청년 대학생 자녀가 지각한 부모-자녀 관계의 질과 효도계약에 대한 태도 (Perceived quality of parent-child relationships and attitudes toward filial duty contracts among young adult children)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study identified the perceived quality of parent-child relationships and attitudes toward filial duty contracts among young adult children. Also, this study is to examine the effects of sociodemographic characteristics and perceived quality parent-child relationships on the attitudes toward filial duty contracts and the requirement for filial duty contract details. Method: For this study, a survey was conducted with 210 college student children in young adulthood in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The questionnaire consisted of the 'Attitudes toward Filial Duty Contracts Scale', the 'Requirement for Filial Duty Contract Details Scale', and the 'Quality of Parent-Child Relationships Scale' with a demographic questionnaire. Specifically, the Attitudes toward Filial Duty Contracts Scale consisted of the support for contract, the intention of contract, and reservation contract amount on young adult children's mind. Data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. Results: The major findings of this study are as follows: First, young adult children reported the relationship with mother better than father's and mid levels of support and intention of filial duty contract. They also showed that their reservation contract amount on their mind was about 500 million won. Second, the multiple regression analyses revealed that gender and pride of one's father positively related to their support for filial contract. Also, gender, the pride of one's father, and emotional closeness to one's father significantly affected their intention of filial contract. In addition, among the variables, only monthly family income significantly predicted their reservation contract amount. Finally, the multiple regression analyses revealed that birth order and gender significantly predicted the normative duty contract. Also, the pride of one's father significantly affected the emotional support contract. However, filial duty contract details such as caregiving for sick parents, physical support, and economic support have been found to be meaningless. Conclusions: The findings suggest that preparative education of aging for parents who are considering making the filial duty contracts with their children should include some realistic advice. These pieces of advice include their parent-child relationship and consideration of their own overall asset sizes.

  • 조선시대 교화서와 달리 초기 '역사서'에 실린 기사는 교화적 효과만을 위해 수집, 편찬된 것이 아니어서 효행설화라 하더라도 각각의 서사가 효행을 드러내는 방식에 조금씩 차이가 있으며, 효에 대한 자세가 천편일률적이거나 무비판적이지 않다. "삼국사기" "예전(列傳))"과 "삼국유사" "효선(孝善)"편 효행설화에는 (1)처절한 효행과 그 포상에 서사의 초점이 놓여 부모의 존재가 드러나지 않는 설화에서부터 (2)부모 자식 간의 관계가 효행의 완성에 영향을 주는 가능성의 서사, (3)부모가 적극적으로 자식의 삶에 관여하며 목소리를 드러내 자식의 자아실현을 촉발하는 효행 서사까지 두루 나타난다. 여기서는 후대 효행설화에서는 좀처럼 보이지 않는, 자식에게 진정한 효가 무엇인지 깨닫고 행동하게 하는 부/모의 모습이 나타난다. "삼국사기" "예전(列傳)"과 "삼국유사" "효선(孝善)"편 효행 설화는 전형화된 효행중심 서사뿐 아니라 가족 관계 속에서 소통하고, 변화하여 깨달음을 얻게 되는 모습까지 보여주고 있다. 갈등과 소통의 과정을 거치는 경우 윤리적 효의 성격과 그 실천에 대한 궁극적 해답이 분명해지는 반면, 타고난 효자의 효행 기록은 하기 힘든 어려운 행위에 대한 감탄이 주조를 이루게 된다. 삼국시대의 효행설화는 효행의 대상이 되는 부모가 그 존재감을 드러냄으로써 효자/녀가 진정한 효를 행하게 되는 과정을 체험하게 하는데, 이를 통해 효자/녀는 자연스럽게 효(孝) 자체에 대한 깊이 있는 깨달음을 얻게 된다.

