In surveillance, monitoring, and target tracking operations, high-resolution images should be obtained even if the target is in a far distance. Frequent movements of vehicles such as boats degrade the image quality of onboard camera systems. Therefore, stabilizer mechanisms are required to stabilize the line of sight of boatboard camera systems against boat movements. This paper addresses design and implementation of a strapdown boatboard camera stabilizer. A two degree of freedom(DOF)(pan/tilt) robot performs the stabilization task. The main problem is divided into two subproblems dealing with attitude estimation and attitude control. It is assumed that exact estimate of the boat movement is available from an attitude estimation system. Estimates obtained in this way are carefully transformed to robot coordinate frame to provide desired trajectories, which should be tracked by the robot to compensate for the boat movements. Such a practical robotic system includes actuators with fast dynamics(electrical dynamics) and has more degrees of freedom than control inputs. Backstepping method is employed to deal with this problem by extending the control effectiveness.
A Prototype Gen-IV Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor which is one of the $4^{th}$ generation nuclear reactors is in development by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. The reactor is composed of four main fluid systems which are categorized by its functions, i.e., Primary Heat Transport System, Intermediate Heat Transport System, Decay Heat Removal System and Sodium-Water Reaction Pressure Relief System. The coolant of the reactor is liquid sodium and sodium-to-sodium heat exchangers are installed at the interfaces between two fluid systems, Intermediate Heat Exchangers between the Primary Heat Transport System and the Intermediate Heat Transport System and Decay Heat Exchangers between the Primary Heat Transport System and the Decay Heat Removal System. For the design and performance analysis of the Intermediate Heat Exchanger and the Decay Heat Exchanger, a computer code was written during previous step of research. In this work, the computer code named "SHXSA" has been validated preliminarily by computational fluid dynamics simulations.

This paper presents an adaptive active tracking system with sector based scanning for a single PTZ camera. Dividing sectors on an image reduces the search space to shorten selection time so that the system can cover many targets. Upon the selection of a target, the system estimates the target trajectory to predict the zooming location with a finite amount of time for camera movement. Advanced estimation techniques using probabilistic reason suffer from the unknown object dynamics and the inaccurate estimation compromises the zooming level to prevent tracking failure. The proposed system uses the simple piecewise estimation with a few frames to cope with fast moving objects and/or slow camera movements. The target is tracked in multiple steps and the zooming time for each step is determined by maximizing the zooming level within the expected variation of object velocity and detection. The number of zooming steps is adaptively determined according to target speed. In addition, the iterative estimation of a zooming location with camera movement time compensates for the target prediction error due to the difference between speeds of a target and a camera. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulations and real time experiments.
Roll to Roll (R2R) is one of the most promising production technologies in the printed electronics such as OLEDs, e-paper, backplanes, RFID because this technology can save production cost and increase production speed. Printed electronics includes various processes such as printing, drying, winding, unwinding, and so on. In printed electronics R2R system, air-flotation oven is employed for drying process. Therefore, it is essential to introduce efficient and fast drying process when printing is finished. This paper considers the analysis of drying process in R2R that involves hot air flow. Air-flotation oven consists of non-contact supports and drying of coated web materials such as plastic films and paper. In this paper, experimental results and numerical analysis of pressure-pad air bar are investigated. The aerodynamic characteristics of pressure-pad air bar are numerically calculated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach. Then the measured values of the aerodynamic forces for air bars are compared with those of CFD analysis.
It is main objective of this approach to present a method to analyse stochastic design sensitivity for problems of structural dynamics with randomness in design parameters. A combination of the adjoint variable approach and the second oder perturbation method is used in the finite element approach. An alternative form of the constant functional that holds for all times is introduced to consider the time response of dynamic sensitivity. The terminal problem of the adjoint system is solved using equivalent homogeneous equations excited by initial velocities. The numerical procedures are shown to be much more efficient when based on the fold superposition method : the generalized co-ordinates are normalized and the correlated random variables are transformed to uncorrelated variables, where as the secularities are eliminated by the fast Fourier transform of complex valued sequences. Numerical algorithms have been worked out and proved to be accurate and efficient : they codes whose element derivative matrices can be explicitly generated. The numerical results of two cases - 2-dimensional portal frame and 3/4-cylindrical shell structure - for the deterministic and stochastic sensitivity analysis illustrates in this paper.
