  • The characteristics of the Cotton/Polyester(C/P) blended slivers produced by drawing process have greatly influenced on the structure and properties of final yarns.$\^$1)/ Especially, since the unevenness of slivers is decreased greatly with passage of drawing, the optimum condition of drawing process is very important to improve the quality of yarns.(omitted)

  • The fiber drawing process induced defects in silica fiber have been investigated. This study has focused on the Oxygen Deficient Centers (ODCs) and E' centers induced by the fiberization process in low-OH silica fibers. To investigate those defects induced by the fiberization process, the optical absorption spectrum and Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) have both been employed. The concentration of Oxygen Deficient Centers (ODCs) and E' centers are increased by the fiber drawing process. The population of defects in the neck-down region has also been investigated. The most significant generation of defects during fiber drawing process has been shown to occur in this region of silica preform. The population of defects is higher on the edge region than in the center of neck-down region.

  • High Modulus and high tenacity polypropylene fibers have been prepared by drawing on a gradient heater. Results show that fiber properties are significantly affected by temperature profiles of final stage drawing on a gradient heater. The gradient drawn filaments showed superior mechanical properties when compared to filaments drawn over a constant temperature heater. Fibers with initial modulus of 16.4 GPa and tenacity of 670 MPa have been manufactured in the process. The nature of the gradient drawing had a significant effect on end properties. The superior mechanical properties are attributed to the high crystal perfection and crystallinity and low void fractions obtained at high draw ratios when drawn over a gradient heater.

  • The crystal structure of nylon 56 fibers post extended by drawing process was investigated by synchrotron x-ray scattering measurement. In as-cast fiber, distinct (004) and (020) diffraction peaks were observed and they were related to initial metastable alignment of nylon molecules. With increase in the drawing ratio, (110) peak intensity was increased in vertical direction with decreasing (020) peak. At the same time, (004)' peak evolved position tilted to 29 degrees from the (004) peak. This evolution is directly related to stable crystalline phase of nylon 56 originated from additional formation of hydrogen bondings between N-H and C=O by post drawing process. We also compared density variation, stress-strain curves of the fiber as a function of drawing ratio and strain. The variations of density and tanacity also supported the increase of stable structure of nylon 56.

  • In this paper, the regenerated silk fibroin (SF)/nylon 6 blend filaments were fabricated using wet spinning technique and the effect of coagulant on the post drawing and morphology of blend filaments was investigated. In the result of wet spinnability, methanol, acetone, DMF, and THF showed relatively good coagulation strength and fiber formation for the regenerated SF. On the contrary, they did not exhibit strong enough to produce a uniform nylon 6 filament due to the lack of coagulation strength. In the examination of post drawing performance, methanol showed the highest maximum draw ratio of the blend filament over all blend ratios. The maximum draw ratio of SF/nylon 6 blend filaments decreased with the reduction of SF content regardless of type of coagulant. SEM observation showed the consistent result with that of post-drawing performance. As SF content decreased, the uniform and regular structure was changed to irregular one. In particular, the severe macro-phase separation between SF and nylon 6 could be detected in the 50/50 SF/nylon 6 blend filaments coagulated in methanol and THF.

  • The texture evolution by deep drawing was investigated and the lattice rotation rate was predicted using rate sensitive model with full constraints boundary conditions. The calculated textures show different behaviors with the amount of the flange deformation and initial crystal orientations. Among the crystal orientations located parallel to RD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the Cu component, the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {110}<001> and {110}<111> components during deep drawing. In the case of the part parallel to 45$^{\circ}$ with respect to RD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated about ND and the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber also rotated toward the (110)[23] and (110)[27] components about ND. In the part parallel to TD, the crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the Rotated Cube and the crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {110}<113> component.

  • Optical fiber is indispensable for optical communication systems that transmit large volumes of data at high speed, but super precision technology in sub-micron units is required for optical axis adjustment. We developed the automatic optical fiber by image processing and automatic loading system. we have developed 6-axis micro stage system for I/O optical fiber arrays, the initial automatic aligning system software for a input optical array by the image processing technique, fast I/O-synchronous aligning strategy, the automatic loading/unloading system and the automatic UV bonding mechanism. In order to adjust the alignment it used on PC based motion controller, a $10{\mu}m$ repeat-detailed drawing of automatic loading system is developed by a primary line up for high detailed drawing. Also, at this researches used the image processing system and algorithm instead of the existing a primary hand-line up and fiber input array and waveguide chip formed in line by automatic.

  • The texture evolution during deep drawing of AA1050 sheets was experimentally investigated and the lattice rotation rate was predicted using rate sensitive model with full constraints boundary conditions. The measured textures are dependent on the amount of the flange deformation and the initial crystal orientations. In the specimen parallel to RD the initial crystal orientations and the D component rotated toward the Cu component and the initial crystal orientations along the $\alpha$ fiber rotated toward the G {1 1 0}<0 0 1> and P {1 1 0} <1 1 1> components during deep drawing. In the specimen parallel to $45{\circ}$ with respect to RD the initial crystal orientations around the D component rotated about ND and the initial crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber also rotated toward the (1 1 0) [2 3] and (1 1 0)[2 7] components about ND. In the specimen parallel to TD. the initial crystal orientations around the D component rotated toward the rotated cube and the initial crystal orientations along the ${\alpha}$ fiber rotated toward the {1 1 0} <1 1 3> component.
