Gas sensing element, $\alpha-Fe_2O_3$ was synthesized by dehydration, reduction, and oxidation of $\alpha-FeOOH$, which was synthesized with $FeSO_4\cdot 7H_2O$ and NaOH. They were produced as a bulk-type, a thick film-type. Then, their responses and mechanisms of response to the gas of carbon monoxide were studied. The qualities of gas sefising elements are decided by the structure and the relative surface area. In the process of $\alpha-FeOOH$ synthesis, the effects of reaction conditions as the equivalent ratio, on the structure and the relative surface area of gas sensing element were observed. The changes of the structure were measured with XRD, SEM,TG-DTA and BET. The resistance changes of the synthesized gas sensor in the air were measured. The response ratio were also measured for the changes of working temperature and gas concentration. As a result of analysis with XRD, it was confirmed that the the best conditions for the synthesis of $\alpha-FeOOH$ were equivalent ratio 0.65. The thick film-type element of $\gamma-Fe_2O_3$ responded more quickly than the bulk-type did. The structure and the relative surface area of the $\rho-FeOOH$ were confirmed as the important factors deciding gas response charcteristics.
Using the photographic imagery of the SO galaxy NGC 5102, the equivalent luminosity profile and the fractional integrated luminosity curve have been derived. Several photometric parameters of the galaxy, such as a total magnitude ($B_T$), equivalent radius ($r^*_e$), effective surface brightness (${\mu}^*_e$), and concentration indices ($C_{21}$, $C_{32}$) were derived from the luminosity profiles. According to the decomposition method from the nonlinear least squares fitting, photometric parameters of the bulge (${\mu}_e$, $r_e$) and the exponential disk (${\mu}(0)$, ${\alpha}^{-1}$), and the bulge to total luminosity ratio (B/T) were obtained. The derived central disk surface brightness (${\mu} (0)\;=\;22.06\;{\pm}\;0.18\;mag/\Box"$) and the evaluated B/T ratio (= 0.52) of the NGC 5102 are close to the mean values (${\mu} (0)\;=\;21.65\;{\pm}\;0.3\;mag/\Box"$, B/T=0.63) of the SO galaxies. Analysis showed that a lens-like hump is embedded in the equivalent luminosity profile of the NGC 5102.
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient involved in many functions. Humans are unable to synthesize vitamin C de novo, because they lack the last enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway. Previous Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) for vitamin C were based on prevention of deficiency with a margin of safety. However preventing deficiency may not be equivalent to ideal nutrient intake. Recommendation should be based on vitamin function in relation to concentration. For this goal, data set of the relationship between wide-range of vitamin C dose and resulting concentrations in plasma and tissues and characterization of functional outcomes in relation to these concentrations should be acquired. This article reviews the current knowledge in these areas and suggest how this knowledge may contribute toward establishing dietary guideline for ideal vitamin C intake.
The activity concentration of primordial radionuclides i.e., $^{238}U$ series, $^{232}Th$ series and $^{40}K$, in soil samples collected from Udagamandalam environment, have been measured by employing NaI (Tl) Gamma ray Spectrometer. The absorbed gamma dose rate has also been simultaneously measured by using both Environmental Radiation Dosimeter at each soil sampling location (ambient gamma dose) as well as from the gamma dose derived from the activity concentration of the primordial radionuclides. The results of activity concentration of each radio nuclides in soil, absorbed dose rate in air due to soil activity and possible cosmic radiation at each location along with human effective dose equivalent for Udagamandalam environment are presented and discussed.
An analysis procedure for the MCFC channel flow has been developed to predict the fuel cell performance. The channel formed by the uniformly distributed trapezoidal supports is approximated by the porous medium that yields the equivalent pressure drop. The Wavier-Stokes, energy, and species equations are solved to obtain the velocity, temperature and concentration fields for a local current density which is computed from electrochemical correlations. The fuel cell characteristics, such as the temperature, pressure, mole concentration, voltage and current density distributions, are presented and discussed.

This study examined the potential of halophilic bacteria in reducing the chloride ion concentration within the cement mortars exposed to chloride attack. As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength of mortar with Halomonas venusta showed an equivalent performance to that of counterpart mortars without bacteria. Also, the chloride ion concentration measured in mortars including Halomonas Venusta was 71% lower than that of the counterpart mortars without bacteria.

The extract of white rose petals has an antioxidant effect and can be used to treat allergic disease. The purpose of this study was to identify optimal conditions for extracting antioxidative compounds from white rose petals with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activities. A response surface methodology based on a central composite design was used to investigate the effects of three independent variables: ethanol concentration ($X_1$), extraction temperature ($X_2$), and extraction time ($X_3$). The estimated optimal conditions for obtaining phenolic compounds with antioxidant activities were as follows: ethanol concentration of 42% ($X_1$), extraction time of 80 min ($X_3$), and extraction temperature of $75^{\circ}C$ ($X_2$). The estimated optimal conditions for obtaining flavonoid compounds with antioxidant effects were an ethanol concentration of 41% ($X_1$), extraction time of 119 min ($X_3$), and an extraction temperature of $75^{\circ}C$ ($X_2$). Under these conditions, predicted response values for the phenolic and flavonoid contents were 243.5 mg gallic acid equivalent/g dry mass and 19.93 mg catechin equivalent (CE)/g dry mass, respectively.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the radioactivity levels and radiological impacts of representative black sand samples collected from different locations in the Rashid area, Egypt. These samples were prepared and then analyzed using the high-resolution gamma ray spectroscopy technique with a high-purity germanium detector. The activity concentration ($A_c$), minimum detectable activity, absorbed gamma dose rate, external hazard index ($H_{ex}$), annual effective dose rate equivalent, radium equivalent, as well as external and internal hazard index ($H_{ex}$ and $H_{in}$, respectively) were estimated based on the measured radionuclide concentration of the $^{238}U$($^{226}Ra$) and $^{232}Th$ decay chains and $^{40}K$. The activity concentrations of the $^{238}U$, $^{232}Th$ decay series and $^{40}K$ of these samples varied from $45.11{\pm}3.1Bq/kg$ to $252.38{\pm}34.3Bq/kg$, from $64.65{\pm}6.1Bq/kg$ to $579.84{\pm}53.1Bq/kg$, and from $403.36{\pm}20.8Bq/kg$ to $527.47{\pm}23.1Bq/kg$, respectively. The activity concentration of $^{232}Th$ in Sample 1 has the highest value compared to the other samples; this value is also higher than the worldwide mean range as reported by UNSCEAR 2000. The total absorbed gamma dose rate and the annual effective dose for these samples were found to vary from 81.19 nGy/h to 497.81 nGy/h and from $99.86{\mu}Sv/y$ to $612.31{\mu}Sv/y$, which are higher than the world average values of 59 nGy/h and $70{\mu}Sv/y$, respectively. The $H_{ex}$ values were also calculated to be 3.02, 0.47, 0.63, 0.87, 0.87, 0.51 and 0.91. It was found that the calculated value of $H_{ex}$ for Sample 1 is significantly higher than the international acceptable limit of <1. The results are tabulated, depicted, and discussed within national and international frameworks, levels, and approaches.