Vacancy defects in graphene can be created by electron or ion irradiation and those induce ripples which can change the electronic properties of graphene. Recently, the formation of defect structures such as vacancy defects and non-hexagonal rings has been reported in the high resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) of reduced graphene oxide [1]. In those HR-TEM images, it is noticed that the dislocations with pentagon-heptagon (5-7) pairs are formed and diffuses. Interestingly, it is also observed that two 5-7 pairs are separated and diffuse far away from each other. The separation of 5-7 pairs has been known to be due to their self-diffusion. However, from our tight-binding molecular dynamics simulation, it is found that the separation of 5-7 pairs is due to the diffusion of single vacancy defects and coalescence with 5-7 pairs. The diffusion and coalescence of single vacancy defects is too fast to be observed even in HR-TEM. We also implemented Van der Waals interaction in our tight-binding carbon model to describe correctly bi-layer and multi-layer graphene. The compressibility of graphite along c-axis in our tight-binding calculation is found to be in excellent agreement with experiment. We also discuss the difference between single layer and bi-layer graphene about vacancy diffusion and reconstruction.
This paper considers the concept of analog computing based on a cellular neural network (CNN) paradigm to simulate nuclear reactor dynamics using a time-dependent second order form of the neutron transport equation. Instead of solving nuclear reactor dynamic equations numerically, which is time-consuming and suffers from such weaknesses as vulnerability to transient phenomena, accumulation of round-off errors and floating-point overflows, use is made of a new method based on a cellular neural network. The state-of-the-art shows the CNN as being an alternative solution to the conventional numerical computation method. Indeed CNN is an analog computing paradigm that performs ultra-fast calculations and provides accurate results. In this study use is made of the CNN model to simulate the space-time response of scalar flux distribution in steady state and transient conditions. The CNN model also is used to simulate step perturbation in the core. The accuracy and capability of the CNN model are examined in 2D Cartesian geometry for two fixed source problems, a mini-BWR assembly, and a TWIGL Seed/Blanket problem. We also use the CNN model concurrently for a typical small PWR assembly to simulate the effect of temperature feedback, poisons, and control rods on the scalar flux distribution.

To simulate solid dynamics,a we must com-pute the mass, the center of mass, and the products of inertia about the axes of the body of interest. These mass property computations must be continuously re-peated for certain simulations with rigid bodies or as the shape of the body changes. We introduce a GPU-friendly algorithm to approximate the mass properties for an arbitrarily shaped body. Our algorithm converts the necessary volume integrals into surface integrals on a projected plane. It then maps the plane into a frame-buffer in order to perform the surface integrals rapidly on the GPU. To deal with non-convex shapes, we use a depth-peeling algorithm. Our approach is image-based; hence, it is not restricted by the mathematical or geometric representation of the body, which means that it can efficiently compute the mass properties of any object that can be rendered on the graphics hardware. We compare the speed and accuracy of our algorithm with an analytic algorithm, and demonstrate it in a hydrostatic buoyancy simulation for real-time applications, such as interactive games.
In this study, the ejector design was modeled using Fluent 6.3 of FVM(Finite Volume Method) CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) techniques to resolve the flow dynamics in the ejector. A vacuum system with the ejector has been widely used because of its simple construction and easy maintenance. Ejector is the main part of the desalination system, of which designs determine the efficiency of system. The effects of the ejector was investigated geometry and the operating conditions in the hydraulic characteristics. The ejector consists mainly of a nozzle, suction chamber, mixing tube(throat), diffuser and draft tube. Liquid is supplied to the ejector nozzle, the fast liquid jet produced by the nozzle entrains and the non condensable gas was sucked into the mixing tube. In the present study, the multiphase CFD modeling was carried out to determine the hydrodynamic characteristics of seawater-air ejector. Two-dimensional geometry was considered with the quadrilateral-mashing scheme. The gas suction rate increases with increasing Motive flow circulating rate.
More than 24.43 million people received a special pardon to mark the anniversary of Liberation Day on Aug. 15 and to commemorate other national event, during 15years(1995-2009), in this period six times of presidential pardon was implemented. The special pardon allows traffic law violator to drive again with their violation records wiped clean. But traffic records show that traffic accidents used to increase very fast in a short period by up to 3-15 percent after implementing the every massive pardons. This study explores the causal feedback relationship between presidential special pardon for traffic law violators and the occurrence of an traffic accidents using a system thinking approach and simulation modelling. Particularly, this study focused on the analysing significant negative impact of the traffic pardon on the occurrence of worrisome traffic accidents. The results of this study show that presidential special pardon have had impact on the traffic accidents as a increasing leverage of positive feedback loop and the obedience of traffic law as a decreasing leverage of negative feedback loop. Finally, this study conclude that the cyclical increasing pattern of traffic accident is resulting from the periodically conducted presidential pardons with political aims.
