  • In korea, Freight generation models developed in korea were estimated by spatial unit method which predict freight flow by traffic zone. But it is difficult to predict freight generation using these models, because there are the difference of the totality method of sampling data on freight volume and the variability of the variables by these models on each case study, This study developed new estimation model to predict freight flow which is generated from each company using the characteristics of each company such as the freight outbound & inbound volume, the number of employee, sales, gross area, land area. This model is simpler than the that of spatial unit and can apply to the other region. The subjects of study were companies in metropolitan area and types of model were exponential regression models. The adequate explanatory variable in the models were sales. this study have a uniqueness apply micro research method to estimate freight generation not use spatial unit method but use flow unit method by each company unit.

  • This study aims to analyze the qualitative and quantitative effects of environmental policies in terms of green space management using logistic regression model(LRM). Landsat satellite imageries in 1985, 1992, 2000, 2008, and 2015 are classified using a hybrid-classification method. Based on these classified maps, logistic regression model having a deforestation tendency of the past is built. Binary green space change map is used for the dependent variable and four explanatory variables are used: distance from green space, distance from settlements, elevation, and slope. The green space map of 2008 and 2015 is predicted using the constructed model. The conservation effect of Ulsan's environmental policies is quantified through the numerical comparison of green area between the predicted and real data. Time-series analysis of green space showed that restoration and destruction of green space are highly related to human activities rather than natural land transition. The effect of green space management policy was spatially-explicit and brought a significant increase in green space. Furthermore, as a result of quantitative analysis, Ulsan's environmental policy had effects of conserving and restoring 111.75㎢ and 175.45㎢ respectively for the periods of eight and fifteen years. Among four variables, slope was the most determinant factor that accounts for the destruction of green space in the city. This study presents logistic regression model as a way of evaluating the effect of environmental policies that have been practiced in the city. It has its significance in that it allows us a comprehensive understanding of the effect by considering every direct and indirect effect from other domains, such as air and water, on green space. We conclude discussing practicability of implementing environmental policy in terms of green space management with the focus on a non-statutory plan.

  • Evaluation model for damage consciousness was established through the survey of 2,210 residents' consciousness on aircraft noise near Taegu Airport. There were none who replied that the level of the aircraft noise was as los as it was quiet. 77(3.5%) people replied the noise was normal, and 2,133(95.5%) people said it was noisy. As to the period of time when the aircraft noise occurred, 51%, 97%, 86%, 0.6% of the residents pointed out the morning time, the day time, the evening time, and the night time, respectively. Because of aircraft noise, 73%, 88%, 70%, 77%, 78%, and 33% of the residents felt it disturbing indoor conversation, telephoning, watching TV or listening to the ratio, reading or meditating, working, sleeping, and studying, respectively. It was examined that the bad effects of aircraft noise on the health were severe : 43% of the resident said they experienced embarrassment. 52% astonishment, 66% absence of mind, 61% heart-beating. 77% headaches, 78% earache, and 93% displeasure. For the survey of the residents' damage consciousness about aircraft noise, the level of aircraft noise was set as an objective variable, and gender, age, occupation. Education, the type of house, the structure of windows, the consciousness of settlement in the district, and the period of residence were set as explanatory variables. And the quantification theory I was applied to the analysis. The most influencing factor of the damage consciousness on aircraft noise was the education, the second occupation, the third age, the forth the consciousness of settlement, the fifth the period of residence, the sixth gender, the seventh the type of house, and the least influencing factor among them was the structure of windows. These findings will be a useful guideline when the government seeks to set up policies which will help solve the resident's noise problems near Taegu Airport.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of exposure to endocrine disruptors, burnout, and social support from peers on premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in nurses. Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted among 122 nurses under the age of 49 working at a university hospital. The participants answered self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression in IBM SPSS version 23.0. Results: The mean age of the nurses was 28.9 years. Of these nurses, 49.2% were working in a general ward, 24.6% in the intensive care unit, 14.8% in the emergency room, and 11.4% in an outpatient department. The explanatory power of the model was 38.3%, and it was statistically significant (F=11.74, p≤.001). Exposure to endocrine disruptors (β=0.32, p<.001) was the most powerful variable affecting PMS, followed by burnout (β=0.27, p=.001), working in the intensive care unit or emergency room (β=0.22, p=.003), family history of PMS (β=0.19, p=.009), and support from coworkers (β=-0.15, p=.043). Conclusion: Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop an intervention program to reduce the symptoms of PMS. Additionally, further studies are needed to develop and evaluate measures to minimize exposure to endocrine disruptors and burnout in order to alleviate PMS among nurses.

