강교용 박스거더의 용접예열 온도 선정에 관한 연구 (Determination of Preheating Temperature for Box Girder Welding)

  • This study analyzed causes and status of cracks to suggest preventives for welding cracks generated on fillet welding zone of atmosphere corrosion resisting steel box girder. Penetrant testing, a sort of non-destructive testing, was conducted for inspection of crack status on welding zone. As a result of test, welding cracks were found on the point of start, center and end to fillet welding zone of 32 mm-thickness. The result of carbon equivalent composition of materials was 0.452%. According to welding specification, to preheat prevent welding crack, preheat temperature of $100{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ should be kept before welding execution. It was failed to keep preheat temperature because it had been executed on winter season and the structure of box girder had wide heat transfer area. As a result of examination of time varying preheating temperature of 32mm-thickness material, it was understood that preheat temperature of above $230^{\circ}C$ on both 130mm-long sides of welded joint can prevent welding crack.

비선형 이동 경화모델을 이용한 십자형 필릿 용접부의 변형율 해석 (Notch Strain Analysis of Cruciform Welded Joint using Nonlinear Kinematic Hardening Model)

  • Several fatigue damages have recently been reported which cannot be resolved in the context of the existing fatigue design procedure, and they are suspected to be the cracks induced by the low cycle fatigue mechanism. To tackle the problem, a series of material tests together with fatigue tests have been carried out, and elasto-plastic notch strain analysis using nonlinear kinematic hardening model has been performed. The cyclic stress-strain curves are obtained and the nonlinear kinematic hardening model was calibrated based on the obtained material data. Also, the fatigue test with non-load-carrying cruciform fillet welded joint has been performed in low cycle fatigue regime. Then, the notch strain analyses have been carried out to find the precise elasto-plastic behavior of the material at the notch root of the cruciform joint. The variation of the material property from the base metal via HAZ up to the weld metal was taken into account using spatial variation of the material property. Then the detail elasto-plastic behavior of the welded joint subjected to the repeated cyclic loading has been investigated further through the comparison with the prediction with Neuber's rule. The calibration of the nonlinear kinematic hardening model and nonlinear notch strain analyses have been performed using the commercial FE program ABAQUS.

GMA 용접로봇용 용접선 시각 추적 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Visual Sensor System for Weld Seam Tracking in Robotic GMA Welding)

  • In this study, we constructed a preview-sensing visual sensor system for weld seam tracking in real time in GMA welding. A sensor part consists of a CCD camera, a band-pass filter, a diode laser system with a cylindrical lens, and a vision board for inter frame process. We used a commercialized robot system which includes a GMA welding machine. To extract the weld seam we used a inter frame process in vision board from that we could remove the noise due to the spatters and fume in the image. Since the image was very reasonable by using the inter frame process, we could use the simplest way to extract the weld seam from the image, such as first differential and central difference method. Also we used a moving average method to the successive position data of weld seam for reducing the data fluctuation. In experiment the developed robot system with visual sensor could be able to track a most popular weld seam, such as a fillet-joint, a V-groove, and a lap-joint of which weld seam include planar and height directional variation.

QFP 솔더접합부의 크립특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creep Characteristics of QFP Solder Joints)

  • In this paper, the creep characteristics of lead and lead-free solder joint were investigated using the QFP(Quad Flat Package) creep test. Two kind of solder pastes(Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu, Sn-0.2Sb-0.4Ag-37.4Pb) were applied to the QFP solder joints and each specimen was checked the external and internal failures(i.e., wetting failure, void, pin hole, poor-heel fillet) by digital microscope and X-ray inspection. The creep test was conducted at the temperatures of $100^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$ under the load of 15$\sim$20% of average pull strength in solder joints. The creep characteristics of each solder joints were compared using the creep strain-time curve and creep strain rate-stress curves. Through the comparison, the Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu solder joints have higher creep resistance than that of Sn-0.3Sb-0.4Ag-37.4Pb. Also, the grain boundary sliding in the fracture surface and the necking of solder joint were observed by FE-SEM.

비드 높이 및 조인트 추적의 실시간 제어 연구 (A Study on Real-time Control of Bead Height and Joint Tracking)

  • There have been continuous efforts to automate welding processes. This automation process could be said to fall into two categories, weld seam tracking and weld quality evaluation. Recently, the attempts to achieve these two functions simultaneously are on the increase. For the study presented in this paper, a vision sensor is made, and using this, the 3 dimensional geometry of the bead is measured in real time. For the application in welding, which is the characteristic of nonlinear process, a fuzzy controller is designed. And with this, an adaptive control system is proposed which acquires the bead height and the coordinates of the point on the bead along the horizontal fillet joint, performs seam tracking with those data, and also at the same time, controls the bead geometry to a uniform shape. A communication system, which enables the communication with the industrial robot, is designed to control the bead geometry and to track the weld seam. Experiments are made with varied offset angles from the pre-taught weld path, and they showed the adaptive system works favorable results.

