Metal Injection Molding(MIM) is a technology without any mechanical processing, which is a promising area backed up by nano powder technology developed in late 1990's. The market was about 24 billion U$ in 1999. Many applications are made in process development, uses, powder making, hindering and sintering, of which order is in terms of the number of patents. This technologies are mainly developed by US firms, and applied by Japanese firms. Europe and Korea are still catch-up stage. More efforts should be made in this field because new opportunities are opening, thanks to nano technology.

This paper intends to clear up the conte31t of the interdisciplinary nature of individual researches. First, the interdisciplinary character of individual research was analyzed. Approximately 40% of individual research projects supported by Korea Science and Engineering Foundation has the interdisciplinary nature. Second, there are close connections among research fields in individual research projects. Every research field needs the inflow of knowledge from other fields and supports other research fields as well. The interrelation among various research fields indicates the importance of the balanced development in all science and engineering fields.

Today, companies and social actors at the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are focusing on active innovation and efforts to adapt to rapidly changing environmental changes. Design thinking refers to creative strategies designers utilize during the process of designing. Design thinking is also an approach that can be used to consider issues and resolve problems more broadly than within professional design practice, and has been applied in business and to social issues. However, there are some limitations in the design thinking methodology during the project in the field. This paper presents a novel design - thinking process that incorporates a lean start - up based business model into the design thinking process. We conducted a case study to verify the effectiveness of our new design thinking process in social innovation projects. In this paper, it is meaningful to suggest and verify a new process that combines business model Zen to complement the limit of design thinking. It will also provide guidelines for design thinking projects as tools for social innovation.

As mobile phone has acquired a status of a fashion item expressing one's character, it is necessary to understand the fashion needs for this new fashion product. The purpose of this study was to apply the fashion orientation construct developed in the clothing research field to mobile phone and explore its validity. The multi-dimensional construct of fashion orientation which most widely represented the fashion aspects was examined for the two product categories of clothing and mobile phone. Data were collected from an online questionnaire survey, and a total of 1,136 responses were analyzed. The construct structure of fashion orientation of mobile phone resulted in individuality, innovation, and fashion was different from that of clothing extracted to interest/importance, fashion/innovation, and individuality. Fashion sensitivity and an early adoption of a new product were two different dimensions in mobile phone while not separable in clothing. Despite a higher predictability of the fashion/innovation orientation of clothing on fashion orientation rather than on innovation orientation of mobile phone, innovation orientation was more important to purchase behaviors of mobile phone. The study still implies that it is valid to use clothing fashion innovative consumers for mobile phone marketing.

Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement is originally developed quality program in Korea for supplier's quality level-up since 1995. The quality target is below the 10ppm(parts per million) in outgoing quality and delivered goods plus field claim. This Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement program was conducted to realize the anticipated results not only due to management result level's increasing, but also the company's confidence and competitiveness. This study attempted to find the mutual influences on the participation of the constituent members, satisfaction of the constituent members and results of the management from Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement. The reliance analysis for the measurement material on the questionnaire was verified by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Participation of the constituent members, satisfaction of the constituent member and result of the management, the influences upon Single PPM improvement degree level were verified through the structural analysis by using SPSS statistic package. The influence evaluation among the groups was evaluated by the structure equation.

The advent of digitalisation has transformed economies into more integrated, but increasingly complex systems. This new trend has brought dynamic changes in the manufacturing sector through advanced ICT infrastructure, smart factories, digitally-controlled logistics, and skilled ICT-labour. The impacts of the digital economy on manufacturing could be best illustrated through "Industry 4.0." With this wave of technological advancement, countries aim to establish an industrial ecosystem where every manufacturing process and function is connected and interacts through digital networks. Industry 4.0 presents opportunities for Emerging Asia, as the region has emerged as a fast-growing manufacturing hub and particularly a production base for ICT goods. However, growing production capacity, increased exports, and increases in FDI in the field of ICT goods manufacturing have so far contributed little to the development and diffusion of ICT. A huge gap exists in the ICT uptake amongst countries and between small and large firms. This paper highlights the level of Industry 4.0 readiness of Emerging Asia and key factors that determine its enhancement.

