사상인(四象人) 이목비구(耳目鼻口)의 형태학적(形態學的) 특징(特徵) 연구(硏究) (A Morphorlogical Study of Ear, Eye, Nose and Mouth according to the Sasang Constitution)

  • Objective This research is a study about constitutional diagnosis through the external appearances as a basic principle, and it is for finding shape differences of the ear, eye, nose, mouth according to the Sasang constitution Method We have collected 209 cases of patients of the Sasang Constitutional Department, including employees of the Kyung-Hee Medical Center and took pictures of the frontal view, lateral view, oblique view of face and measured heights, deapth, breadths of ear, eye, nose, mouth with 'The Measurement of R. Martin'. We analyzed shape differences of the face according to the Sasang constitution with certain results Results We got the morphologic characteristics of ear, eye, nose and mouth according to the Sasang constitution as Table 3. -Table 10. Conclusion : 1. The morphologic characteristics of Ear according to the Sasang constitution (1) Morphologic ear length, Physiognomic ear length, Ear lobule length is longer in Taeumin than Soeumin. (2) Physiognomic ear breadth is wider in Taeumin than Soeumin. (3) Physiognomic ear length, lobule length ratio is higher in Taeumin than Soyangin. 2. The morphologic characteristics of Eye according to the Sasang constitution. (1) Inner Palpebral fissure width, 5th Palpebral fissure length, Bizygomatic breadth-Outercanthal distance is the longest in Taeumin (2) Palpebral fissure inclination is widest in Soeumin. (3) Palpebral fissure length is longer in Taeumin than Soeumin. (4) Pupillary diameter ratio is the lowest in Taeumin (5) Palpebral fissure length, width ratio is higher in Soeumin than Taeumin. (6)zygomatic breadth, Bizygomatic breadth-Outercanthal distance ratio is the higher in Taeumin than Soeumin. 3. The morphologic characteristics of Nose according to the Sasang constitution. (1) Nasion depth is deepest in Soyangin. (2) Nasion to pupillary depth is deeper Soyangin than Taeumin. (3) Nasal tip depth, Nostril to Nasalalar depth is deeper Soyangin than Taeumin. (4) Subnasale to Nasalalar depth is the shallowest in Taeumin (5) Nasalalar height is lowest in Soeumin. (6) Nasalalar to Nostril distance is deeper Taeumin than Soeumin. (7) Nasal tip depth, Nasal depth ratio is the highest in Taeumin (8) Nasal depth Nasalalar heightratio is lowest in Soeumin. (9) Midfaceheight, Nasal tip depth ratio is higher Soyangin than Taeumin. 4. The morphologic characteristics of mouth according to the Sasang constitution. (1) Lower mid lip height, Lower philtrum height, Lower quarter lip height, Total middle lip height, Total philtrum height, Total quarter lip height is the shottest in Soyangin. (2) Upper mid lip height, Upper philtrum height is longer in Taeumin than Soyangin (3) Lip inclination is higher in Soeumin than Soyangin. (4) Intercheilion breadth, total height ratio is lowest in Soyangin. (5) Total lip height, Upper philtrum height ratio is higher in Soyangin than Soeumin. (6) Lower lip height Lower quarter lip height ratio is higher in Soyangin than Taeumin. (8) Total lip area is wider in Taeumin than Soyangin.

인워적 원시에 따른 망막에서 착란원 크기 (Diameter of the retinal blur circle in a artificial hypermetropia)

  • 인위적 원시상태에서 조절작용이 포함된 가운데 시험렌즈 굴절력 변화에 따라 망막에서 만들어지는 착락원을 조사하였다. 간단한 인위적 원시 모델을 만들어 시험렌즈의 굴절력을 함수로 수정체의 조절력에 따른 상측초점거리를 계산하였으며, 또한 출사동에서 망막사이의 거리를 조절력의 함수로 계산하였다. 이 두 결과를 비교함으로서 망막에서 만들어지는 착란원의 크기를 나타낼 수 있었다.

액침법에 의한 바이오디젤유의 액적분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on Droplet Distribution of Bio Diesel Fuels Using Immersion Sampling Method)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the droplet distribution and Sauter mean diameter(SMD) of biodiesel fuel, using the immersion sampling method. This method involves using an optical microscope and a CCD camera, to take an image of the droplets. These images are then measured by using a 'Sigma Scan' processing program. The results of the above experiment are summarized as followed ; (1) There can be as much as a 10% error rate when measuring the diameter of these droplets, using the image processing method and the naked eye. (2) The result of droplet size distribution test, TVO(transesterified vegetable oil) big size droplet distribution were increased at ambient pressure $6kg/cm^2$. (3) When ambient pressure increased $6kg/cm^2$ above, SMD variation of TVO and UVO(used vegetable oil) 30 are small. (4) On Rosin-Rammler analysis, droplets size distribution of UVO(used vegetable oil) 30 uniform more than TVO 20 on ambient pressure $1kg/cm^2$.

