The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of parenting behavior and parent-child communication on elementary school children's multiple intelligence. 321 children selected from two elementary schools and their mothers participated in the study. Data were collected using the multiple intelligence index, parenting behavior inventory and parent-child communication index. The data were statistically analyzed using the t-test, one-way ANOVA(Duncan test), and multiple regression analysis. The study showed that there were some significant differences in children's multiple intelligence according to the children's gender, income, mother and father's educational background. There were some significant differences in children's multiple intelligence according to the parenting behavior, warmth acceptance and permissiveness nonintervention behaviors, and to the parent-child open communication and problematic communication. It was also found that children's gender, family income, warmth acceptance behavior, permissiveness nonintervention behavior, open communication and problematic communication were all significant predictors of the children's multiple intelligence. Implications based on this study are as follows; in order to increase the children' multiple intelligence, parents should be warmer and more accepting and have open communication with their children.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the relationships among parent-child communication, self-esteem and sexual assertiveness for male and female university students. Thus, the nursing intervention based on the influencing factors is needed in order for male and female students to express sexual assertiveness.
In this study, we examine the marital factors which relate to the child abuse. We mainly analyze the influence of the satisfaction of couple life, communication on battering child, and we also test mediating effect of the level of parents' stress. The major outcomes of the study are following. In case of father, the satisfaction of couple life, communication don't have a significant influence on battering child. And they have a significant influence on the level of fathers' stress. But the level of fathers' stress does not influence on battering child. In case of mother, the satisfaction of couple life and communication don't explain the child abuse. But they have a significant influence on level of mothers' stress, and it also have a significant influence on battering child. These findings show that family therapy or marital therapy which focuses on enhancing the satisfaction of couple life and improving the way of communication between husband and wife is needed to reduce the child abuse. To the mothers, a stress management program can also be effective.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of personal psychological variables(cognitive flexibility, emotion dysregulation, subjective health condition), family variables(marital satisfaction, father-adolescent communication) and job satisfaction on the psychological well-being of middle-aged men. For this research, questionnaires were administered to 550 middle-aged men residing in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon. Among 352 questionnaires collected, 327 were selected and statistically analyzed by average, standard deviation, frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS Win 21.0. The main results of the study are as follows: First, according to middle-aged men's social-demographic variables, the level of their psychological well-being differed significantly. Second, cognitive flexibility was the most significant predictor of their psychological well-being. In addition, emotion dysregulation, job satisfaction, father-adolescent communication, and subjective health condition were significant predictors. These results suggest that cognitive reconstruction training or problem-solving intervention could be useful for the psychological well-being of middle-aged men.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the sexual maturation, parenting attitude, maturity fear and emotional and behavioral problems of girls in elementary school, and to examine the relation between these variables and factors that influence emotional and behavioral problems. Methods: Participants were 128 second, third and fourth year students from 3 elementary schools. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: Emotional and behavioral problems were related to eating rate, eating breakfast, frequency of late-night snacks and main communicator on pubertal development. Emotional and behavioral problems showed a positive correlation with maturity fear and father's parenting attitude (strictness) and a negative correlation with parenting attitude and father's parenting attitude (intimacy). Maturity fear, father's parenting attitude, eating breakfast, and main communicator on pubertal development had significant influence on emotional and behavioral problems of girls in elementary school. Conclusion: Findings show that for effective management of emotional and behavioral problems in elementary school girls, programs including coping with maturity fear, supportive parenting of father, diet education, and functional communication with mother on pubertal development should be developed.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parental forgiveness and parent-child communication on school-age children's forgiveness in late childhood. Methods: A total of 231 fifth and sixth graders (122 boys and 109 girls) living in Daegu participated in the study. They responded to questionnaires regarding parental forgiveness, parent-child communication and children's forgiveness. The data were analyzed by t-tests, Pearson's correlations, and SEM using SPSS 18.0 and LISREL 9.1. Results: First, paternal forgiveness had a direct effect on children's forgiveness. Second, parental forgiveness had an indirect effect on children's forgiveness through parent-child communication. Finally, multigroup analyses revealed that paternal forgiveness had a direct effect and an indirect effect through father-child communication on boys' forgiveness, whereas maternal forgiveness had an indirect effect on girls' forgiveness through mother-child communication. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the gender of parents and children needs to be considered to explain school-age children's forgiveness. In addition, these findings have implications for future research and practice by highlighting the importance of parental forgiveness and parent-child communication in forgiveness education programs for children and parent education programs.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the influential factors of family function, parent-child communication, and family satisfaction on Korean adolescents game use. Methods: The participants were 940 adolescents in Seoul. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The study variables were family function, parent-child communication, family satisfaction, and game use. Results: Game use was different by gender, age, time to spend in game during weekdays and weekend. Game use had significant negative correlations with family cohesion, family adaptability, communication with father, communication with mother, and family satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis showed that 20.3% of the game use was explained by gender, communication with mother, hours of playing games during weekdays, family adaptability, and hours of playing games during weekend. This study was conducted to measure the degree of Korean Gender Egalitarianism among the students from six different high schools(132 girls, 127 boys) in Sunchon si, Chunnam province from Dec. 7th to Dec. 15th in 1999. The survey on gender egalitarianism was done in relation to the public understanding of the subject matter, parents' hug times, and parent's communication skills. Korean gender egalitari- anism scale was standardized by Korea Woman Developmental Institutes in 1999. The data was analyzed by SAS program. Results were as follows: 1) Generally, girls are more conscious of gender egalitariannism than boys(t=-13.79, p<.001). Above all, the younger the students are, the more they feel equal(F=8.01, p<.01). In sibling cases, two sisters have the highest level of gender egalitarianism while two brothers have the lowest level of gender egalitarianism(F=9.20, p<.001). Students who come from religious families are more inclined to demonstrate gender equality(t= 2.42, p<.05). However, there is no difference in relation to the parents' ages or academic background or harmony within the family. 2) There is no difference that girls and boys generally communicate with their parents. In ages, 17 years old students communicate more than 18, 19 with parents(father F=3.97 p<.05ㆍmother F=5.31, p<.01). That is, the younger students can communicate with their mothers more often than the older ones. In sibling cases, two sisters have more openly communication to parents while two brothers have(F=2.84, p<.05). Students communicate with their parents regardless of parents' academic background. But those from the family in harmony have more open chance to communicate than those who are not in hamony(father F=21.66, p<.001ㆍmother F=13.37, p<.001). They can comm -unicate with their parents better when their fathers hug them than when they didn't get hugs(father t=-4.76, p<.001ㆍ mother t= -2.34, p<.05). They can also communicate with their patents better when their mothers hug them once or more than when they didn't get hugs(father t=-3.78, p<.001ㆍmother t=-5.64, p<.001). 3) There is no difference whether the father hugs or not, but the mother's hug is very important because students whose mothers hug them once or more have significantly more gender egalitarianism than those students whose mothers didn't do(t=-3.98, p<.001). Based upon these results, it is recommended that we reconsider the role of gender in the socialization of high school students and also include gender egalitarianism in sex education. In this context, further study should be done for the improvement of students' communication within the framework of egalitarianism based upon parents' hugs(semi-language). Continued study is especially important in regards to the mother's hug and its enhancement of the students' gender egalitarianism.
