Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the guidelines for cleaning the feeding bags by comparing the level of contamination according to cleaning and disinfection methods when feeding tube of Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit patients. Methods: This study was a true-experimental study, with 48 cases in total. The feeding bag of 48 patients were randomly assigned to detergent cleaning method or disinfectant decontamination method. The period of the experiment was January to July 2008, and enteral nutrition was given within 30 minutes for 2 hours, 4 times a day at 7AM, noon, 5PM, and 9PM for seven days. Feeding bags were cleaned after each feeding according to the assigned cleaning and disinfection method followed by microbial cultures on 4th and 8th day before the 7AM feeding. Results: After three and seven days of feeding and cleaning, the level of contamination was significantly lower when bags were cleaned with disinfectant than cleaning with detergent and tepid water. Conclusion: In cases where feeding bags are reused, for example, intensive care unit and home care settings, study findings indicate that cleaning bags with disinfectant is an effective way to prevent contamination of bags.
This retrospective descriptive study was done to identify maternal characteristics related to infant feeding methods. Data were collected by self-report from 90 mothers who visited a health clinic in Seoul between July 30 and August 14, 2001. The mothers were classified into 3 groups according to the feeding method at 4 weeks after childbirth; Exclusive breast feeding group, Mixed breast feeding group, Bottle feeding group. Mothers using exclusive breast feeding accounted for 46.6% of the mothers, those using mixed breast feeding, 26.7%, and those using bottle feeding, 26.7%. Although the percentage of mothers using exclusive breast feeding was higher, there was no significant difference among the groups. In our research, characteristics related to the mother were found to be in a state of change. Mothers with higher education and having a job had higher rates for exclusive breast feeding. This result is different from that of earlier research. Further research is needed to confirm these characteristics. In order to increase the rate for exclusive breast feeding and the duration of breast feeding, nurses need to provide programs aimed at fostering breast feeding and these programs should be based on characteristics related to breast feeding shown in our research.
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the effects of an individual breast-feeding promotion program to address breast-feeding knowledge, attitude, method and rate of practice for married immigrant women. Methods: A non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental design was used (experimental group=16, control group=17). The intervention consisted of 3 phases: (1) Within 2 hours of delivery - individual breast-feeding training through video/verbal/practical training education and demonstration (2) After 1~2 days - group training using video, model doll, and breast models (3) After 7 days - family visit, counseling, retraining and reinforcement training. The data were analyzed using non-parametric tests with the SPSS program. Results: Married immigrant women who participated in the individual breast-feeding program scored high in knowledge, attitude, method and rate of practice compared to the control group. Conclusion: The results indicate that the individual breast-feeding program is very effective in increasing breast-feeding knowledge, attitude, method and rate of practicing breast feeding for married immigrant women. So, nurses are encouraged to aggressively utilize individual breast-feeding programs to help married immigrant women, who are exposed to vulnerability due to various situations.
Purpose: One of the main reasons why mothers quit breast feeding is that the volume of breast milk is inadequate due to insufficiency in suckling. We believe suckling experience may be a factor affecting nipple confusion. So an alternative feeding method, namely cup, spoon, finger, or nasogastric tube feeding may be needed to prevent nipple confusion. The purpose of this study was to construct a predictive model for demand for alternative feeding education by nurses. Methods: A descriptive design with structured self-report questionnaires was used for this study. Data from 175 nurses working in hospitals in Busan were collected between April 1 and 15, 2009. Data were analyzed by decision tree method, one of the data mining techniques using SAS 9.1 and Enterprise Miner 4.3 program. Results: Of the nurses, 81.1% demanded alternative feeding education and 5 factors showed that most of them expressed intention to pay, desire to know about alternative feeding, age, and learning experience. From these results, the derived model is considered appropriative for explaining and predicting demand for alternative feeding education. Conclusion: This confirms that knowledge and compliance in alternative breast feeding for newborn babies should be correct and any inaccuracies or insufficient information should be supplemented.
Purpose: This study was done to investigate differences in maternal role confidence and parenting stress according to the infant's feeding method. Method: The participants were 257 mothers of infants aged 5$\sim$7 months. 145 breast-feeding mothers and 112 bottle-feeding mothers participated. The Maternal Role Confidence Scale and Parenting Stress Index(PSI) were used. Results: The score of maternal role confidence of breast-feeding mothers (3.28) was significantly higher than that of bottle-feeding mothers(2.84). In addition, the parenting stress level of breast-feeding mothers(1.80) was lower than that of bottle-feeding mothers(2.97). However, the scores of maternal role confidence and the parenting stress level were not different according to the mother's and infant's personality characteristics. There was a significant negative correlation between the score of maternal role confidence and parenting stress levels(r=-.55, p<.001). Conclusion: Breast feeding mothers had more confidence of their maternal role, and a lower parenting stress level. Therefore, nurses must encourage infant mothers to breast feed since it is the best option for mothers as well as infants.
