In this study, we have conducted a fire resistance experiment under loading condition on standard fire to evaluate the fire resistance performance according to applying reinforcement of methods for reinforcing the lateral confinement of reinforced bars (Wire Rope) and fire resistance reinforcement (Fiber-Cocktail) for 100 MPa high strength concrete column. In the result of the experiment, in case of the test objects applied by hoop, it has been shown as not possible to be applied as the fire resistance structure after satisfying the fire resistance performance for 43 minutes. In case of applying the wire rope as lateral confinement of reinforced bar, instead of hoop in identical volume ratio, it has been shown as possible to apply it to the buildings with under 4 floors after satisfying the fire resistance performance fro 69 minutes with any separate fire resistance process. Also, in case of applying with mixing wire rope method, instead of hoop, and Fiber-Cocktail mix method to prevent spall, it has been shown as possible to apply to the buildings with over 12 floors after satisfying the fire resistance performance for 180 minutes.

In the recent construction industry, an external strengthening method using fiber reinforced polymers has been widely used. Since reinforced concrete structures strengthened with fiber reinforced polymers are always under sustained loads, influence of creep and shrinkage on the structures is inevitable. Due to the creep and shrinkage, behaviors of the structures, such as deflection, deformation, recovery capability, strength and so on are also under the influence of creep and shrinkage. Thus, in order to estimate efficacy, creep recovery and residual strength of FRP strengthened RC beams, long-term flexural experiments and static flexural experiments were carried out. As the result of the experiments, FRP strengthened RC beams were very effective in terms of deflection control. Furthermore, the strengthened beams had higher immediate deformation recovery than immediate deformation. Through the static flexural experiments, it was shown that the CFRP strengthened beam had high residual strength. It seems that the sustained loads did not affect bond and residual strength of the beams.
Nowadays CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) became widely used materials for the strengthening and retrofitting of structures. Many experimental and analytical studies are encountered at literature about strengthening beams by using this kind of materials against static loads and cyclic loads such as earthquake or wind loading for investigating their behavior. But authors did not found any study about strengthening of RC beams by using CFRP against low velocity impact and investigating their behavior. For these reasons an experimental study is conducted on totally ten strengthened RC beams. Impact loading is applied on to specimens by using an impact loading system that is designed by authors. Investigated parameters were concrete compression strength and drop height. Two different sets of specimens with different concrete compression strength tested under the impact loading that are applied by dropping constant weight hammer from five different heights. The acceleration arises from the impact loading is measured against time. The change of velocity, displacement and energy are calculated for all specimens. The failure modes of the specimens with normal and high concrete compression strength are observed under the loading of constant weight impact hammer that are dropped from different heights. Impact behaviors of beams are positively affected from the strengthening with CFRP. Measured accelerations, the number of drops up to failure and dissipated energy are increased. Finite element analysis that are made by using ABAQUS software is used for the simulation of experiments, and model gave compatible results with experiments.

Coupled shear walls consist of two or more in-plane walls inter-connected with coupling beams. In order to effectively resist seismic loads, coupling beams must be sufficiently stiff, strong and posses a stable load-deflection hysteretic response. Much of requirements to the civil and building structures have recently been changed in accordance with the social and economic progress. Ductility of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites(HPFRCCs), which exhibit strain hardening and multiple crackling characteristics under the uniaxial tensile stress is drastically improved. This paper provides background for design guidelines that include a design model to calculate the shear strength of pseudo strain hardening cementitious composite steel coupling beam.
High Strength Concrete (HSC) has a disadvantage of the brittle failure under fire due to the spalling. The studies on spalling control method of new constructed HSC buildings were performed enough, but the studies on existing buildings are insufficient. The new inorganic refractory mortar is developed in this study. The insulating capacity is enhanced by using light weight fine aggregate and polypropylene (PP) fiber. In results of material test, the thermal conductivity of light weight fine aggregate get lower than general fine aggregate. And in results of column test, the fire resisting time is delayed 20 minutes by using light weight fine aggregate, 10 minutes by increasing finishing depth from 10 mm to 20 mm and 4 minutes by using 0.6 % PP fiber.
To overcome weak and brittle tensile characteristics of concrete, many studies have been conducted on fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). Recently, high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCC), which shows strain hardening behavior, has been actively investigated. However, most of the studies focused on the material behavior of HPFRCC itself. Only a few studies have been conducted on the tensile behavior of HPFRCC with steel reinforcement. Therefore, a tension stiffening test for HPFRCC members has been conducted in this study in order to investigate the effect of a reinforcing bar on the tensile behavior of HPFRCC. Tensile stress-strain relationship of HPFRCC has been derived from the tests. The HPFRCC resisted tensile stress continuously from the first cracking to the yield of reinforcing bar. Through the comparison with the tensile behavior of HPFRCC members without a reinforcement, it was shown the tensile strength and capacity of HPFRCC were reduced due to the combined effect of the high shrinkage of HPFRCC, restraining effect of steel reinforcement, and the strain hardening behavior of HPFRCC. It is expected that the tension stiffening test results can be useful for an application of HPFRCC with steel reinforcement as structural members.

