  • A fretting wear tester is developed for experimental study on the fuel fretting problem of light water reactor. The feature of the developed tester is it can simulate the existence of gap between spring and fuel rod as well as different contacting force including the just-contact condition (0 N on the contact). Used are a servo-motor, an eccentric cylinder and lever mechanism for driving system. A spacer grid cell is constituted with four strap segments (each segment has a spring). This fretting wear tester can also be used as a fatigue tester of a spacer grid spring with the frequency of more than 10 Hz. It is required to simulate the frequency of the vibrating fuel rod due to flow-induced vibration in a reactor. In fretting wear test, up to two span-length of a fuel cladding tube can be accommodated. A specimen of cladding tube of one span-length is specially designed, which can be extended for two-span test. For .fatigue test, a device for clamping the spring fixture is installed additionally, Presently, the tester is designed for the condition of air environment and room temperature. The variation of the reciprocal distance is measured to check the stability of input force, which will be exerted to the cladding (for fretting wear. test) and the spring (for fatigue test) specimen.

내마모성이 향상된 기능성 표면구조를 갖는 인공관절에 관한 기초적인 연구 (A Basic Study on Functional Friction Surface of Artificial Joints)

  • At present. about 0.3 million and more THRs (Total Hip Replacement) in a rear are being done worldwide. The increase in mechanical failure with the increase in THR, required more revisions. Revisions compensate mainly the wear of the artificial joint frictional surface and the loosening of the cup and stem. According to recent researches, loosening is mainly due to wear debris UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) from frictional surfaces . To overcome the wear problems associated with artificial joint materials , new surface structures with regular Patterns were designed and fabricated The lubrication Properties were examined to evaluate the wear of the frictional surfaces. The surface structure manifested a Pattern of "dents" with a 0.2-1.0 mm of diameter and 0.6-2.0 mm of Pitch. From the friction test of the SUS316L vs UHMWPE using the frictional tester, we found that the lubrication Performance was improved due to of drastically reduced amount of abrasion. There were optimum sizes for the diameter and the pitch of the Pattern. The results demonstrated that the lubrication properties could be improved by Patterning of the frictional surfaces. The surface Patterning was effective in preventing wear of the frictional surfaces, and the life of an artificial joint could be extended with such Patterning.

  • This paper presents a wear analysis procedure for the journal bearings on a stripped-down single-cylinder engine during start-up and coast-down by motoring. A journal bearing is in the mixed elastohydrodynamic (EHL) lubrication region when the shaft speed is less than the corresponding lift-off speed. Below the lift-off speed, a wear scar can form on bearing surfaces. In part 1 of this paper, we develop the appropriate formulations and the calculation procedure for the analysis. Specifically, we formulate an equation for modified film thickness in a journal bearing considering the additional wear volume. In order to obtain the modified specific wear rate induced by the modified Archard’s wear coefficient, we utilized the extended non-dimensional diagram for the specific wear rate, k, the fractional film defect coefficient, Ψ and the asperity load sharing factor, γ2. This asperity load sharing factor is newly calculated by setting the Zhao-Maietta-Chang (ZMC) asperity contact pressure equation coupled with the central film thickness equation derived by using the ZMC asperity contact model equal to the modified central contact pressure derived by using the central (or maximum) contact pressure at the dry rough line-contact configuration. We can use the procedure introduced in this paper to determine the lifetime (or longterm) linear wear in radial journal bearings that is a result of repeated stop-start cycles.

애견의상 디자인 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Pets Wear Design)

  • Nowadays, the family system has changed from a large extended family group to a more nuclear family and the number of people who live by themselves has been increasing. Moreover, Korea is becoming an aged society, and pets are becoming more important as leave the family home. So a lot of people in Korea now consider pets as their family members due largely to the drastic change of their life style. Therefore, the rate of importing commodities for pets like cats and dogs has been increasing dramatically. In this study, in response to the growing interest in the pet industry, I have studied recent trends and types in the pets wear markets which are still in the first stage of development in Korea. In order to enhance the possibility of mass producing pets ready-made clothes for making the unit cost lower, firstly, I presented a new basic design and pattern of pets wear made up of general textile. After that, following basic purpose of pet wear, I classified decorative clothes into party wear, everyday wear and street wear and then I developed the pattern and made a pair of works for each item totaling 6 in all. I hope that the number of Korean companies which can enhance their reputation through by marketing these products in Korean as well as all around the world will increase. I believe this will be possible because by taking advantage of the easy pattern developed in this thesis. They will be able to mass produce their own high quality pets wear brand.

ANTIWEAR FILM FORMATION BY COMPONENTS OF PASSENGER CAR MOTOR OILS

  • Engine testing of new low-sulfur, low-phosphorus anti wear components is expensive and time consuming so bench testing of potential candidates is highly desirable as a first step evaluation. Electrical contact resistance (ECR) has been shown to be a convenient method to assess antiwear film formation in a ball-on-flat bench wear test. Correlation of the bench test to fired engines was demonstrated for lubricants varying only in the type of detergent. Previous papers have examined film formation by one and two component formulations of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZnDTP) and detergents. In this study, the ECR technique is systematically extended to formulations including ZnDTP, detergent, and dispersant. Both type and level of components are considered and the implications for engine performance are discussed.

