  • Children team about their roles through literature, receive the information about the roles of family members and come to accept them. Especially, father's roles in biographies are so diverse, not consistent, compared to mother's roles, that it world be judged to be difficult for the children who had read to form the concept of the father's roles. As the father's roles in the fairy tales have important effect upon the formation of the children's role concept toward their fathers, the purpose of this study is to investigate the father' role appeared in Korean biographies. The method used for this study is the content analysis of the context related with fathering in Korean biographies. It is found that the most frequent father' role appeared in Korean biographies was a friend and companion such as to talk with child about the child's future. And the second frequent father's role in Korean biographies was a family ancestor, such as, to pray for a son's birth, to name the child, to arrange the child's marriage. The third role was that of a loaming helper. These results have been discussed in the light of former studies, and the limits of study method also have been discussed.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the inheritance in craniofacial complex among Korean familial members. The subjects were 160 lateral cephalometric radiographs from 45 families. Standard product-moment correlation coefficients(r) were calculated for the measurements between the familial pairings. Further, coefficients of $determination(r^2)$ were calculated and multiple regression analyses were performed to assess the use of parents' record for predicting an offspring's craniofacial features. The following results were obtained. 1. First-degree relatives had a high level of significant correlations which were compatible with a polygenic theory of inheritance than those of non-relatives. 2. Mother-daughter pair had the highest significant correlations, then mother-son and father-son pairs, and, finally, father-daughter pair had the lowest significant correlations. 3. The genetic influence was higher in anterior cranial base length and genial angle. In contrast, the environmental influence was higher in posterior border of ramus, maxillary ant. teeth, maxillary & mandibular apical bases and Gla-P. occ. 4. The predictability of offspring's cranio-facial growth could be improved by using multiple measurements from both parents than those from father or mother only.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate educational and occupational value orientations and transmissions between parents and college-aged children. The specific objectives are as follows; 1. To investigate parents and children's value orientations. 2. To estimate value congruence and transmissions between parents and children. 3. To find out the effects of three kinds of variables (demographic, family life, and expectation) on children's value orientations. To study the generational congruences and transmissions, four kinds of questionnarie and matched samples of mother-daughter and father-son were used. The data were obtained through 110 pairs and analyzed by t-test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. The resluts are summerized as follows; 1. Significant value differences are found between parents group and children group. 2. Mother-daughter congruences are more than father-son congruences, but the correlation coefficients are low. 3. The variables selectively influence on children's value orientations.

  • 1. Partly because of Freud's greatemphaiss on the important of the child's successful weathering of the oedipal crisis and on the need to home both parents present if that period is to be successfully resolved, there has been a good deal of research on the effects of the absent father on the child's development. 2. Compared with boys whose fathers remained at home, boys were more immature and less secure in identification with their fathers. Some evidence suggests that father-absent children, particullarly boys suffer unusual difficulties in social relations wit their peers. 3. Emphasis on family quality , harmony, or climate as more important than father's absence, person is another recurrent finding among studies that attempt to analzed family factors in relation to juvenile deliquency. 4. The fatherless boys were more often judged to be anxious about sex and to be more effminated. 5. The sex-role problems of the boy without a father probably refect a number of factors, obviously they relate in part to the simple fact that he has not had a man around to provide a model of maliness. 6. Father is important to a girl's sex-role development not only because he is particularly interested in sex typing but also because he provides her with an opportunity to relate intimately to a man and to learn what it is like to invest emotionally in a male. 7. It is conceivable that children of broken marriages are more sensitive to martial problems and more ready than others to end an unhealthy relationship ; it is also conceivable that they are less likely to enter into a healthy one. 8. In some cultures it simply reflects the extreme amount of intimacy mother has with her son as compared with the amount of time compared with the amount of time father has available to spend with him.

