There is now an increased demand for harmony between the peri-implant gingiva and adjacent dentition. In the event of a pending loss of a single tooth in the aesthetic zone with healthy periodontium, expectation for optimal gingival and prosthodontic aesthetics are often very high. Unfortunately, bone resorption is common following the removal of an anterior tooth, compromising the gingival tissue levels for the eventual implant restoration. Also, improper implant placement and inadequate osseous-gingival support potentially deleterious aesthetic result. The creation of an esthetic implant restoration with gingival architecture that harmonizes with the adjacent dentitionis formidable challenge. The predictability of the peri-implant esthetic outcome may ultimately be determined by the patient's own presenting anatomy rather than the clinician's ability to manage state-of-the-art procedures. To more accurately predict the peri-implant esthetic outcome before removing a failing tooth, a considering of diagnostic keys is essential. This presentation addresses the useful diagnostic keys that affect the predictability of peri-implant gingival aesthetics and the overcoming of the risk factors in anterior single-tooth replacement; it also describes a surgical and prosthodontic technique in achieving a long term successful esthetic outcome. Proper diagnosis and understanding of the biological and periodontal variables of failing dentition and their response to surgical and prosthodontic procedures are the essence of predictability. Using a smart protocol that alters the periodontium toward less risk and more favorable assessment of the diagnostic keys before implant placement will provide the most predictable esthetic outcome. Simple diagnostic keys suggested this presentation are useful method to evaluate the overcoming of the risk factors in anterior single implant restoration.
Aim: Soy foods are the major source of isoflavones, which are believed to play important roles in genesis of breast cancer and its progression. We here conducted a prospective study to evaluate the association of soy isoflavone food consumption with breast cancer prognosis. Methods: A prospective study was performed from January 2004 and January 2006 in China. Trained interviewers conducted face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire to collect information on dietary habits and potential confounding factors. The relative risk [hazard ratio (HR)] and 95% CI were calculated from the Cox regression model for all significant predictors from cancer diagnosis to the endpoint of the study (event). Results: After a median follow up of 52.1 months (range, 9-60 months), a total of 79 breast cancer related deaths were recorded in our study, risk being inversely associated with a high intake of soy isoflavone. With an average intake of soy isoflavone above 17.3 mg/day, the mortality of breast cancer can be reduced by about 38-36%. We also found the decreased breast cancer death with high soy protein intake, with a HR (95% CI) of 0.71 (0.52-0.98). Stratified analysis with reference to the ER status, further demonstrated a better prognosis of ER positive breast cancer with a high intake of soy isoflavone (HR 0.59, 0.40-0.93). Conclusion: Our study shows the soy food intake is associated with longer survival and low recurrence among breast cancer patients. A cohort study with a larger sample size and long term follow-up is now needed.

The Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) plant should take into account the availability of the plant from the design stage for long-term and continuous fresh water production. As it occurs, it is necessary to establish a corrective maintenance plan and preventive maintenance plan to maintain availability. In the field of complex engineering structures such as seawater desalination plants, it is difficult to estimate the reliability or availability of the system in a mathematical way. This study develops RAM analysis framework and model, and proposes discrete event simulation model as a application sowtware specialized for seawater desalination plant. Considering the characteristics of the plant maintenance, in case of corrective maintenance, we propose a preventive maintenance policy that not only repairs or replaces a single-broken part, but also simultaneously maintains all accessible parts according to the level of overhaul. A case study was conducted to estimate the availability of the system based on the field data of the seawater desalination plant in Korea and Saudi Arabia. The result was close to the expected availability of the plant.
The purpose of this research was to develop healing food dishes for the vitalization of forest healing tourism in agricultural areas by enhancing satisfaction of food experiences by visitors to Mount Chungnyeong, Jangseong. Results from site visitation by three professors from food-related departments, association opinions, Jangseong-gun policies, and research materials relating to healing foods were applied for the preparatory experimental cooking, and the final dishes were selected through a food demonstration event. As a result of observation during the site visitation, the main dishes of the subject restaurant appeared to be limited to Samchae Bibimbap, Samchae Ddeokgabi, and Korean set menu items, revealing a limited selection for tourists and referencing a failure to induce customer attraction and long-term stay. Development of a menu conforming to the image of forest healing at Mount Chungnyeong is desperately needed. As a result of applying the results of the surveys from visitors to Mount Chungnyeong, the types of dishes preferred appeared to be Korean table d'hote and Bibimbap, and pork was preferred as the $entr{\acute{e}}e$. The characteristics of preferred dishes appeared to be based on tradition and regionality. Thus, Forest Healing Savory Dish, Yellow Health Dish, and Samchae Kalguksu applying the policy direction of the Yellow City, Jangseong-gun and the image of Jangseong-gun based on Confucianism were developed. Tourists may further enhance the effectiveness of forest healing through foods based on dishes by adding traditional taste using seasonal food ingredients and local specialties, which can contribute to the vitalization of forest healing tourism.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess thyroid function in breast cancer patients exposed to therapeutic external beam radiation. The focus was on possible progressive changes and any relationships between the incidence of primary hypothyroidism, the time required to become hypothyroid, and factors such as chemotherapy, hormonotherapy and immunotherapy. Materials and Methods: Seventy females undergoing 3D conformal and IMRT radiation therapy for breast cancers were enrolled in a non-randomized prospective study. The patients was divided into two groups: those after mastectomy or breast conserving surgery (BCS) were irradiated to a scar of the chest wall/breast and the ipsilateral supraclavicular and the axillary areas (supraclavicular radiotherapy group - SC-RT group - 32 patients) and the control group receiving adjuvant chest wall/breast RT only (BCT group - 38 patients). The total doses were 50.0 to 70 Gy in 5 to 7 weeks. The median follow-up term was 24 months (range, 1-40 months). Thyroid function was evaluated by measuring thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (fT4), and free triiodothyronine (fT3) levels. The minimum, maximum and mean thyroid gland doses for 20 Gy (V20) were calculated for all patients. Results: Statistically significant results were obtained for the SC-RT group. Two yearsa fter the end of RT the chance of an event was increased in 6% of the population (p=0.009) in the SC-RT group. In the BCT group no significance was noted. No statistically significant differences were found for V20, chemio-, immunotherapy and hormonotherapy or Ki67 values (p=0.12). No significant results were obtained for development of hypothyroidism and clinical factors (age, thyroid volume, treatment modalities). Conclusion: Radiotherapy is associated with a higher incidence of thyroid toxicity in breast cancer patients. Routine thyroid function monitoring should be recommended in such cases.

