This paper proposes an active leakage magnetic field (LMF) suppression scheme, which uses the dual-transmitter (DT) topology, for EV wireless charging systems (EVWCS). The two transmitter coils are coplanar, concentric and driven by separate inverters. The LMF components generated by the three coils cancel each other out to reduce the total field strength. This paper gives a detailed theoretical analysis on the operating principles of the proposed scheme. Finite element analysis is used to simulate the LMF distribution patterns. Experimental results show that when there is no coil misalignment, 97% of the LMF strength can be suppressed in a 1kW prototype. These results also show that the impact on efficiency is small. The trade-off between LMF suppression and efficiency is revealed, and a control strategy to balance these two objectives is presented.

This research attempts to find an active control strategy which reduces acoustic power and acoustic energy in lightly-damped enclosed sound field such as a vehicle compartment or an operating room of heavy industrial machinery. An active control strategy, which takes into consideration of the acoustic radiation power of the source as a cost function, is formulated and examined to find capability of reducing noise. An adaptive filtering algorithm for sound power control is suggested and implemented to control lightly-damped sound field. To verify the method, sound power based active noise control algorithm was implemented on a rectangular box with lightly-damped wall, and popular acoustic energy based control with modal coupling reduction was performed to compare the noise reduction performance. It was shown that a total sound power based strategy provides a practical mean for global noise reduction for lightly damped sound field.

The spectrum weighted responses of various detectors were calculated to provide guidance on the proper selection and use of survey instruments on the basis of their energy response characteristics on the neutron fields. To yield the spectrum weighted response, the detector response functions of 17 neutron-measuring devices were numerically folded with each of the produced calibration neutron spectra through the in-house developed software 'K-SWR'. The detectors' response functions were taken from the IAEA Technical Reports Series No. 403 (TRS-403). The reference neutron fields of 21 kinds with 2 spectra groups with different proportions of thermal and fast neutrons have been produced using neutrons from the $^{241}Am$-Be sources held in a graphite pile, a bare $^{241}Am$-Be source, and a DT neutron generator. Fluence-average energy ($E_{ave}$) varied from 3.8 MeV to 16.9 MeV, and the ambient-dose-equivalent rate [$H^*(10)/h$] varied from 0.99 to 16.5 mSv/h.

Many research applications in basic sciences and biology such as protein crystallography require hard x-rays in the range of 3-20 keV with high brightness. A medium energy storage ring as PLS-II with a beam energy of 3 GeV can meet such high photon energies. In-vacuum undulators (IVU) with a period length of 20 mm and a peak field of 0.97 T are used in the PLS-II ring to produce such X-rays in the fundamental or higher harmonics. Due to the many poles and high fields, insertion devices like wigglers and undulators have a significant impact on the stability of the electron beam with potential degradation of beam quality and life time. Therefore, nonlinear fields must be determined by measurement and evaluated as to their impact on beam stability. Specifically, transverse field roll-off can be a serious detriment to injection in top-up mode and must be corrected. We use magnetic field measurement data to evaluated beam stability by tracking particles using an explicit symplectic integrator in both, transverse and longitudinal planes.

Purpose: Performances of a tractor diesel engine fueled by three different animal fats biodiesels were evaluated comparing with light oil tractor in terms of power, fuel consumption rate, exhaust gases, particulate matter amount and field work capacity. Methods: Animal fats based on pig biodiesel were manufactured manually and tested for its engine performance in the tractor diesel engine and fuel adoptability in the field works. Four different fuels, three different content of biodiesel (BD20, BD50, BD100) and light oil, were prepared and tested in the four strokes diesel engine. Power output, fuel consumption rate and exhaust gases of the four fuels in the diesel engine were compared and discussed. Results: Power output of light oil engine was the greatest showing 5.3% difference between light oil and BD100, but 0.37% better power than BD20 engine power. Less exhaust gases of $CO_2$, CO, $NO_X$ and THC were produced from animal fats biodiesel than light oil, which confirmed that biodiesel is environmental friendly fuel. For fuel adoptability in the tractor, biodiesel engine tractor showed its fuel competitiveness comparing with light oil for tractor works in the faddy field. Conclusions: With four different fuel types of animal-fats biodiesel, performances of a four cylinder diesel engine for tractor were evaluated in terms of power, exhaust gases, particulate matters (PM) and field work capacity. No significant differences observed in the engine performances including power output and exhaust gases emission rate. No significant power difference observed between the various fuels including light oil on the engine running, however, amounts of noxious exhaust gases including $CO_2$ and $NO_X$ decreased as biodiesel content increased in the fuels. Field performances of animal-fats biodiesel tractor were investigated by conducting plowing and rotary operation in the field. Tilling and rotary performance of light oil tractor and BD20 tractor in the field were compared, in which about 10% travelling speed difference on both operations were monitored that showed light oil tractor was superior to BD20 tractor by 10%. Animal-fats can be an alternative fuel source replacing light oil for agricultural machinery and an environmental friendly fuel to nature.