대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안과 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향 : 효 의식의 매개효과 (The Effect that Familism Recognized by College Students have on Anxiety Over Aaging and Elderly Group's Attitude: Mediation Effect of a Sense of Filial Duty)

  • 본 연구는 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안과 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향과 효 의식의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구의 분석을 위해 경기도 성남, 안양, 인천, 그리고 서울에 소재한 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생 200명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 2016년 5월 2일부터 6월 28일 까지 설문 조사하여 불완전 응답 34부를 제외한 166부를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 가족주의, 노화불안, 노인 연령집단 태도, 효 의식 변인 간의 상관관계를 확인하였으며, 변인간의 다중공선성은 VIF 값의 수치를 사용하여 확인하였다. 둘째, 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안, 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 셋째, 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안에 미치는 영향에서 효의식의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 또한 매개효과 유의성 확인을 위해 Sobel이 제안한 Sobel Test를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 고령화 사회의 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안에 미치는 영향에서 효 의식의 매개효과 검증을 토대로 핵가족 고령화 사회의 대학생과 노인세대 간의 가족주의 및 효 의식의 함양과 미래에 야기되는 대학생의 노화불안 감소를 위한 사회복지개입실천의 필요성을 제언하였다.

조선시대(朝鮮時代) 아동(兒童)의 효행교육(孝行敎育) (The Conduct of the Filial Education of Children in the Chason Dynasty)

  • This documentary study investigated the background, content and methods of the filial education of children in the Choson Dynasty; that is, the ways in which filial conduct was taught so that the child learned manners and learned to assist parents in everyday life. The subjects of this study were the upper class(sonbi) and ranged from 7 or 8 to 13 or 14 years in Korean age. The Confucian view of nature, ethics and the family system emphasized filial duty during the Choson Dynasty. The contents of filial education were the fundamentals of filial conduct, such as daily greetings, participation(in family events), and an affectionate and respectful attitude towards parent. The method for filial education was that parents and instructors were to be good model in everyday life so that children got accustomed to good conduct. It is difficult to apply the filial conduct of the Choson Dynasty to today's life, but its basic spirit, that is, loving and respecting human beings, is still invaluable for modern times. This spirit may be applied to childhood education today by amending some out-of-date contents, and the filial ethos universalized in daily life could become a prescription for today's chaotic society.

속담을 통해서 본 조선족의 부모-자녀 관계 가치관 (The Examination of Korean-Chinese Parent-Child Relationships through Korean Proverbs)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine Korean-Chinese parent-child relationship values through Korean proverbs on parent-child relationships. A total of 233 Korean-Chinese who reside in Yungil, China participated in this study. The participants were recruited through Korean-Chinese preschools and elementary schools. They completed a questionnaire which asked to what extent they agreed or disagreed with Korean proverbs. The items were classified into four categories: filial piety (duty), child-care and education, childrearing practices, and traditional son preference (and daughter discrimination). The results showed that, although the participants highly agreed to the meaning of the proverbs, they seldom used Korean proverbs in their daily lives. The findings concluded that the participants generally manifested a traditional value of filial piety or duty. Also, the findings showed that more fathers acclaimed the value of traditional son preference (and daughter discrimination) than mothers. Finally, the degree of familiarity with Korean culture was found to be a major factor in explaining differences in levels of agreement or disagreement to the proverbs. Since Korean-Chinese ethnic minority groups in China tend to adhere to traditional Korean values, they might encounter more challenges assimilating into the mainstream Chinese culture.

  • Korean Traditional Houses had been composed of several territory. Sarang-Chae was territorialized from the functional differentiation and the sexual discrimination of Confucianism. The territory of ancestral shrine was formed with the filial duty of Confucianism. Korean Traditional Houses have the visible, material boundary and invisible, symbolic boundary which is repeated into the inner space. Korean Traditional Houses are appreciated as the enclosed territory which the sacred inner space of the house is in opposition with the profane outer space, and the inner space of the house has hierarchical boundary by the hierarchy of the house god.

