The maritime industry is expanding at an alarming rate and as such there is a perpetual need to improve situation awareness in the maritime environment using new and emerging technology. Tracking is one of the numerous ways of enhancing situation awareness by providing information that may be useful to the operator. The tracking system described herein comprises determining existing states of own ship, state prediction and state compensation caused by random noise. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of tracking and develop a tracking algorithm by using ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ tracking filter under a random noise or irregular motion for use in a warship. The algorithm involves initializing the input parameters of position, velocity and course. The actual positions are then computed for each time interval. In addition, a weighted difference of the observed and predicted position at the nth observation is added to the predicted position to obtain the smoothed position. This estimation is subsequently employed to determine the predicted position at (n+1). The smoothed values, predicted values and the observed values are used to compute the twice distance root mean square (2drms) error as a measure of accuracy of the tracking module.

ESTIMATION OF ERRORS IN THE TRANSVERSE VELOCITY VECTORS DETERMINED FROM HINODE/SOT MAGNETOGRAMS USING THE NAVE TECHNIQUE

  • Transverse velocity vectors can be determined from a pair of images successively taken with a time interval using an optical flow technique. We have tested the performance of the new technique called NAVE (non-linear affine velocity estimator) recently implemented by Chae & Sakurai using real image data taken by the Narrowband Filter Imager (NFI) of the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) aboard the Hinode satellite. We have developed two methods of estimating the errors in the determination of velocity vectors, one resulting from the non-linear fitting ${\sigma}_{\upsilon}$ and the other ${\epsilon}_u$ resulting from the statistics of the determined velocity vectors. The real error is expected to be somewhere between ${\sigma}_{\upsilon}$ and ${\epsilon}_u$. We have investigated the dependence of the determined velocity vectors and their errors on the different parameters such as the critical speed for the subsonic filtering, the width of the localizing window, the time interval between two successive images, and the signal-to-noise ratio of the feature. With the choice of $v_{crit}$ = 2 pixel/step for the subsonic filtering, and the window FWHM of 16 pixels, and the time interval of one step (2 minutes), we find that the errors of velocity vectors determined using the NAVE range from around 0.04 pixel/step in high signal-to-noise ratio features (S/N $\sim$ 10), to 0.1 pixel/step in low signa-to-noise ratio features (S/N $\sim$ 3) with the mean of about 0.06 pixel/step where 1 pixel/step corresponds roughly to 1 km/s in our case.

Study on R-peak Detection Algorithm of Arrhythmia Patients in ECG (심전도 신호에서 부정맥 환자의 R파 검출 알고리즘 연구)

  • ECG consists of various types of electrical signal on the heart, and feature point of these signals can be detected by analyzing the arrhythmia. So far, feature points extraction method for the detection of arrhythmia done in the many studies. However, it is not suitable for portable device using real time operation due to complicated operation. In this paper, R-peak were extracted using R-R interval and QRS width informations on patients. First, noise of low frequency bands eliminated using butterworth filter, and the R-peak was extracted by R-R interval moving average and QRS width moving average. In order to verify, it was experimented to compare the R-peak of data in MIT-BIH arrhythmia database and the R-peak of suggested algorithm. As a results, it showed an excellent detection for feature point of R-peak, even during the process of operation could be efficient way to confirm.

OFDM/OQAM-IOTA System (OFDM/OQAM-IOTA 시스템)

  • Although conventional OFDM/QAM modulation scheme using guard interval is robust to channel induced ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) in time-domain, it is very sensitive to ICI (Inter-Carrier Interference) due to doppler effect in frequency domain. OFDM/OQAM-IOTA modulation scheme utilizes IOTA (Isotropic Orthogonal Transform Algorithm) filter that has orthogonality in time and frequency domain so that it is robust to delay spread and doppler effect. OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system can increase bandwidth effeciency since it does not use guard interval. In this paper, we show the structure of OFDM/OQAM-IOTA and perfect channel estimation scheme for OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system. We also compare OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system and OFDM/QAM system in AWGN and 1-path Rayleigh fading channel. Simulation results show that OFDM/OQAM system outperforms OFDM/QAM system.

