We have examined the runoff characteristics of nonpoint source (NPS) in fields. Two monitoring sites were equipped with an automatic velocity meter and water sampler. Monitoring was conducted at fields 1 and field 2 during the rainfall event. Ten rainfall-runoff events were monitored and analyzed during the study period. The results show that runoff occurred if daily rainfall and intensity were higher than 40 mm and 1.6 mm/hr except a few extreme rainfall events with very high intensity. Runoff of field 1 was approximately twice of that of field 2. Event mean concentrations (EMC) and pollution load of analyzed water quality indices were also higher in field 2 than in field 1. Especially, TN load from field 2 was $75.4 mg/m^2$ and was about 5 times higher than that from field 1. Analysis of Pearson correlation coefficient of water quality parameter indicates that besides of TN all items in fields 1 have tight relationship respectively (p < 0.01). But those of fields 2 have a significant (p < 0.05). Estimating units loading of NPS, we suggested that variable such as soil texture, rainfall amount and intensity and slope were needed to be considered from agricultural landuses. The results of this study can be used as a basic data in the development and implementation of total maximum daily loads (TMDL) in Korea.

A fighter performing a reconnaissance mission is equipped with a pod that drives optical/infrared sensors for acquiring and identifying target information on the lower part of the fuselage. Due to the nature of the reconnaissance mission, the fighter performs high speed evasive maneuvers, and the resulting load should be considered importantly for the development of the pod. This paper concerns a numerical investigation into the inertial and aerodynamic loads of the airborne pod of high performance aircrafts. For the aerodynamic load analysis, the pylon and pod shapes are added to the fighter 3D model, and the commercial software was used for static and dynamic analysis. Considering the practical mission conditions, the common/extreme conditions were established respectively in the static and dynamic situations of pods and the driving torque could be tripled under dynamic conditions. In the analysis of inertia load, a 3-DOF model considering roll and turning maneuvers was derived by the Lagrangian method, and then the numerical integration method was applied to the analysis. As a results, it was conformed that the inertia load was generally induced at a low level compared to the aerodynamic load, but depending on the unbalance mass condition of the pod, the inertia load cannot be negligible.
It is still inadequate for investigating the highly nonlinear and complex mechanical behaviors of single-layer latticed domes by only performing a force-based demand-capacity analysis. The energy-based balance method has been largely accepted for assessing the seismic performance of a structure in recent years. The various factors, such as span-to-rise ratio, joint rigidity and damping model, have a remarkable effect on the load-carrying capacity of a single-layer latticed dome. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the maximum load-carrying capacity of a dome under extreme loading conditions. In this paper, a mechanical model for members of the semi-rigidly jointed single-layer latticed domes, which combines fiber section model with semi-rigid connections, is proposed. The static load-carrying capacity and seismic performance on the single-layer latticed domes are evaluated by means of the mechanical model. In these analyses, different geometric parameters, joint rigidities and roof loads are discussed. The buckling behaviors of members and damage distribution of the structure are presented in detail. The sensitivity of dynamic demand parameters of the structures subjected to strong earthquakes to the damping is analyzed. The results are helpful to have a better understanding of the seismic performance of the single-layer latticed domes.
Offshore wind turbines are divided into an upper wind turbine and a lower support structure. Offshore wind turbine system is required to secure high reliability for a variety of external environmental conditions compared to ground wind turbines because of additional periodic loads due to ocean wave and current effects. In this study, extreme load analyses have been conducted for the designed offshore wind turbine foundation with weight control functionality using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) then structural analyses have been also conducted to investigate the structural design requirement.

Reliability analysis of tripod support structure for offshore wind turbine was performed. Extreme distribution function of peak response due to wind and wave loads was estimated by applying peak over threshold(POT) method. Then, stress based limit state function was defined by using maximum stress of support structure which was obtained by multiplying beam stress and concentration factor. The reliability analysis result was compared when maximum stress was calculated from shell element. Reliability index was evaluated using first order reliability method(FORM).

In this paper, we consider the Ring Loading Problem with integer demand splitting (RLP). The problem is given with a ring network, in which a required traffic requirement between each selected node pair must be routed on it. Each traffic requirement can be routed in both directions on the ring network while splitting each traffic requirement in two directions only by integer is allowed. The problem is to find an optimal routing of each traffic requirement which minimizes the capacity requirement. Here, the capacity requirement is defined as the maximum of traffic loads imposed on each link on the network. We formulate the problem as an integer program. By characterizing every extreme point solution to the LP relaxation of the formulation, we show that the optimal objective value of the LP relaxation is equal to p or p+0.5, where p is a nonnegative integer. We also show that the difference between the optimal objective value of RLP and that of the LP relaxation is at most 1. Therefore, we can verify that the optimal objective value of RLP is p+1 if that of the LP relaxation is p+0.5. On the other hand, we present a strengthened LP with size polynomially bounded by the input size, which provides enough information to determine if the optimal objective value of RLP is p or p+1.
This paper is concerned with the accurate estimation of the thermal mass effect on the variation of indoor temperature for residential buildings. To carry out the analysis here, the method called "PSTAR(Primary and Secondary Terms Analysis and Renormalization)" has been extensively used. This method was originally developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL) in the United States. The test results reported here represent two extreme cases of the interior thermal mass, which demonstrate its effect on the interior thermal environment as well as on the overall thermal behavior of the building structure. The monthly heating and cooling loads are also extrapolated by using the renormalized model, which are crucial in designing and refurbishing HVAC systems for the building.

In this paper, the research results for the improvement of tracking performance of a hydraulic shaking table are presented. A servo-hydraulic shaking table is not only highly nonlinear but also has a lot of time delay. In addition, the shaking table, which consists of multi axial hydraulic actuators, is a MIMO system coupled by kinematics and dynamics of each other's actuators. And it is demanded for the shaking table to track arbitrary trajectories up to high frequency even at the extreme situations such as substantial external loads and large disturbances. For this purpose, an iterative feed-forward control based on the inverse of a measured frequency response function is used for the shaking table. To solve the dynamic coupling, a pressure feedback control as numerical damping is used. It is shown through numerical simulations that the tracking performance of shaking table is improved up to 100Hz.

Structural analyses of a turbine bladed-disk for a liquid rocket turbopump are peformed to investigate the safety level of strength and vibration at design point. Due to the high rotational speed of the turbopump, effects of centrifugal forces are carefully considered in the structural analysis. Thermal load caused by extreme temperature distribution is also considered as an external force applied to turbine bladed-disk. A three dimensional finite element method (FEM) is used for cyclic symmetry structural analyses with the MSC/NASTRAN DMAP Alter. Interblade phase angles are considered to investigate structural dynamic characteristics as a function of rotational speed. Through the numerical analysis, effects of centrifugal and thermal loads on the turbine bladed-disk are examined.
Offshore wind power(OWP) is one of the most promising renewable energy and gives higher output than onland one due to stronger and consistent wind in offshore. it offsets shortcoming of noise, spatial limit and less affects scenery, and can be built in larger size. Korea has plenty of offshore wind resources as it is surrounded by the sea in three directions. This review describes recent progress in offshore wind turbine and substructure technology. Market trend in local and overseas, Number of papers published and patents registered are analysed.
