The magnetic properties and ordering behavior of Nb-doped FePt alloy films prepared by dc-magnetron sputtering were investigated. It was found that Nb addition retarded the ordering reaction from the disordered face-centered-cubic (fcc) Al phase to the ordered face-centered-tetragonal (fct) L10 phase. The tetragonality (c/a ratio) of the ordered fct L10 phase increased with the Nb concentration. Nb addition hampered c-axis contraction during ordering, probably because the larger Nb atoms occupy Pt sites. Consequently, the coercivity and magnetocrystalline anisotropic energy of Nb-doped FePt alloy films are lower than those of un-doped FePt film under equivalent annealing conditions.

$Ni_xFe_{100-x}$ films with a thickness of about 100nm were deposited on Si(100) substrates at room temperature by a DC magnetron co-sputtering using Fe and Ni targets. Compositional, structural, electrical and magnetic properties of the films were investigated. $Ni_{67}Fe_{33}$, $Ni_{55}Fe_{45}$, $Ni_{50}Fe_{50}$, $Ni_{45}Fe_{55}$, $Ni_{40}Fe_{60}$ films are obtained by increasing the sputtering power of the Fe target. The films of x < 55 have BCC structure and show the phase transformation after annealing at the range of $300{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. On the other hand, the films of x < 50 have the mixed crystalline phases of BCC and FCC after the annealing treatment. The saturation magnetization was decreased initially by the phase transformation effect but then increased again after annealing at $450^{\circ}C$ due to the grain growth and crystallization of BCC phases.

The magnetic and thermal properties of NiFe/IrMn/CoFe with Mn additions have been studied. As grown CoFe pinned-layers with IrMn-Mn have dominantly larger exchange biasing field( $H_{ex}$) and blocking temperature( $T_{b}$) than when pure I $r_{22}$M $n_{78}$ is used. The magnetic properties improve, $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$ improve with 77-78 vol% Mn, but drop considerably with more Mn additions, losing magnetic properties of theb NiFe/IrMn/CoFe with addition 0.6 vol % Mn. The average x-ray diffraction peak ratios fcc (111)CoFe of (111)IrM $n_3$ textures for the Mn inserted total vol of 75, 77, and 79 vol% were about 1.4, 0.8, and 0.6, respectively. For the sample without Mn inserted layer, the $H_{ex}$ between I $r_{22}$M $n_{78}$ and CoFe layers is almost nothing. For two multilayer as-grown samples with ultra-thin Mn layers of 77 vol % and 79 vol %, the $H_{ex}$s are 250 Oe and 150 Oe, respectively. In case of IrMn with 77.5 vol% Mn, the $H_{ex}$ was 444 Oe up to 30$0^{\circ}C$ endured of 363 Oe at 40$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Mn additions improve the magnetic properties and thermal stabilities of NiFe/IrMn/CoFe. Those increase the $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$. In applications where higher $H_{ex}$ and $T_{b}$ are accept, proper concentrations of Mn can be used.n can be used.be used.
We present a multi-step cold drawing for a non-equiatomic Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 high entropy alloy (HEA) with a simple face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. The distribution of strain in the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). The effective strain was expected to be higher as it was closer to the surface of the wire. However, the reverse shear strain acted to cause a transition in the shear strain behavior. The critical effective strain at which the shear strain transition behavior is completely shifted was predicted to be 4.75. Severely cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires up to 96% of the maximum cross-sectional reduction ratio were successfully manufactured without breakage. With the assistance of electron back-scattering diffraction and transmission electron microscope analyses, the abundant deformation twins were found in the region of high effective strain, which is a major strengthening mechanism for the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wire.
In order to study electronic structures for locally disordered systems, we have developed a first-principle self-con-sistent-spin-polarized real space band method (TB-LMTO-R), which combines the tight-binding(TB) linear-muffin-tin orbital(LMTO) band rrethod and the recursion(R) rrethod. The TB-LMTO-R rrethod has been applied to fer-romagnetic bec Fe, hcp Co, and fcc Ni. With varying cluster sizes, recursion coefficients, and the order of the TB-Hamiltonian, we have calculated the local density of states(LDOS) and magnetic moments. It is found that the calculation with 5,000 atoms cluster, 40 continued fractions, and the second-order TB-Hamiltonian yields a conver¬gent result in agreement with those from the conventional LMTO. In this way, we have demonstrated a physical transparency of the TB-LMTO-R method as a real space description.

