근거기반실무(Evidence-based Practice) 자기효능감, 교과목 요구도, 장애요인 및 촉진요인 탐색을 위한 혼합연구: 교수 및 임상실습 프리셉터를 중심으로 (Mixed Method Research Investigating Evidence-Based Practice Self-efficacy, Course Needs, Barriers, and Facilitators: From the Academic Faculty and Clinical Nurse Preceptors)

  • Purpose: The current challenges faced by nurses in providing high quality and evidence-based practice (EBP) supported care require profound changes in nursing education. To understand the changes needed to strengthen EBP education, the researchers examined EBP self-efficacy, course needs, barriers, and facilitators for academic faculty and clinical nurse preceptors to teach EBP in undergraduate nursing curricula. Methods: For this study, mixed-method approach was used with survey data collected from 73 academic faculty members from 54 universities. Further, 17 clinical nurse preceptors in three academic hospitals provided qualitative data for exploration of barriers and facilitators to teaching EBP. Data analysis used SPSS/WIN 21.0 and content analysis. Results: Quantitative data showed that although the overall level of self-efficacy among faculty was moderate, the implementation levels were relatively low. Most faculty members agreed with the need to integrate EBP courses into undergraduate nursing curricula. The qualitative data showed that the barriers to teaching EBP were lack of knowledge, skill, and initial investment for teaching EBP; hierarchical, rules-oriented nursing culture; potential learner overloads in processing EBP; limited research dissemination and application. Facilitators were identified as the importance of EBP to the profession of nursing; collaboration in schools and hospitals; and continuing education in teaching/utilizing EBP. Conclusion: The findings indicate that for successful integration of EBP ni nursing education there is a need for faculty training and integrated EBP courses.

교원업적평가와 성과연봉제 그리고 강의평가 (Faculty Performance Evaluation, Annual Salary and Student Course Evaluation)

  • 2011년 1월 교육과학기술부의 '공무원 보수규정 개정안'이 국무회의를 통과함으로써 국립대 교원을 대상으로 성과 연봉제가 3월에 신규 임용되는 교원부터 적용된다. 2013년에는 비정년 교원, 2015년에는 정년 교원을 포함한 전체 교원이 성과연봉제의 대상이다. 성과연봉제의 4개 등급인 S(20%), A(30%), B(40%), C(10%)로 모든 교원을 나누려면 상대평가 방식의 교원업적평가가 매년 이루어져야 한다. 교원업적평가 기준은 학교마다 다르겠지만 대부분의 대학들은 교육(40%), 연구(40%), 봉사(20%) 등의 3개 영역에서 약간의 비율 차이가 나는 정도일 것이다. 교육평가에서는 담당 수업 시간 수, 대학원 졸업생 배출, 학생 지도 등과 같이 손쉽게 양적 평가가 가능한 부분도 있지만, 정작 제일 중요한 교육의 질에 대한 평가는 어떻게 할 것인가? 몇몇 연구자들이 교원업적평가에 적용하기 위한 강의평가 점수의 사후 보정 방법을 제안하였다. 그러나 기존 연구자들이 제안한 강의평가 점수에 대한 사후 보정 방법을 전북대학교에 적용해 본 결과는 아직도 공정성과 객관성에 대한 시비를 면하기 어려운 것으로 나타났다. 더 나아가 교육의 질을 제대로 평가하려면 재학생의 강의평가 이외에 동료 교수, 교육 전문가, 졸업생, 기업인, 학과와 관련된 외부 인사 등의 강의평가를 함께 고려해보아야 할 것이다.

The Nature of Hope among Iranian Cancer Patients

  • Background: Hope is an important coping resource for cancer patients. Types and sources of hope and hope-inspiring strategies are not well investigated among Iranian cancer patients. The aims of present study were therefore to investigate the nature of hope and some demographic predictors of hope among Iranian cancer patients. Materials and Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was undertaken among 200 cancer patients admitted to an educational center affiliated to Ardabil University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Participants were selected using a convenience sampling method. The Herth Hope Index and other validated questionnaires were used to investigate level of hope and types and sources of hope, as well as hope-inspiring strategies. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Results: The overall score for hope was 31 from total scores ranging between 12 and 48. Some 94% of patients mentioned 'return to normal life' and 'complete healing of disease by drugs and physicians' as their main hopes. The most important sources of hope reported by patients include spiritual resources, family members, healthcare workers, and medicines and treatments available for the disease. Relationship with God, praying/blessing, controlling the signs and symptoms of the disease, and family/health care workers' support were the main hope-inspiring strategies. Patients who had a history of metastasis, or who were older, illiterate, divorced/widowed and lived with their children reported lower levels of hope. On the other hand, employed patients and those with good support from their families had higher levels of hope. Conclusions: The study findings showed moderate to high levels of hope among Iranian cancer patients. Accordingly, the role of spiritual/religion, family members and health care workers should be considered in developing care plans for these patients.