The Korea Ministry of Environment has established an air quality standard for $PM_{2.5}$ in 2012 and it is effective from January 2015. In this study, we review various aspects of $PM_{2.5}$ in China, including its measurement, modeling, source apportionment, and health effect, and suggest future research directions for $PM_{2.5}$ studies in Korea. Measurements studies for $PM_{2.5}$ have examined organic marker compounds and $^{14}C$ as well as inorganic aerosols for distinguishing sources. Modeling results supported that the control of $PM_{2.5}$ pollution in big city needs effective cooperation between city and its surrounding regions. The major $PM_{2.5}$ sources in China have been identified to be secondary sulfur, motor vehicle emissions, coal combustion, dust, biomass burning, and industrial sources, however, they have seasonal dependency. Especially, the severe haze pollution event during January 2013 over eastern and northern China was driven to a large extent by secondary aerosol formation. Short-term exposure to $PM_{2.5}$ is strongly associated with the increased risk of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, as well as total non-accidental mortality. Considered previous $PM_{2.5}$ studies in China, analysis of specific organic species using online measurement, chamber experiment for secondary aerosol formation mechanism, and development of parameterizing this process in the model are needed to elucidate factors governing the abundance and composition of $PM_{2.5}$ in Korea.
This study, a point rainfall process model, which could represent appropriately observed rainfall data, was to select. The point process models-rectangular pulses Poisson process model(RPPM), Neyman-Scott rectangular pulses Poisson process model(NS-RPPM), and modified Neyman-Scott rectangular pulses Poisson process model(modified NS-RPPM)-all based on Poisson process were considered as possible rainfall models, whose statistical analyses were performed with their simulation rainfall data. As results, simulated rainfall data using the NS-RPPM and the modified NS-RPPM represent appropriately statistics of observed data for several aggregation levels. Also, simulated rainfall data using the modified NS-RPPM shows similar characteristics of rainfall occurrence to the observed rainfall data. Especially, the modified NS-RPPM reproduces high-intensity rainfall events that contribute largely to occurrence of natural harzard such as flood and landslides most similarly. Also, the modified NS-RPPM shows the best results with respect to the total rainfall amount, duration, and inter-event time. In conclusions, the modified NS-RPPM was found to be the most appropriate model for the long-term simulation of rainfall.
The primary focus of this study is to provide a general methodology which can be utilized to understand and analyze environmental issues such as long term ecosystem dynamics and land use/cover change by development of 2D dynamic landscape models and model-based simulation. Change processes in land cover and ecosystem function can be understood in terms of the spatial and temporal distribution of land cover resources. In development of a system to understand major processes of change and obtain predictive information, first of all, spatial heterogeneity is to be taken into account because landscape spatial pattern affects on land cover change and interaction between different land cover types. Therefore, the relationship between pattern and processes is to be included in the research. Landscape modeling requires different approach depending on the definition, assumption, and rules employed for mechanism behind the processes such as spatial event process, land degradation, deforestration, desertification, and change in an urban environment. The rule-based models are described in the paper for land cover change by natural fires. Finally, a case study is presented as an example using spatial modeling and simulation to study and synthesize patterns and processes at different scales ranging from fine-scale to global scale.
Purpose: In Korea, traffic information is collected in real time as part of Intelligent Transportation System to enhance efficiency of road operation. However, traffic information based on real-time data is different from the traffic situation the driver will experience. Method: In this study, forecasts were made for future highway traffic by day and time period by adjusting the Archived data reference days to 3, 5 and 10 days based on existing traffic Archived data. Results: Fewer days of reference in the past showed smaller errors. The prediction of Monday based on five past histories showed greater errors than the 10 past histories, as the traffic flow on the sixth Monday of 2016 was somewhat different from the usual holiday. Conclution: This study shows that less of the reference days of the past history when estimating traffic volume, the more accurate the data of the traffic history of the event can be used on special days.
Runoff ratio of paddy fields for the application of Event Mean Concentration (EMC) method was studied. To measure actual runoff ratio of paddy fields, a field monitoring was conducted for 2008 ~ 2009 period. Long-term rainfall data of four cities in major river basins were analyzed and weighting factors were developed to consider temporal and spatial variation of rainfall distribution of Korean peninsula. The observed runoff ratio ranged 0.00 ~ 1.20 and arithmetic mean were 0.25, respectively. However, the representative runoff ratio for paddy fields was determined as 0.41 according to the method suggested by National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER).
