Synthesis and Fluorescent Properties of New Rhodamine B Containing Phenothiazine Moiety (새로운 로다민 B 페노시아진 유도체의 합성과 형광 특성)

  • A colorimetric chemosensors $Sn^{2+}$ have been designed and synthesized by three steps. The spirolactam ring-opening process of rhodamine B is one of the most useful mechanisms for controlling fluorescence properties. Herein, new fluorescent chemosensors 1 and 2 based on rhodamine B containing phenothiazine derivertive were synthesized. They exhibit selective fluorescence enhancement behaviour in the presence of $Sn^{2+}$ ion. Complexation between these compounds and the metal cations were confirmed through continuous variation method. It is observed that compounds 1, 2, and $Sn^{2+}$ ion are complexed by 1:1 formation. Especially the proposed compounds 1 and 2 exhibit quick, simple and facile synthetic route.

Ultrahigh Efficiency from Novel Blue Emitters Using a Rational Molecular Design

  • We investigated new deep blue emitting materials including a novel side group such as CB-203. CB-203 shows relatively 40% increased PL quantum efficiency and higher Tg of $30^{\circ}C$ compared to MADN. It exhibits high External Quantum Efficiency (EQE) of 7.18% that is two times bigger than MADN's, which is the best efficiency in case of non-doped blue fluorescence OLED device to our knowledge. And deep blue emitting materials with a new core structure (CB-301) have been synthesized. CB-301 exhibit excellent blue fluorescence properties. Undoped OLED devices using CB-301 as blue emitters was found to deep blue CIE value (0.154, 0.078) and exhibit high luminance efficiencies of 2.01cd/A at $10\;mA/cm^2$.

Information Propagation in Social Networks with Overlapping Community Structure

  • Many real networks exhibit overlapping community structures. Recent studies have been performed that analyze the impact of overlapping community structure on information propagation, but few of them concerned with individual behaviors. From this point of view, we propose a Markov process model to evaluate the performance of information propagation in social networks with overlapping community structures. In addition, many individual social behaviors are combined in the model. For example, individuals may exhibit selfish behaviors, such as individual and social selfishness, and people may discard the information after they have used it. The accuracy of the model is verified by simulation. Furthermore, the numerical results show that both overlapping community structure of the network and individual behaviors have a significant impact on the outbreak size and propagation speed of the information. Additionally, the overlapping community structure of the social network can reduce the impact of selfishness on information propagation.

  • Vertically-aligned $TiO_2$ nanotube electrodes have attracted considerable attention for applications in solar cells, catalysts, and sensors, because of their ideal structure for electron transport and electrolyte diffusion. Here, we prepare vertically-aligned $TiO_2$ nanotube electrodes using a two-step anodization process. The prepared $TiO_2$ nanotube electrodes exhibit uniform pore structures with an inner diameter of ~80-90 nm and wall thickness of ~20-25 nm. In addition, they exhibit an anatase crystal phase after a high-temperature annealing. The annealed $TiO_2$ nanotube electrodes are applied in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) as photoanodes. The fabricated DSSC exhibits conversion efficiencies of 3.46 and 2.15% with liquid- and gel-type electrolytes, respectively.

Studies on Pyrolysis Behaviour of Banana Stem as Precursor for Porous Carbons

  • Porous carbons have been prepared from different parts of banana stems using two different routes, viz., by pyrolysing the mass at different temperatures as well as by treating the dried mass with chemicals followed by pyrolysis. The pyrolysis behaviour of all these materials has been studied up to $1000^{\circ}C$. Samples treated with acids exhibit more increase in surface area as compared to those treated with alkalies or salts. Analysis of BET surface area shows that the carbon prepared at low temperature shows mixed porosity, i.e., micro and mesopores. Samples heated to high temperature above $700^{\circ}C$ show decrease in macroporosity and increase in microporosity. Liquid adsorption studies have been made using methylene blue and heavy oil. The activated carbons so prepared exhibit higher oil adsorption mainly in the macro and mesopores.

