Purpose: The purpose of this study is to design a systematic method to estimate optimal operation conditions of design variables for an electronic device alignment system. Method: The 2-level factorial design and the central composite design are used in order to plan experiments. Based on the experiment results, a regression model is established to find optimal conditions for the design variables. Results: 3 of 5 design variables are selected as major factors that affect the alignment system significantly. The optimized condition for each variable is estimated by using a sequential experiment plan and a quadratic regression model. Conclusion: The method designed in this study provides an efficient and systematic plan to select the optimized operation condition for the design variables. The method is expected to improve inspection accuracy of the system and reduce the development cost and period.
The purpose of this study is to estimate consumer preferences on hybrid cars and electric cars by employing a choice experiment reflecting the various market conditions, such as different projected market shares of green vehicles and $CO_2$ emission regulations. Depending on different market scenarios, we examine as to which attribute and individual characteristic affect the preferences of potential consumers on green vehicles and further, forecast the potential market shares of green cars. The primary results, estimated by a conditional logit and panel probit models, indicate that sales price, fuel cost, maximum speed, emission of air pollutants, fuel economy, and distance between fuel stations can significantly affect consumer's choice of environment-friendly cars. The second finding is that the unique features of electric cars might better appeal to consumers as the market conditions for electric cars are improved. Third, education, age, and gender can significantly affect individual preferences. Finally, as the market conditions become more favorable toward green cars, the forecasted market shares of hybrid and electric vehicles will increase up to 67% and 14%.

The study of grinding behavior characteristics on the metal powders has recently gained scientific interest due to their useful applications to enhance advanced nano materials and components. This could significantly improve the property of new mechatronics integrated materials and components. So, a new evaluation method for standardizing grinding equipment and a comparative study for the grinding experiment during the grinding process with various grinding mills were investigated. The series of grinding experiments were carried out by a traditional ball mill, stirred ball mill, and planetary ball mill with various experimental conditions. The relationship between the standardization of equipment and experimental results showed very significant conclusions. Furthermore, the comparative study on the grinding experiment, which investigated changes in particle size, particle morphology, and crystal structure of materials with changes in experimental conditions for grinding equipment, found that the value of particle size distribution is related to the various experimental conditions as a revolution speed of grinding mill and media size.

To develop restoration technologies of natural environment, which is destroyed through the urbanization, industrialization, and the increase of leisure industry, the development of environmental restoration material and those application is greatly needed. Concerning this current issue, an experiment has been conducted to test and an experiment has been conducted to test and analyze the conditions of nutritonal propagation of willow cutting, which is known as a plant with rapid propagation and good growth capability under bad soil conditions and its wide ecological amplitude. 24 various kinds of willow cuttings -2~6 cuttings for each species -were placed into the earth for 57 days and measured the lengths and the diameters of willow cuttings, the possibility of root formation, the total number, and the total length of new shoots and roots. 23 among 24 willow cuttings tested were showing a great growing capacity and a number of new shoots and roots were observed in a relatively short time. This proved that salix is an adequate plant material for quick environmental restoraton . Besides, those willow cuttings could be classified for different site conditions through comparing the ratio of the underground part to the aboveground in total length. The results are as follows; S. dependens, S. matsudana, S. babylonica are the most suitable species for quick vegetaton and S. gracilistyla,S. myricoides,S. alba 'sercia' for erosioni control.
Coolant mixing under natural circulation flow regime constitutes a key parameter that may play a role in the course of an accidental transient in a nuclear pressurized water reactor. This issue has motivated some experimental investigations carried out within the OECD/NEA PKL projects. The aim was to assess the coolant mixing phenomenon in the reactor pressure vessel downcomer and the core lower plenum under several asymmetric steady and unsteady flow conditions, and to provide experimental data for code validations. Former studies addressed the mixing phenomenon using, on the one hand, one-dimensional computational approaches with cross flows that are not fully validated under transient conditions and, on the other hand, expensive computational fluid dynamic tools that are not always justified for large-scale macroscopic phenomena. In the current framework, an unsteady coolant mixing experiment carried out in the Rossendorf coolant mixing test facility is simulated using the three-dimensional porous media capabilities of the thermal-hydraulic system CATHARE code. The current study allows highlighting the current capabilities of these codes and their suitability for reproducing the main phenomena occurring during asymmetric transient natural circulation mixing conditions.

