  • Korea's long underground roads are being promoted around the metropolitan city center to realize advanced transportation networks. Many disaster prevention facilities are applied to secure fire safety of the closed and long-distance underground roads. As the facility response and fire suppression subjects are unclear, additional human and material damages from fire spread are inevitable. Therefore, in this study, we developed a remote automatic fire extinguishing system that uses the fire extinguishing water inside the fire hydrant to monitor the CCTV in the management room and sprays it directly to the fire site through automatic control. The design application method was studied through the performance improvement that can be put into practical use.

  • The visual implementation of 3-dimensional national environment is focused by the requirement and importance in the fields such as, urban planing, telecommunication facility deployment plan, railway construction, construction engineering, spatial city development, safety and disaster prevention engineering. The currently used DEM system based on the 2-D digital maps and contour lines has limitation in implementation in reproducing the 3-D spatial city. Currently, the LiDAR data which combines the laser and GPS skill has been introduced to obtain high resolution accuracy in the altitude measurement in the advanced country. In this paper, we first introduce the LiDAR based researches in advanced foreign countries, then we propose the data generation scheme and an solution algorithm for the optimal management of our 3-D spatial u-City construction. For this purpose, LiDAR based height data transformed to DEM, and the realtime unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via exactness evaluation is transformed to make it possible to trace the model of generated 3-dimensional model with long distance for 3D u-city model generation.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate user satisfaction with village bathhouses, selected from a two-year pilot project of common facilities for seniors in rural areas from 2014 to 2015. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire to evaluate user satisfaction, and 96 questionnaires were collected from 10 village bathhouses. User satisfaction was evaluated in five categories with a five-point scale: location and spatial composition; emotions and intimacy; safety; hygiene and equipment; and maintenance and management. The results are as follows. First, scores on hygiene and equipment stood at four points or higher, indicating higher user satisfaction. However, scores on the other four categories were below four points. But when overall user satisfaction was evaluated on a five-point scale, the average score stood at 4.13out of five points and 89.5 out of 100 points. These findings suggest that users were generally satisfied with the bathhouses. Second, a comparison of bathing patterns from before and after bathhouse construction in villages revealed that 42.7% of residents had previously gone to neighboring villages to bathe. Local bathhouse construction led to an increase in overall bathing frequency, exerting a beneficial effect on hygiene. Third, general user satisfaction correlated more closely with items related to location and spatial composition than items of other categories, indicating that the architectural elements of the bathhouses have a major impact. Finally, access to a bathhouse at all times showed strong correlation with satisfaction levels, suggesting a need for the establishment of more bathhouses throughout rural areas.

  • Since the bridge is the main facility of the road that is the core of the civil infrastructure, the bridge is constructed to ensure stability and serviceability during the traffic use. In order to secure the safety of bridges, evaluating the integrity of bridges at present is an important task in the maintenance work of bridges. In general, to evaluate the load carrying capacity of bridges, it is possible to confirm the superimposed behavior and symmetric behavior of bridges by estimating the lateral load distribution factor of the bridges through vehicle loading tests. However, in order to measure the lateral load distribution factor of a commonly used bridge, a static loading test is performed. There is a difficulty in traffic control. Therefore, in this study, the static displacement component of the bridge measured in the dynamic loading test and the ambient vibration test was extracted by using empirical mode decomposition technique. The lateral load distribution was estimated using the extracted static displacement component and compared with the lateral load distribution factor measured in the static loading test.

  • This article is designed to establish fundamental design criterion for theme park cast costumes in accordance with play type and space. There is an understanding that theme parks act as a play space that is designed to meet diverse playing desires. To analyze cast costumes, the theme park - 'Everland' in South Korea as an example, area was divided into attraction space and non-attraction space. Attraction space is mainly for full-scale play content areas and the non-attraction space is to enforce the attraction space experience. Roger Caillois's play theory states that there are 4 play types; Illinx, Mimicry, $Ag{\hat{o}}n$, and Alea. All 4 play types were shown through attraction and Mimicry at non-attraction. Each cast costume was analyzed in terms of apparel design elements - silhouette, textile, color, detail, and props - related to play type facility and cast role. Criteria for theme park cast costume designs were suggested based on the results. Illinx cast members who fulfill a safety-checking role wear high chroma warm color costumes with the accent on details in bodice cutting lines, collar edges, pockets, buttons and decorative ornaments. A complementary contrast is also used. The guidance cast in Illinx may wear a suit in bright/vivid color. Mimicry guidance cast costumes show meticulous perfection in imitation with the figure in its space. From head to toe, color, textile, and silhouette - every detail and even props should match the character. $Ag{\hat{o}}n$ cast costumes are strictly limited in detail and decorative ornament usage as well as in color, since they are in charge of the management and operation of a competition. Alea cast's role is a self-demonstrator. Alea cast members should be a real tarot card reader. However, a manual should control their costumes. A total of 10 cast roles at a non-attraction space should be designed to show job patterns clearly in accordance with the whole theme at the park.

  • Plans of underground roads have been established, and the possibilities of underground road constructions have been growing in Korea. However, the study on characteristics of underground roads, the enactment of law, and the establishment of design criteria haven't been conducted so far, if any. Based on these backgrounds, the paper presents the basic direction on the construction method of underground roads. It also investigates the needs and characteristics of underground roads and reviews domestic and foreign examples. Major results by implementing the research are as follows: 1) when selecting the route of underground roads, the use of underground space, technical aspects, and traffic systems should be comprehensively considered; 2) the design speed of underground roads will be 10km/h above the speed limit to secure safety; 3) disaster prevention facilities should be planned to connect high traffic management system for coping with unexpected situations. Although this study has a limitation that hasn't reflected the driver's characteristics on new spaces such as underground roads, it has some significance that it suggests the major reviewing issues on the construction of underground roads, and presents the direction through the previous study.
