사방시공지(砂防施工地) 식물사회(植物社會)의 생태학적(生態學的) 변화(變化)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(II) - 경기(京畿), 여주지역(驪州地域)을 중심(中心)으로 - (Studies on the Ecological Changes in the Plant Community of the Erosion Controlled Area at Yoju-Gun, Kyonggi-Do)

  • 경기도(京畿道) 여주지역(驪州地域)의 사방시공(砂防施工) 후(後) 식물사회(植物社會)의 생태학적(生態學的) 변화에 대하여 검토하였다. 그 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 사방시공지(砂防施工地)(시공(施工) 후(後) 3년에서 14년까지)의 토양(土壤) 유기물층(有機物層) 증가(增加)는 $Y_{(cm)}=0.436X_{(yr)}-0.931$(r=0.978), 02 층(層)의증가(增加)는 $Y_{(cm)}=0.339_{(yr)}-0.931$(r=0.954)로 추정(推定)되었다. 2. 상층식생(上層植生)에 있어서 오리나무류(類)가 각 조사구에서 평균적(平均的)으로 상대피도(相對被度)는 32%, 상대밀도(相對密度)는 12.4%, 상대빈도(相對頻度)는 16.8%가 감소되었다. 이는 여주(驪州) 지역이 2-3년 사이에 오리나무 잎벌레의 피해 때문에 나타난 결과이다. 3. 상층식생(上層植生) 있어서 소나무류(類)의 상대빈도(相對頻度)는 사방(砂防) 시공(施工) 6, 7년 후(後)에 증가되고, 그리고 시공후(施工後) 10년에서 14년사이에는 40% 이상을 차지하는 우점종(優點種)의 수종(樹種)이 되었다. 4. 상층식생(上層植生)에 있어서, 사방시공(砂防施工) 당시 파종(播種)되거나 식재(植栽)되지 않은 참나무류(類)의 상대빈도(相對頻度)가 모든 조사지에서 증가 되었다. 5. 전(全) 수종(樹種)의 수관투영면적(樹冠投影面的) 증가(增加)는 $Y_{(m^2)}=18.020X_{(yr)}+18.834$ (r=0.954)로 추정(推定)된다. 6. 6(年) 후(後)의 Biomass는 14.88t/ha, 8년(年) 후(後)는 22.84t/ha, 10년(年) 후(後)는 35.08t/ha, 12년(年) 후(後)는 47.80t/ha, 14년(年) 후(後)는 58.13t/ha이다.

도시생활권의 토석류 피해 저감을 위한 복합형 사방댐의 안정성 및 기능성 평가 (Evaluating Stability and Functionality of Hybrid Erosion Control Dam for Reducing Debris Flow Damage in Forested Catchment Nearby Urban Area)

  • 본 연구는 도시생활권의 특성을 고려한 재해예방용 사방댐을 개발하고, 현장에서의 활용성을 검토하기 위하여 안정성 및 기능성을 평가하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 필러와 바닥스크린을 활용한 토석류 방재댐과 수제를 활용한 토석류 제어댐 등 복합형 사방댐 2종을 개발하였고, 각 구조물의 정적(활동, 전도, 지지) 및 동적(부재력) 안정성을 검토하였다. 그 결과, 각 검토항목별로 충격력에 대한 안정성에 미달하는 경우도 일부 나타났으나, 대부분 항목에서 기준 안전율을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개발된 사방댐을 토대로 축소모형을 제작하여 수로실험을 실시한 결과, 사방댐을 설치하지 않은 대조구에 비교하여 유하물의 퇴적범위와 퇴적속도를 감소시켰고, 포착율은 평균적으로 3.5배 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 추후 수행될 다양한 조건에서의 수로실험 결과를 바탕으로 개발된 도시생활권형 사방댐의 기능을 보다 정량적으로 구체화 할 수 있다면, 이를 도시생활권에 활용하여 산지토사재해 피해를 효과적으로 저감할 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다.

