The question of the bicyclohomoaromatic stabilization and destabilization is examined. The chemistry of bicyclo(3.2.1)octa-3,6-dienide anion has been studied on order to test these concepts. The bicyclooctadienide anion is shown to be stable delocalized ion which undergoes a facile proton-deuterium exchange reaction. The solvolysis of bicyclo(3.2.1)octa-3,6-dienyl p-nitrobenzoate is much slower than the monoene analog. We have made direct observation of the bicyclooctadienyl and octenyl cations by $^{19}F$-nmr spectroscopy, and were able to demonstrate that the bicyclooctadienyl cation was bishomoantiaromatic.

$SF_6$ gas would be used in power transformer, GIS (Gas insulated switchgear) and so on because of its electrically superior insulation and chemically stable structure. Recently, the reduction of $SF_6$ is required to avoid global warming and the researches on the dilution of $SF_6$ with other gases have been carried out. $SF_6$ mixture gases with $N_2$ and $C_xF_y$ have drawn attention to the synergy effect. However, in order to understand the mechanism of the synergy effect, it is important to analyze and evaluate properties of mixture gases quantitatively. In this paper, we investigated the mechanism of synergy effect from electron collision processes and electron energy distribution by solving Boltzmann equation with propagator method. Three kinds of gases for dilution of $SF_6$ ($SF_6/N_2$, $SF_6/CF$4 and $SF_6/C_4F_8$) are considered in this simulation. On the properties of $SF_6/N_2$ mixture gas, the variation of reduced electric field was shown highly within 0%~40% mixtures of $SF_6$. And the more low-level electron energy has been distributed, the higher insulation capability has appeared.
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are multipotent cells that reside in the bone marrow and replenish all adult hematopoietic lineages throughoutthe lifetime. In this study, we analyzed the expression of receptors of $P2Y_{10}$, purinergic receptor families in murine hematopoietic stem cells, hematopoietic progenitor cells. In addition, the biological activity of $P2Y_{10}$ was investigated with B lymphocyte cell line, Ba/F3 in effect to cell growth and cell cycle. From the analysis of expression in hematopoieticstem cell. and progenitor with RT-PCR, $P2Y_{10}$ was strongly expressed in murine hematopoieticstem cells (c-kit+ Sca-l+ Lin-) and progenitor cell population, such as c-kit- Sca-l+ Lin-, c-kit+ Sca-l- Lin- and c-kit- Sca-l- Lin-. To investigate the biological effects by $P2Y_{10}$, retroviral vector from subcloned murine $P2Y_{10}$ cDNA was used fur gene introduction into Ba/F3 cells, and stable transfectant cells were obtained by flow cytometry sorting. In cell proliferation assay, the proliferation ability of $P2Y_{10}$ receptor genetransfected cells was strongly inhibited, and the cell cycle was arrested at G1 phase. These result suggest that the $P2Y_{10}$ may be involved the biological activity in hematopoietic stem cells and immature B lymphocytes.
Galactic spiral arms are abundant with interesting gaseous substructures. It has been suggested that arm substructures arise from the wiggle instability (WI) of spiral shocks. While the nature of the WI remained elusive, our recent work without considering magnetic fields shows that the WI is physically originated from the accumulation of potential vorticity (PV) generated by deformed shock fronts. To elucidate the characteristics of the WI in more realistic galactic situations, we extend our previous linear stability analysis of spiral shocks by including magnetic fields. We find that magnetic fields reduce the amount of density compression at shocks, making the shock fronts to move toward the upstream direction. Magnetic tension forces from bent field lines stabilize the WI by prevent the generation of PV. When the spiral-arm forcing is F=5% of the centrifugal force of galaxy rotation, the maximum growth rate of the WI is found to be about 1.0, 0.4, and 0.2 times the orbital angular frequency for the plasma parameter ${\beta}=100$, 10, and 5, respectively. Shocks with ${\beta}=1$ are stable to the WI for F=5%, while becoming still unstable when F=10%.
Recently film-typed dye sensitized solar cell(DSC) attracts much attention with increasing applications for its flexibility and transparency. The ZnO:Al thin film, which serves mainly as transparent conducting electrode, Aluminium-doped zinc oxide(ZnO:Al) thin film has emerged as one of the most promising transparent conducting films since it is inexpensive, mechanically stable, and highly resistant to deoxidation. In this paper ZnO:Al thin film was deposited on the polyethylene terephthalate(PET) substrate by the capacitively coupled r. f. magnetron sputtering method. The effects of gas pressure and r. f. discharge power on the morphological, electrical and optical properties of ZnO:Al thin film were studied. Especially the variation in substrate thickness after sputtering and surface morphology of the substrate were investigated and clarified. The results showed that the film deposited on the PET substrate at r. f. discharge power of 180 W showed the minimum resistivity of about $1.5{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}-cm$ and a transmittance of about 93%.