  • This paper describes a development of efficient stress ECG signal analysis algorithm. The algorithm consists of wavelet adaptive filter(WAF), QRS detector and ST segment detector. The WAF consists of a wavelet transform and an adaptive filter. The wavelet transform decomposed the ECG signal into seven levels using wavelet function for each high frequency bank and low frequency bank. The adaptive filter used the signal of the seventh lowest frequency band among the wavelet transformed signals as primary input. For detection of QRS complex, we made summed signals that are composed of high frequency bands including frequency component of QRS complex and applied the adaptive threshold method changing the amplitude of threshold according to RR interval. For evaluation of the performance of the WAF, we used two baseline wandering elimination filters including a standard filter and a general adaptive filter. WAF showed a better performance than compared filters in the noise elimination characteristics and signal distortion. For evaluation of WAF showed a better performance than compared filters in the noise elimination characteristics and signal distortion. For evaluation of results of QRS complex detection, we compared our algorithm with existing algorithms using MIT/BIH database. Our algorithm using summed signals showed the accuracy of 99.67% and the higher performance of QRS detection than existing algorithms. Also, we used European ST-T database and patient data to evaluate measurement of the ST segment and could measure the ST segment adaptively according to change of heart rate.

  • The digital phase-locked loops(DPLL) is a circuit used for phase synchronization and has been generally used in various fields such as communication and circuit fields. State estimators are used to design digital phase-locked loops, and infinite impulse response state estimators such as the well-known Kalman filter have been used. In general, the performance of the infinite impulse response state estimator-based digital phase-locked loop is excellent, but a sudden performance degradation may occur in unexpected situations such as inaccuracy of initial value, model error, and disturbance. In this paper, we propose a minimum variance finite impulse response filter with optimal horizon for designing a new digital phase-locked loop. A numerical method is introduced to obtain the measured value interval length, which is an important parameter of the proposed finite impulse response filter, and to obtain a gain, the covariance matrix of the error is set as a cost function, and a linear matrix inequality is used to minimize it. In order to verify the superiority and robustness of the proposed digital phase-locked loop, a simulation was performed for comparison and analysis with the existing method in a situation where noise information was inaccurate.

  • When the current optical communication system is used for the DWDM, it raise the serious interference because an interval between the adjacent channels is narrow. The FBG filter for the DWDM is able to reduce the interferences between the adjacent channels. In this paper, therefore, we find the reflection spectrums for the three types of induced index changes, that is, uniform, Gaussian apodized, and raised-cosine apodized. From the obtained results in this paper, we can see that uniform FBG does not fit, and that the smaller the maximum induced index change ${\sigma}$ is and the larger the value of parameter C in the raised-cosine apodized FBG and G in the Gaussian apodized FBG are, the fitter they are on the narrow filter for DWDM. But, we can also see that the raised-cosine apodized FBG has more excellent property than the Gaussian apodized FBG because it has the narrower maximum reflection spectrum band and the lower sidelobes than the other.

Implementation of Self-Interference Signal Cancelation System in RF/Analog for In-Band Full Duplex (동일대역 전이중 통신을 위한 RF/아날로그 영역에서의 자기간섭 신호 제거 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, a system of self-interference signal cancelation for in-band full duplex has been implemented and tested in RF/analog region. The system performance has been evaluated with NI5791 platform and NI Flex RIO. Due to the low power level of the NI5791, the RF signal is amplified by SKYWORKS SE2565T power amplifier. A circulator is used to feed the antenna both the transmitter and receiver. The RF FIR filter is designed by twelve delay taps in two different groups, and the interval between each delay tap is designed to have 100 ps. The amplified signal is distributed to antenna and the FIR filter by use of a 10 dB directional coupler. The tap coefficients of the RF FIR filter are tuned to estimate the self-interference signal coming from antenna reflection and the leakage of the circulator, and the self-interference signal is subtracted. The system is test with 802.11a/g 20 MHz OFMD at 2.56 GHz, and the output power of the amplifier of 0 dBm. The self-interference signal is canceled out by 53 dB.

Non-Contact Gesture Recognition Algorithm for Smart TV Using Electric Field Disturbance (전기장 왜란을 이용한 비접촉 스마트 TV 제스처 인식 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose the non-contact gesture recognition algorithm using 4- channel electrometer sensor array. ELF(Extremely Low Frequency) EMI and PLN are minimized because ambient electromagnetic noise around sensors has a significant impact on entire data in indoor environments. In this study, we transform AC-type data into DC-type data by applying a 10Hz LPF as well as a maximum buffer value extracting algorithm considering H/W sampling rate. In addition, we minimize the noise with the Kalman filter and extract 2-dimensional movement information by taking difference value between two cross-diagonal deployed sensors. We implemented the DTW gesture recognition algorithm using extracted data and the time delayed information of peak values. Our experiment results show that average correct classification rate is over 95% on five-gesture scenario.