In terms of long-term safety for radioactive waste disposal, the anionic iodide (I-129) with a long half-life ($1.6{\times}10^6yr$) is of a critical importance because this radionuclide migrates in geological media with limited interactions. Various studies have been performed to retard the iodide migration. Recently, some minerals that are likely generated from waste container corrosion, have been suggested to have a considerable chemical interaction with iodide. In this study, chalcocite and mackinawite were selected as candidate minerals for underground corrosion materials, and an iodide sorption experiment were carried out. The experiment was performed under anoxic and alkaline conditions and the pH effects on the iodide sorption were investigated in the range of pH 8 to 12. The results showed that both minerals demonstrated a noticeable sorption capacity on iodide, and the distribution coefficient ($K_d$) decreased as the pH increased in the experimental condition. In addition, when the alkalinity increased higher than a pH of 12, the sorption capacity of both minerals decreased dramatically, likely due to the competition of hydroxy ions with the iodide. This result confirmed that chalcocite was an especially good sorbing media for iodide under alkaline conditions with a pH value of less than 12.
This paper provides an assessment of fluid transport and mixing processes inside the primary circuit of the test facility ROCOM through the numerical simulation of Test 2.1 with the system code ATHLET. The experiment represents an asymmetric injection of cold and non-borated water into the reactor coolant system (RCS) of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) to restore core cooling, an emergency procedure which may subsequently trigger a core re-criticality. The injection takes place at low velocity under single-phase subcooled conditions and presents a major challenge for the simulation in lumped parameter codes, due to multidimensional effects in horizontal piping and vessel arising from density gradients and gravity forces. Aiming at further validating ATHLET 3-D capabilities against horizontal geometries, the experiment conditions are applied to a ROCOM model, which includes a newly developed horizontal pipe object to enhance code prediction inside coolant loops. The obtained results show code strong simulation capabilities to represent multidimensional flows. Enhanced prediction is observed at the vessel inlet compared to traditional 1-D approach, whereas mixing overprediction from the descending denser plume is observed at the upper-half downcomer region, which leads to eventual deviations at the core inlet.

In this study, the optimal feed system and process conditions that can simultaneously minimize each warpage occurring in the two shape features of the 2P Header HSG, a connector part for automobiles, were determined through injection molding simulation analysis. First, we defined each warping deformation of the two features geometrically and quantified them approximately using the injection molding simulation data. For design optimization, a full factorial experiment was conducted considering the feed system, resin temperature, and packing pressure as design variables, and a follow-up experiment was conducted based on the analysis of the average warpage. In this study, an optimal design was generated considering both the warpage result and resin-saving effect. In the optimal design, the warpages of the two shape features were predicted to be 0.18 and 0.29 mm, and these warpages were found to meet the allowable limit of warpage, which is 0.3 mm, for part assembly.

Rubber compounds have high viscoelastic property. One of the viscoelastic behaviors during profile extrusion is the swelling of extrudate. In this study, die swell of rubber compounds at the capillary die have been investigated through an experiment and computer simulation. They have been performed using fluidity tester in experiment and commercial CFD code, Polyflow in computer simulation. Die swell of rubber compounds for relaxation time at several modes under same conditions with the experiment were predicted using non-linear differential viscoelastic model, Phan-Thien-Tanner (PTT) model. The simulation was analyzed compared with the experiment. Viscoelastic behaviors for pressure, velocity and shear rate distribution were analyzed at the capillary die. It is concluded that the PTT model successfully represented the amount of the optimal die swell of rubber compounds for relaxation time at different modes.

In order to verify and take measures against a variety of troubles which cannot be predicted in a well-controlled laboratory, it is necessary that solar system should be experimented in an actual situation during a long period. Through this experiment it can be also understood how the load pattern and operational conditions expected in a design process become different to those in the actual running, which can be applied to a new system design. We installed 6 kW solar hot water heating system with a shower facility and operated during 7 months. As a result, average 8.3 persons took a shower a day; solar fraction is 71% and total collector efficiency is 40% during the periods from March to September. We confirmed several troubles encountered in the actual situation and considered practical center-measures.