  • 본 연구는 서계 박세당의 "사변록"에 나타난 "중용"을 이해하고 그의 학문 평가에 대해 새로운 해석을 해보려는 시도이다. 기존의 학계에서는 서계의 학문 성격을 반주자학, 탈정주학, 탈성리학, 실학 등으로 구명하였다. 서계의 "중용" 이해는 분명히 주자의 "중용장구"에 대해 상당히 비판적이다. 하지만 그것은 반주자학, 탈정주학, 탈성리학, 실학이라기보다는 경(經)을 이해하고 독해하는 서계의 학문적 독특성 때문이다. 특히, 육경(六經)을 중심으로 실천적 학문을 펼치려는 철학적 방법의 창의적 돌출로 볼 수 있다. 서계는 중용이 지닌 뜻의 일관성 유지를 위해, 정자와 주자가 중용의 해석하면서 드러내는 사유의 불일치를 지적하며, 나름대로 유학의 본래 사유에 부합하는 근원적 의미를 찾으려고 노력하였다. 그것은 사물과 행위에서 그명칭과 본분, 역할과 기능을 일치하려는 노력으로 드러났다. 아울러 서계에게서 중용은 본성을 따르는데 힘쓰는 것으로 인식되고, 내 마음의 밝은 것을 따라 실천하는 사람의 길로 정돈된다. 이는 객관적으로 사람과 사물의 원리를 설명하는 주자의 사유와는 다른 측면으로, 인간 주체로서의 삶에 역동성을 부여하면서 실천의 기초로서 강력한 실제성과 현실성을 지닌다. 따라서 중용의 실천양식은 실제적인 효를 무게중심에 두고 전개되고, 사람이 그것을 어떻게 실천하느냐에 따라 천도(天道)에도 이룰 수 있다는 인간 주체의 발현으로 나타난다. 요약하면 서계는 중용을 관념적이고 이론적이며 형이상학적 차원으로 인식하기보다는 실제적이고 실천적이며 형이하학적 차원에서 규명하였다. 이는 인간을 중심으로 세계를 이해하고 사람의 길을 고심한 사유의 실천으로 유학의 본질을 탐구한 학문 정신의 전개이다.

임원준의 사적을 통해 본 조선시대 의서습독관의 직무와 역할 (The Duty and Role of Uiseoseubdoggwan(Medical Learning Officer) in the Joseon Dynasty Examined through the Historical Trace of IM Won-jun(任元濬, 1423~1500))

  • IM Won-jun(任元濬, 1423~1500) was an Confucianism Doctor in the former period of Joseon Dynasty. Through IM Won-jun's historical trace we could know the range of Uiseoseubdoggwan(Medical Learning Officer)'s duty not limited to study medical books at that time but extended to medical treat, educate, recommend medical policy, personnel manage, carry out administrative work, carry out all the works concerned with medical books, make new medicines at different official period. Among these after learning duties the Royal Family of the Joseon Dynasty awarded high grades to medical treatment for king and king's mother, but from the viewpoint of advancement of medicine controling the top of medical policy as a chief of Jeonuigam had important meaning. The system of Uiseoseubdoggwan(Medical Learning Officer) in the Joseon Dynasty played the role of cultivating widely the man of ability who leaded medical development by sharing the man of ability between medicine and confucianism which was dominant learning at that time, so the knowledge and professional skill of medicine, Yin-Yang and the Five Elements theory, the spirit of relief of the world were spreaded across to national administration, education, publication culture, putting philosophy of filial piety into practice in the Joseon Dynasty.

개화기 계몽담론에 나타난 ′가족′에 대한 단상 - 대한매일신보를 중심으로 - (A Study of the Use of the Family in Enlightenment Discourses: an analysis of Taehan Maeil Sinbo)

  • This is a study of discourses on the family used during the Enlightenment period in Korea. To this end, 1 have conducted a qualitative analysis of the editorials taken from the Taehan Maeil Sinbo of that period. The major findings are as follows: First, these Enlightenment period discourses claimed that civilized nations evolved from a family in primitive society. This concept of family is different from the concept of family in a Confucian society. Civilized societies believed the family is less important than the nation. At that time, Korean Press used the term bumoguk (Parental nation) to refer to the nation in an attempt to equate national loyalty to filial piety. Second, the Enlightenment period claimed that the nation belonged in the Public sphere while the family belonged in the private sphere. However, it was stated that it was the duty of the family to discipline the members and make them into good citizens. Finally, Enlightenment discourses used familyism as the basis of their arguments.
