고품위 자성체 박막 코팅 시스템 (Coating System for High Quality Ferromagnetic Thin Films)

  • Nickel oxide thin films were deposited by the DC magnetron reactive sputtering process under the conditions such as various oxygen flow rates(0, 3, 6, 8, 10 sccm) with constant 33 sccm argon flow rate for the sputtering time of 40 second with the power of 0.3 kW. Sheet resistances were measured by the four point probes. In order to observe discharge voltage characteristics according to the oxygen flow rates, the sputtering processes were performed under the powers of 0.2kW and 0.3kW. The feasibility of the coating system for high quality ferromagnetic thin films was tested through the electromagnetic simulation and the thin film thickness measurement from the experiment. It was shown that a discharge voltage was decreased under the low power and low oxygen flow rate, since the oxygen was quickly saturated on nickel target surface. The sheet resistance was increased as oxygen flow rate increased. The film thickness deposited by the coating system for ferromagnetic target was improved approximately 10% in comparison with previous coating systems.

비정질 CoFeHfO 박막 재료의 마이크로파 투자율 및 감쇠상수 분석 (Analysis of Microwave Permeability and Damping Constant in Amorphous CoFeHfO Thin Film)

  • 전도성 저항특성이 우수한 비정질 CoFeHfO재료의 자화곡선 및 토오크 측정으로부터 포화자화량 및 일축이방성상수를 도출하였으며, 이들 결과를 Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert(LLG) 이론에 적용하여 마이크로파대역의 복소투자율 특성을 분석하였다. LLG 분석 결과 CoFeHfO 박막 재료의 감쇠상수(damping factor)는 ${\alpha}$ = 0.014로 매우 작은 값을 보였다. 이는 CoFeHfO 재료 내에 존재하는 다양한 자성상(magnetic phase)들 중 감쇠상수가 현저히 작은 자성상들에 의하여 유발되었음을 자기장의 세기에 따른 FMR(ferromagnetic resonance) 신호의 선폭 분석을 통하여 알 수 있었다.

Huge Enhancement of Magneto-optical Kerr Effect of One-dimensional Photonic Crystals with a Ferromagnetic Defect Layer

  • Although the rotation angle and its spectrum of the magneto-optical Kerr effect are physical quantities determined inherently by the material itself, we found that they can widely be designed by utilizing a one-dimensional photonic crystal with a ferromagnetic defect layer. By suitable choice of the film structure, the rotation angle at a designated narrow wavelength is resonantly enhanced up to as several hundred times larger as ordinary rotation angle of the magnetic. This is originated by the localization of light at the magnetic layer inside the film.

THE EFFECT OF OVER AND UNDERLAYER ON THE MAGNETORESISTANCE IN Co-Ag NANO-GRANULAR ALLOY FILMS

  • The composition and thickness dependence and the ferromagnetic under- and overlayer effect on the magnetoresistance ratio and saturation field of the Co-Ag nano-granular films were investigated. The maximum magnetoresistance (23% at R.T.) in the as-deposited state was obtained in the $3000{\AA}$ $Co_{30} Ag_{70}$ bare alloy film. As the thickness of the alloy films decreased below $500{\AA}$, the MR ratio decreased because of the resistivity increase and the non-uniform film formation. We showed that the ferromagnetic over- and underlayer could reduce the saturation field of the nano-granular films via exchange coupling effect. The magnetoresistance and the saturation field of the $100{\AA}$ alloy film were 3.65 % and 2.85 kOe respectively and those of the under- and overlayered alloy films with $200{\AA}$ Fe were 3.3 % and 1.23 kOe respectively.

Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of two metallic phase magnet Co/Co$_2$TiSn films

  • The magneto-optical properties of Co/Co$_2$TiSn two-phase magnet films were studied. These films show that relatively large Kerr rotations which are -0.4 deg. at the wavelength of 400 nm, compared to that of pure Co. It is conceivable that the magneto-optical effects may be due to both contributions of ferromagnetic Co matrix and ferromagnetic Co$_2$TiSn Heusler alloy precipitate. The perpendicular magnetization curve domonstrates a typical bubble domain hysteresis loop. the saturation magnetization change of the annealed film is less sensitive to temperature in the low temperature region and the Curie temperature of Co$_2$TiSn Heusler alloy precipitate is a little higher in the annealed film. These can be explained by the increase of the number of Co-Co exchange interaction in Heusler alloy structure resulting from the change of chemical ordering by annealing.

