During the period, ① what is the view of family? ② what are the actual sapects and characteristics of married couple ethics? ③ what are the actual aspects and characteristics of the ethics between parents and their children? The results of this study are as follows; ① The indispensable requisite of the parents is a son who functions as the tool for enhancing social position of their family rather than succession of them. The nuclear family is regraded ideal, but the concept of nuclear family of them is far different from that of western. ② The married couples accepts the given couple relations in the name of bringing up their children. The ideal image of wife is traditional wifely virtues and that of husband is ability of making money. ③ The parents emphasize education and success of their children for enhancing the social position of their family, while they still require some degree of moral standards to their children. The parents believe that the best filial piety is making good lives of their children's own, which is somewhat different from the traditional filial piety norm.

  • This study started from a critical review of the current problem of ethics education in engineering colleges, how it has become stereotyped and perfunctory and hence, is failing to properly foster engineers with a sense of responsibility. Existing engineering ethics education occupies a very limited role and weight in the periphery of the engineering curriculum, unable to hold a central position. This situation is of grave concern, especially when the leadership of engineers with social and professional responsibility is of great importance. Therefore, this study explored new directions and strategies for engineering ethics education while reviewing domestic and foreign studies dealing with the current status and problems of engineering ethics education. First, this study discussed the need for and direction of shifting to ethical engineering education instead of ethics education centered on liberal arts courses. Second, this study presented specific practical strategies to construct the ethical engineering curriculum. For example, it is necessary to establish the ethical engineering curriculum with an education linking ethics with human development goals, ethics education using Korea's current issues and agendas, micro- and macro-level analysis related to engineering, and leadership education.

  • Nationalism endorses a collective movement to establish an authentic position in the international cultural and political arena. Arguably the dialectic of nationalism and geopolitics bears a reassuring similarity to the philosophical lineage going back, at least, to Hegelian dialectic of universality and particularity. This dialectic platform has been concerned with sustaining, among other things, the dynamics between the universal and the particular. In practical terms, nationalism prompts increased sensitivity to socio-political pressures coming from abroad to cancel the national particularity into geopolitical, so-called universal, anonymity. Drawing suggestively from psychoanalysis, Lacanian ethics in particular, this discussion articulates the ethics of nationalism. Recounting Kantian self-determination as a reference point for responsible morality, Lacan suggests the problematics of desire as an alternative index for ethics. As individual desire flows from the unfathomable abyss of misrecognition, Lacanian ethics dissuade individuals to unlearn the fantasy that their own real desire, a residue produced by the Symbolic process, can be satisfied with that very socio-cultural Symbolic. Subjecting nationalism to Lacanian implications, Zizek illuminates nationalism as a small screening object which obscures as much as displays the circuits to the individual desire. Psychoanalytic ethics addresses that the ethical base should be found upon the particular, individual, real desire. As far as the nationalist cause also puts emphasis upon particularity rather than universality, nationalism is logically positioned to exert reflective efforts on empowering its constitutive individuals. Lacanian ethics persuades us to challenge the universal claim and to work through to regenerate nationalism in presenting its final contribution towards individual particularities.

  • In this thesis, the author will examine how modern philosophical expression manifests in the field of ethics based on Kant's Ethics. The author will critically assess whether Kant's Ethics is an appropriate rational theoretical alternative to overcome today's ecological crisis. In the first section, the author lists the characteristics of modernity. The purpose of this section is to show why Kant's Ethics must be understood in the context of modern age and how his ethics expresses the ideology of the modernity(I). In the second section, the author will analyze the challenge Kant's Ethics face in relation to ecological crisis from the context of dualism between person and thing(II). In the last section, the author will inspect the flaw of Kant's Ethics based on his positive position regarding vicarious duties toward animals, and pose the basic direction of the theory of ecological publicness that can overcome the limits of Kant's Ethics in the context of a critical reconstruction of neo-confucian tradition(III).
