  • Vibration test on MAST(multi axial simulation table) system has several advantage over one-axial vibration test that could simulate 6-DOF, 3-axial translation and 3-axial moment, at the same time. Since field vibration motion can be fully represented with 6-DOF, multi-axial vibration test on vehicle component is widely conducted in technical leading companies to make sure its fatigue performance in vibration environment. On the way to fulfill the process, editing technique of obtained field data is key issue to success a reliable vibration testing with MAST system. Since the original signals are not only too large to fulfill it directly, but all of the measured data is not guarantee its convergency on generating its driving files, editing technique of the original signals are highly required to make some events that should meet the equal fatigue damage on the target component In this paper, key technique on editing a field data feasible for MAST system is described based on energy method in vibration fatigue. To explain its technique explicitly, author first introduced a process on field data acquisition of two vehicle component and then, representing events are produced to keep up with the editing strategy about a energy method. In the final chapter, a time information regarding a vibration test on MAST system is derived from the energy data which is critical information to perform a vibration test.

  • A real-time dose assessment system(FADAS : Following Accident Dose Assessment System) has been developed for the real-time accident consequence assessment against a nuclear accident. Field tracer experiment near Younggwang nuclear power plant was performed to improve the accuracy of developed system and to parameterize the site-specific parameters into the FADAS. The mean values and turbulent components of wind profile obtained through field experiment have been reflected to FADAS with site-specific conditions. The simulated results of diffusion model agreed well with the measured data through tracer experiment. The developed system is being used as a basic module of emergency preparedness system in Korea. The diffusion model which can be reflected site-specific parameters will be improved through field experiments continuously.

  • For understanding the radiation environment in the land of Korea and acquiring baseline data to be referred to at the time of a nuclear accident, cultivated soils in the $0{\sim}15cm$ layer were sampled at 33 sites scattered all over the country and $^{137}Cs$ concentrations were measured by $\gamma$-spectrometry. The soil $^{137}Cs$ concentrations were in the range of $0.7{\sim}17.7$ Bq/kg-dry in the paddy field and $1.2{\sim}27.8$ Bq/kg-dry in the upland field, The means were 6.9 Bq/kg-dry and 9.9 Bq/kg-dry, respectively. In the paddy field, the soil $^{137}Cs$ concentration was positively correlated to the organic matter content and negatively correlated to the clay content. In the upland field, it was positively correlated to the cation exchange capacity. It was revealed that soil organic matter play an important role in the change of soil $^{137}Cs$ concentration.

  • Three-dimensional wind field and atmospheric dispersion models have been developed for estimating the concentration distributions of radioactive materials released into atmosphere. The field tracer experiment near the Kori nuclear power plant located over complex terrain was carried out for validating the atmospheric dispersion model. The wind fields were one of the most important factors for calculating the concentration. Therefore several numerical simulations using the measured wind data were performed to get more accurate concentration distributions compared with the analyzed values of the tracer gas. The calculated concentration distributions agreed well in the case of the usage of the more measured wind data in wind field model.

  • [Purpose] The goal of this study was to review data on physical activity level (PAL), a crucial index for determining estimated energy requirement (EER), calculated as total energy expenditure (TEE, assessed with doubly labeled water [DLW]) divided by resting metabolic rate (RMR, PAL = TEE/RMR) in female athletes and to understand the methods of assessing athletes' EERs in the field. [Methods] For the PAL data review among female athletes, we conducted a PubMed search of the available literature related to the DLW method. DLW studies measuring TEE and RMR were included for the present review. [Results] Briefly, the mean PAL was 1.71 for collegiate swimmers with moderate training, which was relatively low, but the mean PAL was 3.0 for elite swimmers during summer training camp. This shows that PAL can largely vary even within the same sport depending on the amount of training, and the differences in PAL were remarkable depending on the sport. Aside from the DLW method, there is currently no research tool related to athletes' EERs that can be used in the field. • Compound semiconductor/CNTs composites have shown considerably improved efficiency improvement in photovoltaic devices, which is often attributed to two different factors. One is the formation of efficient electronic energy cascade structures. The other effect of CNTs on the performance of photovoltaic devices is the decrement of interfacial resistance. The interfacial resistances at n-type/ p-type materials and/or n-type materials/TCO electrode are reduced by an outstanding electrical property of CNTs. In addition to the effects of CNTs, we report the third reason for increment of efficiency in photovoltaic devices by CNT's well-known electrical field enhancement effects. The improved ${\beta}$ values in reverse-FE currents of CIGS electrode with SWNTs layers indicate the enhancement of electrical field in photovoltaic devices, which implies the acceleration of the electron transfer rate in the cell. Due to the formation of an efficient electronic energy cascade structure and the decrease of the interfacial resistance as well as the improvement of the electrical field in the photovoltaic devices, the power conversion efficiency of electrochemically deposited superstrate-type CIGS solar cells was increased 24.3% in the presence of SWNTs and showed 10.40% conversion efficiency.

  • Single crystal $CdGa_2Se_4$ layers were grown on a thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $420^{\circ}C$ with the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating the poly crystal source of $CdGa_2Se_4$ at $630\;^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of single crystal $CdGa_2Se_4$ thin films measured with Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $8.27\;\times\;10^{17}\;cm^{-3}$, $345\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively. The photocurrent and the absorption spectra of $CdGa_2Se_4$/SI(Semi-Insulated) GaAs(100) are measured ranging from 293 K to 10K. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CdGa_2Se_4$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T) = 2.6400 eV - ($7.721\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;eV/K)T^2$/(T + 399 K). Using the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasi cubic model, the crystal field energy(${\Delta}cr$) and the spin-orbit splitting energy(${\Delta}so$) for the valence band of the $CdGa_2Se_4$ have been estimated to be 106.5 meV and 418.9 meV at 10 K, respectively. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_1$-, $B_1$-, and $C_{11}$-exciton peaks.

  • This work was undertaken for the numerical analysis of defrosting phenomena of automobile windshield. To analyze the defrost, the flow and temperature field of cabin interior, heat transfer through the windshield glass, and phase change of the frost should be analyzed simultaneously. The flow field was obtained by solving the 3-D unsteady Navier-Stokes equation and the temperature field was computed by energy equation. The phase-change process of Stefan problem was solved by enthalpy method. For code validation, the temperature field of the driven cavity was calculated. The result of calculation shows a good agreement with the other numerical results. Then, the present code was applied to the defrosting analysis of a real automobile and, also, a good agreement with experiment was obtained.

  • The SI unit of specific absorption rate (SAR) in W/kg in the electromagnetic (EM) field as non-ionizing radiation is exactly same as the SI unit of absorbed dose rate in Gy/s in the ionizing radiation field. The SI unit of both physical quantities can be expressed in $[m^{\cdot}s^{-3}]$. Where, the unit of absorbed dose, Gy stands for Gray. In EM biological interactions, the SAR equations are derived and the characteristics of EM field energy absorption in terms of the SAR are discussed and described on the mathematical basis.
