Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 조직 변화에 따른 프레팅 피로거동 (The Fretting Fatigue Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy on Change of Microstructure)

  • The effect of microstructure on mechanical behavior for Ti-6Al-4V alloy was studied. Two different kinds of specimens are prepared using heat treatments (rolled plate, $1050^{\circ}C)$ in order to Produce different microstructures. Various kinds of mechanical tests such as hardness, tensile, fatigue and fretting fatigue tests are performed for evaluation of mechanical properties with the changes of microstructures. Through these tests, the following conclusions are observed: 1) Microstructures are observed as equiaxed and $widmanst{\ddot{a}}ten$ microstructures respectively. 2) Impact absorbed energy is superior for the equiaxed microstructure, and the hardness and tensile strength are superior for the $widmanst{\ddot{a}}ten$ microstructure. 3) The fatigue endurance of $widmanst{\ddot{a}}ten$ microstritcture shows higher value than that of the equiaxed microstructure. 4) The fatigue endurance in fretting condition was reduced about $50{\%}$ from that of the non-fretting condition.

Fe-Mn 제진 금속을 적용한 신축이음장치의 피로 내구성 평가 (Evaluation of Fatigue Endurance on Expansion Joint Manufactured Fe-Mn Damping Alloy)

  • 진동 소음을 저감시키는 Fe-Mn 제진 금속을 이용하여 제작된 핑거형 신축이음장치의 피로 내구성을 평가하고자 유한 요소해석과 수직하중 피로시험을 실시하였다. 피로실험은 Fe-Mn 제진금속을 이용한 신축이음장치와 유압가력기(25tonf)를 사용하여 진행되었으며, 그 결과에 따르면 핑거형 신축이음장치에 수직하중을 인가하였을 경우 핑거에서 측정된 최대 응력은 237.6MPa 이며, 이는 제진 금속의 항복강도인 420MPa의 56.6%이였다. 제진 금속을 이용한 신축이음의 피로시험은 도로교 설계기준에 따라 재하위치(KS F 4425)와 재하판($57.7cm{\times}23.1cm$)의 크기가 설정되었고, 그에 따른 200만회 수직하중 피로 시험에 있어서 파괴거동을 나타내지 않았으며 그 내구성과 안전성을 확인하였다.

Utilizing virtual vibration tests to optimize physical endurance tests

  • Physical tests are performed at various stages of the development cycle of a product, from prototype validation to product qualification. Although costly, there are growing demands for qualification tests like endurance vibration testing to be more representative of the real world. At the same time there are growing demands to assess the durability of these items based on FEA simulation. In this paper, we will explain how to set up a CAE-based test and how to correlate the results with some physical measurements. Specific assumptions will be explained and some advantages of using virtual tests will be highlighted such as the reduction of the number of prototypes needed, investigations on failures, evaluation of the level of reliability via sensitivity analysis, evaluation of the margins are at the end of a successful test. This presentation will therefore focus on explaining and showing how virtual tests can enrich the exploitation of physical tests.

  • The exhaust system of automobile is faced with random or spectrum types of fatigue loads during usage life and so needs to be closely estimated for quality and performance to have enough certainty on design endurance lift during preliminary design process. Structural operation conditions, operation load history, property of material and manufacturing process etc. should be considered by performing experiment approach. Using the software program for predicting fatigue life quickly and exactly in preliminary design stage saves plenty of time and cost generated by fatigue tests. In this paper, fatigue life prediction was performed on the basis of fatigue analysis using MSC/FATIGUE and load data from field test and the life of development items was estimated and compared through the results.