  • 최근 압력용기, 고압배관, LNG Tank 및 선체등의 구조물 파괴에 대한 안전성을 보증하기 위하여, 구조부재의 표면결함에 대한 균열성장 거동을 파악하는 것이 중요한 과제중에 하나라고 인식되어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 단일 및 복수표면 결함의 피로균열 성장을 바탕으로 표면에서 관통되기까지의 균열성장 수명의 추정등 실질적이고 일반적인 문제들을 해석할려고 시도하였다. 또한, 복수균열 문제에 적용하기 위하여 복수 언더컷의 합체진전현상을 검토하였으며 단일 언더컷과 복수 언더컷의 전파특성이 유사함을 밝혔다.

Fatigue Resistance Improvement of Welded Joints by Bristle Roll-Brush Grinding

  • In the periodic repainting of steel bridges, often the steel surface has to be prepared by using power tools to remove surface contaminants, such as deteriorated paint film and rust, and to increase the adhesive strengths of the paint films to be applied newly. Surface preparation by bristle roll-brush grinding, which is a type of power tool, may additionally introduce compressive residual stress and increase the fatigue resistance of welded joints owing to the impact of rotating bristle tips. In this study, fatigue tests were conducted for longitudinally out-of-plane gusset fillet welded joints and transversely butt-welded joints to evaluate the effect of bristle roll-brush grinding prior to repainting on the fatigue resistance of the welded joints. The test results showed that bristle roll-brush grinding introduced compressive residual stress and significantly increased fatigue limits by over 50%.

냉간성형 각형강관 모살용접 T형 접합부의 최대내력(II)-주관웨브 파괴모드- (Ultimate Strength of Fillet-welded T-joints in Cold-formed Square Hollow Sections-chord web failure mode)

  • 본 논문은 냉간성형 각형강관 T형 접합부의 최대내력과 병형제한치에 대한 두 번째 연구이다. 전회의 실험적 연구로부터, 주관폭에 대한 지관폭의 비($\beta$)가 0.8이상인 T형 접합부는 뚜렷한 최대의 하중을 나타내고 접합부의 파괴모드는 주관 웨브의 좌굴파괴이다. 주관 플랜지 파괴모드의 T형 접합부와 유사하게, 일정한 변형량(주관플랜지에서의 변위)에 대응하는 하중을 T형 접합부의 최대내력으로 정의할 수 있을 것이다. Kato와 Zhao에 의해 수행된 실험을 포함한 실험결과로부터 $10.7{\leq}B/T{\leq}42.3$ 이고 $0.8{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}1.0$ 인 범위의 T형 접합부에 대하여, 최대내력을 정의를 위한 변형제한치는 주관폭의 3% 변형량(3%B)으로 제안하였다. CIDECT의 설계식 및 기존의 제안내력식과 실험결과를 비교하였고, 최종적으로 기둥좌굴에 근거한 내력식을 제안하였다.

한 끝단 형상에 따른 마그네슘 합금과 유리섬유 복합소재 단일겹치기 본드 조인트 거동 분석 (Structural Behavior Evaluation of Mg-GFRP Composite Single-Lap Bonded Joints With Different End Shapes)

  • 본 연구에서는 마그네슘 합금과 유리섬유/에폭시 복합재로 구성된 단일겹치기 조인트의 접착부재의 끝단 형상에 따른 조인트의 구조거동을 시험적으로 평가하였다. 이를 위해 4가지 서로 다른 끝단부 형상을 갖는 마그네슘 합금-유리섬유/에폭시 복합재 단일겹치기 시편을 제작하였다. 또한, 인장 시험을 통해 각 단일겹치기 조인트의 파단 거동을 평가하였다. 시험결과 끝단형상이 직각인 형상을 갖는 조인트의 파단 강도가 가장 낮았다. 이에 반해, 접착부재가 역방향 테이퍼를 갖는 조인트의 접합강도가 가장 높았고, 이 값은 끝단 형상이 직각인 형상 대비 약 11.1% 증가된 접합강도이다.

Development of a Numerical Methodology for Analysis and Design of Weldments

  • There are many analysis formulas for determining the resultant shear force in welds. However, there is no general procedure which is applicable to a joint with all six possible loadings exerted simultaneously. A numerical methodology and computer program for such a problem were developed, and they are capable of analyzing a weld of any shape composed of straight or circular line segments. The computer program developed in this study can also display the design procedures and results using computer graphics. The development of such a design procedure and an interactive computer program for weldments analysis will lead to lower cost.