The railway power feeding system is divided into AC power feeding system and DC power feeding system. In downtown area. DC power feeding system is used and AC power feeding system is used in intercity railway system. AC power feeding system raises a inductive disturbance that is divided into electrostatic induction and electromagnetic induction. Especially, it has a bad effect on communication lines. So inductive disturbance reduction method has been adopted in many system. In this paper, we deals with the inductive disturbance reduction method of railway power feeding system and of sides affected by inductive disturbance.
Cultivation of Spirulina platensis using ammonium salts or wastewater containing ammonium as alternative nitrogen sources is considered as a commercial way to reduce the production cost. In this research, by analyzing the relationship between biomass production and ammonium-N consumption in the fed-batch culture of Spirulina platensis using ammonium bicarbonate as a nitrogen nutrient source, an online adaptive control strategy based on optical density (OD) measurements for controlling ammonium feeding was presented. The ammonium concentration was successfully controlled between the cell growth inhibitory and limiting concentrations using this OD-based feedback feeding method. As a result, the maximum biomass concentration (2.98 g/l), productivity (0.237 g/l d), nitrogen-to-cell conversion factor (7.32 gX/gN), and contents of protein (64.1%) and chlorophyll (13.4mg/g) obtained by using the OD-based feedback feeding method were higher than those using the constant and variable feeding methods. The OD-based feedback feeding method could be recognized as an applicable way to control ammonium feeding and a benefit for Spirulina platensis cultivations.

In this paper, we propose a novel feeding method that uses a windshield ground in a vehicle. The feeding method enables for various antennas to integrate easily in a vehicle windshield. To connect a coaxial feeding cable directly to the windshield ground, we inserted a coaxial-to-ground adapter between the cable and the ground, and reflection coefficients using the proposed feeding method were compared to that using a conventional feeding method. The size and position of the windshield ground were optimized in order to achieve a high radiation gain in the azimuth direction. Then the triangular WiBro patch antenna, incorporating the proposed feeding method, was designed and installed on a rear windshield of a commercial sedan. The antenna using the proposed feeding method shows a similar reflection coefficient, and it shows 2 dB increased average azimuth radiation gain compared to that using a conventional sash ground method. These results demonstrate that the proposed feeding method can be applicable for integrating multiple antennas in a rear windshield.
This survey was conduced to investigate the feeding methods of mothers in Suwon, Kyungkido. Incidence of breast feeding was 29.9eA of the Interviewed mothers, which showed lower percentages than those of previous surveys. The jai or factors influencing the method of infant feeding were generally depended on mother rather than infant. The mothers who had a higher income and a higher academic career tended to pre(or the bottle feeding to the other. md first birth order made them select the breast feeding rather than the other. Generally mothers knew the information about infant nutrition very well (91.0%), but their knowledge actually did not work. The sources of mother's Information on the Infant nutrition were the books of rearing infants and magazine. But there were some discrepancies between the actual and needed source of information : i.e. mothers wanted to acquire their information from mass communication.
In this study, I made researches of 510 mothers who breed their infants in total (256 boys & 254 girls), among which 410 in urban area and 100 in the rural area, as an object of the investigation so as to make an intensive examination and analysis of the actual state of feeding nutritive method, grasp several related factors, and finally suggest the elementary data for both campaign encouraging breast feeding and the infant feeding education. 1. Mothers showed the meaningful local differences as in an education and income level at 1% and as in a delivery type at 5%. 2. To have decided the feeding conditions according to the residences by the Kaup index distribution (P<0.05) resulted in a meaningful difference according to regions and also made us be more thoughtful of the overnutrition in the urban area than in the rural area, and it didn't showed a meaningful difference the nutritive state according to the infant feeding method thought desirable (P<0.01). 3. The feeding methods consist of breast feeding at 21.8%, artificial feeding at 48.8%, and the mixed one at 29.4%. As for the feeding method thought desirable, breast feeding was 52%. Even though they were thinking that breast feeding is better, the breast feeding case didn't go beyond 32.5% only and as for the actual feeding methods it showed a meaningful difference according to the feeding method thought desirable (P<0.01). 4. Regarding the reasons why they chose breast milk, it was 64%, the most because mother's milk contains the immune system, 63.1% for the baby's health, 52.3% because of its most because breast milk is of little quantity, 37.8% because of the mother's occupation, 14.1% because they have fed the baby artificially from the beginning and so on. Considering the reasons why they chose the mixed feeding, it was 70.7%, the most because the amount of breast milk a little, 27.3%, the next one, because of the mother's occupation and so on. 5. The respondents who answered that how to increase the number of breast feeding population depends on the reinforcement of breast feeding education for the women were 190 (37.3%), the most among all 150 persons and those who had the opinion that they should spread and actualize the temporary childcare rest (from office) system for the women who have jobs were the secondly most, 107 (21%).