  • This paper presents a result of simulation and improvement of grinding process for linear motion guide blocks. A simulation software, which is based on cylindrical grinding process. is used to predict the grinding wheel wear during the grinding process. To validate the simulation, the simulation result is compared with the experimental one. Simulation study is extended to obtain an optimal grinding condition for minimizing the grinding wheel wear. The optimal condition is validated through an experiment.

소프트콘택트렌즈의 단백질 부착 양상 및 가시광선투과도와 접촉각에 미치는 영향 (The adsorption pattern of protein to the soft contact lens and its effect on the visible light transmission and the contact angle)

  • 소프트콘택트렌즈의 단백질 부착은 미생물에 의한 감염을 증가시킬 뿐만 아니라 이물감이나 흐릿한 시야를 비롯한 착용감의 저하 등과 같은 많은 부작용을 유발할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 20대 20명(40안)이 착용한 소프트콘택트렌즈에의 단백질 부착 양상을 착용시간별로 조사하고, 렌즈의 접촉각과 총 가시광선 투과도에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 또한 각막의 용도 및 pH 변화가 단백질의 부착에 미치는 영향에 대하여서도 연구하였다. Etafilcon A 재질의 2주착용 소프트콘택트렌즈는 다목적용액으로 매일 관리를 하였음에도 불구하고 렌즈에 단백질이 남아있었으며 착용이 계속됨에 따라 정점 부착되는 단백질의 양도 증가하여 착용 후 14일이 지난 렌즈의 경우는 이미 렌즈의 접촉각이 통계적으로 유의성있게 크게 증가하여 렌즈 표면의 습윤성에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 총 가시광선 투과량도 7% 정도 감소하였음을 확인하였다. 또한 소프트콘택트렌즈에서 단백질의 부착은 누액의 온도가 증가할수록 많아졌으며 누액의 pH가 중성인 경우 단백질의 부착양이 가장 적었으며 산성이나 알칼리성으로 갈수록 부착되는 단백질의 양이 증가하였다. 연속착용렌즈 착용시에는 눈을 뜨고 있는 활동시간보다 눈을 감고 있는 수면 중에 렌즈에 부착되는 단백질의 양이 크게 증가하였으며 이러한 결과는 성별과 관계없이 동일하였다. 연속착용렌즈를 8시간동안 착용하였을 때 렌즈에 부착된 단백질의 양은 렌즈 표면의 접촉각과 총 가시광선 투과도에 큰 변화를 주지는 않았다.

  • This paper presents an in-process measurement system for shaft radius measurement during grinding process. This system does not require to stop the grinding process, which can enhance productivity and quality. In order to measure the radius, the system employs an eddy current sensor that can measure without any contact with the shaft. This type of sensor is very appropriate because it is insensitive to interference such as cutting fluid, coolant, contact pressure, and wear. For data analysis, the measurement system is modeled as a linearized discrete form where the states with noise are estimated by an extended Kalman filter. This system has been validated through simulations and experiments.

인덕턴스 측정에 의한 윤활유 내 자성입자 정량적 평가 (Monitoring Inductance Change to Quantitatively Analyze Magnetic Wear Debris in Lubricating Oil)

  • Wear debris in lubricating oil can be indicative of potential damage to mechanical parts in rotating and reciprocating machinery. Therefore, on-line or in-line monitoring of lubricating components in machinery is of great importance. This work presents a device based on inductive measurement of lubricating oil to detect magnetic wear particles in a tested volume. The circuit in the device consists of Maxwell Bridge and LVDT to measure inductance differences between pure and contaminated oil. The device detects the passage of ferrous particles by monitoring inductance change in a coil. The sensing principle is initially demonstrated at the microscale using a solenoid. The device is then tested using iron particles ranging from $50{\mu}m$ to $100{\mu}m$, which are often found in severely worn mechanical components. The test results show that the device is capable of detecting and distinguishing ferrous particles in lubricating oil. The design concept demonstrated here can be extended to an in-line monitoring device for real-time monitoring of ferrous debris particles. A simulation using the CST code is performed to better understand the inductive response in the presence of magnetic bodies in the oil. The CST simulation further verifies the effectiveness of inductance measurement for monitoring magnetic particles within a tube.

Pure Vision Contact Lens 착용자에 대안 임상 적용 연구 (A study to determine the ability to clinically adapt for wearers of the Pure Vision contact lens)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 Pure Vision 콘택트렌즈를 착용하여 착용자의 적응력을 조사하였다. 방법에서 피검자는 78명의 대학생들로 이들의 타각과 자각적 방법에 의해서 분석하였다. 매일 착용 또는 연속착용 동안 임상 적용에 대한 상대적인 결과들은 일주일 기간이 지난 후 분석을 하였다. 결과는 다름과 같다. 1. 시기능의 상태는 우수함 62.3%, 적당함 27.2%, 좋지 못함 10.6%이었다. 2. 부작용은 없음이 76.12%, 약간의 자극감이 18.21%, 그리고 심한 경험은 6.5%이었다. 3. 렌즈의 취급은 쉬움이 97.44%, 어려움이 2.56%이었다. 4. Pure Vision 렌즈의 특성에 대한 이해는 50.64%가 잘 이해를 잘하고 있었다. 결론적으로 대부분의 Pure Vision 콘택트렌즈 착용자들은 타각과 자각적으로 좋은 임상 반응을 가졌으나 약 절반정도는 렌즈의 특성을 충분히 이해하지는 못하였다.
