연삭조건 변화에 따른 가공물의 온도 분포 (Temperature Distribution of Workpiece Varying with Grinding Condition)

  • Grinding temperature between a grinding wheel and a workpiece surface, rising rapidly during a machining operation, has bad effects on a surface integrity such as the burning, the residual stress and the crack. In this study, the temperature distribution was obtained briefly by the finite element method and the grinding temperature of a workpiece varying with the grinding condition was measured experimentally. For obtaining the grinding temperature, a thermocouple method was applied. Three thermocouples were inserted in a surface of each workpiece. Changed grinding conditions were the depth of cuts, the feedrate, the dry and wet grinding, the up and down grinding and the number of pieces.

  • The high-speed machining is one of the most effective technology to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and high feedrate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and moulds. In this paper, high-speed milling for HP-4 die material was carried out with coated tungsten carbide ball endmill. In the high-speed machining, the cutting force and surface roughness of workpiece show very various characteristics at different cutting conditions. Especially surface roughness of workpiece depends largely on pick feed and feed per revolution of ball endmill. In the condition that pick feed and feed per revolution are equal, better surface roughness is measured. By obtaining good surface roughness at high speed, efficiency of machining can be increased.

  • Free-form shapes which were once considered as an aesthetic feature are now an important functional requirement. CNC industries are looking for a compact solution for reproducing free-form shapes as conventional interpolation models are inadequate, The parametric curve interpolator developed in the last decade has clearly emerged as favorite among its contemporaries in recent years, At present intense research has been done on parametric curve interpolators and interesting developments are reported. Out of the various parametric representations for curves and surfaces, NURBS has been standardized and widely used in free-form shape design. This paper presents a review of various methods of parametric interpolation for NURBS and discusses the salient features, problems and solutions. Recent approaches on variable feedrate interpolation, parameter compensation are also reviewed and research trends are addressed finally.

  • In recent years, the demands of the aspherical glass lenses increase since it is difficult to obtain the desirable performance in the plastic lens. Glass lens is manufactured by the forming with high precision mold core. This paper presents the analysis of optimal grinding condition of tungsten carbide(WC, Co0.5%) using design of experiments(DOE). The process parameters are turbin spindle, work spindle, feedrate and depth of cut. The experiments results are evaluated by MINITAB software.

다구찌방법을 이용한 다축 동시 PID 제어시스템의 제어이득 조정 (Control Gain Tuning of a Simultaneous Multi-Axis PID Control System by Taguchi Method)

  • This paper presents a control gain tuning scheme for multi-axis PID control systems by Taguchi method. As an experimental set-up, a parallel mechanism machine tool has been selected. This machine has eight servodrives and each servodrive has four control gains, respectively. Therefore, total 32 control gains have to be tuned. Through a series of design of experiments, an optimal and robust set of PID control gains is tuned. The index of the sum of position error and velocity error is reduced to 61.4% after the experimental gain tuning regardless of the feedrate variation.

칩브레이크 선정을 위한 Taguchi 방법의 적용 (Application of Taguchi Method for the Selection of Chip Breaker)

  • Chip control is a major problem in automatic machining process, especially in finish turning operation. In this case, chip breaker is one of the important factors to be determined. As unbroken chips are grown. these deteriorate the surface roughness. and proces automation can not be carried out. In this study to get rid of chip curling problem while turning internal hole. optimal chip breaker is selected from the experiment. The experiment is planned with Taguchi's method that is based on the orthogonal arrary of design factors. From the response table. cutting speed, feedrate, depth of cut and tool geometry turn to be major factors affecting chip formation. Then, optimal chip breaker is selected. and this is verified as good enough for chip control from the experiment.

  • In this paper, a new adaptive cross-coupling control (CCC) method with an improved contour error model is proposed to maintain contouring precision in high-speed nonlinear contour machining. The proposed method utilizes variable controller gains based on the instantaneous curvature of a contour and the feedrate command. In addition, a real-time federate adaptation scheme is included in the proposed CCC to regulate cutting force. The proposed method is evaluated and compared with the conventional CCC for nonlinear contouring motion through computer simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed CCC improves the contouring accuracy and regulates cutting force more effectively than the existing method.

  • 본 연구에서는 Koren과 Masory가 개발하여 적분제어기에 적용한 제어알고리즘 을, 제어기 반응속도를 향상시키기 위하여 비례적분제어기에 적용하는 방법을 제시하 고자 한다. 실험을 통하여 제어시스템을 모델링하고, 근궤적법을 이용하여 시스템을 안정하게 유지하기 위한 개회로 이득을 선정하며, 기존의 보통선반을 적응제어시스템 으로 개발하여 고정이득 비례적분제어기와 가변이득 비례적분제어기의 성능을 실험을 통하여 비교하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, investigated are the machining characteristics such as material removal rate and machining time with respect to discharge area and capacitance in micro electrical discharge machining (MEDM). As discharge area determined by the electrode size and capacitance change, the optimal feedrate to allow the minimum machining time changes. The smaller discharge area is, the lower MRR becomes because of the area effect. As the capacitance increases, MRR also increases. However there is the limit capacitance beyond which the MRR does not increase anymore. As the discharge area increases, the limit capacitance also increases.

  • The continuous chip in turning operation deteriorates the precision of workpiece and can cause a hazardous condition to operator. Thus the chip form control becomes a very important task for reliable turning process. Using the difference of energy radiated from the chip, the chip form is identified using the neural network of supervised data. The feed mechanism is adjusted in order to break continuous chip according to the result of the chip form recognition and shows a good approach for precision turning operation.