대상에 따른 시도별 학교급식 만족도에 영향을 미치는 급식 품질 속성의 규명 (Identifying the Quality Attributes Affecting Customer Satisfaction of School Foodservice by City and Province: Students, Parents, and Faculty)

  • This study had the following four objectives: a) to measure the quality attributes of school foodservice based on responses of students, parents, and faculty members, b) to compare the quality attributes by city and province, c) to analyze the overall satisfaction of the respondents, and d) to identify the effects of the quality attributes on overall satisfaction by city and province. Questionnaires were distributed to 5,560 students, 1,920 parents, and 1,920 faculty members, and were collected using on/off-line mail (collection rate: 100%). The data were analyzed using SPSS for descriptive analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis. From the quality attributes analysis, 'providing information on foodservice' was perceived as being performed well by the students (78.8), parents (76.0), and faculty (87.7). However, 'pleasant foodservice environment' was given low scores by the students (62.4), and 'entertains suggestions offered to foodservice' was perceived as low by 66.1% of the parents and 74.9% of the faculty. Upon comparing the quality attributes by city and province, the majority of scores by students and parents in Busan were significantly higher than those of students and parents in others geographical areas. The overall satisfaction levels (scores) were as follows: 66.4 for students, 70.0 for parents and, 76.8 for faculty. Finally, in the regression results, which showed the effects of the quality attributes on overall satisfaction by city and province, improvements of 'food taste', 'kindness offered by employees', and 'menu variety' would increase satisfaction in most cities and provinces. However, other identified attributes were significantly different among the 16 cities and provinces that were examined. Therefore, these regions will need to make different efforts to improve customer satisfaction for school foodservice.

대학교 교직원 및 그가족의 의료에 관한 연구 -이화 여자 대학교를 중심으로- (A Study on the Health Care of Ewha Womans University Staff, Faculty and Families)

  • A study on the health care of Ewha Womans University staff, faculty and families was conducted during the period from March 1973 to August 1974 using designed questionaire. A total of 196 persons who were randomly sampled as 27.3% of the total staff and faculty 789 were studied. The response rates were 96.0%. The results and findings obtained from the study are summerized as follow. 1. The sex ratio of the members the faculty and the staff shows 83.2% and the singles are 37.2% of the total. Their mean family size being 4.6 persons per capita, each family has mean number of 2.3 childeren. 2. The median monthly income of a member of faculty amounts \114,000 and that of a staff \43,077. It amounts \79,333 when the median monthly income of both the members of the faculty and the staff are taken. Consequently, it amounts \91,727\ per family (Assumed mean). 3. 71.4% of the total hold the house of their own. A spouses of 59.4% of them are working for the additional income of the family. 4. Their health condition is rated fair, i. e. 92.3% of them enjoy good health. Out of total members faculty and the staff, 20.6% are cared by family physician. 36.2% of them feel that they are burdened by heavy medical expense. 5. 76.7% of them have affirmatively responded that they would purchase medical insurance policy when they were offered. It reaches 84.0% of the total who consider buying the policy for their dependents. 74.0% of them desire to purchase the policy for their spouse's parents. 6. The monthly prevalence rate reaches 17.0% and the hospital admission rate 4.7%.12.3% of them affirmatively responded that they had chronic diseas. The number of sick call per capita counts 0.2 per month and the hospital admission rate 0.05. 7. To examine the nature of their disease, the respiratory disease is rated to be the top and the gastro-intestinal disease comes to the next. As far as chronic disease is concerned, the gastro-intestinal disease is predominent. 8. As to their treatment, 65.4% of them get the physician's treatment and 17.0% treatment of drug purchasing and 7.7% prefer Chinesedrug. 6.6% of them gets no medical treatment at all. 9. The treatment ratio, including drug purchasing and other means, reaches 93.4%. 60.7% of them affirmatively responded that they did not or could not get physician's treatment at least once even though they thought they had to. It is disclosed that 25.4% of them are caused by economical reason. 10. Average medical expense per case amounts \7,116 and monthly medical expense per capita \1,345. Consequently, average monthly medical expense per family amounts \6,185. 11. The medical expense of a family is rated 7.7% of total earnings of the same period.

