The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of family function and to determine factors influencing family function. The subjects for this study were 451 adults and high school students among the general population from J city. Data were collected by questionnaire from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 1989. The measurement tool was the Family Function Questionnaire(APGAR) developed by Smilkstein. Data were analysed by statistical methods including Mean, S.D. t-test and ANOVA. The following results were obtained : 1. The mean Family APGAR score was 5.70$\pm$0.11, in a range from 0-10. 2. Scores from 0 to 6, which fall into the dysfunctional family range, were recorded for 266 families(59.6%) 3. Significant variables among general characterisics influencing family function were age, sex, marital status, educational levels. monthly income and occupation(p<.001). 4. Significant variables among family characteristics influencing family function were family life cycle (p<.01), utilization of family resources(p<.01) and family atmosphere( p<.001).
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of wives' demographic variables, the family cohesion and adaptability perceived by dual-career wives on household task performance. The subject of this study were 391 employed professional wives working in seoul. Using the questionnary, the data was obtained and the data was analysed by percentile, frequency, ANOVA, multiple regression. The results were as follows. 1) the family cohesion and adaptability scores showed a little higher than those of previous research. Number of children, age of the youngest child and family pattern were statistically significant in the family cohesion, number of children and family pattern were statistically significantly in the family adaptability. 2) The division of housework by family members was influenced by the family adaptability and family pattern. The family cohesion was a significant determinant of the division of housework by husband. The standard of housework was influenced by wives' age, the family cohesion and a housework time.
The study is focused on the perception of husbands and wives family financial security and satisfaction with quality of family life. Data was collected from the husbands and wives in Seoul. Eligibility was limited to family units with husband, wife, and at least one child. 852(Husbands:432, Wives: 420) out of 1200 respondents were finally selected as datum sources. The data was analyzed by Frequency, OneWay-ANOVA, t-test, Pearson' correlation and regression analysis. The major findings are the following: 1) In regard to the perception of family income adequacy, wives' perception was higher than husbands'. On the family financial problem, husbands had more experienced the financial problem than wives. 2) Marriage education, family income, husbands and wives education , and savings effected satisfaction with quality of family life. and husbands are more satisfaction with quality of family life than wives. 3) Determined the impact of the perception of family financial security on the satisfaction with quality of family life was 41% for wives and 33% for husbands, respectively.
The main objectives of this study were to investigate the concept of family function from the perspective of the contemporary Korean family, and to construct model of change of family function with chronic illness. The hybrid model approach was applied in which three phases(theoretical phase, empirical phase, and analytic phase) of concept development were explored for family functioning. The study was conducted from 1997 to 1998. In empirical phase, two groups of purposive samples were drawn : normal family group composed of six families without ill family member, and ill family group composed of seven families of which wives have rheumatoid arthritis. Only families with child(or children) in primary or secondary schools were included in the study. The results were as follows : In theoretical phase, six dimensions of family concept were emerged : affective, structural, control, cognitive, financial, and reproductive dimension. In order to analyse the Korean normal family function in middle class with middle-aged women, financial and reproductive dimension were not included. In empirical phase, five dimensions(affective, structural, control, cognitive, and external relationship) were found from the normal family data. External relationship dimension is very important factor as a resource of the support, especially when their parents or siblings had no help or support to them. In the affective dimension, Korean family emphasized harmony and balance rather than affective expression between couples and between parents and children. They also showed common goals of the families to solve their problems to control the family members. The priority of the goals was getting into the higher education of their children or helping their unhealthy parents or family members. Six dimensions (affective, structural, control, cognitive, external relationship, and financial) of family functions were emerged from the ill family data. From the analysis of ill family data, types of restructuring house chore after wives illness were developed : (a) negociated, (b) accomodated, and (c) isolated, enduring types. Although the dimensions of family functioning identified in this study are similar to the conceptualizations that exist in the western literature, there were distinct differences in the nature of major themes and subconcepts under these family function dimensions.
Nursing science is focusing increasingly on family health care. Especially during the launching stage of family the grown-up sons daughters, and middlescent parents daughters have experienced a lot of change. The purpose of this study is to investigate the family health during the launching stage of the family by utilizing the family health assessment tool based on Roy's adaptation model. The Roy adaptation model was used as it is the best practice-based framework for Family Health Nursing Care. The data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The structure of the questionnaire was developed from the Family Health Assessment Tool by S.O. Jang(1996). The sample of 276 subjects was a convenient sample and data was obtained from November 14, 1996 to December 4, 1996. In order to analyze the collected data, this study utilized frequency, percentile, average, ANOVA, Cronbach's, and factor analysis. The results from this research are summarized as follows : 1. The degree of family health is average $95.24{\pm}9.40$ ranged in middle. 2. The significant difference between general characteristics and family health was only revealed with the major decision making person in the family. This research thus suggests the following : 1. The legal system is needed in order to check the family members' health state regularly. 2. With family nursing care, it has to identify who is the major decision maker in that family. 3. There is a need to redefine the family health assessment tool. 4. Further research will attempt to investigate family health in each family's developmental stage.
