By using image recognition technology, this paper presents a new fault diagnosis method for rotating machinery with artificial immune algorithm. This method focuses on the vibration state parameter image. The main contribution of this paper is as follows: firstly, 3-D spectrum is created with raw vibrating signals. Secondly, feature information in the state parameter image of rotating machinery is extracted by using Wavelet Packet transformation. Finally, artificial immune algorithm is adopted to diagnose rotating machinery fault. On the modeling of 600MW turbine experimental bench, rotor's normal rate, fault of unbalance, misalignment and bearing pedestal looseness are being examined. It's demonstrated from the diagnosis example of rotating machinery that the proposed method can improve the accuracy rate and diagnosis system robust quality effectively.
Faults detection and containment requirements are typically allocated from a top-level specification as a percentage of total faults detection and containment, weighted by failure rate. This faults detection and containments are called as a fault coverage. The fault coverage requirements are typically allocated identically to all units in the system, without regard to complexity, cost of implementation or failure rate for each units. In this paper a simple methodology and mathematical model to support the allocation of system fault coverage rates to lower-level units by considering the inherent differences in reliability is presented. The models are formed as a form of constrained optimization. The objectives and constraints are modeled as a linear form and this problems are solved by linear programming. It is identified by simulation that the proposed solving methods for these problems are effective to such requirement allocating.

The software reliability growth model(SRGM) has been developed in order to estimate such reliability measures as remaining fault number, failure rate and reliability for the developing stage software. Almost of them assumed that the faults detected during testing were evetually removed. Namely, they have studied SRGM based on the assumption that the faults detected during testing were perfectly removed. The fault removing efficiency. however. IS imperfect and it is widely known as so in general. It is very difficult to remove detected fault perfectly because the fault detecting is not easy and new error may be introduced during debugging and correcting. Therefore, the fault detecting efficiency may influence the SRGM or cost of developing software. It is a very useful measure for the developing software. much helpful for the developer to evaluate the debugging efficiency, and, moreover, help to additional workloads necessary. Therefore. it is very important to evaluate the effect of imperfect dubugging in point of SRGM and cost. and may influence the optimal release time and operational budget. I extent and study the generally used reliability and cost models to the imperfect debugging range in this paper.

An improved method for detecting fault distance in overhead transmission lines is described in this paper. Based on single-ended measurement, propagation theory of traveling waves together with the wavelet transform technique is used. In estimating fault location, a simple, but fundamental method using the time difference between the two consecutive peaks of transient signals is considered; however, a new method to enhance measurement sensitivity and its accuracy is sought. The algorithm is developed based on the lattice diagram for traveling waves. Representing both the ground mode and alpha mode of traveling waves, in a lattice diagram, several relationships to enhance recognition rate or estimation accuracy for fault location can be found. For various cases with fault types, fault locations, and fault inception angles, fault resistances are examined using the proposed algorithm on a typical transmission line configuration. As a result, it is shown that the proposed system can be used effectively to detect fault distance.

This paper proposes a diagnosis to detecting poor contact fault and fault location. Electrical fire by poor contact fault of power cable occupied a large proportion in the total electrical installations. The proposed method has an object to prevent electrical fault in advance. But detecting poor contact fault is difficult to detect fault type and fault location by using conventional reflectometry due to faults generated intermittently and repeatedly on the time change. Therefore, in this paper poor contact fault and fault conditions were defined. System generating poor contact fault produced for the experimental setup. SSTDR and algorithm of reference signal elimination heighten performance detecting poor contact fault on live power cable. The diagnosis methods of signal process and analysis of reflected signal was proposed for detecting poor contact fault and fault location. The poor contact fault and location had been detected through proposed diagnosis methods. The fault location and error rate of detection were verified detecting accuracy by experiment results.

Although the distribution system has been structured as complicated as a mesh in the past, the connection points for each line are always kept open, so that it is operated as a radial distribution system (RDS). For RDS, the line utilization rate is determined according to the maximum load on the line, and the utilization rate is usually kept low. In addition, when a fault occurs in the RDS, a power outage of about 3 to 5 minutes occurs until the fault section is separated, and the healthy section is transferred to another line. To improve the disadvantages of the RDS, research on the construction of a networked distribution system (NDS) that linking multiple lines is in progress. Compared to the RDS, the NDS has advantages such as increased facility utilization, load leveling, self-healing, increased capacity connected to distributed generator, and resolution of terminal voltage drop. However, when a fault occurs in the network distribution system, fault current can flow in from all connected lines, and the direction of fault current varies depending on the fault point, so a high-precision fault current direction determination method and high-speed communication are required. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an accurate fault current direction determination method by comparing the peak value polarity of the fault current in the event of a fault, and a communication-based protection coordination method using this method.

Fault detection and diagnosis(FDD) system is beneficial in equipment management by providing the operator with tools which can help find out a failure of the system. An experimental study has been performed on fault detection and diagnosis method for a water chiller. Bayes classifier, which is one of classical pattern classifiers, is adopted in deciding whether fault occurred or not. Failure modes in this study include refrigerant leakage, decrease in mass flow rate of the chilled water and cooling water, and sensor error of the cooling water inlet temperature. It is possible to detect and diagnose faults in this study by adopting FDD algorithm using only four parameters(compressor outlet temperature, chilled water inlet temperature, cooling water outlet temperature and compressor power consumption). Refrigerant leakage failure is detected at 20% of refrigerant leakage. When mass flow rate of the chilled and cooling water decrease more than 8% or 12%, FDD algorithm can detect the faults. The deviation of temperature sensor over $0.6^{\circ}C$ can be detected as fault.

I compare my parameter estimation methodoloay with existing method, considering both of testing effort and fault detecting rate simultaneously in software reliability modeling. Generally speaking, fault detection/removal mechanism depends on how apply previous fault detection/removal and testing effort of S/W. The fault removal efficiency makes large influence to the reliability growth, testing and removal cost in developing stage S/W. This is very useful measure during all the developing stages and much helpful for the developer to estimate debugging efficiency, and furthermore, to anticipate additional working amount.

The objective of this study is to detect the multi-fault of HVAC system using a new pattern classification technique. To classify the effect of single-fault in determining the pattern, supply air temperature, OA-damper, supply fan, and air flowrate were chosen as experimental parameters. The combination of supply temperature, flow rate, supply fan and OA-damper were chosen as multi-fault conditions. Three kinds of patterns were introduced in the analysis of multi-fault problem. To solve multi-fault problem, the new pattern classification technique using residual ratio analysis was introduced to detect the multi-fault as well as single-fault. The residual ratio could diagnose single-fault or multi-fault into several patterns.

This paper presents a preventive maintenance model for determining the preventive replacement period of a system in which a failure rate is affected by the cumulative damage of fault and inspection. Especially, the failure rate function is considered to be a function of the cumulative damage of the fault and inspection time. Types of replacement considered are preventive replacement and failure replacement. Failure rate and expected cost function between replacement are derived. An optimal policy is obtained that minimizes the average cost per unit time for preventive replacement, failure replacement, inspection and repair.