Novel Brazing법에 의한 Al의 공정접합에 관한 연구 (A Study of Eutectic Bonding for Aluminium using Novel Brazing Process)

  • To investigate the optimum brazing condition, variation of bonded structure and mechanical properties of novel brazed pure Al with bonding condition (brazing temperature, time and Si/flux ratio) was studied. A basic study of the bonding mechanism was also examined. The optimum brazing condition was obtained at $590^{\circ}$ for 2 minutes and the bonded structure showed that it is composed of almost entirely eutectic Al-Si with near eutectic composition. At higher brazing temperature $630^{\circ}$, hypoeutectic Al-Si structure was observed in the bonded area and resulted in erosion of base metal. The thickness of eutectic layer formed in optimum brazing temperature increased linearly with the square root of time, showing a general diffusion controlled process. The ultimate tensile strength of bonded joint brazed at an optimum brazing condition was about 60% of base metal and its fracture surface showed a brittle mode.

화강암지역의 산림환경 및 도로구조인자가 임도의 안정성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Forest Environmental Factors and Forest Road Structures on the Stability of Forest Road in Granite Areas)

  • To investigate the influence of forest road characteristics and site conditions on the stability of forest-road in granite area, four forest roads had been selected in Kyongbuk regions. The total of 13 road characteristic variables were evaluated by the discriminant analysis. The factors influencing the stability of forest road were bed rock, slope length, coverage, hardness, side-ditch erosion and road width. But aspect and soil texture were not significant for the stability in this area. In the correlation between forest environment and road structure, hardness and bed rock was highly significant in stability group, and coverage and side-ditch erosion was highly significant in instability group. 75 of 175 segments were instable whereas the others were stable. The centroids value by discriminant function in the stability and instability were estimated to 3.0585 and -1.9116, respectively. The stability criterion of forest road was discriminated from the centroids value of the each group. The main factors contributing the stability of forest road were significant in order of side-ditch erosion, coverage, soil texture, elevation, gradient, slope length and construction year. The prediction rate of discriminant function for stability evaluation of forest road was as high as 97.44%. In conclusion, the forest road structure factors such as length, coverage and slope gradient were controlled by construction techniques. If the factors like those should be considered in design, construction and forest road management, the stability of forest road may increase more. And also, it is necessary to take slope protection measures like small terraces and retaining walls for stability of cut slope.

일본 Chichibu산지 계반림의 입지환경 (Riparian forest and environment variables relationships, Chichibu mountains, central, Japan)

  • In most mountainous parts of the temperate zone of Japan along the Pacific Ocean, some climatic climax forests, whose main dominant species is Fagus crenate, F. japonica or Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata, are distributed. In the riparian regions of the zone, however, there appear summer green forests composed of the different species from the climatic climax forests. Climate plays an important role in determining the overall distribution of vegetation, but some environmental factors, i.e., topography, soil type, soil moisture content, etc. have a great influence on vegetation formation. Riparian forests seem to be controlled by various geomorphologic disturbances, such as landslide, soil erosion and accumulation. The study aims to present the relationships among vegetation, soils and landforms in the process of determining riparian forests dominated by Fraxinus platypoda and Pterocarya rhoifolia establishment in the mountainous region of central Japan. The study area extends an area of 302 ha with a range of elevation between 925 m and 1,681 m at the Chichibu mountains. The landforms were corditied at sampling grids (25 $\times$ 25 m, n = 4,843) using a hierarchical system, and a brief description of the forest soil classification was also given. The mutual relationship analysis indicated that forest soils and landforms play a significant role in determining the geomorphological process of riparian forest, and shaping the ultimate pattern of vegetation. At the study area, riparian forests were mainly found on the $B_E$ forest soil type and steep slopes ( > 30$^{\circ}$) at convex slopes along the streams. On the other hand, the direction of slopes did not have a significant impact on the establishment of the riparian forests. A mosaic of patchy distribution of those riparian forests on the slightly wetter $B_E$ forest soil type was one of the characteristic features of the study area. This particular soil which contained large talus gravels was found on the land formed by erosion and deposition of landslide.