Nano-Granular Co-Fe-AI-O Soft Ferromagnetic Thin Films for GHz Magnetic Device Applications

  • Co-Fe-Al-O nanogranular thin films were fabricated by RF-magnetron sputtering under an $Ar+O_2$ atmosphere. High resolution transmission electron microscopy revealed that the Co-Fe-Al-O films are composed of bcc (Co, Fe) nanograins finer than 5 nm and an Al-O amorphous phase. A very large electrical resistivity of $374{\mu}{\Omega}cm$ was obtained, together with a large uniaxial anisotropy field of 50 Oe, a hard axis coercivity of 1.25 Oe, and a saturation magnetization of 12.9 kG. The actual part of the relative permeability was measured to be 260 at low frequencies and this value was maintained up to 1.3 GHz. The ferromagnetic resonance frequency was 2.24 GHz. The resulting Co-Fe-Al-O nanogranular thin films with a high electrical resistivity and high resonance frequency are considered to be suitable for GHz magnetic device applications.

강자기 소용돌이의 단조화 운동 유도 및 수치 검증 (Derivation and Numerical Verification of Harmonic Oscillatory Description of Ferromagnetic Vortex Motion)

  • 본 논문에서는 수 백 나노미터 크기의 자성 소자에서 존재하는 강자기 소용돌이 구조의 운동에 대한 이론을 제시한다. LLG 방정식으로부터 유도된 운동방정식, 즉 Thiele 방정식에 그 이후 밝혀진 이론적 결과들을 도입하여 강자기 소용돌이의 감쇠 단조화 운동방정식을 도출하였다. 이러한 운동방정식으로부터 감쇠 단조화 운동의 고유 진동수와 감쇠 상수를 나타내는 수식을 유도하였으며, 유도된 수식을 micromagnetic 시늉 실험을 통하여 검증하였다.

CoFeB 박막 재료에서 강자성 및 스핀파 공명 신호 분석 (Analysis of Ferromagnetic and Spin Wave Resonance Signals in CoFeB Thin Films)

  • 본 연구에서는 두께가 다른 비정질 CoFeB 박막 재료에서 측정한 강자성 및 스핀파 공명 신호를 비교 분석하였다. 강자성 공명 자기장($H_{FMR}$)은 두께에 거의 무관하게 일정한 값을 갖는 반면 스핀파 공명 자기장($H_{SWR}$)은 CoFeB의 두께에 의존하는 스핀파 모드들에 대한 이론 값과 일치하였다. 수평면에서 자기장 각도에 따른 $H_{FMR}$ 측정 결과로부터 CoFeB 재료의 일축이방성 자기장은 37 Oe였다. 한편 $H_{SWR}$$H_{FMR}$과 동일한 각도 의존성을 보였으며, 스핀파 공명 신호의 크기는 강자성 공명 신호에 비하여 약 5.7배 증가하였다. 이러한 증가는 비정질 재료의 작은 감쇠 상수에 의한 저감이 작은 스핀파의 진행 특성 및 균일한 자화에 의한 이상적인 정상파 형성 조건에 기인함을 알 수 있었다.

RF Characterizations of Patterned CoNbZr Magnetic Thin Film on Transmission Line

  • The microwave power absorption for the patterned CoNbZr magnetic film has been investigated by coplanar waveguide method. The power absorption peaks of the patterned CoNbZr film (50 ${\mu}m$ ${\times}$ 2 mm ${\times}$ 2 ${\mu}m$), were observed at around 5.7 GHz. The observed resonance peak was in good agreement with calculated ferromagnetic resonance frequency including magnetic shape anisotropy effects. Compared with the coplanar waveguide without a magnetic film, the characteristic impedance of patterned film was shown to be increased. This resulted from the large increment of inductance up to 33 % without any significant changes of the capacitance.

  • This paper presents characterization and analysis of integrated ferromagnetic inductors in RF regime. Two different materials (CoFe/NiFe) are used as ferromagnetic material. Systematic studies of the inductance (L), the Q-factor (Q) and the structure of the inductor have been performed.
