Dose-dependent increasesin blood glucose were produced by epinephrine and clonidine in fasted male mice. Isoproterenol was ineffective in increasing blood glucose at lower doses ($10^{-8}M$/kg-$10^{-7}M$/kg); with higher dose ($10^{-6}M$/kg) the glucose level was increased. The hyperglycemia induced by epinephrine was inhibited by yobimbine, prazosin and propranolol, indicating that the hyperglycemic effect of epinephrine is mediated by alpha-1, alpha-2 and beta adrenoceptor. When clonidine (10$^{-6}$ M/kg) was administered simultaneously with sioproterenol ($10^{-6}M$/kg), an enhenced hyperglycemic effect was observed. The increment produced by clonidine plus isoproterenol was higher than that by clonidine alone. These increment produced by clonidine plus isoproterenol was higher than that by clonidine alone. These results suggest that stimulation of alpha-2 adrenoceptor may be reponsible for the exertion of the hyperglycemic effect by beta agonists in fasted mice.

Here, we present a rare case of cardiac parasitic infection found in an adult female patient who had the symptoms of dyspnea upon exertion. She was diagnosed with a double-chambered right ventricle due to infundibular hypertrophy confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography. We performed surgery of infundibulectomy around the pulmonary valve. In the end, histopathological findings of the resected infundibular muscle demonstrated trichinellosis, a type of roundworm infection.

This study performed to evaluated musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs) during sitting work. The musculskeletal system is affected by various work factors such as strength, weight, posture, repetition, duration and exertion. Ergonomic study on sitting work is necessary to evaluate these factors affecting human body. But the strength and work load data by the work factors are insufficient in Korea. Therefore, this study evaluated the work load using the elcctromyogram(EMG) and measured the arm strength by arm posture and push pull work during sitting work. to evaluated muscle load, the vertical height and horizontal angle of arm were adjusted around acromion. And EMG data were recorded on pc during the test.

The field is a good learning environment that offers many opportunities. Status of conducting field trip in the middle and high school was investigated As a result, there was few teachers who disagree that a course in science should include learning in the field. Yet, on practical side, teachers who used to conduct the field trip over once a year in science class appeared to be about 23% only. Most of schools conducting field trips hadn't well-planned program for instructional activities. Many of teachers appealed that they should not get release time for conducting an extended field experiences, and that they could not obtained good information in relation to the contents, the methods and strategies of field activities. It says that a good field trip needs administrative and financial surport, many informations, and the teacher's exertion.

The aim of study intends to investigate physical response of human body wearing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and to provide the base data for the safety of firefighter. The results of the study are as follows. when wearing SCBA, the mean skin temperature (7 %), heart rate (28 %), rate of perceived exertion (65.4 %), metabolic equivalents (70.7 %) were significantly higher (p<.05), respiratory rate was not statistically significant. It is concluded that wearing SCBA causes significant stress to the physical systems.

Unroofed coronary sinus syndrome is an uncommon anomaly which is caused by incomplete formation of the left atriovenous fold and it is usually associated with persistent left superior vena cava. It may be diagnosed by cardiac catheterization and cineangiography but, if it is not diagnosed, it can bring out significant complications due to right to left shunt, such as brain abscess, cerebral embolism, transient ischemic attack, arterial desaturation and there will reduced patient`s life expectancy. Therefore corrective operation was needed. A case of unroofed coronary sinus syndrome which combines with valvular heart disease was experienced at the department of thoracic & cardiovascular surgery of Kosin medical college. The patient was 49 years old female and she complained dyspnea on exertion for 2 yrs. Cardiac catheterization with cineangiography and both superior venacavogram were performed for diagnosis and she was diagnosed as unroofed coronary sinus syndrome combined with mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. Surgical correction was accomplished by reroofing of coronary sinus with pericardial patch, closure of atrial septal defect and annuloplasty of both atrioventricular valves. Postoperative results were satisfactory and course of recovery was uneventful. We report a case of unroofed coronary sinus syndrome with review.

A 31-year-old man was admitted due to dyspnea on exertion[NYHA III-IV and general weakness.The echocardiographic findings reveal moderate secundum atrial septal defect and mitral stenosis.Mitral valve replaced through atrial septal defect and atrial septal defect closed by direct suture.Postoperative course was uneventful and discharged 2 weeks later.

It is very common for women wear shoes with a high heel. It has been known that the high heel could disfigure the foot shape and cause various joint problems including back pain. However, few quantitative studies have been conducted. Therefore, in this study, the low back muscle has been investigated in order to find fatifue effect due to different heights of the heel. In particular, 0, 4, 6 and 8cm heel and two different shapes of heel have been used for an experiment. Ten healthy female subjects volunteered for the study. Isometric Trunk Exertion Frame(ITEF) and Electromyography were used to measure tha Median Frequency via Spectral analysis. The results indicated that the heel height significantly affected the local muscle fatigue of the back. After post hoc analysis, it was found that a proper heel height ougth to be lower than 5cm not to have severely fatigued back muscle after a casual walk for an hour. Such results could be applies to female industrial workers in order to prevent a cumulative trauma disorder of the back, and also to design a female dress shoes minimizing low back fatigue.

Eisenmenger syndrome is a condition which systemic arterial blood oxygen unsaturation occurs if obstruction in the pulmonary capillaries raises the pulmonary vascular resistance and pulmonary arterial pressure to or beyond systemic levels and then a significant right to left shunt develops across a preexisting cardiac septal defect or an aortopulmonary communication-We have experienced 3 cases of similar condition. Case I is 24 year old man who has had cyanosis and dyspnea on exertion since childhood. His pulmonary arterial pressure was 110/80mmHg. He was operated under diagnosis of the mitral stenosis and tetralogy of Fallot, but it was finally discovered that he had patent ductus arteriosus and ventricular defect was closed with perforated prosthetic patch, but the patient expired due to right heart failure low cardiac output. Case II was 16 year old female who had pulmonary hypertension of 110/85mmHg. She was diagnosed as Eisenmenger syndrome combining with atrial septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus. Case III was 20 year old male. His pulmonary arterial pressure was 110/70mmHg and the underlying defect was patent ductus arteriosus.

Ebstein`s anomaly is a rare congenital cardiac malformation and characterized by downward displacement of an abnormal tricuspid valve cusps. But until now, the ideal surgical correction is still controversial. We present a case of Ebstein`s anomaly experienced lately. The patient was 13 year old girl with the complaints of dyspnea on exertion, fatigability and cyanosis. Echocardiography revealed downward displacement of septal leaflet of tricuspid valve and atrialized right ventricle. Cardiac catheterization and cineangiography revealed ASD and large right atrium. During operation, the atrialized right ventricle was plicated and tricuspid annuloplasty was done. And the two secundum type ASD`s were closed by direct suture closure. The patient`s postoperative course was uneventful and discharged on the 24th postoperative days.