산림자원 및 산림의 공익기능량 추정을 위한 시스템다이내믹스 모형 개발 (Development of a System Dynamics Model For Estimating the Volume of Forest Resources and Function of Public Benefit)

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a System Dynamics model for estimating the volume of forest resources in the future and simulating the volume of function of public benefit linked to forest resources in dynamic manner. Also it is to analyze the impact when the volume of forest land conversion is controlled by policy using the SD model. The analysis was done at nation-wide for the simulation period 2000 to 2040. Estimated forest area was 6.2 million ha and estimated growing stock was $4.7\;billion\;m^3$ in 2040 from the future forecast without policies. Changing of forest resources, 13.9 billion tons of forest-ground-water storage was estimated, $1.8\;million\;m^3$ of erosion control of forest was estimated and 377 million tons of $CO_2$ absorption was estimated. As a result of simulation with two alternatives, forest area was less reduced and growing stock was bigger than do nothing policy. Also, function of public benefit reflected by changes of forest resources was enhanced. This study contributes to estimate the quantitatively measured volume of forest resources and function of public benefit over the 30 years in Korean forest land in scientific way. Using this SD model, decision maker would develop forest land policies more delicately for deserving forest resources and increasing the volume of function of public.

Correlations between the Growth Period and Fresh Weight of Seed Sprouts and Pixel Counts of Leaf Area

  • Purpose: This study was carried out to predict the growth period and fresh weight of sprouts grown in a cultivator designed to grow sprouts under optimal conditions. Methods: The temperature, light intensity, and amount of irrigation were controlled, and images of seed sprouts were acquired to predict the days of growth and weight from pixel counts of leaf area. Broccoli, clover, and radish sprouts were selected, and each sprout was cultivated in a 90-mm-diameter Petri dish under the same cultivating conditions. An image of each sprout was taken every 24 hours from the 4th day, and the whole cultivating period was 6 days, including 3 days in the dark. Images were processed by histogram inspection, binary images, image erosion, image dilation, and the overlay image process. The RGB range and ratio of leaves were adjusted to calculate the pixel counts for leaf area. Results: The correlation coefficients between the pixel count of leaf area and the growth period of sprouts were 0.91, 0.98, and 0.97 for broccoli, clover, and radish, respectively. Further, the correlation coefficients between the pixel count of leaf area and fresh weight were 0.90 for broccoli, 0.87 for clover, and 0.95 for radish. Conclusions: On the basis of these results, we suggest that the simple image acquisition system and processing algorithm can feasibly estimate the growth period and fresh weight of seed sprouts.

한국의 호수 수질관리의 문제점 (Problems of lake water management in Korea)

  • In Korea most of annual rainfall is concentrated in several episodic heavy rains during the season of summer monsoon and typhoon. Because of uneven rainfall distribution many dams have been constructed in order to secure water supply in dry seasons. The Han River system has the most dams among Korean rivers, and the river is a series of dams now. Reservoirs need different strategy of water quality control from river water. Autochthonous organic matter and phosphorus should be the major target to be controlled in lakes. In this Paper some problems are discussed that makes efforts of water quality improvement ineffective in lakes of Korea, even after the substantial investment to wastewater treatment facilities.1) Phosphorus is the key factor controlling eutrophication of lakes and the reduction ofphosphors should be the major target of water treatment. However, water quality management strategy in Korea is still stream-oriented, and focused on BOD removal from sewage. Phosphorus removal efficiency remains as low as 10-30%, because biological treatment is adopted for both secondary treatment and advanced treatment. The standard for TP concentration of the sewage treatment plant effluent is 6 mgP/l in most of regions, and 2 mg/l in enforced region near metropolitan water intake point. TP in the effluents of sewage treatment plants are usually 1-2 mg/1, and most of plants meet the effluent regulation without a further phosphorus removal process. The generous TP standard for effluents discourages further efforts to improve phosphorus removal efficiency of sewage treatment. Considering that TP standard for the effluent is below 0.1 mg/l in some countries, it should be amended to below 0.1 mg/l in Korea, especially in the watershed of large lakes.2) Urban runoff and combined sewer overflow are not treated, even though their total loading into lakes can be comparable to municipal sewage discharges on dry days. Chemical coagulation and rapid settling might be the solution to urban runoff in regard of intermittent operation on only rainy days.3) Aggregated precipitation in Korea that is concentrated on several episodic heavyrains per year causes a large amount of nonpoint source pollution loading into lakes. It makes the treatment of nonpoint source discharge by methods of other countries of even rain pattern, such as retention pond or artificial wetland, impractical in Korea.4) The application rate of fertilizers in Korea is ten times as high as the average ofOECD countries. The total manure discharge from animal farming is thought to be over the capacity of soil treatment in Korea. Even though large portion of manure is composted for organic fertilizer, a lot of nutrients and organic matter emanates from organic compost. The reduction of application rate and discharge rate of phosphorus from agricultural fields should be encouraged by incentives and regulations.5) There is a lot of vegetable fields with high slopes in the upstream region of the HanRiver. Soil erosion is severe due to high slopes, and fertilizer is discharged in the form of adsorbed phosphorus on clay surface. The reduction of soil erosion in the upland area should be the major preventive policy for eutrophication. Uplands of high slope must be recovered to forest, and eroded gullies should be reformed into grass-buffered natural streams which are wider and resistant to bank erosion.

