In ancient times, horse racing was done in ancient European countries in the form of wagon races or mountain races, and wagon racing was adopted as a regular event at the Greek Olympic Games. Thoroughbred horse has been bred since 17th century by intensive selective breeding for its speed, stamina, and racing ability. Then, in the 18th century, horse racing using the Thoroughbred species began to gain popularity among nobles. Since then, horse racing has developed into various forms in various countries and have developed into flat racing, steeplechasing, and harness racing. Thoroughbred racehorse has excellent racing abilities because of powerful selection breeding strategy for 300 years. It is necessary to maintain and maximize horses' ability to race, because horse industries produce enormous economic benefits through breeding, training, and horse racing. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods which process large amounts of genomic data have been developed recently. Based on the remarkable development of these genomic analytical techniques, it is now possible to easily carry out animal breeding strategies with superior traits. In order to select breeding racehorse with superior racing traits, the latest genomic analysis techniques have to be introduced. In this paper, we will review the current efforts to improve race performance for racehorses and to examine the research trends of genomic analysis. Finally, we suggest to utilize genomic analysis in Thoroughbred racehorse and Jeju horse, and propose a strategy for selective breeding for Jeju horse, which contributes job creation of Korea.

This study aims to provide policy suggestions on how to implement the process of empowerment, by investigating the conditions that hinder the process and the attitude of the KBS employees. For the cross-sectional study, this thesis examined the domestic and international references, conducted a survey of KBS employees, personal interviews and made direct observations. Approximately 1,200 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 474 were completed and returned. The analysis used SPSS 12.0 software to process the data collected from 460 respondents. The survey findings showed a decrease of 24.2%p in the number of responses expressing negative views of the team structure and a decrease of 1.29%p in the number of positive responses. The findings indicated a positive transformation illustrating employees' improved understanding and approval of the team structure. However, KBS must address the issue on an ongoing basis. It has been proven that the employee empowerment increases the productivity of the individual and the group. In order to boost the level of empowerment, the management must exercise new, innovative leadership and build trust between the managers and the employees first. Additional workload as a result of shirking at work places was prevalent throughout all divisions and ranks, according to the survey data. This outcome leads to the conclusion that the workload is not evenly distributed or shared. And the data also showed the employees do not trust the assessment and rewards system. More attention and consideration must be paid to the team size and job allocation in order to address this matter; the present assessment and rewards system need to be complemented. The type of leadership varies depending on the characteristics of the organization's structure and employees' disposition. KBS must develop and reform its own management, leadership style to suit the characteristics of individual teams. Finally, for a soft-landing of KBS team structure, in-house training and education are necessary.
Background : The goal of this study was to examine the health behaviors of nurses and provide basic information on health promotion for nurses. Materials and Methods : A self-administered questionnaire survey was completed by 340 nurses working at a university hospital in Daegu, Korea from March 6 to March 30, 2006. The questionnaire included demographic characteristics, working environment, health behaviors, self-assessed health status, and the practice of health promotion activities according to the work group(shift group vs. non-shift group). Results : There were significant differences in 'regular diet', 'drinking', 'ordinary health management', 'regular exercise', 'leisure activities', 'rest', and 'feeling of fatigue' between the two groups. The score for the practice of health promotion activities of the non-shift group was 121.9, which was higher than the 115.4 for the shift group. By field of practice of health promotion activities, there were significant differences in 'self-realization' and 'nutrition' between the two groups. Conclusion : The shift group did not appear to have enough time to take care of their health. It is therefore important to provide a working environment in which nurses are encouraged to increase their interest and efforts to maintain healthy behaviors. In addition, programs for education and training should be developed to help nurses adopt healthy life styles and enhance their self-esteem.
Actual maritime exercise for improving the capability of submarine sonar operator leads to a lot of cost and constraints. Sonar simulator maximizes the capability of sonar operator and training effect by solving these problems and simulating a realistic battlefield environment. In this study, a passive sonar simulator algorithm is suggested, where the simulator is divided into three modules: maneuvering module, noise source module, and sound propagation module. Maneuvering module is implemented in three-dimensional coordinate system and time interval is set as the rate of vessel changing course. Noise source module consists of target noise, ocean ambient noise, and self noise. Target noise is divided into modulated/unmodulated and narrowband/broadband signals as their frequency characteristics, and they are applied to ship radiated noise level depending on the vessel tonnage and velocity. Ocean ambient noise is simulated depending on the wind noise considering the waveguide effect and other ambient noise. Self noise is also simulated for flow noise and insertion loss of sonar-dome. The sound propagation module is based on ray propagation, where summation of amplitude, phase, and time delay for each eigen-ray is multiplied by target noise in the frequency domain. Finally, simulated results based on various scenarios are in good agreement with generated noise in the real ocean.

