The focus of the study was the difficult situations in caring with patients and their families. Methods: Field study was performed at a for-profit hospital from March, 2004 to March, 2007. The participants of the study were 5 head nurses and 2 nurses in charge. The data were collected with iterative interviews and participant-observations. For the analysis of the data, taxonomy and critical discourse analyzing were applied. Results: The nurse mangers who showed wholistic patterns of behavior took the role of a broker among the client system, professional nursing system, medical system, and other allied health system. The nurse managers whose approach was profession-centered took the role of protector of nursing system. The nurse manager who practiced nurse-oriented pattern of behavior tried not to have harm against other members of health system. The experiences of nurse managers were effected from the discourses of patriarchal and market mechanism. • In the medical field. the desire of the hospital information system based on the advanced computer technology has been increased because hospital staffs wanted to provide better medical services to their patients by using it. So, the electronic medical records have emerged to share and exchange medical and healthcare information stored in database. In this paper. we developed an electronic medical record system using XML. This system includes four modules : data repository. document structure manager, document writter and XML automatic generator. For the purpose of evaluating the usability of the electronic medical records of our system, we also applied it to out-patient medical records in the department of orthopedic surgery.

  • Geo-location white space spectrum databases (GL-WSDBs) are currently the preferred technique for enabling spectrum sharing between primary users and secondary users or white space devices (WSDs) in the very-high frequency (VHF) and ultra-high frequency (UHF) bands. This is true because technologies for making low-cost WSDs capable of autonomous sensing and detection of available white space (WS) spectrum are not yet feasible. This paper reviews the necessary enabling technical conditions to allow coexistence of primary and secondary systems in the VHF and UHF spectrum through a GL-WSDB approach. The practical implementation of South Africa's first GL-WSDB was performed. Results of WS channels available from five cities in South Africa calculated from the implemented GL-WSDB was compared with a commercially available GL-WSDB and was found to be 68% similar. Additionally, results from the implemented GL-WSDB were compared with measurements obtained from field spectrum scanning campaigns at two different locations in Cape Town, South Africa, and was found to be 64% similar.

  • The competitiveness of modern organizations highly depends upon organizational competencies rather than individual competencies. However, most of previous studies on project success focused on individual competencies, such as project manager's competency and leadership. Even though there are some assessment models for the organizational project competencies, they are limited in specific organizations and industries. Furthermore, it is difficult to apply them to domestic companies, especially to small and medium enterprises because some assessment items are inappropriate for them. The purpose of this study is to propose an organizational project competency assessment model that is suitable for evaluating small and medium enterprises. First, the assessment areas and items for each area are determined through extensive investigation of previous models including OPM3, CMMI, and PMBOK. Next, the weights of assessment areas and items are decided by AHP analysis of experts response in the field of the project management. Finally, a project competency assessment model with assessment sheets is proposed. The model proposed in this study might support managers of small and medium enterprises to find pros and cons of project competencies and to establish improvement plans.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to present the desirable level of home health care services by identifying the roles and activities by task of home health nursing specialists as well as to raise the level of professionalism in home health care services. Method : This is a methodological study. The roles and activities by task were identified through a review of literature and a state-of-the-practice survey, and were structured into a questionnaire after being reviewed and modified through a consensus of experts. The field survey was conducted on 136 home health nursing specialists at medical institutions, public health centers. public medical institutions, non-governmental organizations, and religious institutions in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province. Incheon, Busan, Daegu, and Gwanggju from June 4 to August 4. 2004. Seven roles. 34 tasks and 130 activities were identified in association with home health nursing specialists. Result : The roles of home health nursing specialists were identified as professional nursing service provider, advisor, educator, administrator, case manager, researcher and leader. Under these roles. 34 tasks and 134 task-specific activities were identified. • Although the safety management plan review system according to the Construction Technology Promotion Act for securing the safety of the construction work is a fundamental system essential for the prevention of the construction industry disaster, the necessity of its improvement has been raised because it often fails to meet the original purpose. In this study, through the analysis of the effect of the safety management plan and the problems of the operation, we suggest ways to improve it in view of the construction accident reduction and conducted surveys on the construction site through the questionnaires of the client, construction company, and construction business technology manager. In order to improve the effectiveness of this system as a result of the study, it is necessary to distribute the guidelines for the preparation of the safety management plan, manuals, etc., to simplify the contents of the safety management plan, also the step-by-step approval of the safety plan can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to revise the policy through consultation with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and related experts.

  • Safety management agent manages the risk behavior of the worker with the naked eye, but there is a real difficulty for one the agent to manage all the workers. In this paper, IoT device is attached to a harness safety belt that a worker wears to solve this problem, and behavior data is upload to the cloud in real time. We analyze the upload data through the deep learning and analyze the risk behavior of the worker. When the analysis result is judged to be dangerous behavior, we designed and implemented a system that informs the manager through monitoring application. In order to confirm that the risk behavior analysis through the deep learning is normally performed, the data values of 4 behaviors (walking, running, standing and sitting) were collected from IMU sensor for 60 minutes and learned through Tensorflow, Inception model. In order to verify the accuracy of the proposed system, we conducted inference experiments five times for each of the four behaviors, and confirmed the accuracy of the inference result to be 96.0%.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of decentralization, participation in decision making, job satisfaction on organizational commitment among hospital nurse managers. Method: The data were derived from the self-reported questionnaire responses of 198 nurse managers from January to March, 2006 at four general hospitals over 900 beds in Seoul and Gyungi province and analyzed by frequency and percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Sheffe's test and stepwise multiple regression. Result: Mean of decentralization was 3.53${\pm}$0.52, participation in decision making was 5.04${\pm}$0.83, job satisfaction 3.54${\pm}$0.48, and organizational commitment was 5.30${\pm}$0.76. There were significant differences between participation in decision-making and career of manager, field of practice, span of control, especially in staffing decision. A significant correlation was found between organizational commitment and decentralization (r=.22, p<.001), participation in decision making (r=.40, p<.001), job satisfaction (r=.64, p<.001). The job satisfaction has the highest significant predictor of organizational commitment ($R^2$=43%). Conclusions: Nursing managers' job satisfaction and organizational commitment will be promoted by granting participation in decision-making.