  • This study utilizes FGLS (Feasible Generalized Least Squares) to determine the impact of Jeju Olle trekking courses on nearby land prices. Official 2010 land price data for 7 areas surrounding different Jeju Olle Trails was examined with a GIS program to determine the exact distance of land parcels from nearby trekking courses. Distance and various other pricing factors were used as explanatory variables for increases in land prices. The dependent variable was the rate of change in land prices from 2002 to 2010. Unlike existing studies which have examined the effect of highways, subways and other transportation facilities on land prices, this paper examines the effect of Korea's first-ever trekking courses on nearby land prices. This study concludes that 7 different Olle Trails exert a significant influence on nearby land prices and that land prices decrease by 0.03% per meter as plots get further and further from Olle Trails. This result shows that not only transport infrastructure (highways, subways, etc.) but also non-traffic infrastructure such as Jeju Olle Trails and trekking courses can have positive effects on local real estate markets.

  • Objectives: This study explored changes in individuals' behavior in response to social distancing (SD) levels and the "no gatherings of more than 5 people" (NGM5) rule in Korea during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: Using survey data from the COVID-19 Behavior Tracker, exploratory factor analysis extracted 3 preventive factors: maintenance of personal hygiene, avoiding going out, and avoiding meeting people. Each factor was used as a dependent variable. The chisquare test was used to compare differences in distributions between categorical variables, while binary logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with high compliance with measures to prevent transmission. Results: In men, all 3 factors were significantly associated with lower compliance. Younger age groups were associated with lower compliance with maintenance of personal hygiene and avoiding meeting people. Employment status was significantly associated with avoiding going out and avoiding meeting people. Residence in the capital area was significantly associated with higher compliance with personal hygiene and avoiding venturing out. Increasing SD levels were associated with personal hygiene, avoiding going out, and avoiding meeting people. The NGM5 policy was not significantly associated with compliance. Conclusions: SD levels, gender, age, employment status, and region had explanatory power for compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs). Strengthening social campaigns to inspire voluntary compliance with NPIs, especially focused on men, younger people, full-time workers, and residents of the capital area is recommended. Simultaneously, efforts need to be made to segment SD measures into substrategies with detailed guidance at each level.

  • In the four-step demand model, a gravity mode is used most commonly at the trip distribution stage. The purpose of this study was to develop a new friction factor that can express the accessibility property as a single friction factor to compensate for the variable limits of the gravity model parameters (travel time, travel cost). To derive a new friction factor, a new friction factor was derived using the space syntax that can quantify the characteristics of the urban space structure, deriving the link-unit integration degree and then using the travel time and travel distance relationship. Calibration of the derived friction factor resulted in a similar level to that of the existing friction factor. As a result of verifying the various indicators, the explanatory power was found to be excellent in the short - and long - distance range. Therefore, it is possible to derive and apply the new friction factor using the integration index, which can complement the accessibility beyond the limit of the existing shortest distance, and it is believed to be more advantageous in future utilization.

  • Purpose: As an interest in the elderly medical expenses increases, elderly people are increasingly purchasing indemnity private health insurance. Authors tried to investigate factors of having the indemnity private health insurance among the elderly people aged 65-75 years. Methods: We conducted panel logit regression analysis on 2,465 subjects as of 2016 using Korean Health Panel from 2010 to 2016. The dependent variable was whether to enroll in the indemnity private health insurance. The explanatory variables included socio-demographic characteristics, economic factors, health status, and health behaviors. Findings: As a result of the analysis of factors of purchasing indemnity private health insurances, it was analyzed that people with larger family, educated, pensioner, high household income or no disability were more likely to have indemnity private health insurance. Practical Implications: Considering the results of this study, the factor of purchasing indemnity private health insurance among elderly people were more likely to be their economic than demographic characteristics such as sex, age, and marital status. Policy makers should make efforts to reduce the burden on the elderly medical expense and to improve equity of medical use through institutional improvement such as raising age limit and lowering premium of indemnity private health insurance and expansion of public health insurance.

  • Purpose: The researchers reviewed the previous studies on the psychological anxiety and economic damage during the recent COVID-19 pandemic to understand the satisfaction, awareness and attitude of the residents in Jeju, Korea. Research design, data and methodology: 215 samples based on self-reported survey were collected for path analysis focused on controlling variables in demographic characteristics in PLS-SEM using Smart PLS 3.0. Results: The researchers found the Satisfaction with COVID-19 Prevention Measures and the Awareness of Tourism Crisis affect Attitude toward Tourism of the residents with the explanatory power (R2 = 0.209). Age was found to be the only significant controlling variable in this model for the Awareness of Tourism Crisis to Attitude toward Tourism. Conclusions: The attitude toward tourism is influenced by the level of satisfaction of the prevention service for COVID-19 as well as the awareness of the crisis. Residents have different level of the tourism crisis awareness by the status of their economic activities while there is no differences in all age groups for satisfaction in the quarantine service. The study suggests that the importance of the public health service should be preferentially concerned for residents to have stable economic activities where the tourism is the major industry.
