In this study, listening errors by Korean EFL learners are comprehensively analyzed from self-paced passage dictation tasks. Fifty-five Korean EFL learners participated in the study. Listeners were asked to write down dictation passages as accurately as possible, while listening to the audio as much as they needed. The results show that (i) low-proficiency learners tend to misperceive longer phrases than high-proficiency learners, (ii) function words are more often omitted or misheard than content words, and (iii) low-proficiency learners have more difficulties with content words than high-proficiency learners do. Most frequent suffix errors were omissions of past or plural suffixes. Among the function words, the most frequent errors were found with auxiliary contractions, infinitive marker to, and articles, mostly in the environment of linking and elision. It is also shown that C-V linking, C-C linking, and elision are the primary sources for the most frequent errors. C-V linking led to errors in correctly locating the word boundary, while C-C linking and elision resulted in omission. These errors show that Korean EFL listeners have difficulties in detecting fine-grained phonetic details to the extent that native speakers can do.

When carrying out computer programming, the process of checking and correcting errors in the source code is essential work for the completion of the program. Non-computer majors who are learning programming for the first time receive feedback from instructors to correct errors that occur when writing the source code. However, in a learning environment where the time for the learner to practice alone is long, such as an online learning environment, the learner starts to feel many difficulties in solving program errors by himself/herself. Therefore, training on how to check and correct errors after writing the program source code is necessary. In this paper, various types of errors that can occur in a Python program were described, the errors were classified into simple errors and complex errors according to the characteristics of the errors, and the distributions of errors by Python grammar category were analyzed. In addition, a coding learning process to refer error lists was designed to present a coding learning method that enables learners to solve program errors by themselves.
In this research, we investigated the effect of three visual feedback conditions (direct viewing, one-monitor viewing, and tow-monitors viewing) on the task performance of human operator in teloperation task. The three different level of task difficulties under each concitions were performed by thirty-six subjects. The result of the experiments was analysed by the task difficulties, and the measurements of performance are the task completion time and the frequency of task errors. In a teleoperator, the participation of a human operator is always required, and the man-machine interface and the operator's abilities is an important issue. Recently, the different types of sensory feedback conditions(force, vision, sound, tactile, etc) for teleoperation is a very active research area in ergonomics. Among them, visual feedback conditon is an important sense that can provide the information of task environment. Therefore, the sufficient understandings and investigation for human ability under various visual feedback conditions is required to establish the efficient man-machine interface of teleoperation. The result showed that the visual feecback conditions and the level of task difficulties have a significant effect on the task performance. For three level of task difficulties, the task completion time was the shortest under the condition of direct viewing. The number of task errors under the conditions of direct viewing and two-monitors viewing were reduced by more than half compare to that of one-monitor viewing.
Multiple choice items have been widely used. However the difficulties in understanding and solving the items have not been known well. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties and errors in the process of solving multiple choice items. Twelve multiple choice items were developed based on the Unit 5 Separation of Mixtures in the 4th grade. Four items which students had hardly given the correct answer were selected and six students were chosen for interview. Interview results were analyzed with regard to the errors in the process of solving the multiple choice items. The findings of this study are as follows: I) The students who misread and misunderstand the questions choose the incorrect answers. 2) Most of the students activate daily knowledge in the process of problem solving. 3) The students who have misconception with the daily knowledge or have no experiences choose incorrect answers, while students who activate both daily knowledge and school knowledge choose correct answer. 4) The students of high level commit errors mainly in the latter part of problem solving process, but the students of low level do from early.
We solve the inverse kinematics problems in robotics by employing a neural network. In the practical situation. it is not easy to obtain the exact inverse kinematics solution, since there are many unforeseen errors such as the shift of a robot base the link's bending, et c. Hence difficulties follow in the trajectory planning. With the neural network, it is possible to train the robot motion so that the robot follows the desired trajectory without errors even under the situation where the unexpected errors are involved. In this work, Back-Propagation rule is used as a learning method.

Higher grade elementary school students who have superior cognitive abilities need education of basic principles of computer or programming rather than computer in education. In this study, all the errors occurring while elementary school students wrote and executed programs were collected. in the method of predicting and dealing with possible-to-occur problems on programming education of the higher grades (4th, 5th and 6th grades) during their optional special activities or during talent aptitude activities after school, classified by type and analyzed. If the errors analyzed are put to practical use, optimal programming curriculums could be written and such curriculums could be a great contribution to induction of learning effect and interest on teaching learning. It was found by analyzing the errors collected for this study that the most of elementary school students during programming felt difficulties in simple errors by poor use of software and in simple coding by poor use of reserved words in English. In the next, students occurred errors by difficulties in understanding grammar. It was exposed that these error types were the opposite phenomena to those analyzed by commercial software developing companies, however, it is predicted that if teaching learning is setting improved, the same phenomena could be found desirably.
In this study, we hope to reveal teacher knowledge necessary to address student errors and difficulties about ratio and rate. The instruments and interview were administered to 3 in-service primary teachers with various education background and teaching experiments. The results of this study are as follows. Specialized content knowledge(SCK) consists of profound knowledge about ratio and rate beyond multiplicative comparison of two quantities and professional knowledge about the definitions of textbook. Knowledge of content and students(KCS) is the ability to recognize students' understanding the concept and the representation about ratio and rate. Knowledge of content and teaching(KCT) is made up of knowledge about various context and visual models for understanding ratio and rate.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the errors and difficulties which pre-service secondary teachers shows during the task modification in consideration of the cognitive demand and to provide significant implications to the pre-service teacher education program related to the modification of the mathematical tasks. In the pursuit of this purpose, tasks were selected from perpendicular bisector units and 24 pre-service teachers were asked to modify the tasks to higher and lower level tasks. After the modification activities, opportunities for reflection and modification were provided. The findings from analysis are as follows. Pre-service teachers had a difficulty to distinguish between PNC tasks and PWC tasks. Also, We identified the interference phenomena that pre-service teachers depended on the apparent elements of the task. Pre-service teachers showed a tendency to overlook the learning objectives and learning hierarchy during the task modification, and to focus on some types of task modification. However, pre-service teachers were able to have meaningful learning opportunities and extend the category of tools to technology including Geogebra through self-reflection and correction activities on task modification. The above results were summed up and we presented the implications to the task modification program in the pre-service secondary teacher education.

When an almost flat surface under test is measured by an interferometer, the measurement result is largely influenced by systematic errors that include geometrical errors of a reference flat surface. To determine the systematic errors of the interferometer by the conventional method that is called the three flat method, we must take the reference flat surface out from the interferometer and measure it. Because of difficulties to set the reference flat surface to the interferometer exactly and quickly, this method is not practical. On the other hand, the method that measures a surface under test with some shifts in the direction being perpendicular to the optical axis of the interferometer is studied. However, the parasitic pitching, rolling and up-down movement caused by the above shifts brings serious error to the measurement result, and the algorithm by which the influences can be eliminated is not still established. In this paper, we propose the self-calibration algorithm for determining the systematic errors that include geometrical errors of a reference flat surface by several rotation shifts and a linear shift of general surface under test, and verify by a numerical experiment that this algorithm is useful for determining the systematic errors.
In this study, we consider the informal and formal definition of limit on the basis of middle and high school curriculum, and then analyze the reason of difficulties experienced when sophomores learn the formal definition(${\epsilon}-{\delta}$ procedure) of limit. We conducted teaching of the formal definition of limit with sophomores and analyzed their errors which were appeared when they applied to limits problems. In addition, we try to improve the understanding of ${\epsilon}-{\delta}$ procedure of the limit taught in analysis.
