  • A Modified equivalent circuit by combining a series and parallel of polymer matrix for estimating the dielectric constant ${\bar{K}}_{33}$ values changing the volume percent of $PbTiO_3$, the dependences of frequency for the 713 and dissipation factor for 0 - 3 composites was derived. The difference of the dielectric constant and dissipation factor between the calculated and measured values became smaller at higher volume percent of $PbTiO_3$. There was, good agreement between the calculated and observed results for 70 volume percent of $PbTiO_3$ and 30 volume percent of Eccogel composite at 1(KHz), 25($^{\circ}C$). The optimized variable x was 0.94 in $PbTiO_3$ ceramics. $PbTiO_3$ powder and Eccogel polymer were used as piezoelectric fillers and matrix, respectively.

  • Conductive Ceramic Matrix Composite(CMC) of TIC/Al2O3 and Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) of SiC/Al were experienced by the die sinking Electrical Discharge Machining(EDM) for different current and duty factor according to negative polarity. Inthis experimental study Material Removal Rate(MRR) maximum surface roughness four point bending stress distribution and Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) Photographs were analysed. the higher MRR was obtained for CMC than MMC but slowly decreased around duty factor of 0.67 for MMC and better surface morphology was found CMC than MMC. The SEM photographs of discharge traces for CMC showe uniform shape about 100 to 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter but MMC showed irregular shape.

강건성 지수를 이용한 강건설계 기법의 개발 (Development of a Robust Design Process Using a Robustness Index)

  • Design goal is to find the one that has the highest probability of success and the smallest variation. A robustness index has been proposed to satisfy these conditions. The two-step optimization process of the target problem requires a scaling factor. The search process of a scaling factor is replaced with the making of the decoupled design between the mean and the standard deviation. The decoupled design matrix is formed from the sensitivity or the sum of squares. After establishing the design matrix, the robust design process has a new three-step one. The first is ″reduce variability,″ the second is ″make the candidate designs that satisfy constraints and move the mean on the target,″ and the final is ″select the best robust design using the proposed robustness index.″ The robust design process is verified by three examples and the results using the robustness index are compared with those of other indices.

신속한 상정사고해석 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study of Fast Contingency Analysis Algorithm)

  • With the rapid increase of contingency cases due to complication of power system, the reduction of computation time in contingency analysis has become more significant than ever before. This paper deals with the development of a fast contingency analysis algorithm by using a matrix decomposition method. The proposed matrix decomposition method of contingency analysis yields an accurate solution by using the original triangular factor table. An outstanding feature of this method is of no need of factor table modification for network changes due to contingency outages. The proposed method is also applicable to multiple contingency analysis withremarkable reduction of computation time. The algorithm has been tested for a number of single and multiple contigencies in 17-bus and 50-bus systems. The numerical results show its applicability to practical power systems.

  • The effects of short fiber and particle hybrid reinforcement on fatigue crack propagation behaviors in aluminum matrix composites have been investigated. Single and hybrid reinforced 6061 aluminum containing same 20 $Al_2O_3\;volume\%$ with four different constituent ratios of short fibers and particles were prepared by squeeze casting method and tested to check the near-threshold and stable crack growth behavior. The fatigue threshold of the composites increased with portion of particle contents and showed the improved crack resistance especially in low stress intensity range. Addition of particle instead of short fiber also increased fracture toughness due to increase of inter-reinforcement distance. These increase in both fatigue threshold and fracture toughness eventually affected the fatigue crack growth behavior such that the crack growth curve shift low to high stress intensity factor value. Overall experimental results were shown that particle reinforcement was enhanced the fatigue crack resistance over the whole stress intensity factor range.

  • Input filter is an essential component in a practical matrix converter (MC) system to generate the sinusoidal input currents. However, the input filter causes a displacement angle between the input current of MC and the source current. In this paper, we investigate the input filter design for MCs by considering the displacement angles of the input current and the input voltage to guarantee high input power factor (IPF) operation as well as low input current harmonic contents. Simulation results are provided to validate the input filter design with near unity input power factor and low total harmonic distortion (THD) of the input current.

  • This paper presents an efficient method for determining the economic dispatch of thermal generator using an alternative Jacobian matrix considering system constraints. The transmission loss is approximately expressed as a funtion of generating powers and the generalized generation factor. From this expression, the Jacobian matrix is formulated and solved by the Newton Raphson Method. In this method, the economic dispatch problem is solved rapidly without calculating the penalty factor. The proposed method has fast convergency characteristic and good accuracy. The feasibility of this method is demonstrated by means of examples.

  • Loss factors of A356, Mn-Cu alloy and aluminum matrix composites reinforced with $SiC_p$ and Ni-coated graphite particles at various contents have been investigated using clamped-free cantilever beam method. The loss factors of half-power bandwidth of the specimens were measured over a wide range of frequencies from 50 to 3300Hz. Among the specimens, Al-10%$SiC_p$-10%$C_p$ showed the highest loss factor at the mode I, while Mn-Cu alloy showed the highest loss factors at the modes II and III. Consequently, at the mode I the Al-10%$SiC_p$--10%$C_p$ showed the loss factor of 0.00093, which is 2.64 and 1.58 times higher than those of A356 and Mn-Cu alloy, respectively.

  • Single-phase power factor correction (PFC) converter circuits are non-linear systems due to the contribution of their multiplier. This non-linearity causes difficulties in analysis and design. Models that reduce the system to a linear system involve considerable approximation, and produce results that are susceptible to instability problems. In this paper a piecewise affine (PWA) system is introduced for describing the nonlinear averaged model. Then robust output feedback controllers are established in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI). Simulation and experiments results show the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • We study the structure of rings whose factor rings modulo nonzero proper ideals are right duo; such rings are called right FD. We first see that this new ring property is not left-right symmetric. We prove for a non-prime right FD ring R that R is a subdirect product of subdirectly irreducible right FD rings; and that R/N∗(R) is a subdirect product of right duo domains, and R/J(R) is a subdirect product of division rings, where N∗(R) (J(R)) is the prime (Jacobson) radical of R. We study the relation among right FD rings, division rings, commutative rings, right duo rings and simple rings, in relation to matrix rings, polynomial rings and direct products. We prove that if a ring R is right FD and 0 ≠ e2 = e ∈ R then eRe is also right FD, examining that the class of right FD rings is not closed under subrings.
