  • This paper presents an approach to the classifications of small size document using the instance-based feature filtering Relief-F algorithm. In the document classifications, we have not always good classification performances of small size document included a few features. Because total number of feature in the document set is large, but feature count of each document is very small relatively, so the similarities between documents are very low when we use general assessment of similarity and classifiers. Specially, in the cases of the classification of web document in the directory service and the classification of the sectors that cannot connect with the original file after recovery hard-disk, we have not good classification performances. Thus, we propose the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm using instance-based feature filtering algorithm Relief-F to solve problems of Relief-F as preprocess of classification. For the performance comparison, we tested information gain, odds ratio and Relief-F for feature filtering and getting those feature values, and used kNN and SVM classifiers. In the experimental results, the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm, compared with the others, performed best for all of the datasets and reduced many irrelevant features from document sets.

  • Gibberella fujikuroi species complex (GFSC) was isolated from rice (Oryza sativa L.) seed samples from ten Asian countries and investigated for incidence of GFSC, molecular characteristics, and pathogenicity. Regardless of geographic origin, GFSC was detected with incidences ranging from 3% to 80%. Four species, Fusarium fujikuroi, F. concentricum, F. proliferatum, and F. verticillioides, were found to show an association with rice seeds, with F. fujikuroi being the predominant species. In phylogenetic analyses of DNA sequences, no relationship was found between species, isolates, and geographic sources of samples. Unidentified fragments of the ${\beta}$-tubulin gene were observed in ten isolates of F. fujikuroi and F. verticillioides. With the exception of three isolates of F. fujikuroi, F. fujikuroi, F. proliferatum, and F. verticillioides were found to have FUM1 (the fumonisin biosynthetic gene); however, FUM1 was not found in isolates of F. concentricum. Results of pathogenicity testing showed that all isolates caused reduced germination of rice seed. In addition, F. fujikuroi and F. concentricum caused typical symptoms of bakanae, leaf elongation and chlorosis, whereas F. proliferatum and F. verticillioides only caused stunting of seedlings. These findings provide insight into the characteristics of GFSC associated with rice seeds and might be helpful in development of strategies for management of bakanae.

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a wireless network that gathers information from remote area with autonomously configured routing path. We propose a fusion based routing for a 'convergecast' in which all sensors periodically forward collected data to a base station. Previous researches dealt with only full-fusion or no-fusion case. Our Fusion rate based Spanning Tree (FST) can provide effective routing topology in terms of total cost according to all ranges of fusion rate f ($0{\leq}f{\leq}1$). FST is optimum for convergecast in case of no-fusion (f = 0) and full-fusion (f = 1) and outperforms the Shortest Path spanning Tree (SPT) or Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) for any range of f (0 < f < 1). Simulation of 100-node WSN shows that the total length of FST is shorter than MST and SPT nearby 31% and 8% respectively in terms of topology lengths for all range of f. As a result, we confirmed that FST is a very useful WSN topology.

  • Acoustically a naturally-spoken vowel is composed of five formants. However, the acoustic quality of a vowel is known to be mostly determined by $F_1\;and\;F_2$. The main purpose of this study was to examine how synthesized vowels with $F_1\;and\;F_2$ are perceived by Korean native speakers. In addion, we are interested in finding whether the synthesized vowels are perceived differently by standard Korean speakers and Kyungnam regional dialect speakers. In the experiment 9 Seoul standard Korean speakers and 9 Kyungnam dialect speakers heard 536 vowels synthesized in vowel space with $F_1\;by\;F_2$ and categorized them into one of 10 Korean vowels. The resultant vowel map showed that each Korean vowel occupies an unique area in the two-dimensional vowel space of $F_1\;by\;F_2$, and confirmed that $F_1\;and\;F_2$ play important roles in the perception of vowels. The results also showed that the Seoul speakers and the Kyungnam speakers perceive the synthesized vowels differently. For example, /e/ versus /$\varepsilon$/ contrast, /y/, and /$\phi$/ are perceived differently by the Seoul speakers, whereas they were perceptually confused by the Kyungnam speakers. These results might be due to the different vowel systems of the standard Korean and the Kyungnam regional dialect. While the latter uses a six-vowel system which has no /e/ vs /$/ contrast, /v/ vs /i/ contrast, /y/, and /$\phi$/, the former recognizes these as different vowels. This result suggests that the vowel system of differing dialect restricts the perception of the Korean vowels. Unexpectedly /i/ does not occupy any area in the vowel apace. This result suggests that /i/ cannot be synthesized without $F_3$.

  • An investigation made of fabric strength & elongation and the lock stitch seam strength & elongation by stitch density (N1.5; 26 stitches/3 cm, N2.0; 19 stitches/3 cm, N2.5; 14 stitches/3cm) depending on methods of. sample prepariation (angle variations of unseamed sample and overlapping way of seamed sample) It found maximum stitch density that results of the seam strength test was highist in each angle of bias. The results obstained were as follows: 1. As the results of fabric strength and elongation tests as a function of angle of bias, breaking strength were that warp and weft angles (0$^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$) were much higher than bias angles (20$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$) . And otherwise breaking elongation were that 45$^{\circ}$ angle of bias were highest and were that the warp & weft way were lower. 2. As the results of the seam strength tests by the stitch density under samples of same angles, the maximum stitch density were those; under 0$^{\circ}$/0$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$/60$^{\circ}$:F1, F2-N2.0, F3-N1.5, under 20$^{\circ}$/20$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$/30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$/45$^{\circ}$: F1-N2.5, F2-N2.0, F3-N1.5, under 90$^{\circ}$/90$^{\circ}$: F1, F2, F3-N1.5. 3. As the results of the seam strength tests by the stitch density under samples of symmetry angles, the maximum stitch density were those; under 20$^{\circ}$/-20$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$/-30$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$/-60$^{\circ}$: F1, F3-N1.5, F2-N2.0, under 45$^{\circ}$/-45$^{\circ}$: F1, F2-N2.0, F3-N1.5.