Frontotemporal dementia, the second most common cause of early onset dementia, is a neurodegenerative clinical syndrome characterized by progressive deficits in behavior, executive function and language. Although motor symptoms in frontotemporal dementia are represented by motor neuron disease, parkinsonism and progressive supranuclear palsy syndrome, there have been no reports of motor weakness caused by the direct involvement of central motor nervous systems in frontotemporal dementia. Moreover, no association between clinical dementia groups and complex regional pain syndrome has been reported. We diagnosed a rare case with motor weakness and complex regional pain syndrome of lower limbs due to central nervous system lesion in a patient with frontotemporal dementia by magnetic resonance imaging, electrodiagnostic study and three phase bone scan. Following steroid therapy for complex regional pain syndrome, pain was improved. Functional improvement was noted after rehabilitation therapy, including functional electrical stimulation, muscle strengthening exercise and gait training during hospitalization. This case report suggests that rehabilitation therapy for motor weakness in frontotemporal dementia could be effective for improving overall function.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of octacosanol and Taekwondo program on the fatigue substance, immunoglobulin after short term weight loss 21 male Taekwondo players. They were stay in a camp training together 6 days from same exercise and Octacosanol group and weight loss group is reduced over 5% weight loss by diet calorie restriction decrease gradually. Octacosanol intaked 2 times 20 mg after a meal. Control and weight loss group intaked placebo drug. The conclusions obtained from the above were as follow: Blood Fatigue Substance As lactate, The intra-group comparison decreased octacosanol group after loss weight. The between groups comparison, octacosanol group was superior to control and weight loss group. As lactate dehydrogenase, control and weight loss group increased after weight loss. As ammonia, The intra- group comparison decreased octacosanol group after loss weight. The between groups comparison, octacosanol group was superior to control and weight loss group. Immunoglobulin As IgA, IgG The intra-group comparison increased all group. As IgM, The were no significant differences between group. In conclusion, these results indicate that intake octacosanol after loss weight positive effects on the fatigue substance, Immunoglobulin for male Taekwondo players. Mter this study, We need to study about multilateral research for weight players.
The purpose of this research is aimed at billiards experts and non-experts during the billiard stroke: a comparative analysis of concentration and muscle activity, identifying the differences between the two groups by the objective and scientific data is presented to propose the basis for effective and efficient training methods of billiards. The results of the study showed no significant differences in muscle activity and concentration between experts and non-experts. Therefore, the muscle activity and concentration between the experts and non-experts had no positive effect during the billiard stroke. These causes are thought to be as a lack of research subjects, being a one-time experiment, and not being able to control psychological and physiological experiments completely. In this regard, psychological and physiological experiments are considered to be controlled for further study to determine the principles more clearly.

The purpose of this study was to identify levels of activity of daily living, self-efficacy. stroke specific quality of life and need for self-help management program for patients with hemiplegia in the home. Data were collected from June to November, 2000 and subjects were 88 poststroke patients who lived in Seoul and Kyunggi-do. The questionnaire consisted of 5 scales: activities of daily living, self-efficacy, stroke specific qulaity of life and need for a self-help management program. Data were analyzed using frequencies, percent, paired t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with the SAS(version 6.12) program. The results are as follows ; 1) Most of subjects were Partially independent in ADL, but they needed assist once to do dressing, bathing meal preparation and house keeping work. 2) The mean self-efficacy score was 54.89(range : 1 to 80) and the individual differences were large. 3) Subjects responded that they were satisfied on the stroke specific quality of life scale totaled 65.8%. This value is comparatively low, especially for social role(51.4%), family functioning(58.3%) and mood (62.2%). 4) The highest needs for self-help management programs were for physical therapy, stress management, and range of motion exercise and the lowest needs were for elimination management and training, family counseling, and speech therapy. 5) On the demographic variables, sex showed significant differences for the dependent variables. Females had higher scores than males for IADL, self-efficacy, stroke-specific quality of life, and need for self-help management. 6) Age had high negative correlation with ADL, self-efficacy and stroke specific quality of life. Age was also correlated with need for self-help management. In conclusion, there was a high correlation for ADL, Self-efficacy and Quality of life in poststroke patients of home. The patient with a stroke also had a strong need for self-help management programs especially physical therapy and stress management. Therefore rehabilitation programs based on self-efficacy enhancement need to be developed in order to promote independent living for patients with hemiplegia.
The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing management case simulation (NMCS) framework based on the five components of nursing management process and to apply it to clinical nursing practice of nursing college students. The subjects of this study were NMCS reports submitted by the 4th grade 105 nursing students of an university. The research tool is a simulation framework for nursing management practice. It reflects the brainstorming and debriefing process used in the previous simulation exercise based on the five elements of planning, organization, human resource management, directing and control of the nursing management process respectively. As a result of the study, 32 nursing management cases were found to have 79.6% correct rate, 11.6% concept error rate, and 5.6% classification error rate in the first brainstorming and debriefing process for the five components of nursing management process. On the other hand, in the second brainstorming and debriefing process, 94.6% correct rate, 0.0% concept error rate, and 4.4% classification error rate. Based on these results, the NMCS framework developed in this study can be applied to the nursing management theory and practice course of nursing college students as well as simulation based job training and maintenance educations for clinical nurses. Therefore, we propose follow-up studies in various clinical nursing settings and a longitudinal cohort study to investigate the effect of nursing management job skills of nursing college students after graduation.
Objectives: Oral health management is important to improve the quality of life among the elderly. This study investigated the performance of elderly oral health management among some care workers in long-term-care hospitals. Methods: The study subjects were 174 care workers in 10 long-term-care hospitals. Data on general characteristics of care workers, attitude, recognition and knowledge of elderly health, performance of elderly oral health management were collected by a self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed through descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression analysis by using a SPSS version 23.0 statistical program. Results: The performance score of oral health management was $4.34{\pm}0.64$ on the 5-point Likert scale. The subjects who exercised more than 2 times a month were significantly higher in their performance of elderly oral health management compared to subjects who did not exercise (${\beta}=0.232$, p=0.035). And, the subjects who cared 10-19 persons were significantly higher in performance of elderly oral health management compared to subjects who cared more than 20 elderly (${\beta}=0.246$, p=0.020). The oral health behavior of care worker (${\beta}=0.271$, p<0.001) and the knowledge of oral health care (${\beta}=0.055$, p=0.008) were positively related to the performance of elderly oral health management. Conclusions: The educational program designed to improve knowledge of care workers in accordance with the standard textbook for training care workers should be developed, and the long term education program should be reinforced to improve the performance for elderly oral health care. If care workers can care a proper number of old persons, they will give oral health care to them.