무궁화 종간교잡을 통한 홍단심계 신품종 '대망' 육성 (A New Cultivar 'Daemang' with Long Red Eye Spot and Large Flower by Interspecific Cross of Hibiscus Species)

  • 무궁화 '대망'은 2001년 무궁화속 '서봉'($H.$ $sinosyriacus$ 'Seobong')을 모본으로 하고 우리나라 재래 무궁화 홍단심계 '남원'($H.$ $syriacus$ 'Namwon')을 부본으로 하여 종간교잡한 후 얻은 종자를 파종하여 종간교잡 실생묘를 얻었다. 2003년 개화한 실생묘 계통중 화형과 화색이 특이한 개체 'R-143'를 선발 한 후 2004년부터 2006년까지 3년간 접목 번식 된 개체들의 특성을 조사하여 후대검정을 실시하였으며, 2006년 기존 무궁화 품종에 비해 꽃이 크고 단심의 길이가 길어 'R-143' 계통을 '대망'으로 명명한 후 최종 선발하였다. 잎의 모양이 '대망'은 넓은 난형으로 엽선은 첨두형, 엽저는 심장형으로 대조품종과 달랐으며, 잎 길이와 폭이 각각 9.49cm, 8.72cm으로 크다. 홍단심계 홑꽃으로 화경이 15.2cm, 꽃잎 길이가 8.0cm, 꽃잎 폭은 6.4cm로서 대조품종인 '남원'에 비해 훨씬 크다. 또한 단심이 꽃잎 중간까지 방사선 무늬로 퍼져있으며 단심의 길이가 2.2cm로 길어 일반 재배품종에 비해 꽃이 크고 단심이 특이하다. 2006년에 조사된 개화기는 6월 28일로 대조품종의 7월 13일에 비해 2주 정도 빠른 여름 개화형이고, 10월 16일 개화가 끝이나 총 개화기간이 108일로 대조품종의 73일에 비해 길다.

각막굴절력에 따른 누액층 파괴시간 분포와 연관성 (The Correlation of Tear Break-Up Time according to Corneal Refractive Power)

  • 본 연구에서는 각막굴절력에 따른 누액층 파괴시간(TBUT)의 연관성을 분석하여 콘택트렌즈의 선택 및 착용을 위한 참고자료로 활용하고자 한다. 각막손상 및 안질환이 없는 만 21세부터 27세 이하(평균 $22.87{\pm}1.48$세) 대학생들의 각막곡률반경을 각막곡률계로 측정하였다. 각막굴절력은 곡률반경을 이용하여 계산하였고 TBUT는 각막곡률계의 마이어(mire) 상이 처음으로 왜곡되는 시간으로 측정하였다. 각막굴절력과 TBUT의 관계에서 우안의 경우, 'y=37.921-0.610x'의 관계를 가지며 각막굴절력이 클수록 누액층이 파괴되는 시간이 단축되는 음의 연관성을 나타냈다(r=-0.462, p=0.010). 좌안은 'y=41.894-0.695x'의 관계로서 음의 연관성(r=-0.509, p=0.004)으로 측정되어 좌 우안 모두 각막근시도가 높으면 TBUT는 짧아지는 음의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 결과는 피검자의 각막곡률반경 측정으로 콘택트렌즈 착용여부를 결정하는데 필요한 TBUT의 기본적인 예측이 가능하다.

한국 청년층 눈의 사진 계측학적 연구 (A Photogrammetic Study of the Eyes in Korean Youths)

  • Purpose: Photogrammetry has been introduced as an alternative to direct measurement to obtain facial distances for a variety of anthropometric applications. The aim of this study is to establish morphological and functional value of an eye in Korean youths using specially designed computer software with digital photographic images. Methods: Authors measured anthropometry of an eye in Korean youths 1,449 individuals(622 males, 827 females) and analyzed stastically them. Results: The mean measurements are as follows. The diameter of cornea was $11.6{\pm}0.9mm$ in males and $11.3{\pm}0.9mm$ in females. The vertical dimension of palpebral fissure was $7.4{\pm}1.7mm$ in males and $8.2{\pm}1.6mm$ in females. The intercanthal width was $35.8{\pm}3.2mm$ in males and $34.4{\pm}2.9mm$ in females. The biocular width was $90.4{\pm}5.7mm$ in males and $87.4{\pm}5.3mm$ in females. The endocantion-superior margin of palpebral fissure distance was $12.7{\pm}1.4mm$ in males and $11.6{\pm}1.4mm$ in females. The horizontal dimension of palpebral fissure was $28.5{\pm}2.2mm$ in males and $27.4{\pm}1.9mm$ in females. The slant of palpebral fissure was $10.7{\pm}2.6^{\circ}$ in males and $11.3{\pm}3.0^{\circ}$ in females. The height of upper eyelid was $10.6{\pm}2.3mm$ in males and $10.7{\pm}2.3mm$ in females. The width of double fold was $2.0{\pm}0.7mm$ in males and $1.9{\pm}0.6mm$ in females. A double fold was seen in 21.9% of males and 44.9% of females. The most frequent shape of the double fold was type IV. The most common type of epicanthal fold was type III in both males and females. Conclusion: Photogrammetic measurement of large population using specially designed software could offer reliable data and these data could be useful reference for preoperative consultation, surgical planning and anthropometic study of eye.