Properties of Electric Sofety for Dielectric Loss of Aging Natural Rubber. (노화된 천연고무의 유전손실에 관한 전기안전특성)

  • The dielectric properties of natural rubbers for electric safety are very important to investigate the molecular structure. The electric safety characteristics of the dielectric absorption in aging vulcanized natural rubber were studied in the range of frequency from 1$\times$10$^3$[Hz]to 3.2$\times$10$^3$[Hz]l at the temperature of 23[$^{\circ}C$]. As the results, it has been confirmed that in the case of aging natural rubber of above 2 phr the specimens exhibit two kinds of dielectric losses due to the dipole polarization by impurities and sulfurs, and of raw rubber exhibit the kind of losses due to the dipole polarization. Rurthermore, dielectric loss maximum tansspectrum in high freguency region for electric safety, which removed to the low freguency according to increasing sulfur, depends greatly on sulfur.

Systematic Chirality Investigations of Zn-TLM binding Sites by 2D-NOESY Back-calculations

  • The systematic chirality investigations were made on the basic of the fact that zinc-binding tallysomycin (ZnTLMA) could have chiral centers (Zn, NC3, C6) at possible 4-, 5-, and 6-coordination models. Although our NMR data exhibit that the ligation sites are ${\beta}$-aminoalanine, ${\beta}$-hydroxyhistidine, and pyrimidine moiety, all possible coordination modes were tested out to see what kind of chiralities on NC3-C6 are favorable to each coordination mode. Tests were also made that take into account the specific configuration of functional groups, including ${\beta}$-aminoalanine, sugar ring, and ${\beta}$-hydroxyhistidine. Tests were finally extended to zinc-water binding and specific conformational studies by introducing various hydrogen bonding networks associated with the propionamide side chain and the carbamide group of mannose. Results of systematic chirality investigations exhibit that the S-S configuration of NC3-C6 is favorable to all of coordination models, but the R-S configuration, if exists at all, should have internal strain on C6 chiral center.

Difference of Age-Related Sensitivity to Organophosphates (유기인계 농약의 연령에 따른 감수성 차이)

  • The potential for a given anticholinesterase pesticide to exhibit age-related toxicity is essential information for an accurate and proper risk assessment of that compound. This investigation was designed to study the age-related toxicity of active metabolites of four organophosphates using in vitro detoxification measurement. The blood samples were collected from 1 month and 18 months old rats. The $IC_{50}$ values of mouse brain recombinant AChE of chlorpyrifos-oxon, diazoxon, malaoxon and paraoxon were 10.35, 112.84, 151.28 and 18.43 nM, respectively. When the plasma of young rats, and $CaCI_2$were added, the $IC_{50}$ values of mouse brain recombinant AChE of chlorpyrfos-oxon, diazoxon, malaoxon and paraoxon were 31.89, 164.25, 139.94 and 16.36 nM, respectively. The $IC_{50}$ values of mouse brain recombinant AChE of chlorpyrifos-oxon, diazoxon, malaoxon and paraoxon were changed to 136.840, 1244.45, 654.54 and 52.66 nM by A-esterases In adult rats. These results suggest that four organophosphates have a potential toxicity to exhibit age-related sensitivity.

  • Chemistry and microstructure of steel reinforcement bars play an important role to control the corrosion in concrete environments. In present study, we have chosen two different microstructure of steel rebars produced from companies and assessed their corrosion characteristics in simulated concrete pore (SCP) solution with prolonged exposure periods. Hot rolled steel rebar showed more corrosion resistance compare to thermo-mechanically treated (TMT) one. The growth of passive is greater in hot rolled (A) than TMT (B) due to orientation of microstructure. TMT steel rebar exhibit distorted microstructure with many micro cells which enhances the galvanic coupling and induce the deterioration while on the other hand hot rolled rebars exhibit fine grain boundary which responsible in growth of uniform, adherent and protective passive film resultant improved impedance was observed.

  • The dielectric propertries of polymers are very important to investigate the molecular structure of polymer. The characteristrics of the dielectric absorption in vulcanized natural rubber were studied in the range of frequency from 10[KHz] to 32[MHz] at the temperature of 25[$^{\circ}C$]. As the results. it has been confirmed that in the case of natural ruber vulcanized between 2 and 4phr the specimens exhibit two kind of dielectric losses due to the dipole polarization by impurites and sulfure, and of above 7phr was only a loss due to the dipole polarization by sulfure and of natural rubber exhibit two kind of losses due to the interfacial and the dipole polarization. Furthermore, dielectric loss maximun tan spectrum, which removed to the low frequency according to increasing sulfure, depends greatly on sulfure. The volume resistivity of $10^{7}$~$10^{11}$[$\Omega\cdot$cm], regardness whether the crosslinking of rubber are tired by sulfure or, was observed.
