Analysis to distance and train speed of portable alarm system using GPS and RF mode (휴대용 열차접근경보장치에 적용되는 GPS모드와 RF모드의 거리 및 속도 분석)

  • A portable train approaching warning device can be used in order to reduce accidents of the workers on the rail, who are working without recognizing the approaching train, and to secure the safety of the workers. It can be installed in the train so that workers can recognize the approaching train. However, it is not easy to identify the location of the train precisely. In this study GPS and RF devices, which are used to calculate the location of the train were reviewed, to see how much error tolerance they have in the field, to analyze the distance for normal transmission between the receiver and transmitter, to verify the conformity of the portable train approaching warning device developed as a prototype model to the current rail system, and to provide the related fields with the analysis results to improve the existing or application technology. Additionally, test methods to locate the train were introduced and each test result was compared and analyzed.

  • As many systems depend on electronics, concern for fault tolerance is growing rapidly in the safety critical system such as intelligent vehicle. In order to make system fault tolerant, there has been a body of research mainly from aerospace field including predictive hybrid redundancy by Lee. Although the predictive hybrid redundancy has the fault tolerant mechanism to satisfy the fault tolerant requirement of safety crucial system such as x-by-wire system, it suffers form the variability of prediction performance according to the input feature of system. As an alternative to the prediction method of predictive hybrid redundancy for robust fault tolerant, Kalman prediction has attracted some attention because of its well-known and often-used with its structure called Kalman hybrid redundancy. In addition, several numerical simulation results are given where the Kalman hybrid redundancy outperforms with predictive smoothing voter.

  • The micro optical parts such as ferrules are required to be manufactured within very small tolerances, as the slight deviation of the tolerance would give very large amount of loss in communication efficiency. For efficient optical communication, outer diameter, fiber diameter, fiber separation and eccentricity are significant parameters to be inspected., Thus we developed an automatic inspection system to evaluate shape parameters of the optical fiber connectors(ferrule) upto submicron accuracy using machine vision. new optical probe of multi fields of views has been developed and the image processing and data analysis algorithms have been complemented in real time basis. The developed system is successfully used in the practical ferrule manufacturing industry, and about 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ accuracy can be obtained with very fast inspection time.

  • The usage of beam scanning type laser marker is rapidly increasing in the field of semiconductor equipment. A device called ″beam adjuster″ is employed to adjust the visible diode laser, which points the marking position for various setting. The device is very sensitive to manufacturing tolerance and assembly condition. Axiomatic approach has been applied to the design of the device. An existing design is analyzed based on the Independence Axiom. The existing design is found to violate the axiom. Two new designs are proposed to satisfy the Independence Axiom. The Information Axiom is utilized to evaluate the designs. A design is selected to have the minimum information content. The significance of this research is that a full cycle of axiomatic design is applied to a real engineering product.

  • A lot of researches have been done in teleoperation field. For accurate and reliable teleoperation, force reflection is required so that the master can feel the same force, which is measured at reflection have been applied to most of the master device. Therefore the master can not control the force exerted by the slave robot to the environment. But some tasks such as an insertion with very small tolerance, skewing bolt and so forth, require the force command from the master.

  • This paper presents the design of high-speed virtual output queue(VOQ) management scheme for high performance cell/packet switch, which has a serial cross bar structure. The proposed VOQ management scheme has been designed for wire-speed routing with a pipelined buffer management. It provides the tolerance of requests and grants data transmission latency between the VOQ manager and central arbiter using a new request control method that is based on a high-speed shifter. The designed VOQ manager has been implemented in a field programmable gate array chip with a 77MHz operating frequency, a 900-pin fine ball grid array package, and 16$\times$16 switch size.

  • Intrusion tolerant technology is the technology to guarantee the Quality of service for certain amount time from the attacks which cannot be defended by the previous information security technologies. It increases the availability and confidentiality of the system by minimizing the damage from the attacks. And the fundamental components of the intrusion tolerant technology are voting and GMP(Group Management Protocol). In this paper, we present a new scheme to analyze the voting dependability and corrupt member detection dependability, which is very critical in GMP. Based on this scheme, we can make a new security policy and the methodology of analyzing the dependability itself also can be applicable to the other field.

  • The Nongkwang variety was sown directly in the field by the three methods of dibbling, drill seeding and broad-casting in non-, low- and high-salty areas, and compared with the growth of transplanted rice in each areas. The yield of rough rice was increased remarkably by direct sowing when compared with that produced by transplanting inboth salty areas, but in non-salty area, the former was decreased significantly. There was no significant difference in the yields of rough rice resulting from three seedling methods of direct sowing in each area. The direct sowing method was predominated in number of panicle, weight of panicle, ratio of matured grains, milling recovery percentage, and straw weight in both salty areas, and dicreased in panicle weight and ratio of matured grain in nonsalty area.

  • The impact of plant genetic engineering, a technology born in the early 1980's, is beginning to be felt across the world in the 1990's. The first wave of engineered plant produce are reaching consumers in the supermarket and many more are destined to follow Transformation technology now exists for most plant, including the four staple crops-maize, wheat, rice, and soybean. Early targets of genetic engineering include plane possessing insect resistance and herbicide tolerance, with future goals set on increasing harvestable yield, improving nutritional quality, and making specialty products. This review describes some of the milestones in plant biotechnology, the U.S. regulatory agencies, field trial numbers and deregulated plants, commercialization criteria, examples of commercialized plants, and future prospects of plant biotechnology.

  • In this paper, it is reported that the anode current changes at the constantly applied gate voltages and the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of Si, Co silicide and Mo silicide field emitter arrays (FEAs) depending on vacuum level from a $10^{-9}$ torr to a $10^{-6}$ torr. The mechanism of the robustness of anode current degradation of Mo silicide FEAs under poor vacuum conditions can be explained by the model of tolerance for the oxygen adsorption and oxidation at the silicide surface. Also, we present the changes of emitting area and work function of the emitters according to vacuum level.