Clinical Efficacy and Prognostic Factors of Chemoreduction Combined with Topical Treatment for Advanced Intraocular Retinoblastoma

  • Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy and prognostic factors of chemoreduction combined with topical treatment of advanced intraocular retinoblastoma (RB). Materials and Methods: A total of 22 eyes from 17 children with RB were selected for the study and treated with chemoreduction combined with topical cryotherapy, transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) or episcleral plaque brachytherapy. Clinical and follow-up data were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All children received 2~6 courses of chemoreduction treatment, ($4.5{\pm}0.8$ courses on average); 17 eyes from 13 children were treated by chemoreduction combined with cryotherapy or TTT and 5 eyes from 4 children with chemoreduction combined with $^{125}I$ episcleral plaque brachytherapy. The eye retention rate was 81.8% (18/22), among which 38.9% (7/18) featured restored or maintained good vision. Postoperative follow-up period was 7 to 34 months, ($18.6{\pm}5.2$ months on average). The recurrence rate was 41.2% (7/17), among which 57.1% (4/7) were controlled by supplementing or appending cryotherapy or TTT treatment during the follow-up period. The tumor basal diameter and thickness were significantly reduced (P<0.05 or P<0.01) after treatment. All children demonstrated different degrees of hair loss, 70.6% (12/17) with different degrees of gastrointestinal reactions, 5.88% (1/17) with neutropenia and 11.8% (2/17) being seriously infected during the chemotherapeutic treatment. Univariate and logistic regression analysis showed that tumor basal diameter before treatment had a significant effect on the prognosis (P<0.01). Conclusions: Chemoreduction combined with topical therapy can effectively control RB in the short term, and tumor basal diameter before treatment is an independent risk factor for prognosis.

한국산 Hoplichthyidae과 어류 1 미기록종 Hoplichthys langsdorfii (First Record of Ghost Flatheads, Hoplichthys langsdorfii, from Korea)

  • 1993년 2월 부산에서 채집된 Hoplichthyidae과 어류 18개체(체장 133.0-167.0mm)를 조사해 본 결과 지금까지 우리나라에서는 알려지지 않은 Hoplichthys langsdorfii Cuvier et Valenciennes로 동정되었는데 본 종은 우리나라에서는 아직까지 분류학적으로 미기록과, 미기록속에 해당되었다. 본 종은 두부와 가슴 부분이 매우 종편되어 있으며 외부 형태적으로는 H. gilberti와 아주 흡사 하나 H. gilberti와는 달리 체측 scute 위에 2줄의 가시 돌기가 나 있고 문장이 안경 보다 길다는 점에서 잘 구별되어 이들의 특징을 기재하면서, 본종을 한국명으로는 "가시양태과(科), 가시양태속(屬), 가시양태"로 명명한다.

Optical-effect Analysis of Nanoscale Collagen Fibers

  • To understand the cause of the high light transmittance of the human eye, the optical effects of the collagen fibers of the stroma layer, which constitute the majority of the cornea, were analyzed. These collagen fibers, approximately 20 nm in diameter, have a regular arrangement. Accordingly, the optical properties of the collagen fibers and the fiber layer were analyzed by simulation. A standing wave was formed in the incident space by the overlapping incident light and the light reflected by the plate. In addition, it was confirmed that when the collagen fibers are arranged in a layer, the light transmittance periodically changes, depending on the number of fiber layers. The standing wave was formed in the incident space, and the light's intensity distribution was changed by the nanoscale collagen fibers in the section with the collagen layer, which affected the transmittance. To explain this phenomenon, the collagen fiber was defined as a second light source, and an attempt was made to describe the simulation results in terms of overlap of the incident light with the light emitted from the collagen fiber.

Design of Diffraction Limited Head Mounted Display Optical System Based on High Efficiency Diffractive Elements

  • A diffraction limited optical system for head mounted displays (HMDs) was designed. This optical system consists of four modules, including 1:5 mm and 5:30 mm beam expanders, polarization grating-polarization conversion system (PG-PCS) and refractive/diffractive projection optical module. The PG-PCS module transforms the unpolarized Gaussian beam to a linearly polarized beam and it simultaneously homogenizes the spatial intensity profile. The optical projector module has a $30^{\circ}$ field of view, a 22 mm eye relief, and a 10 mm exit pupil diameter with a compact structure. Common acrylic materials were utilized in the optical design process; therefore, the final optical system was lightweight. The whole optical system is suitable for a 0.7 inch liquid crystal on silicon microdisplay (LCOS) with HDTV resolution ($1920{\times}1080$) and $8.0{\mu}m$ pixel pitch.