대학의 GIS 교육과정 비교 분석 -한국과 미국의 지리학 전공학과- (Comparison of College-Level GIS Curricula between Geography Programs of the U.S. and Korea)

  • 본고에서는 지리학계의 GIS 교육과정을 정립하기 위한 교과과정을 도출하고 이를 담당할 적정 교원 수를 산정하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 미국의 교육 과정과 담당 교원 수를 한국의 지리학 관련학과 현황과 비교 정리하였다. 미국의 235개 대학교 지리학과의 전공과정과 인증과정을 정리한 것을 바탕으로 NCGIA와 UCGIS를 대표하는 4개 대학교와 지리학 관련학과 1개 대학교를 포함한 5개 대학교와 국내 전체 27개 지리학과에 대해 세부 GIS 과정 교과목, 교원 수, 교육과정을 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 우선 교육과정에 있어서 미국은 GIS 전공과정과 인증과정을 구분하여 제공하고 있으나 국내 지리학과는 GIS 과정을 따로 두지 않고 있다. GIS 교과목 수에서 미국은 GIS 관련 16과목 이상을 제공하고 과정 이수를 위해 7과목(21학점) 이상 이수하도록 하고 있으나, 국내 지리학과들은 최대 6개 과목을 제공하고 있으며 졸업을 위해 평균 2과목(6학점)을 이수하도록 요구하고 있다. 교원 수에 있어서 미국의 지리학과는 GIS 주전공 교원이 평균 31%인데 반해, 국내의 경우는 평균 25% 이하에 머물고 있다. 본고에서는 국내 GIS 교과과정 수립을 위한 19개 세부 교과목을 마련하였으며, 학과당 약 2명의 GIS 주전공 교원을 적정 규모로 제시하였다. 이는 향후 국내 지리학과의 진퇴를 좌우할 수 있는 졸업생들의 취업 경로를 확대하고 지리정보와 관련된 다양한 사회적 요구를 반영하는 데에 중요한 역할을 담당할 것으로 기대된다.

Post-cracking behavior of UHPC on the concrete members reinforced by steel rebar

  • Since the concrete strength around the reinforcement rebar affects the tension stiffening, the tension stiffening effect of ultra high performance concrete on the concrete members reinforced by steel rebar is examined by testing the specimens with circular cross section with the length 850 mm reinforced by a steel rebar at the center of a specimen's cross section in this research. Conducting a tensile test on the specimens, the cracking behavior is evaluated and a curve with an exponential descending branch is obtained to explain the post-cracking zone. In addition, this paper proposes an equation for this branch and parameters of equation is obtained based on the ratio of cover thickness to rebar diameter (c/d) and reinforcement percentage (${\rho}$).

이용자 연구에 관한 연구동향 분석 (An Analysis of the Research Trend on The Information User studies)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the research trend of information user studies. The following findings are made. The literature on information user studies during 1980-1990 reveals 120 titles. The faculty members of university tend to publish their results in scientific journals and university publication while non-faculty members are more likely to represent their research papers in unpublished master thesis and bulletin. Subject distribution of research were classified into ten: user studies, material use studies, information needs and uses, user education, library use pattern, citation analysis, journal use, catalog use, information system, non-use study. Survey research, literature research, survey reserch and literature research use jointly, experimental research and citation analysis were employed for information user studies.

Saudi Universities Electronic Portals: A Case Study of Northern Border University

  • The study aimed to analyze the current situation of the electronic portal of the Northern Border University, in terms of content and components, the extent of quality of use, service assurance and integrity, linguistic coverage of objective content, in addition to assessing the efficiency of the Blackboard e-learning platform and measuring the degree of safety of the portal, in addition to measuring the extent of satisfaction, through a sample that included 135 faculty members, as the researcher was keen to apply the case study methodology with the use of the questionnaire as the main tool for measurement, and the study found that there is an average trend among faculty members in the degree of content for the components of the portal and electronic security While it rose to good use, and very good at using the Blackboard platform.

Designing an Electronic Course and Its Impact on Developing University Students' Computational Thinking Skills

  • The study investigated the effects of differences in some electronic course designs on university students' Computational Thinking Skills (CTS). Towards this end, the researcher adopted the experimental research design of a quasi-experimental of two experimental groups. The first group was taught an e-course designed in a sequential pattern, and the other group's course was designed according to the holistic model. A CTSs test was prepared to collect the relevant data, and the data were analyzed statistically using these tests- Pearson correlation Mann Whitney and Alpha Cronbach. Results revealed statistically-significant differences at the level α=0.05 between the mean scores of the first and second experimental groups in favor of the latter in the CTS test. The findings gave ground to put forward some salient recommendations, including the need to expand computational thinking in universities' educational process. It also recommends urging faculty members to enhance e-courses in the educational process and provide technical support to students and faculty members.