To produce ethanol from Jerusalem artichoke powder efficiently, Kluyveromyces marxianus F043 cells were encapsulated in 2% sodium alginate and were cultured in a countinuous reactor to investigate the fermentation properties. Immobilized K. marxianus F043 cells were activated for 48 hours in a fermentor for continuous ethanol production. The culture in a CSTR using a Jerusalem artichoke substrate treated with 2% cellulase showed a decrease in ethanol concentration and an increase in residual saccharide concentration with a increasing dilution rate. Optimum conditions for high ethanol productivity and low residual saccharide output were clarified to be given at a dilution rate of 0.2 h$^{-1}$ and a Jerusalem artichoke medium concentration of 75 g/l. Ethanol productivity of 3.1 g/l-h and saccharide utilization of 62.6% were obtained under the optimum condition. When the fermentation was performed for 3 weeks under these conditions, the effluent medium showed stable ethanol concentrations of 16.3 - 17.9 g/l and viable cells of 6.60-7.16 log cells/ml without contamination. Trace amounts of methyl, n-propyl, iso-butyl, isoamyl alcohols besides ethanol were detected.
Actin dynamics is critical for the formation and sustainment of the immunological synapse (IS) during T cell interaction with antigen-presenting cells (APC). Thus, many actin regulating proteins are involved in spatial and temporal actin remodeling at the IS. However, little is known whether or how actin stabilizing protein controls IS and the consequent T cell functions. TAGLN2 − an actin-binding protein predominantly expressed in T cells − displays a novel function to stabilize cortical F-actin, thereby augmenting F-actin contents at the IS, and acquiring leukocyte function-associated antigen-1 activation following T cell activation. TAGLN2 also competes with cofilin to protect F-actin in vitro and in vivo. During cytotoxic T cell interaction with cancer cells, the expression level of TAGLN2 at the IS correlates with the T cell adhesion to target cancer cells and production of lytic granules such as granzyme B and perforin, thus expressing cytotoxic T cell function. These findings identify a novel function for TAGLN2 as an actin stabilizing protein that is essential for stable immunological synapse formation, thereby regulating T cell immunity. Purpose: This research was for checking the effect of meridian massage on the reduction of pain and subjective symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome. Method: The method of the research was interruptive time series design. The research objects are 25 hospital workers with myofascial pain syndrome at B hospital in Busan from July 22, 2002 to August 18, 2002. SPSS Win 10.0 was used for data analysis, paired t-test and repeated measures ANOVA for hypothesis test. Result: The recipients of meridian massage felt less pain than before(F=12.587, p=.000). The recipients of meridian massage felt less often than before (F=6.705, p=.001). The recipients of meridian massage got lower score on subjective symptoms of myofascial pain than before(F=12.857, p=.000). The recipients of meridian massage had lower blood pressure than before(systolic blood pressure; t=4.697, p=.000, diastolic blood pressure; t=3.426, p=.002). The recipients of meridian massage did not get the lower number of pulse than before(t=0.33, p=.744). Conclusion: The above results show that meridian massage is effective on the reduction of pain and subjective symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome and makes stable the blood pressure. Therefore meridian massage can be apply as the effective intervention for the reduction of pain and subjective symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome.
We propose the development and test result of new optical axis alignment system for the interchangeable F/8 secondary mirror of the BOAO 1.8m telescope system. Since the original system was not equipped with a suitable optical alignment facility, the whole alignment process was performed by hand. It was necessary at least three persons working more than 2 nights and the altitude of the telescope could not exceed 10 degrees, in such altitude the alignment quality was not so good by atmospheric effect. The new system adopts position readable motorized system and remote control operation by the computer installed in observation room, which reduces the number of workers to only one and eliminates the altitude restriction. The defocused CCD image pair obtained at higher altitude makes the aberration estimates more accurately and the number of required alignment loops is reduced from 10 to 4. The system has been installed on September 1, and performed alignment three times. The test results show that the system is stable and accurate, gives better optical performance of the telescope under F/8 focus. We hope to emphasize the fact that the new system will increase observation time of the telescope by about 20 nights per year assuming one alignment in every month.
An antifungal Pseudomonas stutzeri YPL-1 produced extracellular chitinase and .betha.-1, 3-glucanase that were key enzymes in the decomposition of fungal hyphal walls. These lytic extracellular enzymes markedly inhibited mycelial growth of the phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium solani. A chitinase from P. stutzeri YPL-1 inhibited fungal mycelial growth by 87%, whereas a .betha.-1, 3-glucanase from the bacterium inhibited growth by 53%. Furthermore, co-operative action of the enzymes synergistically inhibited 95% of the fungal growth. The lytic enzymes caused absnormal swelling and retreating on the fungal hyphal walls in a dual cultures. Scanning electron microscopy clearly showed hyphal degradation of F. solani in the regions interacting with P. stutzeri YPL-1. In an in vivo pot test, P. stutzeri YPL-1 proved to have biocontrol ability as a powerful agent in controlling plant disease. Planting of kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seedlings with the bacterial suspension in F. solani-infested soil significantly suppressed the development of fusarial root-rot. The characteristics of a crude preparation of .betha.-1, 3-glucanase produced from P. stutzeri YPL-1 were investigated. The bacterium detected after 2 hr of incubation. The enzyme had optimum temperature and pH of 40.deg.C and pH 5.5, respectively. The enzyme was stable in the pH range of 4.5 to 7.0 and at temperatures below 40.deg.C, with a half-life of 40 min at 60.deg.C.
