Differences in liver microRNA profiling in pigs with low and high feed efficiency

  • Feed cost is the main factor affecting the economic benefits of pig industry. Improving the feed efficiency (FE) can reduce the feed cost and improve the economic benefits of pig breeding enterprises. Liver is a complex metabolic organ which affects the distribution of nutrients and regulates the efficiency of energy conversion from nutrients to muscle or fat, thereby affecting feed efficiency. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that can regulate feed efficiency through the modulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. In this study, we analyzed miRNA profiling of liver tissues in High-FE and Low-FE pigs for the purpose of identifying key miRNAs related to feed efficiency. A total 212~221 annotated porcine miRNAs and 136~281 novel miRNAs were identified in the pig liver. Among them, 188 annotated miRNAs were co-expressed in High-FE and Low-FE pigs. The 14 miRNAs were significantly differentially expressed (DE) in the livers of high-FE pigs and low-FE pigs, of which 5 were downregulated and 9 were upregulated. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis of liver DE miRNAs in high-FE pigs and low-FE pigs indicated that the target genes of DE miRNAs were significantly enriched in insulin signaling pathway, Gonadotropin-releasing hormone signaling pathway, and mammalian target of rapamycin signaling pathway. To verify the reliability of sequencing results, 5 DE miRNAs were randomly selected for quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The qRT-PCR results of miRNAs were confirmed to be consistent with sequencing data. DE miRNA data indicated that liver-specific miRNAs synergistically acted with mRNAs to improve feed efficiency. The liver miRNAs expression analysis revealed the metabolic pathways by which the liver miRNAs regulate pig feed efficiency.

  • 배합사료생산(配合飼料生産)에 소요(所要)되는 운전비용(運轉費用)을 추정(推定)하기 위(爲)하여 소요(所要)에너지, 소요노동력(所要努動力), 유지(維持) 및 수리비(修理費)를 분석(分析)하여 공장규모(工場規模) 및 사료생산종류(飼料生産種類)에 따른 수학적모형을 개발(開發)하였다. 에너지비용(費用)은 전기비용(電氣費用)과 연료비용(燃料費用)으로 구분(區分)하였으며 소요노동력(所要努動力)은 생산노동력(生産努動力), 관리자노동력(管理者努動力) 그리고 유지(維持) 및 수리노동력(修理努動力)으로 구분(區分)하였다.

Response of Growing and Laying Japanese Quails (Coturnix japonica) to Dietary Sunflower Seed Meal

  • High fibre (CF, 242 g/kg) sunflower seed meal (SSM) was incorporated in standard grower and layer quail diets at 0, 50, 75 or 100 g/kg replacing part of the soybean meal (SBM) and deoiled rice bran (DORB). Each grower diet was offered to 30 quails housed in battery cages from day one to 5 weeks of age. At the end of the growing period, Twelve female quails from each of the four respective dietary groups were transferred to the individual laying cages and their laying performance from 7 to 20 weeks of age were evaluated on diets containing SSM at similar levels as that during the growing period. The results of growth bioassay revealed that the live weight gain, feed intake, nutrient retention and carcass characteristics of quails in different dietary groups did not vary significantly (p>0.05), although the quails fed SSM based diets utilized the feed less (p<0.05) efficiently than those fed the control diet. During the laying period, the egg production and egg quality traits remained unaffected due to dietary treatments but feed required per unit egg production increased (p<0.05) as the level of SSM in diet was increased to 100 g/kg. Although, the cost of feed per kg decreased due to the incorporation of SSM in diet but the same was not reflected in feed cost per unit gain, meat or egg production as such parameters were comparable on all the diets. It could thus be concluded that the SSM can be incorporated in quail diets upto 100 g/kg for part of SBM, an item usually expensive and also in short supply in developing countries including India.

고속 볼 엔드밀링의 가공면 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Machined Surface by High Speed Ball End Milling)

  • Recently, high productivity and cost reduction becomes the most important target of industries due to the worldwide economic competition. One of these efforts is High Speed Machining(HSM), which reduces machining time with the increase of machining speed such as cutting speed and feedrate. It is very important, especially in case that the portion of machining time in production cost is high. This research suggests optimum cutting conditions to reduce cutting time with minimizing term error. For this study, a comprehensive model representing the texture of machining surface is developed, including rubbing phenomenon on the tip of ball end mill and expanded fibbing zone trajectory caused by tool deflection. Experiments show that the suggested set of feed and pick feed is optimum for maintaining the surface roughness identified by rubbing and low cutting speed in minimum.

산란계 사료의 에너지 및 단백질 수준이 하절기에 있어서 갈색산란계의 생산성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Energy and Protein Levels on the Performance of Brown Layer in Summer)

  • 본 시험은 산란계사료의 에너지 및 단백질 수준이 하절기에 있어서 갈색 산란계의 생산성에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 대사에너지 3수준(2,500, 2700 및 2900Kcal/kg)과 단백질 3수준(13, 15 및 17%)을 조합한 9개처리에 24주령된 Warren 산란계 720수를 공시하여 1983년 6월 3일부터 동년 8월 25일까지 12주간에 걸쳐 시험을 실시한 바 그 결과는 다음 요약과 같다. 1. 산란율은 에너지 수준이 증가할수록 점차 저하되었고 단백질 수준이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였다. 2. 란중은 에너지 수준에 따라서 큰 차이가 없었으나 단백질 수준이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 3. 사료섭취량은 에너지 수준이 증가할수록 점차 감소하였으나, 단백질 수준에 따라서는 차이가 없었다. 4. 사료요구율은 단백질 수준이 증가할수록 점차 개선되었다. 5. 폐사율은 사료중의 에너지 및 단백질 수준에 영향을 받지 않았다. 6. 1일수당 에너지 섭취량은 사료중의 에너지 수준이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였다. 7. 산란 kg당 대사에너지 요구량은 에너지 수준이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였으며 단백질 수준이 증가할수록 감소하였다. 8. 산란kg당 단백질 요구량은 에너지 및 단백질수준이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였다. 9. 산란kg당 사료비는 에너지 수준이 증가할수록 점차 증가하였고 단백질 수준이 증가할수록 점차 감소하였다.

