도시철도 차량 차륜재의 다축 피로강도 평가 (Evaluation of Multiaxial Fatigue Strength of a Urban Railway Wheel Steel)

  • Uniaxial and biaxial torsional fatigue tests were conducted on the samples extracted from urban railway wheel steel. Ultimate and yield strengths of the steel were 1027.7 MPa and 626 MPa, respectively. The uniaxial fatigue limit was 422.5 MPa, corresponding 67% of the ultimate tensile strength. The ratio of ${\tau}_e/{\sigma}_e$ was 0.63. Fatigue strength coefficient and exponent were 1319.5 MPa and 0.339, respectively. Maximum principal and equivalent strain were found to be adequate parameter to predict fatigue lifetime of the steel under multiaixal fatigue condition.

  • In this study, low fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal were investigated. Before welding, the cross section of butt joint was prepared only by fine shearing without milling process. Specimens were same sheet metal and welding condition that using automobile manufacturing company at present. Butt joint of cold rolled sheet metal was welded by $CO_2$ laser. It is used that welding condition such as laser welding speed was 5.5m/sec and laser output power was 5kW for 0.8mm and 1.2mm sheet metal. The laser weldments were machined same or different thickness and same or different material. In order to mechanical properties of around welding zone, hardness test was performed. Hardness of welding bead is about 2 times greater than base material. We performed the low cycle fatigue tests for obtaining fatigue properties about thickness and the weld line direction of specimen. The results of strain controlled low cycle fatigue test indicate that all specimens occur cyclic softening, as indicated by the decrease in stress to reach a prescribed strain.

A356 합금의 고주기 피로특성에 미치는 미소기공율의 영향 (Effect of Microporosity on High Cycle Fatigue Property of A356 Alloy)

  • The present study was aimed to investigate the dependence of fatigue property on microporosity variation of low-pressure die-cast (LPDC) A356 alloy. The fatigue property of A356 alloy was evaluated through high cycle fatigue test, and the microporosity-terms used were the fractographic porosity measured from SEM observation on fractured surface and the volumetric porosity obtained through the density measurement using Archimedes's principle. The number of cycles to failure of A356 alloys depends obviously upon the variation of fractographic porosity, and can describe in terms of the defect susceptibility which depends on the microporosity variation at a given value of stress amplitude. The modified Basquin's equation was suggested through the combination of microporosity variation and static maximum tensile stress to fatigue strength coefficient. Using modified Basquin's equation, it could suggest that the maximum values of fatigue strength coefficient and exponent achievable in defect-free condition of A356 alloy are 265 MPa, -0.07, respectively.

  • Monotonic torsional and pure torsional low cycle fatigue(LCF) test with artificial degradation were performed on duplex stainless steel(CF8M). CF8M is used in pipes and valves in nuclear reactor coolant system. It was aged at 430$^{\circ}C$ for 3600hrs. Through the monotonic and LCF test, it is found that mechanical properties(i.e., yield strength, strain hardening exponent, strength coefficient etc.) increase and fatigue life(N$\sub$f/) decreases with degradation of material. The relationship between shear strain amplitude(${\gamma}$$\sub$a/)and N$\sub$f/ was proposed.

  • This paper presents high cycle fatigue properties of an Al-3%Ti thin film, used in a RF (radio-frequency) MEMS switch for a mobile phone and also describes new test method for obtaining static and dynamic characteristics of thin film and reliability evaluation method on MEMS device with thin film developed by authors. Durability should be ensured for such devices under cycling load. Therefore, with the proposed specimen and test procedure, tensile and fatigue tests were performed to obtain mechanical and fatigue properties. The specimen was made with dimensions of $1000{\mu}m$ long, $1.0{\mu}m$ thickness, and 3 kinds of width, 50, 100 and $150{\mu}m$. High cycle fatigue tests for each width were also performed, from which the fatigue strength coefficient and the fatigue strength exponent were found to be 193MPa and .0.02319 for $50{\mu}m$, 181MPa and -0.02001 for $100{\mu}m$, and 164MPa and -0.01322 for $150{\mu}m$, respectively. We found that the narrower specimen is, the longer fatigue life of Al-3%Ti is and the wider specimen is, the more susceptible to stress level fatigue life of Al-3%Ti was.

  • 저주기 피로에 있어서 초기단계의 응력진폭 거동에 미치는 평균변형의 영향을 정량적으로 검토하였다. 그 결과 평균변형이 압축상태인 경우는 반복수의 증가에 따라 반복변형지수 n'와 반복변형계수 C'는 감소하였으며 평균변형이 0%와 인장상태인 경우는 그 반대였다. 또한 동적인 항복강도 $\delta_(yc)$는 평균변형이나 반복변형에 관계없이 일정하였다.
