The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the characteristics of the exhibits at three representative science centers or museums in Seoul, and (2) to analyse students' perceptions about the most and the least favorite exhibits selected by students as visitors. Three science centers investigated were Seoul National Science Museum, Seoul Education & Science Research Institute, LG Science Hall. The subjects for students' perception survey were 290 middle school students who visited the three science centers. The investigation of the exhibits showed that the goals, the contents, the visitors' viewing and manipulating activity types, and the explanation types of the exhibits depended on the purposes and the target visitors of each science center. Students' responses indicated that they most favored hands-on exhibit. And students preferred the exhibits that had new and comprehensible contents and the were related to what they had learned in school. Students said that they felt that science was exciting and that they came to experience what they did not do in school. Students said that reading or hearing given explanations was helpful to understand the exhibits, but about 20% of the students responded that they did not read explanation on panels at all. Students also said that guide's oral explanations were more understandable than written explanations on panels. Some of the students commented that having to wait for access because of crowds or because of the resetting time required for hands-on activities was inconvenience.

The present study is part of the Special Research Project for the Construction of a Kansei Sensory Evaluation Model that is currently underway at the University of Tsukuba. In this study, a robot was operated by remote control at an actual art museum as part of a preliminary experiment. The results obtained therefrom were used to consider how people might view exhibits. In a previous study, a standard lens and s wide-angle lens were used to analyze differences in sensory-based movements, while VRML was used to analyze differences in these movements between a virtual and an actual museum. In the present study, the time delay in remote operation, which is currently unavoidable, placed some restrictions on the degree of freedom with which exhibits could be viewed, but it was apparent that sensory evaluation could be possible depending on the search behavior and viewing time. Furthermore specific viewing behaviors using the robot were observed, suggesting that new Kansei sensory perceptions were derived from these behaviors.

Science hands-on exhibits are increasingly popular, especially during vacation time. These exhibits hire guides to help visitors to understand the contents. In this study, the qualifications of the guides are investigated through interviews with the producers who run the exhibit. There were two main questions the researcher was interested in during the interviews. One was the importance of the science background of the guides. The second was the characteristics of guides that the producers consider important for successful exhibits. The results show that a science background is not an important qualification in the view of most of the producers. Many factors other than science, such as accountability or social skills, were considered to be of greater importance than a background in science.

The present study grasped the operation characteristics and operation management of forest museums in Korea and analyzed satisfaction with the foregoing. In the results of a survey of forest museums' operation characteristics, with regard to groups to which exhibits were helpful, over half of respondents answered that the exhibits were helpful to students and many respondents had an opinion that all age groups should be equally considered as targets of exhibition. Among matters that were considered with regards to forest museums, accessibility showed the highest rate of answers followed by museum programs. The curator was needed for the majority of respondents were exhibits prior to the survey had the highest expectations for the medium. With regard to the operation management of forest museums, the expected value of periodic and extraordinary exhibitions was shown to be high and high and satisfaction was shown by the professionalism of staff. As for matters of forest museums that must be improved, attention should be paid to the development of programs in which users can participate, diverse exhibition media should be developed, and exhibition should be planned to fit the composition of exhibits. As for operation management, since exhibits were repeated every year, environments should be changed by exhibiting new exhibits or otherwise and active methods of improvement should be devised such as the utilization of broadcasting media for public relations.
This study aims to find how storytelling classes using fairy tales related to science museum exhibits have an effect on positive experience about science. For this study, the theoretical background and preceding studies on the relevance of science education and literature were collected and based on the characteristics of assimilation and the educational value of assimilation, naturally connected to the exhibits in relation to their own life, so that individuals could explore science even out-of-school. Four types of activities were developed by linking four fairy tales mentioned in elementary school textbooks to the G science museum exhibits. Seven elementary school teachers verified the validity of the activity materials. Classes through the developed activity materials were conducted four times in a row, one and a half hours at every turn for 10 students. A positive experience about science test was conducted on the students in a study to confirm that this activity has caused significant changes in science academic emotion among sub-domains of positive experience about science. In order to find the factors that affected the science academic emotion, we interviewed the students in the study and their parents. The results of this study show that the use of fairy tales related to science museum exhibits has led to a significant change in science academic emotion by reducing the burden of learning through the exhibition experience at the science museum, which creates scientific curiosity and recognizes them as a playground.
The present paper investigates the optimal operation of a switched reluctance motor such that overall drive efficiency is maximized under a variable supply voltage. The operation under a variable supply voltage exhibits the improved drive efficiency in the full range of operating torque and speed, and exhibits the expanded range of operating torque and speed. Furthermore a variable supply voltage may be utilized in reducing torque ripple.
The relation between substorm occurrences and HILDCAA events has been an issue. We have studied the association of particle injections with substorm onsets during HILDCAA intervals for the first half of year 2003. The examination of aurora images observed by IMAGE spacecraft and electron flux data measured by LANL satellites exhibits a close association of repetitive particle injections with substorm activity. We also find that HILDCAA events can occur equally frequently during slow speed solar wind streams as long as the interplanetary magnetic field exhibits Alfvenic wave feature.
A SiGe HBT MMIC differential VCO has been developed for C-band wireless LAN applications. The VCO produces -6.4 dBm output power at 4.75 GHz. The VCO exhibits a 490 MHz tuning range with control voltage from 0.5 V to 2.5 V. The phase noise of the VCO exhibits -106.5 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 4.75 GHz carrier. The total current consumption of the VCO is 10 mA at a supply voltage of 3 V.
The Andong batholith is a Jurassic plutonic complex intruding metamorphic rocks of the RRyeongnam massif that extends from NE to SW in the southern Korean Peninsula. Detailed mapping and petrographic studies show that the batholith exhibits five sparate plutons: Andong, Dosan, Pungsan, Imha, and Nokjeon. The oldest Andong pluton among them exhibits reverse zoning. This feature contrasts with typical modal and chemical zoning trends in calc-alkaline plutons in which higher color index and more mafic rocks in the outer rim surround lower color index felsic rocks in the interior. The mathematics exhibition gives visitors a special chance to experience mathematics materials through a variety of exhibits. Thus, the study should be carried out by examining the impact on students' perception in the area of mathematics education. This study was conducted based on the three domestic mathematics exhibitions. I carried out the study, with the population of the middle and high school students consisted of 393 attendees and 135 volunteers at the exhibitions, to examine (1) the current condition of exhibitions' operating system and exhibits, (2) the reaction to the exhibits' contents, presentation methods, exhibitions' operating systems, and facilities, and (3) the cognitive and affective effects on the students' perception, engagement, and motivation. From the research-based study, I found more pros on the mathematics exhibition than cons. Therefore, in my opinion, the exhibition's role should be defined as an efficient supplementary method to complement the school curriculum. It is also necessary to develop the appropriate exhibits' contents reflecting the students' levels and needs. The government should provide enough financial supports to various mathematics exhibitions in order to install amenities and facilities for visitors.