The epitaxial TM/bcc-Cr(001) (TM=Fe, Co, Ni) multilayers have been prepared using MBE. The crystal structure, interlayer exchange coupling and magnetoresistance of those multilayers have been discussed. The structure of Fe, Co and Ni grown on bcc-Cr(001) exhibited bcc(001), distorted hcp(1120) and fcc(110), respectively. In Fe/Cr multilayes, an oscillatory exchange coupling has been observed, but not observed in Ni/Cr system, which may come from the large mixing at interfaces. Large MR ratio (116%, 4.2K) has been obtained in Fe/Cr system, but only 2% in Co/Cr system. This difference can be understood from the view point of the relative potential geight for down spin electrons between TM and Cr.

The effect of consolidation temperature on the microstructure, density and mechanical properties (especially, wear property) of $Al_{92.5}-Fe_{2.5}-Cr_{2.5}-Ti_{2.5}$ alloy fabricated by gas atomization and magnetic pulsed compaction was investigated. All consolidated alloys consisted of homogeneously distributed fine-grained fcc-Al matrix and intermetallic compounds. Relative higher mechanical properties in the MPCed specimen were attributed to the retention of the nanostructure in consolidated bulk without cracks. The as consolidated bulk by magnetic pulsed compaction showed the enhanced wear properties than that of a general consolidation process. In addition, the wear mechanism and fracture mode of MPCed bulk was discussed.

We report a simple eco-friendly process for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using aqueous extract from Coffea Arabica fruit. The formation of AuNPs was confirmed using absorption spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy images. FT-IR analysis demonstrates the major functional groups present in Coffee Arabica fruit extract before and after synthesizing AuNPs. The Face Center Cubic (FCC) polycrystalline nature of these particles was identified by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Taking into account the contribution of the biomass surrounding the AuNPs, dynamic light scattering (DLS) results revealed an average particle size of ~59 nm.
Vanadium nitride (VN) coatings were deposited using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) assisted sputtering at different ICP powers. Microstructural, crystallographic and mechanical characterizations were performed by FE-SEM, AFM, XRD and nanoindentation. The results show that ICP has significant effects on coating's microstructure, structural and mechanical properties of VN coatings. With an increase in ICP power, coating microstructure evolved from a porous columnar structure to a highly dense one. Single- phase cubic (FCC) VN coatings with different preferential orientations and residual stresses were obtained as a function of ICP power. Average crystal grain sizes of single phase cubic (FCC) VN coatings were decreased from 10.1 nm to 4.0 nm with an increase in ICP power. The maximum hardness of 28.2 GPa was obtained for the coatings deposited at ICP power of 200 W. The smoothest surface morphology with Ra roughness of 1.7 nm was obtained in the VN coating sputtered at ICP power of 200 W.

The microstructures and magnetic properties of electrodeposited Fe-45 wt%Ni-P alloys have been investigated. The structures of electrodeposited Fe-45 wt%Ni alloy was FCC i.e. ${\gamma}$ phase and the size of crystallite was 10 nm. The structure of electrodeposited Fe-45 wt%Ni-1 wt%P alloy showed ${\gamma}$ phase and 7 nm sized nanocrystalline. The electrodeposited Fe-45 wt%Ni-P alloys containing 2∼3 wt% of P exhibited ${\gamma}$ + $\alpha$ dual phases. The electrodeposited Fe-45 wt%Ni-P alloys above 3.5 wt% showed an amorphous structure. P in the alloys acted grain refining and phase changing element. The resistivity of the electrodeposited alloys increased with P contents. Effective permeability at high frequency (above 1 MHz) increased with P contents up to 2 wt% and this was ascribed to the easier magnetization rotation owing to the reduction of eddy current. Effective permeability decreased with P contents above 3 wt% and this was ascribed to the transformation of the ferromagnetism of Fe-45 wt%Ni alloy gradually into paramagnetism with the introduction of P into the electrodeposited alloy matrix.