근전도를 이용한 Sorensen 검사시 성인남녀 등 근육의 근피로도 분석 (Spectral Electromyographic Fatigue Analysis of Back Muscles in Healthy Adult Men and Women During Sorensen Test)

  • Trunk holding test (Sorensen test) appear to have more value than strength test in prediction the occurrence of low back pain. Electromyographic activity of trunk extensor muscles during these test may provide clues to the etiology of neuromuscular-based low back pain. This study investigated the difference in back muscle endurance between healthy adult men and women using surface electromyographic (EMG) power spectral analysis. Thirty hea1thy subjects (15 men and 15 women) performed an unsupported trunk holding test for 60 seconds. Recording surface electrodes were placed over the erector spinae medially and laterally at vertebral levels of $L_1$ and $L_5$. Slope of total frequency was evaluated using the MP100WSW Fast Fourier Transform spectrum analysis program. The slopes of all indices of back muscle fatigue, except right $L_5$, were significantly steeper in men than in women (p<0.05). Our results indicated that the trunk holding test using EMG power spectral analysis of erector spinae muscles is useful for the evaluation of fatigue rate of these muscles. Our results also showed a higher muscle endurance in healthy adult women than in men.

냉간압연강 판재 기계적 접합부의 십자형 인장 하중하에서의 피로강도 (Fatigue Strength Evaluation of Mechanical Press Joints of Cold Rolled Steel Sheet under Cross-Tension Loading)

  • In this study, for the evaluation of the static and fatigue joining strength of the joint, the geometry of the cross-tension specimen was adopted. The specimens were produced with optimal joining force and fatigue life of the clinch joint specimens was evaluated. The material selected for use in this study was cold rolled mild steel (SPCC) with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The maximum tensile load was 708 N for the specimen with single point. The fatigue endurance limit (=42.6 N) per point approached to 6% of the maximum tensile strength at a load ratio of 0.1, suggesting that the joints are vulnerable to cross-tension loading during fatigue. Compared to equivalent stress and maximum principal stress, the SWT fatigue parameter and equivalent strain can properly predict the current experimental fatigue life. The SWT parameter can be expressed as $SWT=2497.5N^{-0.552)_f$.

표면경화재의 피로한도 예측에 대한 연구 (A Study for the Prediction Fatigue Limit in a Case Hardening Material)

  • The standard of the allowed stress in designing components such as shafts used in machinery and aircraft should be determined. It is very important to estimate fatigue strength of a component analytically, because service stress of the components is usually under the level of its fatigue limit. Improving the fatigue strength of each component in machinery is essential for high performance, lightness, and endurance. Surface treatment of components is widely used for these purpose. In this research, the fatigue behaviors of SCM415 steel and carbonitried SCM415 steel are examined. In the analysis of the fatigue behaviors of the carbonitrided SCM 415 steel, we propose a modified fatigue strength evaluation model and modified formulae.

  • The lightness of components required on marine and shipbuilding industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular, fatigue failure phenomena, which happen in metal, bring on danger in human life and property. Therefore, antifatigue failure technology takes an important part of current industries. In this study, it was investigated about endurance and fatigue crack propagation rate of according to stress ratio of SMAW commonly using for welding structures in present. Fatigue crack propagation rate(da/dN) of low load(R=0.1) was lower than of high load(R=0.6) for piping weld. And in stage I, ${\Delta}$Kth, the threshold stress intensity factor of the weld under heavy load is higher than under small load. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the weld of stress ratio R=0.l than in the weld of stress ratio R=0.6.

재생디젤기관차의 안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety Evaluation of Rebuiled Diesel-Electric Locomotive)

  • The main objective of the study is to provide the criteria for determining the proper life cycle of rebuiled diesel-electric locomotive currently being operated in KNR. We predicted the most critical sections of the underframes and tested the diesel-electric locomotive vehicle to measure dynamic stresses applied to the underframes. The fileld test of the diesel-electric locomotive estimated 17.08years based on the fatigue-life estimation when they are continuously used in the present operation condition.

레일형 교량신축이음장치 용접부의 피로강도 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fatigue Strength Evaluation in Rail-type Expansion Joint Weldment of Bridge)

  • This paper is especially concerned with the weldment between support beam and square bar that plays important roles in control box of Expansion Joint as a bridge structure. Fatigue strength of the weldment is dependent on notch radius from welding defects and material properties. From which, tensile strength($\sigma$ult) and fatigue notch factor(Kf) become important factors to predict fatigue life. The fatigue notch sensitivity(η) for metals can be divided into two types : high and low notch sensitivity. In this work, the Expansion Joint weldment was found to have low notch sensitivity. Fatigue test of real structure was performed up to 106cycles to be compared with predicted endurance limit.