  • There have been performed many researched for flood magnitude analysis, for example, the Flood-Duration-Frequency relations in the west. Because flood water stage data are more available rather than flood amount data at flood gauge stations of Korea, this study developed Flood water level-Duration-Frequency (Fwl-D-F) curves using rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency(I-D-F) curves for the quantitative flood risk assessment in urban watersheds. Fwl-D-F curve is made from water level data for 18 years at Joongrayng bridge station of Joongrayng River basin in Han River drainage area. Fwl-D-F curve can estimate the occurrence frequency for a certain flood elevation, which can be used for urban flood forecasting. It is expected that the flood elevation can be estimated from the forecasted rainfall data using both Fwl-D-F and I-D-F curves.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the hematology and serum chemistry values on Sprague-Dawley rats, used sodium fluoride (NaF) for 5 weeks. Seven-week-old male rats were divided into nine groups and fed experimental diets with oral NaF treatment, basal diet group (BG), basal diet plus oral NaF groups (NF3~NF50). Concentrations of non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, uric acid in serum were significantly higher in the oral NaF groups than BG (𝛼=0.05). Total calcium (T-Ca) and phosphorus (Pi) concentrations was observed to be significant difference, it was decreased with an increase in the NaF levels (𝛼=0.05). Accordingly, sodium fluoride exposures and dose-response relationship, which was found on the bad influences in hematology. Such association is considered that the long-term fluoride exposure caused nephrotoxicity.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to find the DoF(Depth of field) that is blurred in an image by focusing and out-focusing the camera through a efficient convolutional neural network. Our approach uses the RGB channel-based cross-correlation filter to efficiently classify the DoF region from the image and build data for learning in the convolutional neural network. A data pair of the training data is established between the image and the DoF weighted map. Data used for learning uses DoF weight maps extracted by cross-correlation filters, and uses the result of applying the smoothing process to increase the convergence rate in the network learning stage. The DoF weighted image obtained as the test result stably finds the DoF region in the input image. As a result, the proposed method can be used in various places such as NPR(Non-photorealistic rendering) rendering and object detection by using the DoF area as the user's ROI(Region of interest).

  • While PFOS sodium salt ($C_8F_{17}SO_3Na$) was not degraded by microorganisms for 28 days, the 4 alternatives were biodegraded at the rates of 21.6% for $C_{25}F_{17}H_{32}S_3O_{13}Na_3$, 20.5% for $C_{15}F_9H_{21}S_2O_8Na_2$, 15.8% for $C_{23}F_{18}H_{28}S_2O_8Na_2$ and 6.4% for $C_{17}F_9H_{25}S_2O_8Na_2$, respectively. The acute toxicity test using Daphnia magna was conducted for 48 hours, the half effective concentration ($EC_{50}$) of PFOS sodium salt ($C_8F_{17}SO_3Na$) was evaluated in 54.5 mg/L. While the 4 alternatives did not show any effect at 500.0 mg/L. The surface tension of the PFOS salt ($C_8F_{17}SO_3Na$) is 46.2 mN/m at a concentration of 500.0 mg/L. While the surface tension of the 4 alternatives was found to be superior to PFOS sodium salt ($C_8F_{17}SO_3Na$). The surface tension of $C_{23}F_{18}H_{28}S_2O_8Na_2$ (20.9 mN/m) has the lowest, followed by $C_{15}F_9H_{21}S_2O_8Na_2$ (23.4 mN/m), $C_{17}F_9H_{25}S_2O_8Na_2$ (27.3 mN/m), $C_{25}F_{17}H_{32}S_3O_{13}Na_3$ (28.2 mN/m). The four kinds of alternatives ($C_{15}F_9H_{21}S_2O_8Na_2$, $C_{17}F_9H_{25}S_2O_8Na_2$, $C_{23}F_{18}H_{28}S_2O_8Na_2$, $C_{25}F_{17}H_{32}S_3O_{13}Na_3$) were found to be superior to PFOS sodium salt ($C_8F_{17}SO_3Na$) in terms of biodegradation, Daphnia sp. acute toxicity and surface tension, and thus they were considered applicable as PFOS alternatives. Especially biodegradation rate of $C_{15}F_9H_{21}S_2O_8Na_2$, $C_{23}F_{18}H_{28}S_2O_8Na_2$ and $C_{25}F_{17}H_{32}S_3O_{13}Na_3$ was relatively high as 15.8~21.6%, and Daphnia sp. acute toxicity and surface tension were considerably superior (surface tension 39~55%) to PFOS sodium salt. Therefore, these alternatives are considered to be available as an alternative of PFOS.