  • This study investigated the impact of solution-focused thinking on marital satisfaction via mediating roles of father involvement in childcare and marital conflict. A questionnaire survey was conducted among mothers with infants, living in Busan, Daegu and Yangsan, South Korea. Data from 264 mothers were analyzed using several multiple regression analyses and bootstrapping method with SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS macro (model 6) to test the serial double mediation model. The results of this study are as follows. First, mothers' solution-focused thinking had a significant direct and indirect positive influence on marital satisfaction through both father involvement in childcare and marital conflict. Second, the sequential mediating effects of father involvement in childcare and marital conflict were statistically significant in the relationship between solution-focused thinking and marital satisfaction. The model accounted for 60% of the variance in mothers' marital satisfaction. The results highlight the importance of solution-focused thinking that can enhance the marital satisfaction of mothers with infants and act as a resource for increasing father involvement in childcare and decreasing marital conflict. Based on the results, it is necessary to include solution-focused thinking, father involvement in childcare, and marital conflict as key elements in the intervention to improve marital satisfaction of mothers with infants.

  • The major purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of intergenerational transmission of self-differentiation on psychological adjustment of college students. Specifically, the present study endeavored to test the causal model focusing on the effect of the father's and the mother's self-differentiation on college student's psychological adjustment through the student's self-differentiation. The data were collected from 254 male and 293 female college students and their parents by using self-administered questionnaire method. The casual model was tested through structural equation model by using AMOS 7.0 program. The results showed that mother's and father's self-differentiation had direct and indirect effect on student's psychological adjustment. The results showed that both mother's and father's self-differentiation had direct effect on son's self-differentiation level, which directly influenced his psychological adjustment. The test of structural equation model also revealed that daughter's self-differentiation level was positively influenced only by mother's self-differentiation, while father's self-differentiation did not influenced female student's self-differentiation. Both male and female student's psychological adjustment was directly influenced by his or her self-differentiation level.

  • This article pays attention to the gender representation of an abominable male abject that reveal class polarization in the movie Parasite. I seeks to read a new aspect of emotional politics in which a precariat man becomes a male patriarch while representing himself with an abhorrent position. Parasite shows a reversal of daughter and son responsible for parents, contrary to the existing family narrative. They teaches the parents' generation how to survive neoliberal that their place is created only when they take away others' place. However, after losing this prospect, Ki-woo confesses to his father that he is sorry first. Ki-taek also attempted to identify Dong-ik with the patriarch, but this male solidarity collapsed by class and committed murder in sudden anger. As a result, Gi-taek goes down to the hateful status of a stinking underground life, and Ki-woo receives a message of ethical reflection from his isolated father. The film gives the father and son the noble status of ethical fighter who fought against the structure of class polarization, especially the ending epilogue and narration emphasizing the ethical responsibility and mutual solidarity between father and son. In this process, the voices of female characters are gradually omitted, blurring gender screening for male characters. Parasite reveals the political reenactment strategy of precariat men in the age of neoliberalism, which is ethical subject by claiming to be a class abject himself. And representing the hate with gender-selecting, it is beautifying the responsible ethics of the patriarch.

  • The purpose of this study is to interpret a house as material into culture. Main method is an ethnographic interview with dwellers as a part of a participant observation, a kind qualitative study. Significantly two different types of folk housing are discovered in East and West areas of the Cheju Island. In the East, kitchen itself forms a separated building, Jeongji-gori, whereas in the West, kitchen is within a main building, An-gori. Different type of kitchen is formed by the different family system. While independent family system of son and father selects a separate kitchen building as a general rule of Cheju Island, an extended family system between father and son selects same kitchen, Jeongji-gori, in the east area. Natural environment of infertile soil of east area makes family work together and eat together. Inner space of the kitchen building is utilized not only in cooking but also in eating, working, and sleeping. In order to explain folk house type, a 'culture area' concept is suggested. The interrelated 'cultural type' of architecture behind a physical surface 'type' is suggested as a new typology.