This study recognizes the changes of the father's role and the importance of family mealtimes as well as examines the individual, family and social contexts surrounding the father's family mealtime. This study analyzed the trend of the father's family mealtime frequency and factors affecting them in order to explore the current conditions of their father's work and family balance through family mealtimes. Data from 492 fathers who have school aged children were collected through an online survey. The overall trend of the frequency of father's family meals showed an average of 2.4 breakfasts and an average of 3.2 dinners per week. The frequency of the father's family meals showed statistically significant differences according to the father's age, children's school age, dual income, weekly working hours, working flexibility, leaving on-time and the priority of work and family. The analysis of hierarchical linear regressions was conducted to determine factors affecting the frequency of father's family mealtime to show that the frequency of father's family mealtime was best explained by father's working conditions and perception variables. Working conditions such as working hours, leaving work on time, working flexibility were significant variables in regards to the father's family mealtime frequency. The father's perception towards parental efficacy, wife's support, and work-family priority were significant factors in regards to the father's family mealtime frequency. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data on policy making for the compatibility of the father's work and family.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of mid-life family stress and family coping strategies according to conjugal sex and social class. This study was also intended to examine the relations between mid-life family stress and family coping strategies. The subjects of this study were 150 married couples(300 persons) who were 40 to 59 years old in Seoul. McCubbin, Wilson & Patterson (1979)'s "Family Inventory of Life Events and Changes" and McCubbin, Larsen & Olson (1982)'s "Family Coping Strategies" were used to gather data for the study. For the statistical analysis of data, factor analysis, T-test, Duncan's multiple Range Test, Pearson's r and cronbach's α for reliability were performed. The major results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. There were significant differences according to conjugal sex and social class in family stress; Wives reported more family stress than husbands. And the lower social class of the family, the more family stress were found. 2. There were some significant differences according to conjugal sex and social class in family coping strategies; Wives reported more family coping strategies than husbands in "freind and neighbor's support", "religious support". And the lower social class of the family, the more "passive attitudes" were found. 3. There were some significant correlations between family stress and family coping strategies; The higher extent of the total family stress, the lesser positive attitudes were found.
For modeling(skewed) semicircular data, we derive a new exponential family of distributions. We extend it to the l-axial exponential family of distributions by a projection for modeling any arc of arbitrary length. It is straightforward to generate samples from the l-axial exponential family of distributions. Asymptotic result reveals that the linear exponential family of distributions can be used to approximate the l-axial exponential family of distributions. Some trigonometric moments are also derived in closed forms. The maximum likelihood estimation is adopted to estimate model parameters. Some hypotheses tests and confidence intervals are also developed. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is adopted for a goodness of t test of the l-axial exponential family of distributions. Samples of orientations are used to demonstrate the proposed model.
The purpose of this study was to review the conceptual framework of social constructionism and critical social constructionism in the research area of multi-cultural family homes, using a literature review. Fopp argued that social constructionism had an objectivation problem that only considered the actor side as a policy object; therefore he suggested a weaker social constructionist perspective with moderate relativism and the application of feminist epistemology to marginal life for maximizing objectivity. This article explores a conceptual framework for studying the reality of housing of multi-cultural families in Korea in the light of constructionist ideas and presents a review of empirical positivist data to support the framework. Based on results, using the social constructionist framework, five contexts (structural, institutional, organizational, operational, and intersubjective) were reviewed and ideas were suggested to develop an appropriate future situation for multi-cultural family homes. For a weaker social constructionist framework, three National Survey of Multi-Cultural Family Homes data sets were reviewed to determine the real condition of multi-cultural family homes. Further, from a feminist perspective, the empirical data of marginalized multi-cultural family homes were reviewed from the perspectives of gender inequality of decision making, cultural adaptation, and differentiation in housing related areas. In conclusion, two perspectives were useful for understanding multi-cultural family housing in Korea but must be compensated with substantial empirical data for a holistic approach.

This quantitative study aims to examine the effect of family ownership on company performance empirically. Specifically, this study examines the moderating effect of corporate governance on the relationship between family ownership and company performance which has never been explored in the previous studies. This study's main target population was all listed companies in the Indonesian Capital Market Directory (ICMD) for 2008-2018. The study used criteria, namely data completeness, to measure research variables and obtained 2996 data or firm-year observations. The research contingency model to test the proposed hypothesis was the General Moment Method (GMM). The study presents the results of data descriptions shows the average, median, maximum, minimum, and standard deviation values for each variable. The descriptive data shows that family ownership is common in Indonesia: 64% of 244 companies in the sample. The inferential analysis results using a multiple regression model test show that family ownership significantly reduces company performance. However, corporate governance proxied by the board of directors, managerial risk profile, and independent commissioners significantly moderate the relationship between family ownership and company performance. Besides, the managerial risk profile and independent commissioners strengthened while the board of commissioners' presence weakened the effect of family ownership on performance.
