CNIDII RHIZOMA(川芎) is in mostly general use for migraine, in that order LEDEBOURIELLAE RADIX(防風) ANGELICAE DAHURICAE RADIX(白芷) ASARI HERBA CUM RADICE(細辛) NOTOPTERYGII RHIZOMA(羌活) GLYCYRRHIZAE RADIX(甘草) CHRYSANTHEMI FLOS(菊花) BUPLEURI RADIX(柴胡) SCUTELLARIAE RADIX(黃芩) ANGELICAE GIGANTIS RADIX(當歸) GYPSUM FIBROSUM(石膏) MENTHAE HERBA(薄荷) GLYCYRRHIZAE RADIX(炙甘草) VITICIS FRUCTUS(蔓荊子), nature is in mostly general hot warm(辛溫), bitter cold(苦寒), guikuong(歸經) is in mostly general liver gall kuong(肝膽經), efficacy is in mostly general to remove wind pain (祛風止痛) and to down fire(瀉火).
Objectives : In present, various definitions of Zhongshu are being used interchangeably in Korea. The paper attempted to discover the disease of Zhongshu as studied by Lidongyuan, who was ahead of his time. Methods : A database of medical books has been studied to find Lidongyuan's writings on the disease of Zhongshu, and mentions about Li's works in past medical books. The paper contemplated the subject by defining the disease of Zhongshu and reviewing the disputes related to the subject. Results & Conclusions : Lidongyuan gave a detailed explanation on the fact that Zhangjiegu distinguished between Zhongshu and Zhongre, and this was influenced by Shangshu as mentioned in Taipinghuiminhejijufang. Therefore, it can be deduced that he was aware of the fact that summerheat-heat as latent summer heat syndrome is lurking inside the body, not being able to be released. According to the disease of Zhongshu by Lidongyuan, yin cold was receieved secondary after first receiving summerheat-heat. It is either summerheat damaged defensive qi, failure in storing the essence made defensive qi weak, or seasonal reasons have caused the defensive qi to be drained and leave the body exposed to damage by summerheat. This is because the fundamental main cause is the hitting of summerheat, since yin cold was received after the presence of summerheat-heat is made first. Many doctors in the following generation criticized that Lidongyuan's disease of Zhongshu cannot be named as a Zhongshu due to its similarity with Shanghan. However, they cannot be viewed as similar since it is a phenomenon where yin cold becomes congested while the body is weak and heat is generated in the body due to summerheat-heat. The doctors who said they were similar only focused on the external cause that was only the superficial issue. According to Lidongyuan's method, the right way to treat a Zhongshu disease is to use the method of tonifying the qi and eliminating the heat in conjunction with eliminating the internal dampness or treat the external syndrome, or to use a formula to tonify the qi and eliminate the fire heat before eliminating the internal dampness or treating the external syndrome.
Metabolomics is the study which detects the changes of metabolites level. Metabolomics is a terminal view of the biological system. The end products of the metabolism, metabolites, reflect the responses to external environment. Therefore metabolomics gives the additional information about understanding the metabolic pathways. These metabolites can be used as biomarkers that indicate the disease or external stresses such as exposure to toxicant. Many kinds of biological samples are used in metabolomics, for example, cell, tissue, and bio fluids. NMR spectroscopy is one of the tools of metabolomics. NMR data are analyzed by multivariate statistical analysis and target profiling technique. Recently, NMR-based metabolomics is a growing field in various studies such as disease diagnosis, forensic science, and toxicity assessment.
The dream is a well-known experience in the routine life. It is necessary to consider the dream to modality of diagnosis because many evidences that the dream represents the physiologic and pathologic changes in the human have been proved in recent days. The oneironosus(病夢) was caused by three factors, which are the external stresses of the body, malfunction of Jang-Bu(臟腑) and irregular of Yin-Yang(陰陽) and Gi-blood(氣血). The oneironosus(病夢) reflects the location, characteristics, progression and prognosis of the disease. In addition, it predicts the development of disease. The principle of treatment for the oneironosus(病夢) is making an effort for the stabilization of mind by eradicating the internal and external factors that make the spirit(神) been unstable.
The outbreak patterns of the internal and external and external patients in the 20 designated hospitals and in 16 health centers were monitored to investigate and the characteristics of the virus isolates were as follows. Two hundreds and thirteen strains of influenza virus were isolated from the oral specimens of 1,686 patients with respiratory disease in Pusan. 1999. Among these isolates, 203 strains were A-type and the rest were B-type. The outbreak patterns for sex and age group were as follows. The male outbreak was similar to the female outbreak: male outbreak, 45.5% and female outbreak, 54.5%. Most of the patients were less than 10 days old. The monthly influenza outbreak was consistent from Jan. to Dec in 1999. The 96 strains from the A-type isolates were A/Sydney/05/97(H3N2)-like, the 107 strains were A/Beijing/262/95(H1N)-like, and all of the 10 B-type isolates were B/Harbin/07/94-like.

