In this paper, we manufactured the regenerated FBG by the thermal annealing of seed FBG based on UV irradiation. The writing conditions of regenerated FBGs were investigated in four types of optical fiber. FBGs written in $H_2$-free fiber were erased and not regenerated during the thermal annealing. FBG written in $H_2$ loaded Boron co-doped fiber was erased at the temperature of about $580^{\circ}C$ and regenerated about $590^{\circ}C$. However, the extinction of regenerated FBG started at the temperature over $900^{\circ}C$ and then FBG disappeared out. FBG written in $H_2$ loaded Ge high doped fiber was erased and regenerated around the temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ and maintained until the end of the thermal annealing. The reflection of the regenerated FBG was decreased about 12 dB and the center wavelength of the regenerated FBG was shifted about 0.7 nm compared with that of the seed FBG. The thermal characteristics of the regenerated FBG were analyzed by reheating from room temperature to $980^{\circ}C$. As results, the regenerated FBG had survived without a decrease of reflection and the thermal sensitivity was $15pm^{\circ}C$.
In many medical image devices, dc noise often prevents normal diagnosis. In wireless capsule endoscopy systems, multipath fading through indoor wireless links induces inter-symbol interference (ISI) and indoor electric devices generate impulsive noise in the received signal. Moreover, dc noise, ISI, and impulsive noise are also found in optical fiber communication that can be used in remote medical diagnosis. In this paper, a blind signal processing method based on the biased probability density functions of constant modulus error that is robust to those problems that can cause error propagation in decision feedback (DF) methods is presented. Based on this property of robustness to error propagation, a DF version of the method is proposed. In the simulation for the impulse response of optical fiber channels having slowly varying dc noise and impulsive noise, the proposed DF method yields a performance enhancement of approximately 10 dB in mean squared error over its linear counterpart.
In this paper the effect of instability and chaos in optical fiber networks based on the Internet is described. Nonlinear optical fiber effect especially Brillouin scattering in networks has emerged as the essential means for the construction of active optical devices used for all-optic in-line switching, channel selection, amplification, oscillation in optical communications and a host of other applications. The inherent optical feedback by the back-scattered Stokes wave in optical networks also leads to instabilities in the form of optical chaos. This paradigm of optical chaos in fiber Internet serves as a test for fundamental study of chaos and its suppression and exploitation in practical application in optical fiber communication. This paper attempts to present a survey and some of our research findings on the nature of Brillouin chaotic effect on Internet based optical communication.

Due to their high degree of freedom to transfer and acquire light, fiber optics can be used in the presence of strong magnetic fields. Hence, optical sensing and imaging based on fiber optics can be integrated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnostic systems to acquire valuable information on biological tissues and organs based on a magnetic field. In this article, we explored the combination of MRI and optical sensing/imaging techniques by classifying them into the following topics: 1) functional near-infrared spectroscopy with functional MRI for brain studies and brain disease diagnoses, 2) integration of fiber-optic molecular imaging and optogenetic stimulation with MRI, and 3) optical therapeutic applications with an MRI guidance system. Through these investigations, we believe that a combination of MRI and optical sensing/imaging techniques can be employed as both research methods for multidisciplinary studies and clinical diagnostic/therapeutic devices.

In this paper, we designed a IoT(Internet of Things) sensor block embedded lightweight house deck structures that can be implemented using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP). Deck-Sensor interconnection interface block via IoT connectivity Hub that can mount external environmental sensors such as fire sensors on the Deck body itself was also proposed. Additionally we described the configuration of devices for data acquisition and analysis based on IoT environmental detection sensors that can be commonly installed and used on these deck bodies. On the other hand, received sensing data based monitoring user interface(UI) also developed and used for sensing data analysis for remote monitoring center. Through the implementation of such IoT-based sensor data transmission and collection analysis devices and UI software, this paper confirmed the availability of CFRP based lightweight House deck structure and possibility of CFRP deck-based IoT sensor data networking and analysis functions.
Carbon materials are widely used in many areas of our lives. A fiber having a carbon content of 90% or more obtained by heating an organic fiber precursor is referred to as a "carbon fiber". Carbon fibers are currently used in the medical market to manufacture radiation transmission device parts, artificial joints, and medical aids, as many developments have been made to utilize carbon fibers' characteristics such as light weight, radiation permeability, biocompatibility, high strength, high heat resistance, thermal conductivity, and electrical conductivity. In order to maintain body temperature and increase immunity in long-lasting nuclear medical examination and treatment through the idea of convergence of carbon materials and radiation technology, the quality of medical services can be improved by utilizing carbon materials. We should be aware of the domestic carbon-based medical device industry and make efforts to contribute to the development of medical devices. As a radiation expert, we should try to use our skills and experience to find items that can be fused with medical devices to develop various nuclear medical examination fields and radiographic examination fields that can be widely applied. We should actively engage in future technology development and carbon material research to strengthen the global competitiveness of the domestic medical device industry and improve the quality of medical services.
We propose and demonstrate a fabrication method of chirped fiber gratings by a thermal diffusion process. The method could suggest a direction for a simple and cost-effective implementation of chirped fiber grating-based devices.
We have fabricated a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) hybrid-integrated optical sub-assembly of a triplexer using a thin film filter (TFF)-attached wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) and photodiode (PD) carriers. Two types of TFFs were attached to a diced side of a silica-terraced PLC platform, and the PD carriers with a $45^{\circ}$ mirror on which pin-PDs were bonded were assembled with the platform. A clear transmitter eye-pattern and minimum receiver sensitivity of -24.5 dBm were obtained under 1.25 Gb/s operation for digital applications, and a second-order inter-modulation distortion (IMD2) of -70 dBc was achieved for an analog receiver.
Flexible fiber- or yarn-based one-dimensional (1-D) energy storage devices are essential for developing wearable electronics and have thus attracted considerable attention in various fields including ubiquitous healthcare (U-healthcare) systems and textile platforms. 1-D supercapacitors (SCs), in particular, are recognized as one of the most promising candidates to power wearable electronics due to their unique energy storage and high adaptability for the human body. They can be woven into textiles or effectively designed into diverse architectures for practical use in day-to-day life. This review summarizes recent important development and advances in fiber-based supercapacitors, concerning the active materials, fiber configuration, and applications. Active materials intended to enhance energy storage capability including carbon nanomaterials, metal oxides, and conductive polymers, are first discussed. With their loading methods for fiber electrodes, a summary of the four main types of fiber SCs (e.g., coil, supercoil, buckle, and hybrid structures) is then provided, followed by demonstrations of some practical applications including wearability and power supplies. Finally, the current challenges and perspectives in this field are made for future works.