난용계 육성기의 단백질 공급체계가 육성계의 성장 및 영양소 섭취량과 산란능력에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Protein Feeding Systems for Egg-type Growing Pullets on Pullet Growth, Nutrient Consumption and Subsequent Laying Performance)

  • Three protein feeding systems for egg-type pullets involving conventional step-down protein 18-15-12%), step-up protein(12-15-18%) and single-stage low protein (13-13-13%) with an iso-energy level of 2,900 ME kcal /kg were compared to examine the effect on pullet growth and subsequent laying performance. During the growing period, pullets subjected to the step-up and single-stage low protein feeding systems were lighter in body weight and consumed less feed and netabolizable energy than those on the conventional step-down protein feeding system(P<0.05). 3ut the pullets on the step-up protein diet consumed more protein, and those on the single-stage low protein diet consumed less protein than those on the step-down protein diet(P<0.05). Also, he feed cost was less in pullets on the single-stage low protein diet than in those on the other systems(P<0.05). During the laying period, sexual maturity was later in hens reared on the step-up and single-stage low protein diets than in those on the step-down protein diet(P<0.05), however, average hen-day egg production and egg weight were not significantly affected by the protein feeding systems in the growing period. Daily feed intake and feed required per egg were significantly reduced in hens on the single-stage low protein diet compared to those on conventional protein feeding system(P<0.05). It was concluded that the 13% single-stage low protein feeding system produced smaller pullets with less feed, energy, protein, and feed cost during the growing period, and hens reared on that system consumed less feed during the laying period without any impairment of production compared to the conventional rearing system.

  • Several nutrients in feed are needed for growth and maintenance of fish and protein among them is probably the most important factor influencing its growth and determining feed cost due to high Proportion. Besides, dietary energy level is critical because protein source in the feed was utilized as energy source when the feed deficient in energy was fed to fish, whereas when the feed excess in energy was fed to fish, feed consumption decreased and resulted in growth reduction due to lack of necessary other nutrients for the normal growth (Lovell 1989). 초등학교 급식시설 음식물쓰레기 재활용 실태 평가 (The Assessment of Recycling of Garbage Discharged from Primary Schools in Seoul)

  • Characteristics of food garbage discharged from primary schools in Seoul Metropolitan city were analysed from a recycling point of view. The results of study are epitomized as follows : 1. Factors of generation of food garbage are mainly an unbalanced diet habit, indifference of class teachers, and worn-out cooking equipments. 2. Measures of reduction are principally a written message to parents, broadcasting in the school, and instructions. 3. Methods of recycling are mainly feed stuff, composting by school itself, composting on commission, and making feed stuff on commission. 4. Obstacles of food garbage recycling are a nasty smell of composting apparatus, an excessive fuel consumption of composting apparatus, a high concentration of salt, and an unstable demand for feed stuff and compost produced from food garbage. 5. Correlation factors are like follows : the number of feeding children and food garbage weight after cooking is 0.35, total food garbage generated and monthly treatment cost of food garbage is 0.20, individual school lunch expenses and food garbage weight after cooking is -0.10, individual school lunch expenses and food garbage generated per capita is 0.02, and individual school lunch expenses and monthly treatment cost of food garbage is 0.03.

사출성형 해석을 이용한 자동차 램프 가니쉬 렌즈의 유동기구 및 공정조건의 설계 (Design of Feed System and Process Conditions for Automobile Lamp Garnish Lens with Injection Molding Analysis)

  • In this study, we design the feed system and process conditions for a lamp garnish lens of an automobile. For this purpose, four design alternatives are presented and injection molding simulation analyses are performed. The optimal feed system is selected by considering the formability of the product and the cost of mold manufacture. The product formability is assessed by the weld line, warpage, sink mark and the maximum injection pressure, whereas the mold-making cost is estimated by the number of valve gates in the hot runner system. To improve the product formability, process conditions are optimized using an experimental design approach named one-factor-at-a-time. No weld line is generated as a result of the optimization. In addition, it is found the warpage and sink mark are reduced while the maximum injection pressure is increased, compared with those before the optimization.

  • 정부의 신 재생에너지 분야 투자확대정책과는 달리 08년 발전차액지원 기준가격이 인하된 이후 태양광사업의 추진 건수가 대폭 감소되는 양상을 보이고 있다. 이는 전세계적 금융위기에 따른 재원조달의 어려움이 근본적 원인이기도 하지만, 현행 발전 차액지원 기준가격체계가 적정하지 못한데도 그 원인을 찾을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 입지와 형식별로 여러 대안을 설정하고, 비용 및 수익의 변동 리스크를 반영하는 기준가격 산정모델(Cost & Benefit Risk Based Purchase Price Process Model : CBRP3 Model)을 제안한다. 발전설비 대안별로 투자비와 발전량의 변동데이터를 산출하여 재무템플릿에 입력한 후 시뮬레이션을 실행하여 대안별 발전원가의 확률분포를 도출하고, 이를 기반으로 기준가격체계를 도출한다. 도출된 기준가격체계와 현행 발전차액지원 기준가격체계를 비교하고, 향후 연구과제를 제시한다.
