Parental Attitudes and mediation of Children's Video Viewing (유아의 비디오 시청에 있어 부모의 태도 및 관여에 대한 연구)

  • Parental attitudes and mediation of children's television viewing has focused primarily on broadcast television, although recent developments in technology have greatly expanded the availability of VCRs in home environment. To build a more comprehensive model of parental mediation of TV Viewing in the new video environment, this article analyzed parental attitudes toward children's video viewing and factors associated with parental mediation of children's video viewing using questionnaire responses from 659 mothers of four to six-year-old children. Both restrictive and evaluative parental mediation were associated with not only parental factors but also contextual factors. Descriptive data on parental attitudes and mediation of children's video viewing were also presented.

  • The properties of a machine tool greatly affect machining quality since a machine tool has large variance in its features. Machine tool makers want to find best machining condition with the one that they have built. Machine builders need to develop test specimen since it helps finding characteristics of machine tools when the machining properties of the specimen are analyzed. This paper develops test specimen to identify features of the main spindle, the feeding device, and the frame of a machine tool. The specimen is machined with a high speed machine and the features of the machine are analyzed with test items. They are surface roughness, overshoot in axial movement, errors in circular movement, feeding with small movement, and compensational error. This work can improve usability for a machine tool in machining practice.

A study on the sensibility of body exposure in contemporary fashion (현대패션에 나타난 인체노출의 감성연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the sensibility of body exposure in contemporary fashion. 31 kinds of costume samples have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines. Those were divided into part of exposed body, the way of exposure and kinds of exposure. I have measured them by using Semantic Differential method. The subjects were 120 male and 120 female in twenties. The obtained data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, MDS and regression analysis. The results of analysis are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted four factors which consist of the sensibility of body exposure. These factors are Attraction, Activity, Boldness, Simplicity. 2. There were significant differences in design of body exposure and demographics. 3. Evaluative dimensions of the sensibility of body exposure were identified by Hard-Soft, Active-Elegant. 4. Preference was related to words which are buying desirable, attractive, simple, natural, active appealed by design of body exposure costume and buying desirable was related to words which are favorite, modest, beautiful, natural appealed by mood of exposure costume.

A Study on Sensibility of Formative Properties in Clothing Design (의복디자인의 조형적 특성에 따른 감성연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the visual sensibility and the decorative design of clothing. 41 kinds of costume samples have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines under detail and trimming, and divided into three types according to line, shape, and form. I have measured these images by using Semantic Differential method. The obtained data were analyzed by factor analysis ANOVA, discriminant analysis, regression analysis and MDS. The results of analysis are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted five factors which consist of decorative design sensibility. These factors are Attractiveness, Hardness and Softness, Rhythm, Decorativeness, Cuteness. 2. There were significant differences in visual evaluation of decorative design and demographics 3. The discrimination among formative designs was closely related to decorative image, especially between line and form. 4. The Image effect on Preference, Buying needs, Riches and Pleasant was consist of complicated sensibility. 5. Evaluative dimensions of decorative design were identified by Simple-Complicated, Cubic -Plane perceptive image differed in degree of similarity in spite of same formative design.

  • An understanding of consumers' evaluative processes and the consumer variables that influence cross-cultural evaluations of foreign products is essential to effectively penetrate international markets. This study compared consumers in two developing countries, Korea and Mexico, regarding their product evaluations and purchase intentions for US Levi's jeans. Both Korean and Mexican consumers are generally quality and price conscious. Korean consumers appeared to be more value-conscious than Mexican consumers. Mexican consumers exhibited high level of brand and prestige conscious behavior. Findings in this study support that culture bound consumer characteristics vary from country to country resulting in differences in perception of quality, value and purchase intentions for a particular product. The perception of product quality differs from perception of value and subsequent willingness to buy. For a comprehensive understanding of consumer purchase behavior, the impact of value-conscious attitude on percetion of quality and on purchase intentions should be examined.