Corbels are short cantilevers that project from the faces of a column and are a type of stress disturbed member, resisting both the ultimate shear force applied to them by the beam, and the ultimate horizontal force caused by shrinkage, temperature changes, and creep of the supported elements. Recently, as there have been an increase in the use of high-strength concrete and the concern about corrosion problems, lots of researches about hybrid reinforcing technique, applying strategically high performance reinforcements to the concrete elements, are performed. In this study, fiber reinforced high strength concrete corbels were constructed and tested for applying hybrid reinforcing technique to the corbels using steel fibers and headed bars. The results showed that the performance in terms of load carrying capacities, stiffness, ductility, and crack width was improved, as the steel fibers were added and the percentage of steel fibers was increased. In addition, the corbel specimens used headed bars as main tension ties showed superior load carrying capacities, stiffness, and ductility to the corbel specimens anchored main tension ties by welding to the transverse bars.

The unique thermomechanical properties of shape memory alloys (SMAs) make it a versatile material for strengthening and repairing structures. In particular, several research studies have already demonstrated the effectiveness of using the heat activated shape memory effect of nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) based SMAs to actively confine concrete members. Despite the proven effectiveness and wide commercial availability of Ni-Ti SMAs, however, their high cost remains a major obstacle for applications in real structural engineering projects. In this study, the shape memory effect of a new, much more economical iron-based SMA (Fe-SMA) is characterized and the compressive behavior of concrete confined with Fe-SMA strips is investigated. Tests showed the Fe-SMA strips used in this study are capable of developing high levels of recovery stress and can be easily formed into hoops to provide effective active and passive confining pressure to concrete members. Compared to concrete cylinders confined with conventional carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites, Fe-SMA confinement yielded significantly higher compressive deformation capacity and residual strength. Overall, the compressive behavior of Fe-SMA confined concrete was comparable to that of Ni-Ti SMA confined concrete. This study clearly shows the potential for Fe-SMA as a robust and cost-effective strengthening solution for concrete structures and opens possibilities for more practical applications.
The flexural behavior test of UHPC segmental box girder which has 160 MPa compressive strength and 15.4 m length was carried out. The effect of steel fibers in combination with reinforcing bars on improving the ductile performance of UHPC box girder was evaluated by comparing the flexural behavior of the UHPC segmental box girders made by the two kinds of mixing portion. The test variables are volume fraction of steel fibers and the arrangement of reinforcing bars. The behavior of UHPC box girder BF2 composed of 1% volume fraction of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcing bars in web and upper flange with stirrup showed the similar ductile behavior with the girder BF1 composed of 2% volume fraction without stirrup in elastic stress region. But BF1 had the better stiffness and showed the more ductile behavior in inelastic stress region. Segmental interfaces of UHPC box girder have not any crack and slide until the final flexural collapse load.

CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) can maintain the same strength even if the diameter is reduced by about one - third, and the weight is about one - twentieth of that of the deformed reinforcing bars that have been used in the construction industry. In particular, it is resistant to corrosion, which is the weakest part of reinf orcing bars, and there is no concern that it will deteriorate over time, It is light and durable, so transportation costs are low and it is convenient for high-rise buildings. This paper experimentally clarifies the adhesive properties of CFRP and clarifies its behavior. That is, bond strength test was conducted with the directness of CFRP and the strength of concrete as experimental variables, and the bond mechanism was clarified experimentally. Furthermore, based on the experimental results, we constructed the bond stress-slip-strain relationship of CFRP compared to the existing deformed reinforcing bars.