A network-coding-based scheme is proposed to improve the energy efficiency of distributed storage systems in WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). We mainly focus on two problems: firstly, consideration is given to effective distributed storage technology; secondly, we address how to effectively repair the data in failed storage nodes. For the first problem, we propose a method to obtain a sparse generator matrix to construct network codes, and this sparse generator matrix is proven to be the sparsest. Benefiting from this matrix, the energy consumption required to implement distributed storage is reduced. For the second problem, we designed a network-coding-based iterative repair method, which adequately utilizes the idea of re-encoding at intermediate nodes from network coding theory. Benefiting from the re-encoding, the energy consumption required by data repair is significantly reduced. Moreover, we provide an explicit lower bound of field size required by this scheme, which implies that it can work over a small field and the required computation overhead is very low. The simulation result verifies that the proposed scheme not only reduces the total energy consumption required to implement distributed storage system in WSNs, but also balances energy consumption of the networks.
The purpose of this study was to conduct a needs analysis among experts regarding the curriculum in the field of new and renewable energy for the future experts. To achieve this goal, purposive sampling was employed to select 30 experts from the reginal, industrial, academic, and research sectors in the new and renewable energy field, who participated in needs surveys and expert Delphi surveys. Needs assessments for 53 courses and suitability evaluations for 6 curriculums were conducted, and comprehensive advisory opinions were gathered. Data were analyzed using t-tests, Brich's needs assessment, the locus for focus model, and content analysis methods, with the assistance of MS Office Excel 2018 and SPSS 25.0 software. The key findings include: (a) 18 courses should be given top priority for operation, while 4 courses should be considered secondarily; (b) All 6 curriculums received positive evaluations; (c) Improvements are needed in curriculum development to cater to both generalist and specialist training needs, incorporating the acquisition of new technology and project-based learning experiences. The results of this study provide implications for the development of customized curriculums in the new and renewable energy industry.
A FEM model of the remote-field eddy current effect is presented for zirconium-2.5percent niobium(Zr-2.5%Nb) nuclear reactor pressure tubes to demonstrate the important electromagnetic field. Phenomena that describe this effect. This model is applied to evaluate the optimal operating frequency and detector position. There are many ambiguous experimental results connected with this technique. Finite element calculations can be used in the interpretation of these experimental results even though the electromagnetic fields measured in the remote-field technique are very small.
The superconducting synchronous motor or generator mostly has high permeability iron only around outer yoke portion. Therefore, if excitation voltage (Back E.M.F) is calculated from 2 dimensional magnetic field distributions, it can be largely different from actual value due to additional voltage originated from end coils. In order to calculate the excitation voltage more accurately, 3 dimensional magnetic field calculation is necessary for including the end coil effect from large air-gap structure. The excitation voltage can be calculated by stator (armature) coil linkage flux originated from rotor (field) coil excitation, but it is difficult to calculate the flux linkage exactly because of complicated structure of the stator coil. This paper shows a method to calculate the excitation voltage from 3 dimensional magnetic energy that can be calculated directly from volume integration of magnetic flux density and field intensity scalar product through FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis software.
In order to study the seasonal variation of kinetic and potential energy of residual flow field In Suyoung Bay of Korea, we calculated Its energy budget and compared It with the tidal energy there. The potential energy shows the large value In winter and spring and the small one In summer and early autumn when the density stratification Is developed. The kinetic energy of residual flow varies seasonally and the seasonally averaged kinetic energy of residual flow per unit area is 6.4$\times$$10^{-4}ergs s^{-1}cm^{-}2$. It Is mainly governed by the density-driven current with the exception of that In November when the kinetic energy of tide-induced residual current is larger than those of density-driven current and wind-driven current. An averaged traction of the kinetic energy of tide-Induced residual current, wind-driven current and density-driven current, which are the major components of residual flow, is 29.1%, 3.4%, 67.5%, respectively, to the kinetic energy of residual flow, The fraction of kinetic energy of residual flow, potential energy and tidal energy per unit area is 1.0 : 6.7$\times$$10^3$: 8.2$\times$$10^4$ respectively.
