The first generation of the business that had been founded in 1960~1970s faces the situation to consider the succession of the family business developed by devotion of their whole lives in the critical timing to the next generation. In the process of selecting the party of family business succession, it is required to consider a variety of succession types including smooth transfer to the other family member or the employee of the company, selling the company, or hiring external specialist. Foreign countries acknowledge the importance of the succession in the family owned company to perform multiple studies on the influential factors to the succession, distinction, and types of family business succession; and they utilize the results for the related policy development and the support of family owned business succession. However, few studies have been conducted on the succession of the domestic family owned business and majority of them are related to the types of succession. Considering its share and influential power in the domestic economy, it is necessary to develop the guideline and the policies to solve many issues on the succession of the family owned business by systemic studies. Hence, the impact of the main characteristics in the family owned business on the types of its succession was analyzed in this study focusing on five domains of Socioemtional Wealth (SEW) in view of Behavioral Agency Theory by Gomez-Mejia et al. (2007) using the data from 540 family owned small-to-medium sized businesses so as to analyze the issues on their business succession. Upon the empirical analysis results, it was confirmed that they were influenced to the selection of succession type by family succession > internal employee succession > external succession, for the variables of social contribution which were non-financial characteristics, internal employee succession > family succession > external succession for the intellectual properties, and family succession > external succession for the management participation of the family. The distinction of social contribution were influenced the most to the selection of the succession types. Financial factors, business performance, and R&D investment variables were not significantly influenced to their selection of the succession types. In case of simultaneous management, the family succession rate was high and it showed the control effect to strengthen selecting family owned business with R&D investment, social contribution, and company history variables. The behavioral agency theory used in this study was confirmed with high explanation power on the family owned business succession. The family owned business showed the tendency to maintain SEW, and non-financial factors such as accumulated know-how and social contribution based on the long term history were significantly affected to the succession in the small-to-medium sized family owned businesses, unlike general large sized listed companies. The results of this study are expected to be helpful practically for the succession of the family owned business and to suggest the guideline for the development of governmental policy.
Although the term 'family business' is relatively new, this style of business is universal. An Unusual feature that must be noted, is that even though it is a common style of business is not clearly defined. The purpose of this study is to identify the different family participation patterns, and the variables that effect different types of participation. '1997 Daewoo Panel Data' was used. Some descriptive statistics and a multinomial logit model were employed for the analysis. The standard type of business focused on in this study was a family owned and operated 'ma and pa' typed business and the sample was limited to households where one or both of the partners involved in a family owned and operated business. The main resets obtained from this sample were as follows: 1. Personal characteristics such as respondents' gender, age and educational level were important variables that effected the participation of family members in the business. As can be seen in the gender analysis, family businesses owned by men showed all available patterns of family operated businesses in relatively high numbers. A large percentage of businesses owned women were of self-employed pattern. According to the analysis by age and educational level, young people with a high level of education tend to managed their small businesses by employing others rather than utilising the self-employed or family operated pattern. 2. While big families showed a high percentage of a combination pattern of a family-run, and ordinary employer/employee company, relatively small families usually opted for purely family-run businesses. Whether the family have children under 6 or not, and the number of children under 6 did net significantly effect to the patterns of the family system of small family businesses. 3. The size, location and kind of family business also effected participation patterns of the family members significantly. These results suggest that further study will be required to gain more exact and meaningful information to help Korean family businesses.

The purpose of this study is to test both the alignment theory and entertainment theory on family firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. To achieve these goals, we collected secondary data from 164 non-financial family firms in various sectors during 2014-18. These family firms are classified into two categories: family control firms and family owned firms. We take the audit fee and the audit quality as dependent variables while family control firms, family-owned firms, and family CEOs as independent variables. In addition, the study uses leverage, profit and export as control variables. To test the effect of the explanatory variables on the output variables, we use two econometric models, Ordinary Least Square and the Probit regression model. In addition, Huber Sandwich test is used to check the non-normality and heteroscedasticity of panel data. Contrary to the alignment effect, the study supports the entrenchment effect and advocates that family-controlled firms as well as family-owned firms are not conscientious regarding the selection of external auditors during their contracts with audit firms. They are less likely to pay high audit fees for good quality audit in Pakistan. Furthermore, the study shows a statistically significant and positive relationship between audit quality and audit fees.

It is said that there exist trouble factors of female-owned businesses and they disturb the growth of female-owned businesses. This paper, focusing on the balancing of work and family roles and discontinuance of career, examines whether trouble factors of female-owned businesses can explain the characteristics of female-owned businesses in Kwangju-Cheonnam region. The results show that these disturbing factors effect the accumulation of capitals for start-ups of femaleowned businesses and careers of female business owners, so that female-owned businesses enter disproportionately on service industry and their sizes are small. These support existing study results.
According to recent statistics, the number of family-owned small business have increased. And these growing numbers have created an urgent need for researchers and government to analyse and plan for this population. The purposes of this study were to identify the determining factors of the location of family owned small business and to analyze the factors related to their job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. The data used for this study, were 713 self-employed men and women which were elected from the panel data of 1998 MIPS of Daewoo Economic Research Institute. Statistics performed for the analysis were frequencies, percentiles, t-test, $\varkappa$$^2$, OLS and Logistic analysis. It was found that the person who work at home-base small office were the residents of smaller city, and are older than the office-going attendants. The variable which effects the job satisfaction of the home-based workers was the educational background. And sex was the only factor which affects the job satisfaction of the office-going attendants. It was also found that job satisfaction affects the life satisfaction significantly in both group.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the future studies on the succession of family business by investing its current condition and related variables in which it is sustained through the transfer of thier ownership and management right. The findings showed that job satisfaction is supposed to depend on the ownership of business-place and number of employees. That is, respondents who have the ownership of the business-place and employ more workers were more satisfied with their jobs than those who rented the work-place and have fewer employees. Variables affecting the whether or not the family business will be inherited are composed of who owned the business-place, how many workers are employed and how satisfied the workers are with their jobs.

A family business is a company where most of its capital and the management position is owned by family members (clan). The leader plays an important role in defining an organization, thus influencing the organization's success. This research aims to find the impact of the democratic leadership model on a family business that adopts the clan cultural organization. The independent variable of this research is the democratic leadership model. Meanwhile, the dependent variable is the clan culture within the organization. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive and causality type of research. This research population is PT Global Avionika Indonesia staff, where the data was acquired by distributing questionnaires using a saturated sampling technique. The finding in this research shows a positive and significant impact of the democratic leadership model on the clan culture within the organization PT Global Avionika. The determination test also points out that democratic leadership models affect 19.8 percent of the clan culture within the organization, and the rest of 80.2 percent were affected by other factors that were not covered in this research.