The document is a white paper on Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography (HILIC) analysis method development. HILIC is a type of chromatography that uses an organic/aqueous mobile phase and a polar stationary phase. In HILIC, water is a strong solvent, and unlike in Reversed Phase Liquid Chromatography (RPLC), increasing the proportion of water in the mobile phase reduces the retention time of the analyte. The paper discusses when to consider HILIC analysis methods, the advantages of HILIC, and the challenges often encountered due to the lack of understanding of HILIC mechanisms compared to RPLC. It also provides a systematic flowchart for intelligent solutions for HILIC analysis method development, which includes a three-step approach for chromatography analysis method development. The first step involves gathering as much information as possible about the analyte (e.g., pKa, log P, log D). The second step involves analyzing the sample under different pH conditions using three HILIC columns in either isocratic or gradient mode to identify the suitable column/pH combination for the analyte. The third step involves optimizing the separation by investigating other parameters such as temperature and ionic strength, and assessing the robustness of the method. The paper emphasizes that the selection of the appropriate stationary/mobile phase combination, based on the differences between the HILIC stationary phases and the mobile phase pH, can provide high selectivity in the analysis. This step-by-step approach can help users develop an efficient analysis method.

In this study, we analyzed the anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities of seven medicinal herbs. All extracts of the tested herbs, Euryale ferox Salisbury, Echinops setifer Iljin, Amomum cardamomum Linne, Tetrapanax papyriferus, Illicium verum Hook. f., Typha orientalis Presl, and Piper longum Linne, exhibited potent anti-oxidative activity as confirmed by DPPH radical scavenging capacity. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced nitric oxide (NO) production, in the RAW 264.7 cell line, was also ameliorated by all extracts' treatments in a dose dependent manner. NO suppressive activity originated from the inhibition of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) protein expression by the extracts. Three extracts, E. ferox S., I. verum Hook. f., and P. longum L., possessed suppressive activity against, not only iNOS, but also cycloxygenase 2 (COX-2) protein expression. These three extracts may then serve as potential candidates for non steroidal analgesic inflammation drugs (NSAIDs). Furthermore, all extracts induced anti-oxidative enzyme, heme oxygenase 1, protein expression. Taken together, these results provide an important new insight into the fact that various medicinal herbs possess potent anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities and might be utilized as promising agents in the field of health products. Further studies for the identification of the active compounds from medicinal herbs are clearly needed.

The purpose of this study is to review systematically the literatures on the research of the elderly speech signal processing based on the domestic gender innovation and to introduce the utility and innovation of the gender analysis methods. From 2000 to present, among the 37 research papers published in the Korean Journal, 25 papers were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. And gender analysis methods were applied to gender research subject and design. Research results show diversity of research field and high gender recognition of R & D team are needed in research and development of engineering of gender innovation perspective. In addition, government-level regulation and research funding should be systematically applied to gender innovation research processes in the elderly voice signal processing and various gender innovation projects. In the future gender innovation in the elderly speech signal processing can contribute to the creation of a new market by developing a voice recognition system and service that reflects the needs of both men and women.

SMEs are being forced to continuously innovate their technologies for survival due to changes in the external industrial environment. In order to innovate technology or discover technology cooperation partners of SMEs, it is necessary to actively introduce open innovation, centering on industry-academia-research. However, SMEs need to use open innovation brokers due to their lack of access to external resources and difficulty in independent promotion, and accordingly, the role of open innovation brokers is important. Until now, performance factors and influencing factors have been studied mainly by technology providers in the field of technology transfer, and research on mediators is very insufficient. This study analyzes the role and function of technology transfer intermediaries to explore the role of open innovation intermediaries and how they differ from existing technology transfer intermediaries. This role of open innovation intermediaries is of practical significance in that it deals with the role of intermediaries based on the results of government support projects, and it is of academic significance to serve as the basis for future research on open innovation intermediaries.