A Study on the Visual Evaluation about Combination of Contrary Clothing Image (상반되는 의복이미지의 조합에 따른 시각적 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of visual evaluation about combination of contrary clothing image, Elegance-Casual, Ethnic-Modern. The data were collected using 23 semantic differential hi-polar scale questionnaires from 50 female students majoring in clothing and textile and analyzed by Factor analysis, ANOVA, Discriminant analysis and MDS. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. As a result of factor analysis, 4 factors -Attractiveness, Casualness, Moderateness, Modernness-were found out as constructing factors of contrary clothing image. 2. For the visual evaluation of contrary clothing image combined with top and bottom, there were significant differences in all factors. 3. As a result of discriminant analysis, discrimination among images was more closely related to renovated image by combination of contrary clothing image. 4. As a result of MDS, evaluative dimensions of contrary clothing image were identified, and relationship between clothing images and special qualities of design was shown on positioning map.

The Study of Purchase Behaviors of Foreign-Brand Formal Wear (국외상표의 정장의류에 대한 구매행동 연구)

  • The purposes of the present study were (1) to examine the differences between the experienced group in buying foreign-brand formal wear and the non-experienced group in terms of demographic characteristics, clothing expenditures, and purchase behaviors of formal wear, and (2) to investigate the purchase behaviors of and the extent of post-purchase satisfaction to foreign-brand formal wears for purchase group of foreign-brand formal wear. By using questionnaire consisting of 20 questions, data were collected from 754 female consumers in age range of 20~59. Chi-square analysis and t-test were used for data analysis. Significant differences were found between the groups in educational levels, monthly clothing expenditures, monthly household income, the number of formal wear purchased per season, store patronage, items often purchased, perceived proper price per item, and criteria for selecting stores and evaluating products. The group with experiences in purchasing foreign-brand formal wear showed high satisfaction levels with the quality of foreign-brand formal wears. When buying foreign-brand formal wears, the experienced group considered styles and color as important evaluative criteria, and favored stores having sales with wide assortmetsn.

A Conceptual Framework for the Gift Giving in Consumer Behavior Research (선물증여의 개념에 관한 이론적 고찰)

  • Gift giving is usually conducted at festive days, Christmas or Parent's day. When consumers purchase gifts, they have some troubles about efficiency and economy of gifts. The issues about gifts purchase also involve the conceptualizing and establishing evaluative measure of gifts. In order to solve some problems concerning to gift giving, it is necessary to define the concept of gift giving above all. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to establish the concept of gift giving in heop of the study of anthropology and sociology about the beginning of gifts. And it attempts to review on gift giving in the field of consumer behavior. So, first this article proposes that the core concept of gift giving is a reciprocity. It means the obligatory system performed among small groups or individuals. Second, in order to analize the gift giving process, it needs to involve important variables-gift occasion and motivation of gift giving, and intimacy relationship.

  • This paper presetns an adaptive critic self-learning control system with cerebellar model articulation controller (CMAC)-based decoder integrated with the associative search element (ASE) and adatpive critic element(ACE)- based scheme. The tast of the system is to balance a pole that is hinged to a movable cart by applying forces to the cart's base. The problem is that error feedback information is limited. This problem can be sloved when some adaptive control devices are involved. The ASE incorporates prediction information for reinforrcement from a critic to produce evaluative information for the plant. The CMAC-based decoder interprets one state to a set of patways into the ASE/ACE. These signals correspond to te current state and its possible preceding action states. The CMAC's information interpolation improves the learning speed. And design inverted pendulum hardware system to show control capability with neural network.

The Empirical Study for Well-Being and Healthy Living of the Korean Elderly

  • The old people's feelings, emotions, and self-evaluative judgements fluctuate overtime. The purpose of this paper is to proof relations among well-being factors in social activity. Major results of this paper was as follows. First, the social activity participated elderly had higher health status, self-esteem, mental-health, and successful aging than the non-participated elderly. Second, self-esteem and mental health were exposed as important variable for all of the two groups to improve the successful aging. Thus, self-esteem and mental health can become significant indicator of self-empowering and psychological resilience. Third, the strongest total causal effect of successful aging was health status in social activity participated elderly, while self-esteem was the greatest total causal effect of it in the non-participated elderly. Health status had higher indirect effect of successful aging than direct effect of it in both of them.