And Allii Fistulosi Bulbus(葱白) is used as not only medicine for internal use but also medicine for external use. The method of Wibub(慰法) with Allii Fistulosi Bulbus(葱白) for woman's diseases is to stupe a lower abdomen. Allium Fistulosum Linne(葱) is used in women's breast disease as medicine for internal use and medicine for external use. Conclusions: Allii Fistulosi Bulbus(葱白) is able to be used in disease about pregnancy and childbirth. so I consider that it is necessary to study methods which improve practical use of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus(葱白).
Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a chronic disease of the skin marked by groups of watery, itch blisters. It is characterized by urticarial plaques and blisters on the elbows, buttocks, and knees, although other sites may also be involved. The ingestion of gluten (the proteins gliadin and prolamin contained in wheat, rye, oats, and barley) triggers an immune system reponse that deposits a substance, IgA (immonuglobin A), under the top layer of skin. IgA is present in affected as well as unaffected skin. DH is a hereditary autoimmune disease linked with celiac disease. Treatment for DH is twofold. (1) Remove the cause: gluten. (2) Suppress the skin response with drugs such as Dapsone or some other sulphones. The latter is the most common treatment used as it is rapidly relieves the itch. However there are some side effects associated with these medications and they need to be taken under medical monitoring with blood tests to detect side effects. Recently, we experienced a DH and that was successfully treated by the herbal medication and external therapy. The medications taken by the patient were yongdamsagantanggami and external therapy were gosam and gumunhwa. So we report this case with a bief review of the oriental medical and medical literatures.
Objective : Malaria(瘧疾) is a disease that's main symptom is paroxysm - a cyclical occurrence of sudden coldness followed by rigor and then fever. Since the introduction of the cause and mechanism of malaria(瘧疾) in the "Suwen(素問)", including Cold malaria(寒瘧), Warm malaria(溫瘧), Heat malaria(癉瘧) and Wind malaria(風瘧), there has been over 20 different kinds of malaria, each of which are introduced in multiple medical texts. Method : Through comparison between "Suwen(素問)" and other medical texts, the categories, causes and mechanisms of malaria can be analysed and organized to overview the whole feature of it. Results & Conclusion : External pathogens of malaria(瘧疾) are wind(風), cold(寒), summerheat (暑), dampness(濕), miasmic toxin(瘴), pestilence(疫), ghost(鬼). Internal pathogens of malaria(瘧疾) are dietary irregularities(飮食不節), overexertion and fatigue(勞倦), phlegm(痰), seven emotion(七情). Malaria can be categorized into four groups according to the pathological mechanism that leads to paroxysm. They are latency of disease(伏氣), external contraction(外感), internal damage(內傷), and combination of disease(合病). Malaria-Paroxysm(瘧疾發作) occurs when the three following factors collide strongly : defense qi(衛氣), latent qi(伏邪) and external pathogen(新邪). When collision of the three factors takes place in the interior(裏), the body experiences chills. When it takes place in the exterior(表), the body experiences fever. The cyclical occurrence of Malaria-Paroxysm follows the circulation of defense qi.
Objectives: To examine the regional mortality differences in The Republic of Korea according to geographic location. Methods: All 232 administrative districts of the Republic of Korea in 1998 were studied according to their geographic locations by dividing each district into three categories; "metropolis," "urban," and "rural". Crude mortality rates for doth sexes from total deaths as well as the three major causes of death in Korea (cardiovascular disease, cancer, and external causes) were calculated with raw data from the "1998 report on the causes of death statistics" and resident registration data. Standardized mortality ratios (SMR) were calculated using the indirect standardization method. Poisson regression analyses were performed to examine the effects of geographic locations on the risk of death. To correct for the socioeconomic differences of each region, the percentage of old ($\geq$ 65 years old) population, the number of privately owned cars per 100 population, and per capita manufacturing production industries were included in the model. Results: Most SMRs were the lowest in the metropolis and the highest in the rural areas. These differences were more prominent in men and in deaths from external causes. In deaths from cancer in women, the rural region showed the lowest SMR. In Poisson regression analysis after correcting for regional socioeconomic differences, the risk of death from all causes significantly increased in both urban (OR=1.111) and rural (OR=1.100) regions, except for rural women, compared to the metropolis region. In men, the rural region showed higher risk (OR=1.180) than the urban region (OR=1.l51). For cardiovascular disease and cancer, significant differences were not found between geographic locations, except in urban women for cardiovascular disease (OR=1.151) and in rural women for cancer (OR=0.887), compared to metropolis women. In deaths from external causes, the risk ratios significantly increased in both urban and rural regions and an increasing tendency from the metropolis to the rural region was clearly observed in both sexes. Conclusions: Regional mortality differences according to geographic location exist in The Republic of Korea and further research and policy approaches to reduce these differences are needed. to reduce these differences are needed.