  • 국유림성립(國有林成立)의 녹유(綠由)는 근세(近世)에 근대국가(近代國家)가 형성(形成)되면서 산림(山林)을 국가재원(國家財源)의 일부(一部)로 조성(造成)시키는 동시(同時)에 산업발전(産業發展)에 기여(寄與)케 하며 아울러 국토보전(國土保全), 수원함양등(水源涵養等)의 공익기능발휘(公益技能發揮)를 목적(目的)으로 하고 있으며 그 성립과정(成立過程)은 각국(各國)의 실정(實情)에 따라 차이(差異)가 있으나 대부분(大部分)은 중세(中世)의 왕후(王侯), 영주(領主)들의 산림(山林)을 모체(母體)로 하고 있다. 한국(韓國)의 국유림성립(國有林成立)의 과정(過程)은 구한말(舊韓末) 일제(日帝)의 식민지정책(植民地政策)의 소산물(所産物)로서 산림자원수율(山林資源收率)을 목적(目的)으로 임상(林相)이 우량(優良)한 대면적(大面積)의 산림(山林)을 집단적(集團的)으로 국유림(國有林)에 편입(編入)하여 영림창(營林廠)을 설치(設置)하고 대량적(大量的)인 작벌(斫伐)을 감행(敢行)한데서 녹유(綠由)되고 있다.

유기산 완충용액의 포화도가 상아질의 탈회에 미치는 영향 (THE INFLUENCE OF THE DEGREE OF SATURATION OF ACIDULATED BUFFER SOLUTIONS IN THE ROOT DENTIN DEMINERALIZATION)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and to evaluate the effects of the degree of saturation on the progression of artificial root caries lesion. A total of 8 human premolars without any defects and cracks selected and the cementum were removed and the teeth were cleaned with ultrasonic device and pumice without fluoride. Each tooth was sectioned into 6 pieces and they were ground with #800 sandpaper until they had a thickness of 200pm. Specimens were applied with nail vanish except for the 2-3 mm window area after application of bonding agent. Under the constant pH, the specimens were divided into 6 groups (degree of saturation: 0.1415, 0.1503, 0.1597, 0.1676, 0.1771. 0.1977). Each group was immersed in acid buffer solution for 1. 2, 3, 5 days under controlled temperature ($25^{\circ}C$) and imbibed in water and examined using the polarizing microscope. The results were as follows 1. Although the degree of saturation of demineralization solution decreased, the depth of penetration in the dentin was constant. 2. Erosion was observed on the surface of all the teeth in the group I, II. In the group III, IV, V, surfaces were not changed. The teeth in the group VI showed the more mineralized surface but not the shape of the dentinal tubules distinctively. 3. In all groups, the lesion progressed rapidly at the first day of the experiment, but increased gradually as time elapsed.
