In Korea, the frequency of soil disasters has soared recently due to increased torrential rains caused by abnormal weather conditions. In particular, soil generated from mountainous areas is flowing into small rivers along valleys, depositing rivers and adding to flood damage. In order to prevent damage from such soil disasters, it is important to predict sediments and to quantitatively identify bed load. In this work, we conducted an experiment to indirectly measure acoustic sensor-based bed load collision sounds using pipe hydrophones, and compared them with raw data by applying denoising methods to improve the reliability of the measured data. As a result, we derive results in a more clear analysis of bed load estimation by correcting noise when the denoising method is applied to raw data.
The blasting has a lot of economic efficiency and speediness but it can damage to a neighbor structure, a domestic animal and a cultured fish due to the blasting vibration, then the public grievance is increased. Therefore, we need to manage the blasting vibration efficiently. The prediction of the correct vibration velocity is not easy because there are lots of different kinds of the scale of blasting vibration and it has a number of a variable effect. So we figure the optimum line through the least-squares regression by using the vibration data measured in hard rock blasting and compared with the design vibration prediction equation. As a result, we confirm that the vibration estimated in this paper is bigger than the design vibration prediction equation in the same charge and distance. If there is a Gaussian normal distribution data on the left-right side of the least squares regression, then we can estimate the vibration prediction equation on reliability 50%(
Wave measurements using X-band radar have many advantages compared to other wave gauges including wave-rider buoy, P-u-v gauge and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), etc.. For example, radar system has no risk of loss/damage in bad weather conditions, low maintenance cost, and provides spatial distribution of waves from deep to shallow water. This paper presents new methods for estimating significant wave heights of X-band marine radar images using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). We compared the time series of estimated significant wave heights (Hs) using various estimation methods, such as signal-to-noise ratio (
Since blasting noise is impact noise, it will give a sudden shock to the human. In the case, such as the blast vibration, it has given aging buildings and livestock great damage to move the vibration along ground in nearby regions. In this study, the influence of the blasting generated during excavation was analyzed for effects on regional. A couple of field and laboratory surveys about geological were carried out to figure out the geological ratio in the study-performed area. Blast vibration noise was compared to the domestic and abroad case studies and each of the institutions permissible standards established the most appropriate criteria in site condition. The vibration velocity of blasting vibration exploits the values which were measured from test blasting on the ground in order to examine blasting effect. Considering the blasting point as the shortest distance from safety facilities (farms, private houses, etc.), the examination of the influence range, which was derived from the vibration velocity of blasting vibration, was performed to figure out how the point affected the safety facilities. Three-dimensional numerical analysis was performed a time history analysis in order to analyze the behavior of the structure for a dynamic blast load, which was determined in three directions of the blast vibration value. The results of three-dimensional numerical analysis and the blasting effect of blasting vibration estimation equation blasting vibration of impact circle with accompanying test blasting were compared. And the analysis confirmed similar results figures.
While it is important to obtain the accurate information on snowfall data due to the increase in damage caused by the heavy snowfall in the winter season, it is not easy to observe the snowfall quantitatively. Recently, snow measurements using a weighing precipitation gauge have been carried out, but there is a problem that high snowfall intensity results in low accuracy. Also, the observed snowfall data are sensitive depending on wind speed, temperature, and humidity. In this study, a new process of quality control for snow water equivalent (SWE) data of the weighing precipitation gauge were proposed to cover the low accuracy of snow data and maximize the data utilization. Snowfall data (SWE) observed by Pluvio, Parsivel, snow-depth meter using laser or ultrasonic, and rainfall gauge in Cloud Physics Observation Site (CPOS) were compared and analyzed. Applying the QC algorithm including the use of number of hydrometeor particles as reference, the increased SWE per the unit time was determined and the data noise was removed and marked by flag. The SWE data converted by the number concentration of hydrometeor particles are tested as a method to restore the QC-removed data, and show good agreement with those of the weighing precipitation gauge, though requiring more case studies. The three events data for heavy snowfall disaster in Pyeongchang area was analyzed. The SWE data with improved quality was showed a good correlation with the eye-measured data (
The gas turbine static starter rotates the stationary synchronous machine by the interaction of the rotor and the stator. The detection from the initial position of the rotor has been an important issue to drive with optimum torque. Previously, the gas turbine starter was used by attaching the encoder to the synchronous machine, but the position and velocity of the rotor have been estimated by sensor-less method until recently due to the difficulty in attaching and detaching and damage caused by the shaft voltage noise. In this paper, Rotor initial(stationary state) position estimation, forced commutation control(speed less than 10%), and natural commutation control(speed more than 10%) method using magnetic flux with integrated terminal voltage were presented and the sensor-less speed control performance was verified. As a result of making and evaluating the 29 kVA synchronous machine and the starting device, the performance of each control mode was satisfactory. Furthermore, the applied technology is expected to be used for the development of the gas turbine starter of tens of MW class and the field application.
It is very essential to estimate the water body area using remote exploration for water resource management, analysis and prediction of water disaster damage. Hydrophysical detection using satellites has been mainly performed on large satellites equipped with optical and SAR sensors. However, due to the long repeat cycle, there is a limitation that timely utilization is impossible in the event of a disaster/disaster. With the recent active development of Micro satellites, it has served as an opportunity to overcome the limitations of time resolution centered on existing large satellites. The Micro satellites currently in active operation are ICEYE in Finland and Capella satellites in the United States, and are operated in the form of clusters for earth observation purposes. Due to clustering operation, it has a short revisit cycle and high resolution and has the advantage of being able to observe regardless of weather or day and night with the SAR sensor mounted. In this study, the operation status and characteristics of micro satellites were described, and the water area estimation technology optimized for micro SAR satellite images was applied to the Daecheong Dam basin on the Korean Peninsula. In addition, accuracy verification was performed based on the reference value of the water generated from the optical satellite Sentinel-2 satellite as a reference. In the case of the Capella satellite, the smallest difference in area was shown, and it was confirmed that all three images showed high correlation. Through the results of this study, it was confirmed that despite the low NESZ of Micro satellites, it is possible to estimate the water area, and it is believed that the limitations of water resource/water disaster monitoring using existing large SAR satellites can be overcome.
Recently, around the world, active development of new renewable energy sources including solar power, waves, and fuel cells, etc. has taken place. Particularly, floating offshore wind farms have been developed for saving costs through large scale production, using high-quality wind power and minimizing noise damage in the ocean area. The development of floating wind farms requires an evaluation of the Maritime Safety Audit Scheme under the Maritime Safety Act in Korea. Floating wind farms shall be assessed by applying the line and area concept for systematic development, management and utilization of specified sea water. The development of appropriate evaluation methods and standards is also required. In this study, proper standards for marine traffic surveys and assessments were established and a systemic treatment was studied for assessing marine spatial area. First, a marine traffic data collector using AIS or radar was designed to conduct marine traffic surveys. In addition, assessment methods were proposed such as historical tracks, traffic density and marine traffic pattern analysis applying the line and area concept. Marine traffic density can be evaluated by spatial and temporal means, with an adjusted grid-cell scale. Marine traffic pattern analysis was proposed for assessing ship movement patterns for transit or work in sea areas. Finally, conceptual design of a Marine Traffic and Safety Assessment Solution (MaTSAS) was competed that can be analyzed automatically to collect and assess the marine traffic data. It could be possible to minimize inaccurate estimation due to human errors such as data omission or misprints through automated and systematic collection, analysis and retrieval of marine traffic data. This study could provides reliable assessment results, reflecting the line and area concept, according to sea area usage.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
